My husband and I stopped in to this Starbucks on Mother's Day while in the area. The service was friendly and prompt, and they were helpful and explaining the various teas to my husband. The Blackberry Sage Refresher was excellent and he ordered a second one Mango Dragonfruit Refresher and my latte was also good as well as their marshmallow crispy treat. It was quiet and relaxing and not too busy on the inside and the staff did a good job wiping down the tables and restocking the items needed for the beverages. I placed a mobile order and arrived shortly after submitting it. Instead of simply asking me to wait, employees made sarcastic comments over the speaker and then wrote "have a day" on my cup. The tone was clearly intentional. It's disappointing to see this level of immaturity in a customer-facing role. A basic level of professionalism shouldn't be too much to expect. read more

Drive thru service was amazing today! I got a venti green tea matcha latte with soy milk (so good if you like matcha) and whoever was at the window was so nice! I forgot their name but they were actually asking about my day and what I do and it was very sweet and kind they went out of their way to do that! It pains me to update my review to a lower star rating, but it's been a long seven years since I've last left my thoughts on this location and it's time for an honest update. First of all, this is still a really nice, clean, and friendly Starbucks location. For me, a Starbucks should be all of these things, but also quick, and respectful of folks time. The whole reason I'm updating my review is because the last time I went through the drive through at this spot, I was in the area, on my way to a meeting, and thought a little afternoon pick me up would be a great treat. I ordered on the app while at Fed Ex across the street, wrapped up my work there, and then popped over in line at the drive thru. Next thing I know I'm stuck in a drive thru watching the person at the front of the line chat with the cashier for at least 20 minutes. It really put a damper on my day (and my schedule!) so, just keep in mind that this location might move a bit slower in the afternoons and plan accordingly. read more

This Starbucks used to be so great with friendly employees. The last 3 times I've been here, no one has greeted or said hi. I've said thank you each time getting my drinks/food. Still, no one says anything back. Never a "you're welcome." I'll even go far enough to thank them and tell them to have a good day, and never any exchange of words back. Only giving them 2 stars because they do prepare my coffee and food. They could definitely work on customer service skills. Politeness and kindness go a long way to making people's day. For most Starbucks if you've been to one you've been to 'em all. This one is situated along the busy Metcalf Ave and you'll find cars snaking through the drive thru all morning long. I've found that this location is a lot quicker if you pop in for your coffee to go, which is a cinch as the parking lot is huge. Friendly enough staff and overall it's a pretty good Starbucks that'll get you caffeinated in short order. I find myself running errands a lot in this area so it comes through when I need it, which is what Starbucks are for! read more

Just paid $5 for a cup of ice. I get it. I ordered an iced coffee, but this girl put enough ice in that it was up past the lip of the cup then she only fills it 3/4 full of coffee. Terrible. Usually stop here on our drive to tennis. Will not return. Accused my little sister of recording them and made her cry. On top of that, they messed up our order and it cost 14 dollars for one large drink and one small drink. Not to mention, our drink was practically all ice. My husband and I come in here a lot after our workouts (right behind Starbucks is our snap fitness), and this location is generally good to us. I'm a gold card member (if you drink Starbucks a lot, you know what that means) so I have had my fair share of Starbucks experiences. A few times we had long waits, but I attributed that to either new employees (which seem to frequent the night staff as of late) or obnoxious customers. (Seriously, you have to buy 12 Starbucks mugs in boxes RIGHT now?!). Anyway, I had the same issue one night, as Karen's review also had, and that is why they don't get 5 stars. At 8pm I asked for a cup of decaf and get the response "we don't have any brewed," then they gave me the option of a pour over and I said ok. So, while the barista was doing a pour over, the (what I assume, was the night manager) asked if she could make me a decaf americano instead. Ugh, ok fine. So, that is what I had. I like americanos, so it was fine. But, I'm going to have to agree with Karen, who doesn't have a decaf batch brewed at a coffee house (especially at night)?! And secondly, why is this common practice at this location?! Obnoxious! Hopefully next time I ask, they have it. Otherwise they will lose another star! read more

Love this location. It's the closest one to my house and after some trial and error I've come to figure out that drive-thru is actually *faster* than walking in. I've tried that stunt before and for some reason or another (probably because the visual of a stacked-up drive-thru can drive customers away) the drive-thru is faster. Yesterday I got into a line that was 8-deep and I was through in roughly 5 minutes with my java chip frapp. Have been here many times and have sat indoors and out and it's always been clean and friendly. PS There is a lady who works on Saturday mornings who calls everyone "dear" or "darling." She gets away with it because she's old and sweet. read more

