In the span of 4 years I've spent a little over $1000 on piercings and upgraded jewelry, and in no way am I complaining of the price because you get what you pay for and I returned each and every single time anytime I want a new piece or piercing, because the place was friendly, clean, and reputable. Recently at the beginning of the year, I decided I wanted a new piercing and to have my nose ring put back. It wasnt a pleasant experience with a little snobby attitude but I figured it was a bad day and that was fine with me because I have enjoyed the place for over 4 years, one little hitch wasn't going to make me stop coming back. I return 2 weeks later to have it shortened and the attitude and unfriendliness was still there, at this point it's a little disappointing. Fast forwarding, today I had an mri appointment and needed to get some retainers for my piercings and I ended up spending 100$ on just retainers and requested to have them put in because a lot of piercings I have are difficult, to have Jamie say it's not something she should need to do or want to do because she doesn't make money and it's taking up her time. Mind you there is no in the shop but me. To top it off with rude comments about one piece of jewelry I had that was in fact from the shop it just had different ends. I'm sorry but you would think a repeat customer of 4 years and as much as I've spent there she would be happy enough to do a service for me, even after I spent $100 for retainers from the shop! No longer will be bringing my business or recommending this piercing shop to anyone! read more

Save your time and money, been to this shop two or three times and have always received sarcasm and rudeness from Jamie (the piercer). The front counter people always seem nice enough but Jamie is awful, awful, awful to deal with. It's the only shop in bend so I keep hoping that maybe the last time I went In she was just having a bad day or something and I give it another shot, but no, she's just snarky and mean. This time I went in to buy a stud for my nose to replace one the jewel fell out of. After overpaying for the jewelry itself, I asked that the stud be adjusted to fit right, the front counter lady said I'd have to wait several days and come back to make sure my nose membranes weren't swollen (what???) I explained I'd had the piercing 4 years and whatever they could do ro adjust it today would be just fine because I don't often have someone to watch my son so I could come in. I paid an extra $10 for Jamie to adjust it (which is free at EVERY other pierce shop I've bought jewelry from)and get called back, Jamie put the stud in my nose and REFUSED to adjust it (sarcastically saying something about quit making excuses about not having a babysitter and come back to fix it... or don't), so now it sits too high and gets caught on everything. I had the best pier ing experience here. I was traveling for work, so I stopped in. Everyone was really friendly and knowledgeable about the process and jewelry. Then during the actual piercing, I received more information that made me feel more comfortable. The piercing didn't hurt and never got infected, as I followed their instructions to the 10th degree. The girls at the counter are trained to be rude. They have been told to ask you "is your Jewelry real" then tell you it looks fake and that you would need to get all new jewelry from their shop so you don't get an infection! Be prepared to be asked that "none of their f-ing business question". There isn't much of a selection and everything is super expensive. When I finally chose my jewelry pice I was told it was $80 then after it was put in, painfully I might add for just swapping out my jewelry. I was told it was actually $180.... after a bit of a pause, she then tells me it was "ok" because she had already put it in my ear. And that she wasn't going to charge me extra. Why would you even say anything? I felt like she was trying to charge me an extra $100 but quickly changed her mind . I have never had a good experience there in my three years of living in Bend. Thankfully, there is a Piercing shop in Redmond that I will be going to instead. read more

I went in to get a second piercing in my nostril. It's not my first time getting it done. I've had to take it out due to jobs so the holes closed over time. I was told that I'd have to take my existing nose stud out and come back in 6 weeks so that they could align it right even though she said my existing placement was perfect. I think it's a gimmick to do 2 piercings at the same time for more $$$. Any other place said that they could do it no problem. read more

