    Exterior View and Patio

This location had a nice patio with a good view of greenery, but the inside dining area was somewhat small. The service at the counter was friendly and cheerful, but somewhat slow as they tried to keep up with the onslaught of customers. Not bad.

    One of my favorite Starbucks!

Serendipitous. That's how I would describe my fortunate encounter with this suburban heartland Starbucks. If you haven't been to modern middle America, this is the perfect representation of it. Everything in this neck of the woods is new: new homes, new stores, new roads, new shopping centers, new gas stations - you name it, it's new. This emerging southern frontier of Kansas City is a perfect example of the pre-mortgage meltdown boom days when developers couldn't build new neighborhoods fast enough. And along with new neighborhoods a need to satisfy the unending thirst for $4 beverages. The result is a bounty of new Starbucks - this being one of the nicer ones. This freestanding Starbucks unobtrusively blends in to the tightly zoned aesthetic of Leawood, Kansas. I've been to many Starbucks over the years but admittedly, this is one of the nicer suburban ones. My biggest regret was I didn't have as much time to spend there as I would have liked. If I lived in KC, this would be my home-away-from-home where I'd read the Sunday Times while enjoying a vente coffee or two... I'd be one of their 'regulars' with a favorite chair who knew all the staff. Alas, I had to move on - more cities and towns to discover, but I'll be back, that I promise you.

    Clock and line

Terrible. If I could give less stars I would. We pulled in right at 758. They told us just a minute. Then at 804 they said "sorry we closed at 8" and would not serve us. We then had to wait in line over 15 mins for the two cars ahead of us. (There were also cars behind us so we couldn't back up) Terrible customer service, esp when there is a coffee shop on every corner. We won't be back and don't recommend anyone else coming- go to another one!

This Starbucks has the longest lines in the area. It takes 20 minutes or more to get through their drive through.

The iced latte I got was delicious, and I was so glad that they had decaf espresso as an option since I can't typically have caffeine. I also love that they have baked goods that are both gluten free and vegan- as someone who is allergic to eggs, and who has family members who can't have gluten, this is a huge plus! (Note: I am unsure of their specific cross contamination risks, so be sure to ask staff for more details if needed). There were great seating options (I chose one of the couches, which was so comfy!), and the employees were all very friendly. Overall I definitely recommend this cafe and will be visiting again!

It's shaded because it's on the backside. I ended up getting an iced Blue Moon Latte, Full Moon sweetness and hot moon matcha to go. Both with oat milk. Their signature sweet cream and oak coffee was good. Since I asked for light ice, it was definitely more milk so the flavor was light, just a hint. My mom liked her matcha just fine.

They're popular for a reason! Sour cream crumb cake is absolutely worth the calories. Moist and tasty and lots of crumble on top. I always order my favorite Gao Wen tea (Hugo tea brand), it's got a deliciously complex flavor and with a splash of cream and stevia there's no better cup in town. My Favorite Breakfast Spot -- and Ode to My First Dog, Layla…read more McLain's Market has easily become my favorite breakfast place in KC. It's got that ideal coffee shop & chill vibe -- during the week you'll see adults working quietly on laptops, and on weekends it turns into a mix of families, kids, and regulars who clearly love the place. The staff is always friendly, and the self-serve water station is a nice touch. Coffee: I've tried the lattes twice and the Salted Market Cold Foam Cold Brew (Sway Coffee Roasters cold brew + market syrup cold foam) once. Both are good -- not life-changing, but solid. I actually don't come here for the coffee; I come for the food. Breakfast: Quiche (Veggie or Bacon & Sausage) - Comes with a side of parmesan arugula salad. The veggie version surprised me -- I usually go for meat, but this one wins for balance and flavor. The meat version is good too, just a bit salty. Veggie: 4.5/5 | Meat: 4/5 The Farm Sandwich - Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, veggies, cheddar, poblano spread, and avocado on a croissant. That croissanty, buttery base and poblano spread: Absolute chef's kiss. My mom and I both love this one -- buttery, filling, and comforting in every bite. 5/5 Pepper Jack Burrito - Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pepper jack cheese, and serrano sauce. Great kick from the sauce! If they toasted the wrap, it'd be a perfect 5/5 instead of 4/5. Chorizo Bowl - Over-easy egg, chorizo, sweet potatoes, quinoa, black beans, avocado, green onion + charred salsa. I'm usually not a quinoa fan (it's the "brown rice of health food"), but somehow they make it amazing. Sweet, savory, hearty -- the kind of dish that makes you forget it's healthy. A perfect brunch bowl. 5/5 -- honestly should be 6/5. Bakery Items: Carrot muffin and cinnamon donut -- both are light, perfectly sweet, and just the right size. 5/5 Layla's Last Breakfast This place also has sentimental meaning for me. On the day I had to say goodbye to my dog, Layla, I bought her breakfast from McLain's -- biscuits and gravy, and The Farm sandwich. That was her last meal before the vet came to our house. I'll never forget that she left feeling full and loved. So yeah, McLain's isn't just a café to me -- it's comfort, consistency, and a piece of my heart.

This place is truly amazing…read more One day my girlfriend and I entered this store and we were greeted by very friendly baristas. I haven't always been a big coffee drinker, but my girlfriend said there used to be a drink called the Hospital Hill. It's essentially the Honeycomb with Cinnamon. Ever since that day, I've been hooked (I prefer it made hot. Absolute game changer). Not only is the coffee good, but the staff is friendly, personable, and helpful which means a lot to me. There's a lot of staff to name, so I'll leave it off this review, but they have all been exemplary and I believe they make this place great. I highly suggest coming here and grabbing yourself a coffee. It's also a nice and relaxing environment to study or do homework. The lighting is dark enough that it's not interfering too much with whatever activity you're doing in the moment. I will definitely be returning here.

The amount I paid for the croissant and how large it appeared, you'd think it was filled with chocolatey goodness--it was disappointing to say the least, to find there were two measly strips inside; hardly worth the $5.75 I paid. The fact it came in an Ibis Bakery bag made me even more sad, thinking a reputable bakery would have lived up to its status. However, it's possible Ibis Bakery no longer has standards--so this part of a negative review is for them. Two stars for the pastry. :( The Roasterie Cafe in Leawood, however, was great! The coffee was delicious and the baristas were amazing. They helped me pick a new whole bean coffee and were friendly. As this was a grab and go effort, the place was busy, but I didn't stay, so as to the ambiance, about what you'd expect from a small cafe. Quaint but kind of packed. :)
