DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY SERVICES. I had my nose pierced by Angela (owner) she left a gap in the nose ring and it slipped into the skin overnight and healed I was unable to push it back through. I had to cut off myself with wire cutters. When I got it pierced Angela even said it would not close completely and left the gap.. after using tools to try and close it. The tools slipped off several times and jarred my nose each time causing severe pain. I am a Nurse and I take great pride in my work.... Thinking that Angela would feel the same, I called back and kindly explained what happened, she interrupted me and told me I was not entitled to a refund. ANGELA LIED AND SAID THE RING WAS CLOSED.... Come on Angela you and I both know it was not. VERY SNARKY AND RUDE.... Shame on you and just remember this when Karma visits you. In response to Angela: wow more lies???? I never said anything about my husband... he liked it and knew I was getting it. If you actually read my review, you would see that it says the gap in the ring that you clearly new was there and YOU even told me you could not close it....slipped into my skin and healed over. I did not say it opened up, you left it gapped! Another lie: you never offered your number for issues.... And it was over Christmas so your shop was closed. My husband and I drove to Oregon from San Francisco because we heard that Alicia was great. It was worth the drive. If you are going to permanently ink your body, you want the tattoo artist to be a true artist, listen to what you want and be meticulous with detail. Alicia has all three of these qualities and more. She is an amazing artist. We told her what we were looking for, and they weren't simple straight forward designs, and she was able to create on paper what we had in our minds - only better. We called Alicia before we came up and gave her an idea of what we wanted, she listened carefully and asked questions. When we got there she had incredibly beautiful and thoughtful designs ready for us. She pays attention to detail and takes her time in executing the tattoo. This is a review of woe and long overdue. Six years ago on my 21st birthday my mom and I wanted matching tattoos. Being Bend locals we decided to get our work done at Mums Tattoo Studio. Angela was the owner of this establishment and a self proclaimed experienced tattoo artist. We arrived early to discuss our quote and and choose our font. When we walked in the door Angela was eating her lunch and failed to greet us. She continued reading her Bible and ate away. My mother and I waited until she was well and ready to acknowledge us. I found her behavior impersonal and rude. There we were giving you our time and money, and I was left with the impression that Angela was annoyed by our presence. We picked out our fonts, and for the quote to say "Time Heals Everything". We both insisted on having our tattoos done in white ink. After it healed, it would look more like a scar. The scar appearance held more symbolic meaning to me and gave it a great significance. While telling Angela about my request for the art that would permanently be on my flesh. She shook her head, rolled her eyes, and was arguing with my mother and I on the ink choice. She finally agreed to do it and made the stencil. I decided to go first. This is when shit really started to go down hill. Angela either didn't listen or just simply did not give a fuck about what she did. She started my tattoo in black ink and with a very heavy hand. When I told her to stop and angrily questioned what she was doing she acted smug and clueless at the same time. I am not completely sure if this woman was under the influence or just plain spiteful her remark to me "Oh were we doing the white ink"? I literally wanted to scream and run out of her shop. I decided to suck it up and go with an all black ink tattoo. Wait it gets worse, after we finished our tattoos mine black and my mothers white we found that she misspelled both the tattoos. Double fucked she still had the audacity to charge for her shotty botched tattoos. I should also mention that whilst she was digging and packing black misspelled words into my flesh, this hag had the nerve to brag about her several years of tattooing in PDX. She said she could try and fix the misspelled word "EVERTHING" into "Everything". She had stated while attempting to fix her permanent mistake that this happened because we chose to elaborate of a font. Fucking ridiculous! I am currently going through the process of removing and covering up what she did. Anyone looking into getting a tattoo do your research. Look at reviews and double check the spelling of illiterate individuals. Anyone considering Mums or Angela Kephart as your Tattoo artist should heed this review as a serious warning. Poor customer service. After putting down a $40 deposit, Angela called me the day of to cancel due to her being sick. I was leaving town indefinitely later that day and couldn't reschedule. She offered me $20 off to compensate. A couple months went by and I wasn't able to get back to Bend, I called to ask for a refund of my deposit and was told that they "do not give refunds, no exceptions". Appalled at this point, I asked if I could come in to discuss my tattoo ahead of time before getting it done, I was told "we don't do that". I ended up following through with the tattoo, only because of my tight finances. Angela did a good job but was impersonal and extremely rude. My tattoo is really personal and special to me, seemed like she only cares about doing a good tattoo and not about her customer. read more