Our experience here was fantastic! We came for our 14 year old daughter to get a second ear piercing. The building is very clean. The staff were all super knowledgeable, patient, helpful, insightful, and caring. They took the time to answer and explain all questions. Brought my 6 year old daughter in this weekend to get her ears pierced and decided to have my nose done as well. The front desk staff are absolutely phenomenal! Electra was AMAZING with my daughter and made us feel so excited and at home. I can't say enough great things about how we (very inexperienced) were treated throughout the process of deciding what we wanted. My daughter was treated as an adult and Electra even had my daughter sign her own documents (I, of course, signed too) which made my daughter feel extra special. The owner of the shop and piercing changed the experience, I have to admit. She was curt and made the remaining part of the experience scary for both of us. My best friend was with us and agreed that the piercing part of the experience was definitely not as great. My daughter was being brave but started crying because she is accustomed to being walked through processes like this. The owner just curtly kept up with what she was doing. If she had paused and just talked TO my daughter, I think the situation would have been better. My nose piercing experience was similar...the way she was treating me made me feel FEAR. I wasn't in any sort of pain but I was SCARED the entire time. I'm sure she is just not used to working with noobs like us or maybe she was having a low-patience day. Whatever the case, I'm still giving four stars because the piercings are perfect. Absolutely perfect. Upon reflection, my nose piercing didn't hurt AT ALL and is exquisite. I'm getting so many compliments. My daughter's ears are healing up so well and the aftercare has been very easy. We love the saline spray! So, all in all, be prepared to buck up during the piercing (duh!), don't be put off by the owner while she is doing the piercing, and fall in love with the front desk staff (I wish I had another word for them, they were incredible!). UPDATE: I went back to have my nose piercing redone (because I had to take it out for surgery) and was once again wowed by the staff. The owner was incredible this time. Very caring. Wow.. What a HORRIBLE place . I spent $211 &had multiple piercings done 5 days ago only to have one of my opals mysteriously fall out, along with the ball.I returned to have them fix it & they rudely told me in was my fault . Offered to put a new one in for another $38! Told me in 14 years it's " never happened before". Jaime got very arrogant & told me I should never return . I was shocked & livid.She finally agreed to put in a less than comparable replacement & aggressively put it in as a cried . Wow, no wonder she said they didn't like yelp& complained about Yelp constantly . Bad reviews because they SUCK!! Don't go, you will be treated ok until there's a problem , then you're screwed ! They didn't even make eye contact when I first entered because they knew they messed up. Walked in, first impression: beautiful well done shop. Clean, organized. Greeted by the nicest ladies. Super helpful. Took care of us well. Waited 1-1.1/4 hours to get the piercing on my daughter. Got the call to come in and get the piercing done. We walk in the room with Jamie. She from the get go tells my daughter that three of her four piercings are bad. Gave us a lecture on "good" jewelry. Lectured us on how to find a good piercer. Tooted her own horn way too many times about how great she is. Pretty much down talked my daughter and her piercers at home. (Which have way better table side manners) Then talked in depth about showering. My daughter is 14. She can shower perfectly fine. She talked more than necessary. My daughters other piercings were all done by someone MUCH MORE professional and we actually paid much for the other ones in California. Jamie was rude, shit talking, degrading, disrespectful. She must make herself feel better putting down other piercers. I would never go back or recommend this place. The front girls, they rock!!! Jamie, can take a leap off the pedestal. My friend and I went into the store around 4 today; after viewing jewelry and being helped by two super sweet workers, they asked if we had eaten when they found out my friend was nervous of the pain. After comforting her, they turned us away to get food and gladly pierced us when we returned. They let us take photos and explained the entire process in such detail! I had been going to Jamie at Starfire since 2005. Multiple piercings, and the only place I purchase new jewelry from. Years ago I would have given this studio 5 stars, but sadly that is not the case any more. My recent visits to Starfire have not been up to par. I have been rushed, snubbed, and over charged. My last visit (about 3 weeks ago) really sealed the deal for me. To sum it up, in the past when I purchased new jewelry (in store, at Starfire) Jamie would help me switch it out. I have tried on my own, and just can't figure it out. This time, after driving into town from over an hour away, I was told that it would be over an hour wait (even though there were literally no other customers, as I was first through the door). The gal then told me that really, they are trying to get away from switching out jewelry for people, because "it's really something you should be able to do on your own". I just spent $200.00 on jewelry and they can't help me switch it out? They apparently don't have the time for 'little' things like that. They seem to be too big for their own shoes nowadays and that's pretty sad. Jamie, and the gals behind the desk always seemed pretty down to earth, and very helpful. Not so much the case now. Gone in for two piercings here and I