I'm sure I must be one of the last people to order from Starbucks on the app, but I had not done it before. I ordered through the app thinking that I could choose the time of pick up, but at this location you cannot. So I missed my time of pick up by almost an hour. I called and asked how I could remedy this and they were very helpful. They even knew my name because I was the one that hadn't picked up the order. I occasionally still have hope for this Starbucks as all other Overland Park locations are so efficient, but no, this location can only help one person fully in a drive thru at a time, before they will even take the next order, it is disturbing that the staff cannot figure out how to separate drive thru orders. Please hire new management that knows something about efficiency, this Starbucks is in desperate need of help!!!! Staff enough employees. I decided I had enough time to get a drink before an appointment--there was no line by the speaker and only two cars between the speaker and the window. Fifteen minutes later, I am stuck the drive thru and still haven't ordered. When I finally received my drink, it was the wrong size and I had to ask for the food item I had also ordered. The person working told me there were only two of them working. Come to find out when I got to my appointment late, that my hair dresser said she will never go back to that location and proceeded to tell me a story that also included understaffing and a worker ignoring customers who ordered food items because it wasn't her job. Neither time was the location busy, but they couldn't handle the business they had. Where is the management? read more

This starbucks sucks. I went there this morning they messed up the size of one of our drinks then didn't label the other three so they got mixed up and they added cold foam to the wrong one. They also forgot our water. The staff was confused and didn't seem to care that they got it wrong the service was very bad. Starbucks is corporate coffee and I always know what I'm going to get when I go to Starbucks or go through a Starbucks drive through. When I choose to go to Starbucks it is because I'm craving consistency. Although Oscar Wilde said that consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative, sometimes, especially when it comes to coffee, I want something that is palatable and is going to taste like it is suppose to taste. I also know what kind of caffeine kick I'm going to get when I drink a Starbucks coffee beverage. So there are good things about consistency too! As drive-thus go, this is one of the best, I've experienced. It's clean, it moves quickly and the window server/barista is always friendly but does not make insulting comments or ask inappropriate questions. (see my review of another Starbucks in this market) This particular Starbucks is on my usual driving route and I get better coffee here than at Latte Land down the road. Today the drive through was particularly busy and when I got to the window to pay for my latte and the barista handed it to me, and said it was on the house because of my wait. I did not think my wait was particularly long and if Starbucks has a policy on wait time, this is a good thing. I must say that it made my afternoon to receive my Venti latte for free and I will definitely be doing business at this Starbucks in the future because they have the customer service thing so well organized. read more

Serendipitous. That's how I would describe my fortunate encounter with this suburban heartland Starbucks. If you haven't been to modern middle America, this is the perfect representation of it. Everything in this neck of the woods is new: new homes, new stores, new roads, new shopping centers, new gas stations - you name it, it's new. This emerging southern frontier of Kansas City is a perfect example of the pre-mortgage meltdown boom days when developers couldn't build new neighborhoods fast enough. And along with new neighborhoods a need to satisfy the unending thirst for $4 beverages. The result is a bounty of new Starbucks - this being one of the nicer ones. This freestanding Starbucks unobtrusively blends in to the tightly zoned aesthetic of Leawood, Kansas. I've been to many Starbucks over the years but admittedly, this is one of the nicer suburban ones. My biggest regret was I didn't have as much time to spend there as I would have liked. If I lived in KC, this would be my home-away-from-home where I'd read the Sunday Times while enjoying a vente coffee or two... I'd be one of their 'regulars' with a favorite chair who knew all the staff. Alas, I had to move on - more cities and towns to discover, but I'll be back, that I promise you. read more

Terrible. If I could give less stars I would. We pulled in right at 758. They told us just a minute. Then at 804 they said "sorry we closed at 8" and would not serve us. We then had to wait in line over 15 mins for the two cars ahead of us. (There were also cars behind us so we couldn't back up) Terrible customer service, esp when there is a coffee shop on every corner. We won't be back and don't recommend anyone else coming- go to another one! read more