Went in yesterday and ordered 2 drinks. The iced one came out about 5 minutes after I ordered. The hot drink took 15 minutes because "the ticket machine was jammed" an our ticket was "misplaced". Literally 3 people got their drink before ours and the barista didn't even bother asking why we were standing there. If my husband didn't go over there an ask for his drink we probably would of still been standing there longer then we needed to. They Didn't even comp us for their mistake but let us stand there extra 15 minutes. This store seriously isn't what it use to be. They have went down hill since the remodel. I have frequented this Starbucks several times in the past several months. The drive thru is mediocore at best. The first time I noticed this was when I ordered a grande eggnog latte and was served a tall latte, since there were six cars in the drive thru behind me and I used a gift card to pay, I let it slide. It just seems that the wait to get through the drive thru is not worth the time. 02-03-11 - Had to change my rating to a one. Went through the drive thru yesterday to redeem my coupon for a free beverage for my b-day. The rude barista asked me my age. Although I enjoyed my Venti Carmel Macchiato, the two guys working the drive thru window were far from professional. The other guy commented on how his mother-ion-law was 29 for the past 30 years. Yes, I'm reviewing a Starbucks. Housed in a completely gutted former White Castle, the Coffee House That Everybody Loves to Hate set up shop here a couple years ago. The result is one of the friendliest (seriously), most comfortable (I'm not joking), and convenient (natch) Starbucks around. And bonus points for staying open till 11pm nightly. That's huge for this part of Johnson County, where most places seem to darken around nine. Oh, and the wifi is free. I hate to say it, but this place is lightyears ahead of locally-owned Dunn Bros. across the street in terms of service and consistency. If I'm hankering for a java fix around 90th and Metcalf, this is where I spend my money. read more

They are cookie-cutter imitations of one another with the same selection of coffees and teas, the same furniture, and the same display of Starbucks mugs, coffees and assorted goodies. I thought that at least until I got to Kansas. I had never seen service like I did at this location. The hostess who worked at the counter in the early morning hours this Wednesday sets this Starbucks apart. She was clearly in charge of getting customers' orders quickly, accurately and with ease. She was pleasant, yet she was fast. I did not have a chance to get her name, but she gets the credit for my five-star rating. Today I'll return to my usual Starbucks in Philadelphia where things just don't move at the same pace. I'll know I am not in Kansas anymore! read more

Sitting on a comfortable couch with the smell of coffee wafting about you, pretty much makes for the best sort of Saturday you can imagine. I have not one but two great experiences at this certain location of Starbucks. Let me give you list of the positives of this location, because all are not the same. 1. Their hours, they stay open as late as midnight on the weekends, and 11 on M-Thursday. 2. Their seating....they have great couches and chairs available, and outside seating galore. Their tables are all crunched in a corner, but they are big and could be pushed together for big groups. 3. Their staff...friendly and quick. They seem to enjoy each other and their job. 4. For all those that like to leisurely enjoy their time in a coffeeshop this is a great one, because their are many others that are like you. read more

I generally really like Starbucks, but this particular location is one that I stay away from. I used to come here somewhat regularly in the evenings, since they stay open an hour later than a lot of other Starbucks stores, but I have grown tired of their consistently mediocre service. I can't remember having any problems with the quality of the coffee or other drinks; it's just that the baristas are not very helpful or friendly. There hasn't been any one particular major incident, just consistently lousy service, like baristas forgetting to make drinks or ignoring customers. Considering how many other Starbucks there are, you're better off just looking for a different location. read more

I downloaded the Starbucks App so that I could find late night locations in a pinch. This is one of the few that closes at 11pm on weekdays. I ran by to pick up a Chai tea latte on a particularly chilly night. They also have a drive through, which is always my first choice on a frosty night. Even at 10:45, there were all the usually coffee groupies hanging out on their laptops, looking for anyone to talk to. Whatever...mine is always "to go." The staff seemed to know everyone in the place and they were super friendly to me. Small, but fast and friendly! read more

Normally I am a fan of this location but it's outrageous to have to wait over 10 minutes for a Tea that is literally just hot water in a cup because I didn't order on the app - I ordered in person. I've been to plenty of Starbucks in and around KC, but every time I was around this Starbucks, I already had a coffee in hand. Not this time. I found myself sitting in Metcalf traffic jonesing for some caffeine. The drive thru line was insane, and even though I read in reviews that it moves fairly fast, I really wanted my straight up Pike Place, so I opted for inside. I was glad I did. The friendly staff quickly had that cup of goodness in my hand. I liked the inside space, and I noticed they have a nice outdoor seating area also. It's a bigger sized Starbucks with plenty of seating where you can plop down, pull out your laptop, and look like your working on something really important. So if you find yourself needing that caffeinated jolt, this is as good of a Starbucks as any. read more

Today was my final straw with this location. The girl in the drive-thru was so rude! My very berry tasted legit like water. The girl argued with me when I asked for the cookie. She snapped at me when I said it wasn't in my bag telling me it was because she put it there herself. I did end up finding it melting in the bag with the hot food so thank you for letting me you are the one who doesn't separate the hot and cold! Usually this location is a hit and miss when it comes to customer service but today was a miss. I own a business down the street but I will drive down to 95th or avoid them all together and go to Homers where they appreciate your patronage. read more

Stopped by for the first time in a couple of years and the service was awful. The girl that rang me up was very nice and helpful. They weren't busy at 3 in the afternoon. I did have like 2 other people behind me in the lobby. The girl (Ally) that was making drinks didn't seem like she wanted to be there or that she was in any kind of rush to make drinks. The two people that ordered after me received their drinks before I got mine. I waited 15 minutes to get my drink. It's not like it was something fancy it was a simple grande vanilla bean creme.