love it. Jamie is the perfect piercer for me; she gives great info and runs through the procedure before starting. Once, I had to go in to get my belly piercing re-stretched (I had taken it out for a weekend because it itched) and she was quick to get to me, the re-stretching was fast, and she let me know why my piercing had been itching and what to do to fix it. I simply adore her attitude and expertise. Everyone's always been super helpful and friendly right when I walk in; they've been patient when I had questions and nervousness about piercings. I have been here many times and every time I come here the girls up front are very welcoming and friendly I think the staff is great ! However on the other hand Jamie the owner needs to learn some new mannerism ! As a business owner you should never degrade your customers and make them feel horrible ! I came in with my nose ring that was NOT her piece and I wanted to switch back to the piece I purchased from her, the young lady at the counter told me she had to ask Jamie if she was willing to switch it out and Jamie said yes, Jamie came out of her office and I told her why I took my original piece out *not on purpose* and i tried to get the original back in and it wouldn't go back in I didn't want the hole to close so I put in a smaller one * I was out of state * and wanted to wait till I could get back to her,in front of my teenage kids I had with me she blasted me and said ya ya excuses for everything my kids looked at me and said dang mom she just blasted you ! I was so embarrassed !!! Then when I got into her little room she was trying to force in the original piece back in and said to me damn your nose is really f**king swollen ! She finally got it in and then turned to me when I got off her table and said bye bye in a rude snobby like hurry and get out of here kinda way ! Oh not to mention that if you come in with her jewelry she will switch out for free but when I came in with the piece in my nose that was NOT hers she charged me to switch it out. All I can say is that every time I have come in her famous every other word is the F bomb and in front of kids I as a parent I feel that is very unprofessional and ya maybe I shouldn't bring kids here but my kid is 15 and I still feel that is unprofessional she is also very snobby rude and over charges as a business owner I think she needs to work on being professional and get over herself. Went here to get a nose stud, got a bump almost immediately after. Babied it for moths following direction and couldn't get it to go away. Went to another place and turns out it's pierced too high and in the crease of my nose so it won't heal properly. Have to get it re-pierced now. Sucks. read more

Setting the stage: Went to a competitor in town who wouldn't help me by selling me a replacement for my navel piercing which fell out after more than 4 years (while on vacay in SunRiver). I stormed off and thought "this is no way to grow a business ..." Then waited til Starfire was open on Tuesday, and what a difference. I was greeted with a smile!!! When I asked if I could size up to a 10 g., I was taken seriously and the owner was consulted before I could continue. They were so great and thorough and kind to me that I surprised my 14 year-old daughter and got her the second piercings she's been asking for. Bam! Everyone was SOOOO GREAT WITH HER. THIS is definitely the way to grow a business. If all they did was sell me jewelry, I'd have been grateful. But they were awesome and knowledgeable and kind. I would not only go back in a pinch for a fix, but if I'm planning another vacay to Oregon (likely), I would even schedule a new piercing here. Check them out, they are liquid wonderousness. FWIW: I'm a musician from SF Bay Area with 2 adopted kids. I've got 4 g. captive in my ears, one 10g. nipple barbell, my 10g. navel captive, and an 8g. PA. Jamie was rude to me throughout my conversation with her while putting in a plug. She scoffed at my inquiries about a style of piercing and proceeded to make me feel bad about even asking. When I showed her my navel in hopes she could help me get some jewelry back in, she said "what'd you do to let it get like that? It's all messed up." I have a daughter so my tummy has stretch marks and is a little wonky from the prego belly (not wonky enough to make that comment, though). I had noticed a picture of her with a young girl and assumed she was a mom, too. I tried to brush off her comment with a "you know how it is when you have a kid," and motioned toward the picture. She said, "that's not my kid." She must have really wanted me to leave because she said nothing after that and stared at me, as though I had said something rude or was overstaying my welcome. I thanked her and left. This was about a year ago and I no longer even live in Oregon, but this terrible experience has lingered with me. Take your money/business someplace that shows a higher level of service, kindness, and decency. Women have enough issues with body image. We have a responsibility to one another help uplift and support out fellow females, not tear them down with critical comments about mommy body. Make sure you eat a meal before going here. Went in to get a nose piercing and they told me I needed to drive to the gas station down the road to eat an energy bar and Gatorade before they would pierce me....??? Bizarre. When I told them I ate lunch a couple hours before the piercing lady condescendingly said "honey you need to have a good meal in you so why don't you come back after dinner." I've gotten piercings many times before and have literally never heard this. Poor customer service and not friendly. This place won't be getting my money. read more