Angela did my first two tattoos when I was 18, while still at Uncle Bill's and after 10+ years they still look great. I got my third at her shop as a birthday present to myself and her artists are great. I took in printed pictures and described what I wanted...and got exactly that! The artist (male and whose name I am forgetting - forgive me) was great and since it was an ankle piece was really patient when it was painful. He let my friend come in and sit by me to talk and watch. I've moved from Bend but would get any future tattoos through this shop again. Great atmosphere, great staff, excellent work! read more

Went in to Angela for a tattoo last night based on recommendations from a few friends. I've always had problems with my tattoos, thick ropy 1/2" scabs, etc... and I can tell the day after getting them that no matter how good my aftercare is, that they're going to end up looking nothing like they did at first, and are going to need retouching. Totally different experience here. Had a great time hanging in the shop, great vibe. She works fast and precise. I called and asked when there was availability, I was told to come in in one hour. I showed up in one hour and was greeted with " oh did you call an hour ago?" I explained I had called and started to explain what I had in mind and she told me she needed to make a phone call. I then signed paper work before even really discussing what I wanted and when she came back in she immediately said " just so you know I have to leave by 6." I was told to arrive at 5, she told me this at 5:10. Horrible service, of course I won't agree to letting you put permanent ink on me in your rushed 40 minute time frame. read more

Very clean and bright. The artists are not just tattooists, they are also artists that paint beautiful pieces. Mum was very accommodating to my schedule, and was open to artistic suggestions. I have had many tattoos, and find that a lot of tattooists are heavy handed so it was refreshing to have a gentle hand doing my tattoo. Great winter rates now until January 2016 at $100 an hour, which is a big bonus! I recommend Mums!! read more

I stopped in Bend to get a tattoo after a very soulful trip I'd made through the wilderness. The tattoo was meant to be a meaningful gesture glorifying the trip. I debated writing this review because I didn't say anything in the moment when it was happening and I should have. In the future, if these things come up, I'll try to be more proactive. Pros: The tattoo shop is clean and has a beautiful atmosphere. They are fairly priced. The artists are clearly skilled. Cons: My tattoo artist was on her phone from the moment I arrived, stopping only when she gave me the tattoo, and then immediately went back to it. (And she called me to come in early for my appointment.) This was not my biggest issue. My biggest problem that I wish I'd said something about involves my tattoo placement. I made a very conscious choice to place my tattoo in a certain place, facing a certain direction. My tattoo artist claimed this was upside down. (To who though? Me or some random person waking by me?) I'm of the mindset that there are no "rules" in tattooing. You can get them facing whichever way you want. Whatever etiquette there is should be used only for those who are uncertain of where they want it. My tattoo artist so firmly believed that it was upside down that when I told her, "I want it so I can read it," she rolled her eyes so far back in her head she might have been seizing. I don't know if she realized I was looking right at her. It made me so uncomfortable and at that point I really didn't want her doing my tattoo, but I went through with it not wanting to make a scene. So that's it. Take it however you want. read more

