The only drawback is that the parking lot is small and shared with the nail salon next door so sometimes I have to make a loop or two before a spot opens up. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but my husband is so sometimes, I indulge in a coffee drink. This isn't the best Starbucks I've been to but it's definitely not the worse. (The worse goes to a Starbucks I visited at an airport.) Overall, it meets my infrequent need for a caffeinated coffee drink and it's close to where I live. The employees have always been nice when I visited and I've never had to wait too long to get my items. I love the oatmeal, especially the agave nectar that comes with the oatmeal. When I do get a drink, I normally get the tall soy white mocha. To me, it's like hot chocolate with espresso. Sometimes, I get the iced tea at Starbucks and I've never been disappointed by my selection. I normally choose something fruity or something made with green tea. The drive thru at this location normally moves kind of slowly. If you order through the Starbucks app, you can literally walk in and get your things with little to no wait. I would come to this location at the Grove Hoover if I had a gift card or if someone insisted to actually meet me here, but that's about it. The service was slow based on my first experience. I ordered a breakfast sandwich last week along with my coffee. The sandwich was delicious and hot and tasted great, but it took over 10 minutes to get my drink order out. I don't think I've ever waited that long at Starbucks to get to coffee and by that time my sandwich was halfway cold. The layout is rather unimpressive-all the chairs look the same ( and kind of uncomfortable) and I don't recall seeing a couch or any cushioned seats like some stores; there are tables with umbrellas outside though, so that is a plus for good patio weather! Gotta drop this one down to 3 stars for the simple fact that they informed me this morning that they just don't take $50 bills. I forgot my wallet but had a $50 and tried to pay. They said they don't take anything larger than a 20. I was at the window, in a hurry, the coffee was already made and it was during a peak time. They couldn't make 40 bucks in change and so I had to just drive away without coffee. This is a stupid idea. Whoever is responsible for the policy of not being able to make $40 in change during peak times at any kind of business is aj idiot. Now because I don't have time, I'll start my day without caffeine, and they lost the opportunity to sell me a glass of milk with a few shots of espresso in it for 7 bucks. Everyone loses. I've been to this location several times recently and have had a great experience each time. Twice we have done the mobile ordering and picked up at the door. Our order was correct both times! Drive thru gets backed up sometimes (like wrapped around the building), but they honestly move through the line pretty quickly. This is my favorite location!! I am closer to the Bessemer location and they're ok BUT this location has served me so well. I don't do coffee so I always get something that is creme based and they never bat an eye. I've had questions about different drinks, hot and cold, in an attempt to try something new. They are always happy to offer suggestions and I love that! I think the biggest reason that this place is my favorite is because twice I've gotten a drink at two different locations (one in the Target and one in the mall) for convenience sake, and they were terrible! I stopped by this location to buy another one to replace the one I just bought. BOTH times they've not let me pay for them! They made it right for the other places. That's a win in my book! Now I don't even bother with the other locations. The staff is always super friendly! And because of that friendliness, the atmosphere is great!! Everything was correct, but my drink had to be remade because it was basically the consistency of water; the food was also not warm, and tasted as if it had been heated 30 minutes prior to being given to us (the actual amount of time we waited to get from the ordering screen to the window). If most Starbucks locations are going to almost always have long lines, then something needs to be implemented to at least try to prevent iced/cold drinks from melting and a way to keep food warm. Separately, this location is just no longer practical with the amount of people coming and going. The parking lot is basically inaccessible because of everyone using the drivethru. read more

This drive through takes FOREVER!!! I don't understand why it's SO SLOW?! Management??

It's new, clean, has lots of tables to work and the staff is really friendly. I have stopped at this Starbucks location several times to grab a coffee to go, both via the drive thru and the inside counter. Each time my order has been correct and the coffee always tastes the same, so no complaints. The drive thru line can be long during peak hours, but moves pretty quickly. The interior is a large space and has a good layout so it keeps the flow moving. You can find the normal coffee menu, with light bites and coffee mugs, etc.. for purchase up near the register. My most recent visit included a full day of being parked at one of their tables to work. Lots of seating options, all tables include power and of course free WIFI. The chairs are on the hard side, but were fine since I had a lot of work to do and didn't want to be too comfy. I noticed that many people opt to work from here... some were here the same hours as me and others were parked for an hour or so. I found the others to be respectful of working in a public space -ie, if they had a phone call, spoke quietly or stepped outside. The staff is here are really hard working - when they are not helping customers, they are wiping down tables, cleaning the back area, refreshing the restrooms, etc.. This is great option to work if you are looking for a change of scenery. read more

My wife and I stopped in to grab breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and tea. I attempted to use a $2 breakfast sandwich coupon (sent to my email, printed w/ code), the cashier eyed it for a moment, then asked for a Starbucks card or barcode in my phone. I stated, "I received it through email and printed it yesterday." The coupon had a code and a prompt to print and use, but didn't note the necessity to have a card. After quickly realizing she was only doing her job and respectfully informing me of their policy, I told her that I didn't want to use the coupon and started to pay. Seconds later, another employee in-passing stopped and grabbed the coupon from her, began to investigate, then restated what she just told me as if trying to treat it as an argument. I told this "manager wannabe" that I already understood what she told me and I just want to pay w/out using the coupon. I wasn't even sure why he intervened. It was as if he had an axe to grind or thought there was an argument to be won. It was 8:48AM! I was hardly in the mood to argue and rarely do before having my coffee:) He (short, gray/black curly hair and glasses) held up the coupon and actually began to read part of the directions to me! There were customers behind me, its 8:48 in the morning, the cashier already explained (very politely and respectfully) it to me, and this guy rudely escalated the situation to make it seem like I hadn't conceded before he even entered the convo. In the nicest way I could (@8:50am), I said "why are we still talking about this, can I just pay and be done with it?". The nice cashier watching this...bless her heart...apologized and provided my change. I felt bad for her and the other coworkers who had to work w/ him :( the customer behind me whispered a supportive comment affirming my concerns. My wait was normal, but they (accidentally, I'd like to think) forgot my coffee, until I reminded them.
