This is one of my favorite Starbucks locations in the city. It's open and cozy despite only having limited cushioned seating available. They serve the Reserve blends here if you want an exquisite and rare coffee experience... I honestly don't partake very often. The full regular menu is available if you want something predictable. Staff is nice, restrooms are clean and the food case is usually pretty full. Parking can be challenging on adjacent streets but your reward is a fresh metropolitan adventure. I love the old school touches in this vintage building the views of bustling city life outside of the floor to ceiling windows are also pretty legit. Check it out! read more

10/10 always! I've been coming to this location since I moved here a few years ago and it's always a highlight of my morning, especially during my work week. The staff is incredible. They are always friendly, welcoming, and want to ensure you have a positive experience in your interactions. They're always cleaning and always tidying up as it is a busy area. This is probably my favorite Starbucks location I've ever been to because I know my drink is always gonna be made perfectly and I'm always going to experience a friendly smile or conversation with the staff. read more

I came here two weeks ago and had a couple of nice drinks. I've been here a few times and enjoy that it's a spacious store. That said, with a couple of kids in tow, I found a massive 7 or 8 color gay flag up a little off putting, It wasn't pride month. I just find a massive flag on the wall a little heavy handed, much Iike I would feel if I saw something of similar size representing say Christianity or Islam or anti-LBGQT rhetorics. It's too much. I'm frequently at a number of Starbucks stores Nationwide, but between the massive flag here that greeted myself and the kids, and the gentleman in a skirt working there walking around cleaning, it just left a bad taste. My wife and I stopped by here after visiting the Powell Bookstore. This Starbucks is right across the street so it was convenient for us. When we walked in, there wasn't a line but we looked for a table first. After we found one and my wife went back to the cashier, there was a line of already 6 people. So she decided to place a online order of her Blonde Vanilla Latte. It said the drink would be ready within 5 minutes. After 5 minutes pass, they never announce her name. She waited another 5 minutes before going to the barista to ask about her drink. Once she did that, the barista brought the drink from behind the counter and not where the mobile pickup sign was. So we waited longer than we should've. They have outside seating here but no one sat there and I could see why because of the homeless people around. read more

I love my Starbucks? Located at the corner of SE Powell and 28th Place. The service is so professional and accommodating. They make a great Latte and it's a nice space to work or watch the world go by. My only complaint is that once in a while my 12 ounce latte is more like 8 - 10 ounce. but for the most part they get it right! read more

This Starbucks is one of the nicest ones in the neighborhood. The premises is huge , clean and well stocked .Lots of big windows , the seating is very comfortable and there is lots of it. Multiple charging spots near seats is also a great touch .I have spent a lot of afternoons here with my stash of books from Powell`s next door . Went to Reserve Starbucks ; probably not again . Seemed to be closed early on Saturday , store was very busy about 11:30. asked for New Reserve coffee product ground wanted to know if I could try the second new reserve , and was told yes . I also showed a coupon for 50% off cold drink , abd afterAsking about cold brew, I was told not available as it was not working in the store(???) Order person said I could get a frappachino on the coupon . Moved down to pickup area . Waited almost 20 minutes for everything . While my frappachino could be prepared by one of 3 baristas, order person had to do my reserve stuff. 3 orders after mine , a customer received a cold brew. Hunh? I had to ask again ; was told service restored. When I protested, o was told I could get what I really wanted , but by that time I was not happy , abd just wanted out of chaos in the store. Needless to say , I was charged full price for my cold drink. I don't think anything was worth the extra distance to get a Reserve store I tried my sample reserve coffee and it had not much taste . Haven't tried the Reserve that I had ground for my home use. I really hope it comes out better than everythin else! read more

