We stopped at the Starbucks on the way back from Sacramento and Truckee. I'm a little surprised they don't keep it updated for as many tourists that come through here. My tea was great, the tea and lemonade was great. The bathroom is left a little bit to your imagination. The bathrooms need to be updated. There was no toilet paper in there so I had to tell the girl up at the counter. There were boxes stacked all over in front of the bathrooms. It's very dated. The girls were friendly and the service was quick. It just could use an update on the decor. read more

Don't come here. Omgshhh it's conveniently located on my route to and from Tahoe, and after a long drive, all I want is a decent drink and a quick pick-me-up. Unfortunately, this place disappoints every single time. First off: the drinks are consistently made wrong. Not once or twice every time (5 years and counting). I'll order something simple, and somehow it still comes out wrong. I was handed a drink that I could immediately tell wasn't what I ordered. I said, "This wasn't made right," and the barista just shut the window in my face. No apology, no remake, nothing. Just... the window shut.. To top it off, the coffee itself is just bad -- bitter, burnt, and totally overpriced. When you're paying $8 + for something that's supposed to be a treat, it shouldn't feel like a chore. This Starbucks does not have enough employees to operate. Today they are only taking orders over the Starbucks app and through the drive-thru. If you wish to sit inside the Starbucks, you must order through the Starbucks app, then stand there and wait for your order. There's no one at work that's able to ring you up in the store. I'm not sure why they chose to use the drive-thru instead of the walk up if there aren't enough employees. After all, everyone that drives here can walk in, but only the people in cars can drive through. They do have signs up saying that they're hiring. read more

I stopped in at this Starbucks located right off the 80 in a shopping center in Truckee. Freeway access is good, so if you're traveling, this is a good stop. Parking was no prob, even with all the piles of snow around. I just wanted a pick me up and some traveling caffeine for my trip down off the mountain back to the flats of California, plus to use the WiFi and get out some reviews on the laptop! I've tried this Starbucks twice. The first time the barista didn't understand an order that I have placed several times a week at other locations. That's totally fine- I figured he was new. He grabbed his manager and asked her and she was extremely rude and condescending when she spoke with me and explained that she's worked at Starbucks for a long time and had never heard of someone ordering a "half caff" without stating "americano" after it. I told her I always just say "half caff" and they usually know it's americano but it's fine. She kept going on and on to the guy she was training to tell him that what I was saying isn't true. It was so odd. If she wanted me to say "Americano" afterward I have no problem specifying that. I was just letting her know I usually just say "half caff" and she said again "I've been with Starbucks for a long time and the other Starbucks you go to must be giving you something else!" Ummm no. My husband and I were dumbfounded. What does it matter? You asked me to specify and I specified. I only let her know as a matter of conversation that I usually just say "half caff." The whole exchange was weird and awkward and when I came up to the window three of the employees were standing there talking about us and laughing. What in the world? The manager has an issue. Today we tried it out again because we were passing through. They had a long line at the drive thru so we went inside and found signage that their inside registers were closed (it was 10 a.m.) we had to go through the drive thru or place a mobile order and pick it up in the drive thru. This location is a mess. We drove down the street to the Starbucks in Safeway and they were so kind and understood my order exactly. This manager is a problem. They can't seem to keep employees. Corporate should take a look at the manager and they'll probably see why there is such a high turnover rate here. read more

I've had good experiences with a couple of people at this location, but one of their employees (named Chris) should be giving a Master Class in customer service. Sometimes a single person can color your attitude for the entire day. Usually it's because they are such an inconsiderate a-hole. That's definitely not the case at this Starbucks (the one across from Save Mart, in Truckee). Chris has a way of connecting with customers such that you go to this Starbucks to interact with him as much as to buy coffee and breakfast sandwiches. I know lots of reviews have focused on irregular hours for this store. Because of labor issues, that problem is common to ALL businesses right now. I try to be understanding because the people who are actually coming to work are the ones getting bad reviews and bad attitudes from customers. THEY are the ones coming in at 5:00am and working long hours to make up for the extra workload. Love this place, and Chris's awesome attitude and sense of humor are good part of the reason why. read more

I'm very distraught with this Starbucks. This particular location happens to be one of my favorite places to go to when I'm in town. I am a visitor to Truckee, camping, and I need a place to connect to electricity and Wi-Fi. This Starbucks is always my go to place because the interior of the store is gorgeous and unique. Sadly they would not allow me to sit because of "staffing shortages". I'm not exactly sure what that means, it's not like someone has to seat me or wait on me. I went to drive thru on 3/26/23, I order a grande caramel frappe. When I arrived to my destination two minutes after I try the frappe and it was just liquid "not iced blend". I love this new Starbucks in Truckee, Ca. There is a lot of space to sit and they have a built in fireplace for those cold and snowy days to huddle up by. It's also a great place to meet up with a friend or study group. They have a great location right on the way to Squaw, and right across from O'Riley's, Savemart, and Village Pizzaria. This Starbucks is also the only one in all of Truckee with a drive thru. The baristas are very friendly and nice. Plus my brother Chaz works there and he is the best barista/sift supervisor I've ever known. read more
