My coffee always tastes perfect at this store, but there are a couple of problems with this location. The entrance to drive in is really screwed up. You turn beside the store and drive down to the back of it, then hope no one is coming out so you can maneuver into the store space better. They really should close down for a few days and create an actual parking area that's easy to drive thru or park, without playing dodge car. Second, and really important, the Starbucks sign is not well lit and is extremely easy to miss. Despite having been to this store a lot, we almost always miss the store and have to turn around. Just a couple of hints for everyone: It's immediately past Firestone, and if you get to Hardee's, you've gone too far. PLEASE, PLEASE address these issues. Service has really dropped. Restaurant was nearly empty and drive thru was vacant. Ordered a blueberry scone and received a vanilla one. I love Starbucks, and I'm pretty understand about the age of people working at the locations along with that the mistakes that sometimes come with that. However, this location is one that I will not revisit. To start, we placed a mobile order ten minutes in advance of arriving at the store. When we get there, there is literally no one in the store and one of the workers was doing nothing. Thinking the order was ready, I walk out on in and informed them I had a pick up. She then started working on it. No problem, maybe they were busy. Halfway through one drink she asks me a question but doesn't even finish the question and mumbles something and restarts the drink. Mistakes happen so no biggie again. After the second attempt I get back to the car with the Frap I ordered and take one drink and realize it has caffeine in it. I can't have caffeine at all, so I go inside and ask if it has caffeine. She didn't even acknowledge me at first until she admits her mistake, yet doesn't apologize nor make any effort to correct it. If you don't leave a tip, they will not make your Order correctly. The barista will also not respect you. For my drink I got an iced white mocha with Caramel drizzle and salted caramel cold foam. What I got was a lukewarm drink with one ice cube, hazelnut syrup, and sweet cream foam. You might be wondering if I just got the wrong drink, nope! It was the correct recipe on the cup. The barista just wasn't happy I didn't tip. Now I do tip sometimes, but as a college student who doesn't have a job cannot afford a 10 dollar drink plus tip. Baristas sometimes you make more than the average minimum wage workers. Be thankful to a have a high paying job compared to your average age costumers. read more

What an amazing experience I had yesterday at this Starbucks. I was greated professionally. I had to wait on my Traveler, they wrote down their number so next time I wouldn't have to wait. They asked me about the timing of my breakfast sandwich then they served me a hot beverage. When my traveler was ready they helped me carry it to my car. Great job! read more

Ordered a guava passion tea lemonade with extra lemonade and liquid cane sugar and the drink was made wrong and was not good so I went in to trade it for a vanilla frappe, knowing if I ask them to remake it. It will still be made wrong so I changed it. The vanilla frappe was not sweet and asked for no whip and had whip on it, no biggie so I just scooped off the whip cream. Very different for a Starbucks service was very slow took 10 minutes only 1 person ahead of me. Ordered a large cappuccino and a venti Pikes coffee ended up with 2 Venti's never ask for a name if guy making the hadn't said loudly cappuccino I would have never found it. Even after my last review, I have gone back a few times... they are about 50/50 with their performance at this location. Some days, some employees are on their game, while others visits, they just don't get your order right. Over-all, it seems like a lot of employees with either disinterest in their jobs, or at times, just plain not caring what they're serving to you. So it's a corporate-owned and controlled Starbucks... menu is the same as any other Starbucks and I'll not comment on that further. On the plus side, this location has a drive-thru window and is easily accessed via Interstate 40, so you can get your caffeine fix and quickly hit the road again. If you should venture inside, however, this location is relatively-new and the space inside has ample seating and tables and it generally does not get busy enough that you cannot grab a chair or table to suit your needs. Locals do not flock here like you see in larger metropolitan areas. On the negative, the staff generally seem rather unsure of themselves and this is not confidence-inspiring when I place an order that requires some customization. The fact that they used computer-printed stickers smashed onto the side of my drink cup to inform the barista is also a bit scary. Maybe I've gotten used to either hearing my order called out or having the barista mark it as I call it out and then recite it back to me. Not that my orders have been wrong, but I always have that lingering sense of, "What have we here?" as I pick up my order. Also, the table tops can sometimes be dirty here. I'm guessing this can occur with the drive-thru window business taking an extra worker's efforts, but I do think that cleanliness could be improved with more frequent wipe downs of the surface areas. Still, the product is consistent and there is comfort in that. When in Hickory and espresso calls, I'm glad this location is easily available. read more

Came in on the way to work and this place was busy. They were churning out order pretty quickly but both inside and the drive-thru had a fair line for a small Starbucks. I've been going here for years. I've never gotten a wrong drink and I'm high maintenance with my espresso. The wait has never been ridiculously long like the one in Viewmont (2nd St address). They do well to keep the place safe despite the high crime/drug activity in the motel next door. The turn into their lot is hard to maneuver but they can't change that easily. read more

I was snoozing in the back of a van when we pulled up to this Starbucks at about 7:30 AM. What? Where are we? Cool. Most of the tables were already claimed with students and slackers on their laptops. Service was fast and the Mocha Latte was good. Love the bacon, egg and gouda breakfast sandwiches. Ordered a couple of pastries for later (croissant and pain au chocolat) and they heated them. Why? I guess it's part of their La Boulange campaign, serving pastries warm and toasty. I have loved Starbucks for many years. We've been to this one a few times since we moved to NC - no problems. Today got my birthday drink - the exact drink I always get as a treat. Venti sf Carmel mocha (with extra shots). They didn't have sugar free carmel so I said ok use regular. They asked did I then want regular on chocolate - No I wanted sf. Got the drink - asked for whipped cream - he told me it was a "skinny". I asked again for the whipped cream. Drink tasted off. I'm guessing they used skim milk. (Why would not wanting sugar translate to not wanting fat?) Just disappointing. Understaffed Not clean - no sweep ups of garbage. Only one creamer not marked. They said half and half. No options?