Awesome Huge Beautiful Huge Awesome Store :) SITREP Hanging out in Portland with friends before hitting the Shadowplay Club event at the Fez Ballroom. This is nice inexpensive chill spot for the hour we wait. THE SETUP The size of this Starbucks on impressive and has lots going on for it - in my mind, almost rivals the Starbucks on Olive Way on Capitol Hill in Seattle. More specifically: * Lots of wood varnished tables in a decidedly Pacific Northwest Style. * Open late - 11PM - Holy Hell! * The Clover machine is humming since it's making my Tall Blonde Roast. As I discovered at the large Monterey Peninsula Starbucks, earlier this year, the Clover makes the process of brewing my roast a lot tastier with less aftertaste. * The WiFi is screaming fast * The bathrooms are immaculate and clean THE LOWDOWN Excellent late evening coffee stop before heading on to your next evening fun stop. read more

I know Portland is Stumptown territory, but Starbucks is just as ubiquitous there as it is in Seattle. This Starbucks near Powell's and Whole Foods in the Pearl District is hands down the most fanciest Starbucks that I have ever visited. This location is one of the concept Starbucks stores. Here you can find individual Clover machine brewed cofee as well as microbrew beer and wine. The coffee selection is more extensive than your typical location as they have Starbucks Reserve coffee selections to choose from. They cost more than the regular brew, but you will notice a difference in the quality and taste of the coffee. Had a cup of the Nicaragua Diamond ($2.95 for grande). Although it took longer than usual since it is individually brewed, it was worth the wait. This coffee is strong, but the flavor is not overwhelming. In addition to serving great coffee, there is tons of seating here. There is outdoor seating along with big tables, little tables and chairs. This is a good place if you are looking to unwind as well as a good place to study since it is so large while using the wi-fi. I really like the ambiance here since it is has a bit of a darker interior aesthetic than the regular stores. Even if you are loyal to Stumptown and won't drink any other coffee except, I think it is worth visiting this Starbucks just to view the beautiful modern design of this location. read more

I mean, it's a Starbucks. You either like the coffee or you don't. I like it, and the customer service here is good like with most Starbucks. The reason for 3 stars? Starbucks has a fairly liberal and generous policy in terms of basically letting anyone come in and do anything in their store, even if you don't buy a drink. This location has many symptoms of that policy gone awry. This location is flat out LOADED with homeless people, body odor, people nodding off & passed out in the seats, people nursing a water while charging their phones & beat up laptops, abused bathrooms, etc, etc. It's a shame because this location used to be so nice when it first opened. I generally only come here when all the other Starbucks have closed as this one is open later. The employees are great and I do enjoy the coffee, and that's really the most important part of all this. read more

This is one of the nicest Starbucks stores I've ever been to (and I've been to plenty!). It is a "Reserve" location, so they serve some swanky foods and wines and all. They have some merchandise for sale (specifically, some tumblers) that I've not seen in any other Starbucks stores. The friendly guy behind the counter (I think his name was Eric) said this was the flagship Portland Starbucks, and I could totally see why. The lay-out is open and warm, in an upscale "lodge" type of motif, with containers of coffee beans suspended on high on the warm wooden walls, and dim, calming lighting. Very relaxing atmosphere - the kind of place I'd love to bring a good book to and just read and drink coffee or tea all day. And how convenient, to have Powell Books just steps away! There is ample seating around tables and at a seating bar, too. There also appeared to be a lot of outlets, and I saw lots of folks with plugged-in laptops. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to coffee shop, for sure. read more