About 2 months ago I called in asking for an appointment to get a tattoo. Angela, the owner, said she had time right then and to walk on in. I go in with a friend and once I show her what I want she says there isn't time but I could come back a different day. So we schedule and appointment for about 3 weeks later. 3 weeks later I walk in for my appointment and she is with another customer behind a curtain. She yells "Is that my appointment?" and I say yes... weird.... she says well I think i'm getting strep throat and it's pretty contagious... (I'm thinking why didn't you call me to reschedule?) I continue to sit there confused as to whether she's giving me the option to still get my tattoo done or if she is canceling.... finally she comes out behind the curtain about 25 minutes later and says..."I just don't feel up to doing your tattoo".... So I am a little frustrated but understanding at the same time. I ask to reschedule and we reschedule for the next Monday. The next Monday rolls around and I walk up to the door to see a sign on the door stating... "Today is Tuesday, I am sick, see you Wednesday or Thursday".... wtf? First of all it is Monday, second of all she again does not call me in advance to reschedule so I have wasted my time. I call her and there's no answer so I leave her a message slightly frustrated but basically just asking her for my deposit back. The next day I receive a text that says she has Pneumonia and is sorry for missing my appointment. I tell her I understand but would like my 40$ deposit back. She says she does not do refunds but will put my 40$ towards a tattoo in the future. Frustrated but not wanting to lose my 40$ i schedule yet another appointment. She asks me to send her a picture of what I want... which is weird because I already thought she had been working on my art for the last few weeks... but I send it to her again with a few ideas of things I would like her to include in the piece. She then bitches at my over texts for sending her the pictures too late at night. The day of the tattoo she still hasn't sent me any update on my art or the ideas she has come up with so I text her and ask her to send me what she's been working on. She says she was just planning on drawing it up right when I got there. This is enough for me to know she doesn't give a crap about my work so I tell her I would really just like my deposit back because I felt disrespected. My exact words are "I don't want you work. You have given me a lot of attitude and I feel extremely disrespected" She responds "I think I've been pretty patient and willing to work through your mean bitchiness and hope you stop insulting everyone and being a bully." I'm in shock!!!!! She continues... "Blocking you from ever calling me, don't ever com to the shop either or I will call the police." I highly recommend NOT going to Angela and Mums. She is CRAZZYYYY!!!!!!!!! I should have noticed when she was bashing other tattoo shops the first time we walked in. read more

An artist working at Mum's tattooed me last March. My tattoo needed some small but very obvious touching up. So I called a week and a half ago to make an appointment for a touch up. The owner told me that the artist who did the work originally is no longer in the shop & has since moved to Eugene. She also told me that unfortunately because the work was done in her shop she would have to guarantee it. She made it pretty clear to me over the phone that she wasn't happy about having to do it but she was obligated. She even said she expected a tip since it was essentially free work for her. I arrived today a few minutes before my appointment and heard a voice from behind a curtain say, "Do you have a question?" I responded "No". I heard a sigh and huff and out popped a lady who says "What then?" I tell her I have an appointment for a touch up. She asks to see my tattoo and says it'll only take her ten minutes to work on it. I agree that it should be quick. Then she says "I'll need you to come back later cause if I have to wrap up what I'm doing it'll cost me an hour." I must have looked at her confused because then she says very irritated "I'm not making any money helping you. I'm doing you a favor since I didn't even get paid to do that anyway." I say something to her about my appointment and she tells me to come back six hours later. I explain that my appointment time is the only time I can be there. She says "Well you're going to be waiting at least twenty minutes because I'm not going to stop working on someone that is actually paying me" I think she mentioned the fact that I was costing her money at least three more times and even walked away from me while I was speaking to her. Then she told me to go to Eugene to have the original artist do the touch up. I cannot explain how unprofessional she was. I would think that as a business owner she would want anything from her shop to be impeccable. I would also think that she'd do whatever she could to make me her customer instead of sending me to Eugene. Or even keep me happy so I'd recommend her shop to other people. She kept talking about money and how I was wasting hers as if she assumed I wouldn't pay her for her work. It got to the point where I'd rather drive two hours to Eugene than allow her to even get near me let alone tattoo my body! read more

I went into Mum's today to ask about getting a tattoo. When the owner, Angela I assume, asked how she could help, I said, "Would you mind turning down the music a little? I can't hear you." To which she replied, "No, we're not going to do that." I thought maybe she was joking, so I asked her whether she really meant what she said, and she said did.
