This is my favorite coffee shop in Alexandria! I love this shop so much that I took my husband here…read moreas his first stop in Alexandria prior to meeting my parents when he was my boyfriend! Of course I chose somewhere that I felt was the best Alexandria has to offer in an atmosphere where he could enjoy a beverage and have plenty of space and privacy to relax and unwind (he is the first boyfriend I ever took to meet my parents so the pressure was real!) This shop is located in downtown Alexandria with super quirky decor, lots of seating, and several book and game options to pass the time! I also loved the hidden notes in the bookcase that gave book recommendations. I have tried several of their drinks here throughout the years. Most recently I tried one of their seasonal drinks, the reindeer chow but asked them to hold the chow to make it a cookie butter latte with oat milk (wasn't really in the mood for a chocolatey cereal chow meal in my drink but loved the concept)! I also ordered the avocado toast. The latte was perfectly balanced, yet rich and delicious! It was also served at the perfect drinkable temp. The avocado toast was THICK and the avocado and egg topping seemed fresh. It was very filling and a nice dose of healthy protein after all the holiday indulgence! I will ALWAYS come back to this coffee shop when I'm in town especially since it holds a precious memory for me. It's a family owned business and there are baked goods from the local area. There's seating outside and great to go options as well as a food truck downtown pineville. Reminds me of my SeaTac roots. I just don't see how a person making an espresso drink could care ANY LESS than the guy at the counter. Somehow there were literally coffee grinds in my drink?? How does that even happen when you're making espresso??? and there is ZERO texture to the milk-- it's literally just warm milk with no foam. Maybe this place is one step above a Starbucks, but I'm not even sure about that. It's just so lazy. This used to be a really great little local shop. They've updated the interior so it's gotten a trendy facelift, but sadly the drinks have gone down in quality. Not sure if it's just new staffing but the last two experiences there, I have regretted the money that was spent. The coffee I got today was so incredibly scalding that the milk tasted like a burnt pretzel. It was essentially undrinkable, even after cooling to room temperature, and unfortunately I discovered this after leaving the storefront. I think it might have been the worst drink I've ever paid for.

Beans and Creams…read more The name made me chuckle because apparently I am an idiot. Anyway, I didn't get to try the beans, but I definitely enjoyed the creams. The chocolate and mint chocolate chip combo is the move. Trust me. Get them together. The chocolate was really good, although mine was a little too firm for my liking. The mint chocolate chip, however, was exactly the right texture and really good. Put the two together and you have yourself a winner. Service was fast and friendly, and the prices were about what you would expect compared to other ice cream shops. Nothing complicated here. Good ice cream, friendly people, and a name that apparently brings out my inner 12-year-old. Come get your beans or your creams here.