Definitely the most hipster Starbucks I've ever been to. The leather chairs, layout and decor, upscale rustic vibe, beautifully stained and lacquered wood bar top makes this more hipster than your traditional Starbucks. This just happens to be the first Starbucks location test store to serve wine, beer, cheese plates, bacon wrapped dates, and a whole host of other items you wont normally find at Starbucks. Located directly across the street from Powell's bookstore, we stopped in for a late night tea before heading back to Eugene. Even though many of the stores on the block were already closed, we were glad to see the lights on here. I don't go to Starbucks often as I don't drink coffee but my friend "needed" to stop into this Bucks to get a steamer before we headed off to Powell's. The general look and décor of this Bucks is a lot different than most. The seat area is slightly removed from the mainly coffee-making area. The whole place has a dark mysterious feel as the walls are back and there are splashes of natural light coming in from the high ceiling of the atrium and from off the street whereas there is hardly a need for overhead lighting during the day. I am still amazed that the baristas can remember the long winded orders of the customers with their half soy mocha this and the nonfat vanilla decaf that with two shots of the other. They were all friendly and gracefully moving around as if a dance ensued scooping and grinding and pouring along the way. I had to use the loo and they have it locked with a pass code. This is probably to keep nonpaying customers out of the bathroom as well as minimize the amount of vagrants and random homeless people coming in and using the bathroom as a place to wash up. Sad as it sounds, it's for good measure and to probably keep up certain food handling practices. Although, when I got to the bathroom there was a man in there that I think I caught him by surprise as he was washing his armpits and upper torso. He hurriedly gathered his things and left the bathroom but left a crispy musky odor behind as a treat. *sarcasm* All in all this is a really nice Bucks, and even though my friend was the one spending the money, I had a nice time as well. I came across this location on accident. I was at the Whole Foods and decided to take the street car to my bus stop. Before the car came I decided to get my usual unsweetened iced tea. I was shocked at how long the line was and how swank the inside was. I'd never seen such a nice Starbucks before. I also saw that they had wine, which was unusual also. They offer real food and live music in the evening. I didn't order wine or food and there wasn't music so I can't include those as pluses to my current rating. I will update this review if I do come in the evening. The service wasn't as speedy as some of the other locations, but it was busy so I will give them another chance. read more

There are so many Starbucks around Portland -- this is one of the nicest locations. And they have "reserve" selections, too, which I've never tried. Lots of cozy seating, it's always warm (a must for my coffee shops!), and there are lots of spots to plug in. For those of you who are curious -- they apparently no longer allow non-service dogs inside the front of the store anymore. My husband and I used to bring our dog in every morning, and I would wait on the bench at the front near the door with my dog while my husband ordered. Today one of the employees asked me to wait outside because he wasn't a service dog. She was very kind about it, and I think it's a totally fair policy, but I've seen plenty of non-service dogs in there before (even going right up to the counter). Perhaps they are enforcing the service-animal policy more strictly now. They have plenty of outdoor, dog-friendly seating. read more

I need to give HUGE props to a very nice young man working here on the night of 12/14/16. I think his name was Adam (it could be another name with 4 letters). It was the night of the ice storm. My dad called my mom to say he crashed his truck out front of a Starbucks on 11th and Couch and needed her to call AAA. AAA was too busy, but she couldn't call my dad back to tell him because he doesn't have a cell phone (he's 76; an old dog that can't be taught new tricks). We were frantic and I told my mom to call Starbucks, in hopes my dad was waiting inside because all the surrounding businesses had closed early. Starbucks was the last to close, at 8 pm. My mom said the gal she reached on the phone at Starbucks wasn't very helpful and just said "Nope, I don't see him" and hung up. That had my mom very upset. Irritated, I called. Only I got the sweetest young man. Like I said, I think his name is Adam (the manager there would have to check the schedule to see which guys worked til closing at 8 pm). Anyway, not only did he set the phone down and ask around (I could hear him) but he went outside and came back to give me descriptions of the cars nearby. None were my dads truck. That gave us hope that my dad was on the road and on his way home. "Adam" then took down my number and said he'd let my dad call from their phone if he came in. An hour later my mom called that Starbucks again and - luckily - got "Adam" again. He was so sweet and was all "Is this Norma? I talked to your daughter. She said you might call. I still don't see your husbands truck". Being that it was taking people 3-5 hours to get home that night, she was relieved that my dad's truck was truly not there. 90 minutes later, my dad pulled into their driveway and said a group of young men pushed him out onto the road and he was able to get home. Thanks to "Adam" for checking and being so kind and understanding on the phone. I always knew Starbucks hired very carefully and chose only the best of the best, and this young man proved it to me. I am a huge Starbucks fan, as is my mom, so buying coffee here now takes on a whole new meaning. We don't just love the coffee, pasties and sandwiches, but we love the customer service. Please let "Adam" (and management) know that his kindness was noticed and every much appreciated. He probably has no clue that his small act of kindness went a very long way with our family. read more