They keep everything very clean, they are very communicative about what will occur (pressure due to size or shape of jewelry etc), and give great advice. I saw an article about Jamie and how great she is at piercing kid's ears. I had high hopes, so I took my daughter in on her 10th birthday. Getting her ears pierced was the #1 thing on her list to do for the day. When I arrived I was greeted with warm smiles and helpful info from the staff up front. I paid up front for this service and was told it would just be a few minutes. As we waited my daughter was a bit anxious because she had never had her ears pierced before. When we were finally called into the piercing room we had to endure Jamie tell the staff what was wrong with the room and her take home baggies for customers jewelry; no big deal. My daughter was apprehensive, but quiet, while Jamie explained what was going to happen. Then Jamie told my 10 yr old that it would be a F&%@*ING piece of cake. WHAT? Really? Do you talk to other people's kids with that language? My daughter made a face, and then she was asked " if she was really turning 10 today?, because she was acting like she was 3 yrs old...." I really couldn't believe that she would treat a 10 yr old in this manner on her birthday, or any day for that matter! Needless to say I was COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED in her behavior and will never recommend her to anyone EVER!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe she is even in business. My daughter and I have been going to Starfire for years for piercings and jewelry. I bought sweatshirts and tee shirts to advertise the shop! ( all in the county landfill now). We both liked Jamie. We even bought her a tee shirt with an old movie picture on it cause she was talking about how she loved that movie! We thought of her as a friend. (BIG MISTAKE). My daughter went in for a piercing a couple of months ago and mentioned that a couple of my flat backs had turned black. Instead of being professional and saying bring her in when she's in town and I will check them, she says "well you know she isn't the cleanest person". WOW! My daughter was totally floored!!!! Even though it is none of her business , I shower everyday and use a baby tooth brush on my jewelry!!! My daughter didn't tell me right away because she knew how much it would hurt me. We went in and Jamie checked my flat backs and said it was the metal they were coated and the coating is warn off. Blah blah blah. She would order me stainless steel. My daughter told me after this visit needless to say I will NEVER go to that place again!! We should have caught on to what she was really like when she was always backstabbing her other customers to us. I'm sure she was doing that about us to them. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! I was so upset when I went into Starfire today. I had gone there when I was 18 for a belly button piercing. Jamie was condescending and rude back then, but I thought I would give her another chance of redemption. I got my nose pierced in California- where I was living at the time. I was hoping to get a hoop instead of a stud. The staff at the front counter was Amazing! But when Jamie saw me she looked at me and said "you know your nose looks horrible right" excuse me? I'm a customer! You should NEVER speak to anyone (especially paying customers) that way! Then she proceeded to tell me that my jewelry was fake, (had it checked- it's not) it wasn't in the right spot, and that the girl who pierced my nose used a left sided stud instead of a right. I would not recommend coming here as they only want your money and don't care about actually helping you. I called ahead of time to discuss putting the ball back into my hoop piercing that is already through my ear and to put back a piercing into my nose where the hole already existed. I tried doing it myself but decided it was best to have a piercing place do it just in case. Over the phone they told it they could do it and it was fine to bring in my own jewelry. Once I got there they told me they couldn't help me unless I bought their jewelry. I was told one thing over the phone and another once I got there. It was a waste of time! They don't actually care about their customers and are inconsistent in what they will do for you!! Also, the lady who helped me was was sarcastically rude. I had my ears pierced up in Redmond because of the negative reviews I read about Starfire. Absolutely wish I had not done that. My experience at Starfire has been above and beyond that which I received in Redmond in terms of staff, knowledge, atmosphere and selection. I have always been treated professionally at Starfire by people who care and are very knowledgeable.
