When Awake first opened I thought that a pharmacy and cafe was a weird combination, but they were ahead of their time. Today, a Tuesday, it's quite busy and we got one of the last tables. I could tell that others were here for the same combination as us. Awake has a small menu with just their bubble waffles and pasties but otherwise it's a fine place to stop for a break or to pick up a prescription.

Fortunately, Sunday afternoon, Google said they were less busy than usual, so I decided to head over. I ordered a Maple Macchiato, which was just OK. But the croissant-- oowee! I had planned on sitting inside at the table by the window, but when the AC kicked on, it was blowing right on me, and got downright chilly. This time the temperature was at the low side of normal so it went down quickly. Here's the thing. The server noticed my cup was empty and asked it I would like a second cup. She said it's free with meals (drip coffee). I was impressed because only a few places offer that important second cup. Surprisingly the second cup of coffee was served at just the right temperature. I really appreciated the easy listening music that was not turned way up like so many places do these days. The ambiant sound was pleasant and it was easy to have a conversation.
