Glass floor entrance! Good thing I wasn't wearing my kilt.

A unique Starbucks with a glass floor the add some thrill. The only one I've seen. Other than that, pleasantly reliable and predictable.

The new Starbucks has finally opened in the City Hall Square in Copenhagen. You might not see it immediately because of the construction work in the square. It is located in a corner, on the ground floor of the Netto supermarket. Which brings up a curious thing: when you enter this Starbucks and you're wearing a skirt, beware of the people in the downstairs Netto, a part of the Starbucks floor is glass, so you can see and be seen by the Netto customers. There is some seating space, not plenty but enough (I didn't see if there's an upper floor with more seating space) and a little corner selling the typical Starbucks mugs and cups, coffee, etc. The rest is also typical Starbucks, menu, servings and prices so you know what to expect if you know the chain. Since there is some construction work going on in the square just in front of the Starbucks, it is not ideal for people watching but it's OK to seat and relax for a bit or to take your coffee to go.

It's astounding the amount of games in this place. They are everywhere! There is even a "Game Guru", seated somewhere in the center of the cafe. You can ask him/her any game-related questions. They can recommend the perfect game for you to play and they even instruct you on how to play. There is a QR code at each table you can use to order drinks/foods. They will bring it to the table. They serve coffee, beer, wine, cocktails. They also serve some light bites such as nachos and nuggets. 5 stars - Nice ambiance. Come play a game, have a drink, listen to music, and enjoy the artwork.

We went into the first entrance we saw, which led us into a small basement space with a counter to order drinks, and a little back room with more games. To me, it was a pretty typical gaming cafe - nothing remarkable. We played some card games for a bit, sipped our tea, and then we headed upstairs to leave... but THEN, we realized the actual MAIN section of the cafe was upstairs, and it was huge. There were several copies of each game neatly stacked, and went on forever. Every game you could think of seemed to be on the shelved. They had cute merchandise, too. We were both bummed we didn't realize it before, but I bookmarked this place so that I can return next time I am in Copenhagen. If you love gaming, this place is a must.

The seating is first come, first serve and you order at the bar like most cafes in Denmark. The ambiance was so cozy. We ordered a cafe latte and a mocha latte. Both were delicious and creamy and they came with little ginger cookies on the side. We also ordered the 3 mini veggie burgers and they were so yummy! And actually more the size of normal burgers in the US so I was pleasantly surprised. The burgers came with the softest and tastiest potatoes I've ever had. Whether you're looking for a romantic evening coffee with your special someone, a cozy catch up with a friend, or some R&R on your own - this cafe is a must go to if you're in Copenhagen !

The mushroom frittata (I think it was) was absolutely delish- no rubbery egg taste, lovely mushies. I was worried about the carrot salad because it looked like it was tossed in something creamy, but it was quite good. This also included a really rich and thick tomato soup, and a small toast w/ goat cheese and a rhubarb jam, and some sweet treat- I'm guessing made with mascarpone. Hubbies sandwiches were good, though I've never seen mushrooms in a chicken salad before (luckily they were big enough for him to pick out so I got those too). Only reason to dong them a Star was due to the chaotic way and wait to order. There was one queue downstairs and two people intermittently taken orders. But, the people taking the orders also were making fancy coffee drinks and doing other stuff, so it was very staccato. When we were next in line, both people ringing people up went missing for quite a few minutes and then a newcomer went straight over to the 2nd register to ask a question, as if the people in the longer queue weren't waiting, and because the guys behind the counter were so all over the place they couldn't keep track of that. Then it turns out if you want to sit upstairs, you have to order up there, so off we went to wait in another queue. After you order, you take a number to your table and we thought they forgot about us, and asked a bus boy to check in for us and he returned with our food. Oy! Also: They do have English menus on request, but not typically on the table. Excellent food and ambience!
