Probably the Starbucks with the nicest views. Located inside the Centraal Station facing the water front, there is plenty of seating for those looking to get a drink and wait for their train or bus. Staff speaks both Dutch and English. Unfortunately you can't use the US Starbucks app here (shouldn't the app be universal? I wish!) Not being able to use the app is annoying as Starbucks doesn't put their full menu on the menu board so you're not sure what you can order. For example, there is no iced coffee, only iced Americanos and iced lattes. Their refrigerated case was out of of stuff all 3 times I went here. As far as food, they have some unique to Netherlands items such as cheesecake (oddly, the slice with strawberry topping is slightly cheaper than the plain one.) It does get extremely busy due to the location but overall they move fairly quickly. Staff was perfect and the only drawbacks are due to Starbucks corporate decisions that make it difficult to order without the app. Also, because it's the Netherlands, there is no plastic and the paper cups aren't waxed - you need to drink your drink quickly because the cup itself starts to feel like it's getting waterlogged and soggy. MEH. AND MEH. UPSIDE This is standard STARBUCKS fair -- chairs and tables to sit, food and drink on one side, then counter, hot and cold beverages, order & name called out to collect your confection. The ambiance is pleasant enough -- though, according to one of my mates, its apparently EXCELLENT for people watchers. Located in a mainline trainstation, the footfall is excellent. Add to that The Netherlands builds integrated transport systems: train, ferry, bike paths, bike parking, metro and bus all come together in one place for convenient transfers. (Hello Britain? Hello America? You are 200 years BEHIND!) DOWNSIDES The coffee tables customers sit at: they are unusually low. That might fine for a little S&M (sit & model) while sipping coffee but its atrocious for digital nomads. Men struggle to squeeze legs under tables and the table height puts laptops awkwardly low etc) There are no toilet in the space. The only toilet is the (often overcrowded) public toilets about 150m away. Read previous line! And, they store operators often leave the front door open to "welcome" guests. This is a peculiar Dutch thing! Temperatures can be a bone rattling 5º C -- and the operators insist on leaving the front door wide open. One MIGHT think that customers shivering in heavy coats (except for the Dutch in shorts & t-shirts!) MIGHT indicate that it would be more hospitable to close the doors & keep the warmth in. (Editor Note: we recently learned that the "open door policy" often is driven by the barristas who complain of the heat around coffe machines. So they "don't care" and open doors for their comfort not that of patrons. Something wrong with the design of your stores, STARBUCKS!) The staff. How do I put this? They are pleasant enough..... and they are SLOW. Part of this is the fault of STARBUCKS for failing to staff the location properly. You are forewarned: rush hour and weekends are murder. The line often snakes to the door and it does not move quickly. Also? The barristas making coffee are often surly. Simple questions like "Excuse me, do you have serviettes? / Make I have more milk? / Where is the cinammon?" / etc are met with gritted teeth / pretending that they don't speak your language? / confused squints (like you are speaking an alien language & they have no clue what you are saying - see previous statement / the "too cool for school" annoyed look that you are disturbing their HUGELY important work ) SUMMARY Pretty standard "Starbucks", great eye candy, convenient, pleasant waterside location -- if you don't mind hiking it to the toilets and (potentially) freezing to death from bracing arctic breezes. read more

The place where you can wait for your train, enjoy a warm drink and gaze upon the architecture of the Central station. A Starbucks is a Starbucks alright, but this one is in a nice location with a balcony inside the train station. Comfy seats, good service, the usual drinks, nothing bad to say about this Starbucks. The entrance can be a bit hard to spot, walk to the supermarket, take the stairs to go to the train platform, go left and you will see the sign. Giant Starbucks that's really good for wasting time before your train. They have huge couches, tables and chairs, little poofs for chairs, basically a good place to camp out if you're early for your train. It's pretty clean, they have all the normal Starbucks stuff, including more than one brew on tap. Free WiFi! They take cards (duh) read more

What a cool Starbucks location! It is rather new so a lot of people don't really know about it yet. This is not the Starbucks that is in the lobby of the train station but this is located up on platform 2. The details of the room are pretty great. Old train station detail in it's glory, no covering up architectural gems here like they have elsewhere in Centraal Station. This is a great place to enjoy a coffee while waiting for you train and even if you are not riding the train I think it's still worth a visit. Starbucks is a good cafe chain. I like their coffee abd their tea and i love their pastries! This starbucks is located near the second binary. The location is great! It's big and clean and it is very nice. I think it was an old waiting area. The ceilings are quite high and elegants. Moreover is all wood made and it is quite characteristic. The bad side is that there is not a wifi... Anyway remember to ask for the receipt because there is written the bathroom code. read more

Definitely my favourite place to kill some time at Amsterdam Centraal. Located a bit off the beaten track on platform 2, it's nowhere near as busy as everywhere else in the station. They've got tables and comfy chairs to hang out and read a book on, and the best feature is the room itself. They've done a great job of incorporating the historic details of the space, especially the ceiling and hanging light fixtures. Even if you don't want any coffee, if you're an architecture fan it's worth a visit! read more

Parched from a long trek after leaving my hostel, I arrived at this gem of a cafe, seemingly known in Amsterdam as Starbucks. Must be Dutch. The friendly baristas were kind enough to give me two ice water cups with ice. I purchased a java chip Frappuccino as well, Venti style, or as the Dutch call it, "Amsterdam Style". Starbucks rarely (never ever) disappoint with their restaurants. Say what you will about the menu, but the facilities are always a treat. Hence the high rating. Menu are naturally the same, semi-expensive coffee of most kinds and some minor appetizers. This specific location is also located within the Central Station, which can be worth a mention. read more

Starbucks is Starbucks is Starbucks where ever you may find yourself. This one is particularly inefficient, though all of them seem to be, why it takes 3 or 4 people to make 1 cup of coffee I will never understand. Last time i visited this one it only took them 10 minutes to make my drink, must have been the 2 people in front of me in the queue, or maybe it was just the staff being busy with their very important chit-chat about their social lives. If you're in a rush don't go here, you WILL miss your train! If you've time to spare try First Class, the cafe a few metres down the platform, much better coffee with excellent table service and none of the attitude you tend to find in these trendy coffee shops. read more
