Alright, I just used the word, "area", way too much. It's a typical coffee shop. It's a mom and pop place with freshly made-to-order drinks. The pastries are the same almost everywhere, and they're pretty good. They're some tables inside and seating outside. And around the side of the shop are more tables and chairs. It's a social media moment with the Mundelein mural as the backdrop which I suspect was the point. There is a huge chalkboard calendar inside that shows upcoming events. I saw one employee filling it out when I was there and I asked if they had book clubs meeting there. She said only Bible study. She wanted the owner to host book clubs, but apparently he is only interested in hosting Bible studies. Seems like a missed opportunity to me, but what do I know, I only do marketing for a living. It's a nice spot especially in the warmer months when you can enjoy the outdoor seating, otherwise, I think one can skip and try somewhere else where the inside decor is more comfortable and inviting.

The place was quiet, the decor is chic and stylish, and there's plenty of parking. It seems like a great spot for meetings, catching up with friends, or just hanging out with your laptop. They also stay open late, which is a huge plus! I ordered the Cloud Matcha and absolutely loved it! The matcha tasted high quality and had the perfect amount of sweetness--not overly sweet, which I really appreciate. It was such a refreshing drink for a hot summer day. Did I mention how cold it was inside? Seriously, they keep it COLD in there! Definitely bring a light layer if you're planning to sit for a while. I'm a matcha snob, and honestly, the matcha drinks I've tried around the area haven't quite been up to par. This one definitely hit the spot, so Haraz is officially going on my list as my new go-to when I'm craving matcha. Service was friendly, and there's lots of parking. I imagine it can get pretty crowded later in the day, but I really enjoyed the quiet morning atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other items on the menu!

We got in right before the rush, but felt the need to hurry and order because folks were steadily coming in right behind us. We decided to try one of their chicken sandwich, and one of their beef sandwiches. Both were in a croissant and were heated up, it was absolutely delicious. Sort of like a kebob in a sandwich, full of flavor and not dry at all. To drink, I got the mango cloud matcha, and it was so good! It sort of reminded me of a mango sticky rice with matcha. But I was told to come back and try the Banana latte, so I definitely will get that next time. Overall, a really pretty coffee shop and the staff was super friendly and answered all of the questions including giving recommendations. The parking lot gets kinda crazy during busy times but there is parking all the way around the building so be sure to circle around.

TLDR - The Black Forest Coffee drink is great!…read more Full Review First to note: I'm a big coffee person and love drinking my coffee black in the morning. I will almost always pick black coffee over lattes, cappuccinos, and other classic combinations that would potentially mask the flavor notes of good quality coffee. The exceptions are specialty coffee drinks that have some unique combination of ingredients (aside from just different syrup flavors). But even then, I admit I'm a bit wary of having tried many cafes where these specialty drinks end up being too sweet. I've passed by Cherry & Coffee Cafe many times in Hawthorn mall in the past without giving it a second thought because of the very thing I mentioned above - likening it to cafes with overly sweet drinks. On this particular day, which happened to be Father's Day, I was in the area and looking for something caffeinated in the afternoon. I happened to glance at Cherry & Coffee Cafe's menu on google and saw something called "Black Forest Coffee", which was described as being made with chocolate syrup and maraschino cherries. This sounded intriguing enough that I ventured over to give it a shot. It somehow didn't click in my mind that this wasn't black coffee (I had interpreted/misread the description as having notes of chocolate and cherry). It finally hit me when I was ordering my drink and the barista asked me which milk I wanted (it's also quite possible I got confused because "coffee" was in the name instead of "latte"). I decided to go ahead with my order anyway since I had already made the trip over. Long story short, I was VERY surprised that the Black Forest Coffee drink was both not too sweet and quite good! My wife is especially picky with sugar levels (think Kung Fu Tea's milk tea with 0% sugar because she thinks the boba already adds enough sugar) and even she enjoyed it. So thanks to this happy accident, I think I will be back in the future to try their other offerings! Full description of Black Forest Coffee (found on my receipt): Espresso, chocolate sauce, maraschino cherries juice, shaved chocolate, maraschino cherries, milk or alternative milk
