Place is filthy. Zero management. Who goes to a Starbucks to wait 25 minutes for two drinks. Grilled cheese was the worst ever. Not toasted and greasy. Just hope we don't get sick! Help has zero personality unlike most Starbucks you go too. We were traveling and made the mistake of stopping here. As for ambiance nothing like filthy counters and surface areas to turn you off. I placed an order at 11:30am on the Starbucks app for two drip coffees.....not a Frappuccino or a latte....drip coffee. I stood inside that store until walking out with two coffees at 11:58am. I asked two staff in there what the hold up was, and they rudely told me that I need to wait as the tickets online print out up to 10 minutes later (no, they don't). I asked to speak to the manager and when told how crazy it was to wait that long for drip coffee along with being treated rudely, he told me I was threatening him. Childish, rude people in this place. I will NEVER be back. I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to the Charleston store. They at least know what customer service and respect are. read more

Glad we have a Starbucks in Mattoon! Very convenient for those us on the East Side of Town. Hard to hear conversations as the acoustics are not good, but that is the Starbucks way they build now. Used to be one of our favorite stops. Not sure what has happened but besides the rude, slow moving staff... you have to wait 20 minutes for a coffee! We won't make this a weekend stop anymore. This starbucks had a line in their drive through when we pulled up at 1:56 and they close at 2:00. There was a woman outside who rudely told us that they couldn't serve anyone else even though we had driven all the way from our house east of Charleston. The people here are always very nice, but I think this may be the slowest Starbucks in the United States. It doesn't matter how busy it is. It's slow every single time. I honestly think I could drive ~10 miles to the Charleston and have my drink in a shorter amount of time than waiting in a 4-5 car line in Mattoon. Plus they have the worst hours possible.
