We made a stop in to Hickory NC on a trip to Adhevllle and of course we needed to find a local coffee spot. Taste Full Beans caught our eye so we paid a visit. First off, this place has a real coffee house vibe and feel. You feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. There is an assortment of artwork, a lending library, assorted coffee beans and teas leaves for purchase. A plus for atmosphere. On to the coffee. TFB is unstumpanle whe. It comes to flavor add ons. I will I use a picture of the mene to prove it. My wife likes sweet and spicy coffee so she tried the Killer Bee a honey and cayenne combo. She likes her coffee temp extra hot which is spotty in most places. Here they got it right. She loved her coffee. I went standard latte and found their coffee to be non bitter and smooth. It is not an overpowering brew it is bold without getting too acidic. Very satisfying. FYI their 12 oz has two shots, 16 oz has three and the 20 oz has four. Nothing to deduct for here. Charming coffee shop with character. When you walk in, there's a narrow pathway towards the counter to order. There's menus on the wall in the hallway and at the counter. Very accessible. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have really fun decor, good lighting, trinkets and gifts to purchase, and different little spots to dine in, e.g., a small couch area, traditional table seating, a seat/bench by the window, and outdoor patio seating. It provides both a small, intimate setting but also a lot of room and space for groups of 3-4. I'm from California and was visiting family for a bit. Wanted to find a local coffee shop to work from. We came here about 10 years ago. Super happy this coffee shop is still around. Still has really good character, warm vibe, and employees were super welcoming to us. Grabbed a cold brew with foam, a mango/pineapple smoothie, a cookie (they gave us a second because one accidentally broke, kind gesture), a blueberry muffin, and a carrot muffin. Everything was great. That carrot muffin was the bomb. The cold brew was really good too. Classic caffeine kick, bold flavor as usual, and can really taste the fruit notes. I came back the next day to work. It was busy but there's still room to dine in and the team still got through the orders efficiently. For how busy it was, I didn't wait too long to order and get what I needed. Definitely overstayed my time but really needed a nice spot to work from. There's a lot of seating inside and out, but it gets pretty packed during lunch time. Was willing to give up my seat if needed. The staff consistently cleaned tables and seats and kind enough to just allow me to work despite my long stay. I went back to order a chai latte and the bagel and lox. The chai is unsweetened so I added their chai syrup. If you want it sweeter, probably add a bit more. I didn't mind their chai as is. Still good and getting all the spice notes after a cold brew was refreshing. The bagel and lox was phenomenal. I had to be proper and eat it like a civilized adult human being... but would've totally devoured it in seconds with my bare fingers if I was in the privacy of my home. Would come back. read more

What a very unique and beautiful coffee shop nestled in downtown Hickory. They not only offer a wide range of coffees to teas to sandwich's and different homemade desserts/muffins to ice cream, but they also have paintings, jewelry, coffee beans and teas for purchase. Did I just find my new favorite place!? I am in the area for an extended work trip and I stopped in Taste Full Beans to see what it was and I was so pleasantly surprised by every little detail of this establishment. First of all, the ease of ordering is incredible. You can order from an iPad online the second you walk in the door or you can order in person at the counter. They have a LOT of cute and unique spaces to sit. There are little corners tucked away and also tables right in the open where you can sit and hear some fantastic live music. For my book lovers out there, they have a FREE little library AND they also sell loads of books from local authors. But wait, there's more! They also have lots of goods for sale such as beautiful art, jewelry, and greeting cards. The staff are friendly and efficient. The space is clean and bright. I was visiting from NY and stopped in on my friend's recommendation and boy was she right. The menu, while a bit overwhelming with choices, left me feeling like I was getting my moneys worth because there was so much to choose from--iced coffees, hot coffees, lattes, teas, tea lattes, and on & on. I got the flight and was able to get it all sugar free which was a bonus. The kale salad was so tasty, but I'd ask for less dressing as it was pretty wet. Avo toast definitely had a full avocado--bring a to go container to bring your extra home. I recently had the good fortune to visit this particular cafe, located in the heart of Hickory. It was relatively easy to find. The cafe had a warm ambiance despite the rainy, cold weather outside. My friend and I made our way to the counter and ordered. Though I don't drink coffee, I was very interested in the cranberry coffee cake. I selected bottled water to go with it. Upon receiving what I'd ordered, I noted that my coffee cake was warm. My friend and I made our way to a table near the window. This was a perfect location to watch the people and the rain outside. My cranberry coffee cake was splendid, and I was grateful that it had been warmed up. Though I didn't have time to shop, I noted there were many things to purchase, including several kinds of coffee, throughout the cafe. Overall I was pleased with our visit to Taste Full cafe. I started my day with a great cortado this morning at Taste Full. Very rich espresso with just a little bit of steamed (not foamed) milk and I had the energy I needed for exploring Hickory. This is a cute shop and they're doing a solid job with COVID protocols, setting up a partition at the counter with a large plexiglass partition hooked up with microphone and speaker so you can still talk clearly with the baristas. Lines marked on the floor and yes, there is actually a mask mandate in North Carolina at this time. My coffee was prepared quickly and I enjoyed it sitting outside for a bit while I worked out where we're headed next. Street parking is available. Taste Full Beans has been around the Hickory area for quite some time. Offering up many different beverages, ice cream, and even vegan food options! Granted, I've never had the chance to try their plant based selections- it's a great idea because not too many places in the area offer things like tempeh! I can vouch for the flavor of their coffees, and they have a good selection of syrups and flavors as well- however, the matcha was not it. I think it was WAY too watered down, didn't pack a punch, and as my husband described it "tasted like matcha flavored water." I would love to try another matcha because maybe whoever made ours wasn't experienced, but both of our drinks definitely needed more matcha powder so we were pretty disappointed! As far as the service goes, the employees are insanely sweet. You can tell they are back there working super hard, and care about their customers. The atmosphere of the restaurant as a whole is really fun- good vibes, live music, lots of laughs and conversations. Large, eclectic local coffee shop with local art and a wide range of seating options. Parking is typical of downtown, but Sunday morning we parked right in front. Background music was noticeable as we walked in, a bit loud, but interesting. We found out it was a personal playlist, which is interesting in itself. You walk to the rear to order at the counter. The drink selection is large but not overwhelming. They are also adept at modifying to give you exactly what you want. We ordered, then found a seat in a room near the street. There wasn't much traffic, but enough people were going by to keep it interesting. Our drinks took maybe five minutes to make. They don't ask your name, so just call out the drink when ready. I would guess you need to be on your toes listening for you order when they are busy. Their pick up spot is a bit hidden as well. It's a small space on the corner of the counter surrounded by a lot of other stuff. My cortado was really outstanding. I have been drinking them for awhile, and this is the best I have had. My regular place is really good, but this raised the bar. My partner's vanilla chai latte was average. The flavors were all there, but did not have any "punch". She indicated our regular place does it better. They have a big selection of pastries to go with your coffee. The atmosphere is laid back with assorted seating. Everything from comfy overstuffed chairs in a corner to kitchen chairs at a table. I could see this being a favorite location to meet friends. The staff was huddled behind the counter while eating and yelling back into the kitchen. The main problem came when they came over and put a table timer on our table and mentioned that they only have a 1.5 hour limit on tables. I would totally get it if the shop was packed with people but there was maybe a total of 10 people inside, not including the staff.
