This Starbucks location is probably one of my favourite locations in the whole of Amsterdam, although it still has the overpriced nature of Starbucks which I found to be the case in the Netherlands, on comparison to back home in the UK and other countries I've visited including France, Spain and Germany - I still found this store to stand out, simply through going above and beyond what one would expect from a Starbucks, including offering a restauraunt style food menu. The food however actually seems to be priced reasonably competitively, considering this is an airport and you do expect to pay more because of that.
Located at the far end of Amsterdam Schipol Airport, it is slightly quieter than the hustle and bustle one would regularly expect from an airport restauraunt or coffee shop, which could also be down to being on the upper floor overlooking the lounge, giving mildly impressive views on the rest of the airport with a decent amount of seating, this is in comparison to the other two branches of Starbucks at Schipol Airport, which I found to be small, cramped and have little or even no seating room, at Schipol Plaza and the other Lounge, the latter is closer to the departure gates.
As you'd expect, they offer the full Starbucks menu and then some, including a license to sell a basic selection of alcohol, and foods at certain types of the day which I've not seen sold at any other Starbucks stores, even Reserve Coffee bars.
Talking about the food in more detail, I have pictured one of the menus to go alongside this review and it was a menu which was surprisingly good, I didn't get the chance to ask what was gluten-free, due to being in a rush before my flight, but after having a less than satisfactory dining experience at Mcdonald's beforehand also in the airport, after discovering this it left me wishing I'd have known about this place before. Schipol Airport is huge and often hard to navigate, promoting this branch of Starbucks and showing the fact they do offer food to let people know before going out there way to come here and even knowing it is here, would be a great step to improve on, as well as possibly labeling what is gluten-free on the menu, alongside labels already in place for vegetarian and vegan.
The store also has a nice, modern twist to it and decent service as well - and it is probably one of the nicer and more quiet and relaxing places in the Airport to wait before your flight with an average quality coffee and some food - but be warned it is a long walk from here to the departure gates, although of course, it is after security it is probably one of the further places to the gates so this branch of Starbucks, unlike others at Schipol isn't aimed towards the to go market.
This branch of Starbucks could be signposted more to show how they differentiate between not just other places in Schipol, but other Starbucks too, but this location is one of my favourite places to relax at Schipol Airport, despite some flaws mentioned including drink quality not being outstanding, merely average and labelling of the menu and distance to the departure gates, I do feel this branch of Starbucks is pretty cool and a fantastic addition to Schipol Airport, and infact it is good enough to warrant a four-star rating, which sadly is one of the few times I've been able to give a rating of four-stars during my trip to Amsterdam towards the end of summer 2018. read more
