The only reason this restaurant earned 2 stars is because the service was excellent. Without that,…read moreit would've been a 1 star experience. The food itself tasted good, but the portion size was shockingly small for the price. I didn't order a kids' meal, yet the amount of food I received looked like one--and I'm someone who doesn't even eat a lot. I was still hungry afterward. I paid over $20 for this meal, and it simply wasn't worth it. I ate at two other restaurants this week, spent less than $20 at each, and the food there was far better and portions larger and absolutely worth every penny. ( I ordered the combination platter which consisted of catfish, shrimp and sweet potato fries.) I guess they were rationing food the evening I placed an order for pickup.

I got the special of the day which was baked chicken with rice and gravy and two sides. They guy serving was super sweet to explain to me the ordering process and I had a great conversation with the woman in line before me who comes every week for the Wednesday special. For my sides, I chose the greens and mashed potatoes. Even though I got two starches, it was worth it because the mashed potatoes and gravy were worth having as a main dish! I loved the greens, too, especially since they had all the hot sauce and peppers and vinegar choices you could want. The chicken was fork tender and I left nothing on the plate. I love that they provide each guest a little wrapped package of cornbread and iced cake of the day, too. I will definitely be stopping at Pamela's any time I'm in town.

We both felt really heavy afterward, and my mom even felt sick after eating there. It was just basic diner food and a bit overpriced for something you can get almost anywhere else. AMBIANCE: The inside felt very run down. The bar wasn't even finished and didn't look like it was ever used. Overall, it had a very hole-in-the-wall feel.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Alexandria! I love this shop so much that I took my husband here…read moreas his first stop in Alexandria prior to meeting my parents when he was my boyfriend! Of course I chose somewhere that I felt was the best Alexandria has to offer in an atmosphere where he could enjoy a beverage and have plenty of space and privacy to relax and unwind (he is the first boyfriend I ever took to meet my parents so the pressure was real!) This shop is located in downtown Alexandria with super quirky decor, lots of seating, and several book and game options to pass the time! I also loved the hidden notes in the bookcase that gave book recommendations. I have tried several of their drinks here throughout the years. Most recently I tried one of their seasonal drinks, the reindeer chow but asked them to hold the chow to make it a cookie butter latte with oat milk (wasn't really in the mood for a chocolatey cereal chow meal in my drink but loved the concept)! I also ordered the avocado toast. The latte was perfectly balanced, yet rich and delicious! It was also served at the perfect drinkable temp. The avocado toast was THICK and the avocado and egg topping seemed fresh. It was very filling and a nice dose of healthy protein after all the holiday indulgence! I will ALWAYS come back to this coffee shop when I'm in town especially since it holds a precious memory for me. Also, Check out the background of this shop on their website, such a beautiful dedication!

I have been in the Alexandria, LA probably a dozen times in the last two years for breakfast. The…read morebreakfast is pretty good (if you can get it hot)! I don't understand why there is always 3 to 5 orders just sitting at the pickup area for 10 to 20 minutes waiting to get picked up by the waitresses who don't seem to be in a hurry to deliver the meals in a timely manner (while still hot). The time before my last visit, I asked to have my Waffle first before the rest of the breakfast so it would be hot when I got it. I waited 20 minutes and asked my waitress about it and she had not put the order in!!! Not the brightest bulb on the tree! When she finally brought the waffle to my table, I put the back of my hand to the waffle, and it was barely warm with ice-cold butter on top "and" she delivered the rest of my order (eggs, country ham, hashbrown, grits and toast, all also just lukewarm and the eggs & toast were cold. She brought me another "hot" order and looked at me like I had horns! The last couple of times I have eaten there I have sat at the counter on a stool literally 3 feet from the food pickup area so the cook can pass my plates to me as they come off the grill nice and hot! Nobody wants lukewarm or cold food. The solution is too easy, either they have a food expediter to immediately pick up the food and get it right out to the table and/or ring the bell that an order is ready and so the waitresses hear it or know it is calling her, if the restaurant has four waitresses the cook should ring the bell four times in succession, if there are only two or three waitresses then just ring the bell twice or three times. If there is a manager, he/she needs to make sure the waitresses and cooks are on the same page and more of a sense of urgency to get the food out hot! IF THEY EXPECT A NICE TIP! If I get good hot food and good professional service, typically leave a 25% or more tip, but these waitresses are lucky if I leave $2. I left two stars because of the issues afore mentioned. If I were grading just the food, it would be 5 stars.