Not long ago, there weren't any Starbucks in the Pearl District. Now there's one at 11th & Lovejoy, 12th & Glisan, and this one at 10th & Couch. When walking through downtown Portland, you will see a Starbucks about every four blocks. They're all similar. The main difference is some have a variety of food available while others (like the one below the downtown Target) have very little available to eat. Bananas which cost around 25 cents in a grocery store are $1.25. Bagels that are 75 cents at Safeway (sometimes on sale for 50 cents) are $1.50. The most absurdly priced food items are the "bistro boxes", some of which contain half of a small sandwich cut into thirds to look larger, with a few carrots and apple slices, for $5.95. I understand why their prices are absurdly high. Some people sit there with a laptop for 4 hours or longer. Their corporate office has probably calculated the average space rent for each city and the average length of a customer stay when setting their prices. The number of customers who take their coffee drink to go reduces the average, so the prices are merely absurdly high rather than ridiculously outrageously high. Aside from food availability, we have store layout and size as a difference between Starbucks locations. There's one at SW 5th & Washington which has no tables or chairs at all. This one, however, is fairly large and has perhaps 60 seats available. The number of power outlets are a concern, since most people stay there long enough to run out their laptop battery. The Pioneer Place Starbucks has only one 2-plug electrical outlet available to customers. This one has perhaps 15. Bathroom access is also a concern, as caffeine drinks are a diuretic (they make you have to pee.) I know of only one Starbucks downtown that doesn't lock their bathrooms. I'm not telling which one it is because I'm sure it will quickly cause them to lock the bathrooms. So at all downtown Starbucks (except the ones that don't even have a bathroom, such as the SW 5th & Washington and SW 6th & Main locations) you have to buy something and get a receipt with the restroom code stamped on it, to be able to get into the restroom. The restroom doors have locks with electronic keypads that require you to enter the five digit code to unlock the door. After I've spent $12 on a lunch that doesn't even come close to being filling, I don't like having to ask for access to the restroom, which is what you'll have to do if you don't ask for the restroom code when you pay for your stuff. More often than not, when you pay for items at Starbucks, they ask if you want a receipt, or they don't give you a receipt at all. So be aware that not getting a receipt will mean not getting into the restroom. The worst thing about this Starbucks is that most of the tables are too small to use for comfortably working with a laptop. The laptop fits just fine but then there's barely space left for your food and drink, and nothing left at all for papers or books. And the tall stools are painful to sit on for longer than a half hour or so. They're probably a standard brand that all the Starbucks have but it's more noticeable here because the tall stools are almost all that 's available near the power outlets. I think they set it up that way on purpose to discourage people from staying there a long time. There's one very large table with comfy leather seats near a power outlet, but the last time I sat there, the table was RESERVED. And it wasn't even reserved for customers, it was reserved for some kind of Starbucks employee meeting. The store manager told me "this table is reserved at about 11:15 AM", implying I would have to move. This is the second time I've been told to move, somewhat rudely, at Starbucks stores. The first time was at the SW 4th & Washington store, where they were using my favorite table to stage deliveries. One would expect a request such as "could you please move for us?" but this has not been the case. On the other hand, they welcome thrice convicted (3 times, convicted) pedophile / boy scout rapist Timur Van Dykes, who sits on the leather bench seat in the NW corner of the store pretty much every day. Google search his name, be sure to get the correct spelling. Yes, I'm a grumpy old man, and I even have a complaint about Starbucks which isn't the employees fault. I recall a time when you could go to Starbucks to get some peace and quiet instead of risking screaming toddlers at a fast food or Dunkin Donuts type of place. This is no longer true. People bring kids to Starbucks now just like it's McDonald's Playland. read more