Even during these times special accommodation could be made for the cross country runners of Overland Trail Middle school who at the end of each season reward their hard work by running to your location and getting drinks and you couldnt even accommodate them. One of the nicer Starbucks I've been to with a beautiful outdoor patio. On the outside, it looks huge, but don't let that fool you. The inside space is very small with limited seating. The staff was very friendly and made conversation with customers when it wasn't busy. However, it did take some time for me and other customers to get our drinks. I don't know if management figures it can "get by" with less staff, or that they now realize that slow service won't deter people from buying their coffee here, or whatever. But WOW! It literally doesn't matter what time of day, what day of the week, expect a minimum 20-minute wait in the drive thru! I have visited many different Starbucks but this one really outshined so many other locations based solely on their customer service. For me, this can make or break my experience in a brick-and-mortar location. Luckily, I decided to order inside as opposed to braving the ridiculously long line for the drive thru. There wasn't wait at all and I was greeted by the most pleasant cashier. I didn't get her name, but she was so friendly and positive for the day which was very enjoyable for me as a customer. For someone who has worked with the general public and retail for over 15 years, it's a relief to receive the same generosity and positive attitude during such a demanding season. I usually opt for locally owned coffee shops, but I was in a bind and ended up here. Of course it was prime time- 9am on a Friday and everyone and their mother (including me) were being lazy and doing the drive through. It was impressive how fast and efficient the line was. I got my order almost immediately. The staff were incredibly friendly and jovial. I even ordered the wrong drink and they happily remade the drink I wanted in no time flat. The service here was easily 5 stars. And if you appreciate reliability (knowing your coffee drink will taste the same whether you're in Kansas, California, or anywhere else with a Starbucks), this is your jam. I only rated it 4 stars because it's not locally owned and that's a factor for where I spend my money. read more

Wow! I just had the best cappuccino! I ordered a "half caf" white chocolate cappuccino, and I devoured it within 5 minutes! I am by no means a "coffee person", I usually order a hot chocolate when I come here with my husband. But, I may have found a new drink! As I pulled up to the drive-thru I asked the barista which drink had the least amount of caffeine between the mocha, the latte and the cappuccino (too much caffeine makes my heart pound and race). He told me that they all have the same amount, but they can make decaf or half caf.... This was something I'd never thought of before... So I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did!! It was 24 degrees outside when I ordered my drink and it did the trick warming me up in no time!! I am thankful for the little caf/half caf lesson as well as the tasty warm beverage! I'm a huge Starbucks lover but this location is just ridiculously awful. Slow, watch lots of cross contamination happening, and there's never any seating. I have been 5 times in the last week, at different times of day, and 4 of those times I had to turn around and leave because there was no where to sit and talk. They clearly need to add more seating and I have no clue why they don't. There's a large outdoor seating area, which isn't available or comfortable for a huge chuck of the year- seems poorly planned and like wasted space. read more

Worst drive thru design EVER. The Lombard Street of drive thru's. I have been to the drive thru several times, always a wait. Today line was ridic so I went inside. There were only two people in front of me but still waited longer than I should have. Staff average. Coffee average. Long wait every time I go there. No matter it is walk in or drive thru. They have 5-6 staffs most of the time but still the service is rather slow. I went there Mon to Friday, same time in the morning, having the same coffee for more than 9 months. None of the staffs remember my order. I was living in nyc and different countries. The only saving grace to earn this Starbucks one star is Yelp not allowing 0 stars. I work across the street from this Starbucks and frequent it regularly. The service is always extremely slow and the line is always long. Being with limited time I decided to go in one day in hopes it would speed the process up as the line was wrapped around and out of the drive thru lane like usual at 12:50 in the afternoon. Upon arriving I walked right up to the counter and had my order for two iced coffees taken. Within a few minutes I received my first iced coffee and assumed the second would be coming up next. After waiting for 5 minutes and watching 3 drinks be made after mine and handed to waiting customers, I asked the barista if my next drink was being made. He proceeded to find the cup that went with my order and tell me that it was rang up as hot and placed the hot cup in a plastic cup and set it back on the counter behind several other cups. I then asked him if he could make my other drink as I had already received my other one almost 10 mins prior at that point and needed to get back to work. The barista whose name was Harrison Smith, copped an attitude with me telling me my drink was in line and wouldn't be jumping ahead and that my other drink was made sooner because another barista had chose to make it. I let him know that it seemed off she would make one drink and not both if she was going to complete an order. At that point Harrison became nasty asking me if I worked there or had ever been a barista and understood how coffee was made. One would think it would stop there but it doesn't. He continued to run his mouth at me until I finally told him to stop talking and asked another barista who had come to take over for Harrison to make my drink. It was clear that the other employees were embarrassed by Harrison's behavior and the way he was speaking to a customer. I spoke with the manager Mechele who seemed like she was interested but the fact that she missed the whole situation because she was in the back was a little frustrating. Not only is the service less than sub par at this location, the drinks are made inconsistent on a regular basis. All I can say is get it together because I have been a barista before and I know it's not that complicated, especially when you have specific instructions on how to make each drink. Sadly I will make the extra 10 min drive to the Antioch location where the drive thru is quick and efficient and the drinks are usually spot on and the employees are always friendly. read more

I always go inside this location because the drive thru setup is absolutely terrible. That being said I will admit that the staff is awesome, and the patrons are in many cases "regulars" that you will see day in and day out. I love this place. Today in particular I saw the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in Kansas City. Professional, brunette, flawless.... I can't wait to go back tomorrow!!! read more
