Visited here in late June and it must have been after the majority of the students that go to the campus, UVA, across the street go home after the semester ends. Came here both mornings I was in Charlottsville, VA and there was never a line and had great coffee which is the usual at Starbucks. I can't drink regular Dunkin' Donuts anymore as its just too weak and I have been brewing strong dark roasts such as Star Bucks Sirens blend and Komodo Dragon dark roast on the reg. Thank you for reading and definitely stop in here for your early morning wake up drinks before strolling the beautiful UVA campus. Considering the amount of customers this location receieve, they do a great job of getting drinks out quickly and accurately. Their mobile order line gets very backed up, so its usually faster to go in and order in line. It's a very reliable Starbucks, and typically does better than the two locations on UVA's Grounds. One of the perks of working near The Corner is that Starbucks is a stone throws away. The baristas' are always so nice and welcoming even when I only stop in for two seconds. Really cool upstairs that is usually quiet and a great place to get work done. My drinks aren't always perfect but I'm always satisfied. read more

I try to be careful of a 5 star review visit on a first visit. But I am going to do it and no turning back. The visit was flawless and it is one the most unique Starbucks in the chain I assume. The location is basically on campus, but technically across the street I suppose in the restaurant/store row. The manager said this store is the third largest in the whole chain. They have a location of gold on the main drag and I can easily see this place getting mobbed at high peak times and service possibly being compromised. Before even entering you realize it's special, the Starbucks sign is help up by chains. Just many creative touches that are very cool. I took lots of pics to show off there two fireplaces and upstairs study area for students to study. Several little nooks to grab a concoction and hide away with a text book and study for that next exam. Or maybe not! The study area was packed and very little conversation was taking place. Are these UVA students really studying on a Saturday night? Bravo! On this Saturday evening just after 8 PM it was very slow. My order was a Grande White Chocolate Mocha stirred with whip "for here". I snapped a pic of it as it looked appealing and tasted even better. The right temp too. The service was spot on and friendly. I rarely tip at Starbucks, but I felt like it tonight with a very nice experience. I do enjoy the setting of this Starbucks, it's a cool old building with nice ambiance and a funky space. My drinks have been made to order as expected and the service has always been friendly. However, it's obviously usually swarming with UVA students, which is fine...unless you were hoping to stick around and enjoy your drink inside the shop at a peak time of day--you'll be out of luck. Bonus is it's right on the Corner with other shopping and restaurants, not to mention the campus(which is worth a stroll), so taking your coffee to go isn't the worst thing in the world. read more

Typical Starbucks experience, except it's located right on The Corner on UVa campus, so it's filled with college students. Pretty much always busy from open to close. It's in a historic building, so they kept some charming touches, such as fireplaces, which takes it up a notch on the cool scale. read more

Great yummy coffee fast. And I usually grab a parfait while I'm there. Great study/lounge area upstairs. Great service (baristas are very nice and fast with orders) And did I mention how much I love their coffee? Some Starbucks locations and most other coffee shops give me overly sweet coffee, but this place is coffee heaven for me. My favorite? The seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte... or the Iced Caramel Macchiato when it's not pumpkin season! This location is often full of college students, and sometimes the line does get pretty long. Usually he staff are great and handling the flow though, so don't let a long line scare you off. (Pro tip: use the Starbucks mobile app to order ahead and skip the line - my order is always ready by the time I get there) This location also has a large study/work space upstairs. I had the WORST coffee experience I've ever had yesterday. To be brief, I ordered a Grande Iced Matcha Latte with Coconut Milk. After waiting 10 minutes while the 3 barista's chatted about their weekend, I watched one barista pour coconut milk into a plastic cup and dump a scoop of matcha powder on top... then she closed the lid and handed it to me. NO MIXING, NO STIRING, NOTHING!!! The matcha powder stuck to the lid of the cup and clumped together. In disbelief that someone would even think to hand me something so bad, I said, "you're not going to even stir it?" and she just blinked at me and turned away. While I tried my best to combine the mixtures the guy next to me said, "to be honest that looks disgusting and I can't believe she would actually hand that to you". I paid $4+ and waited over 10 minutes for a girl to pour milk into a cup and dump powder into it... Are you kidding? Starbucks, train your baristas! Yesterday was unacceptable and I highly doubt your boss would accept such a disgusting beverage. read more

Finally made it to the last SBUX on my list in Charlottesville! Stopped in last weekend after my long run to grab a latte - very friendly service and very unique feel to the place. Sure, all SBUX are essentially the same, but this one reminded me of the ones in Japan with dual levels. Early in the morning is the best time, otherwise it gets busy. Seating is limited. This location is more for in and out coffee runs. Music is usually what you'd expect, but the flooring is remarkable. I always think to ask about it, whether or not it's original or has any history, but I'm always there before I've had coffee so I never remember. I've thought of renovating my floors in this same style, but I'm worried about maintenance. It seems to be holding up well, even with the traffic. read more

Got my drinks as ordered and efficiently (though I should note that 90% of the time I'm getting a black coffee, which you probably can't mess up). This is by far the best Starbucks in all of Charlottesville! The staff there are awesome, friendly, and very down-to-Earth! You're never waiting an extremely long amount of time. The baristas have no problem making and customizing drinks and engage in fun conversation with you. My only reason for the 4-Star review is the seating situation. This Bux has an upstairs level that is always guaranteed to be full with students, so seating can be an issue as can the noise upstairs...otherwise, this Bux is awesome! read more

this may just be the nicest study area i have ever seen at a starbucks. the down stairs is your average, long-lined starbucks with mocha-coca-choca's being called out to be picked up. but UPstairs is beautiful and sunny with large windows, and even a private closed-in study room for larger groups. there is tons of variety in seating options and you can pretty much always be close to a window and people watch below. i would definitely study here if i attended UVA. read more

I went to the Starbucks location on a Friday morning around 7:10am. Everything seemed the same in typical Starbucks fashion, but it took much longer than expected. Leave yourself some extra time if you head into this location. Also, I wanted a breakfast sandwich that is offered on their menu, the Vegetable & Fontina, but the guy behind the counter acted like he had never heard of it. They were out of it, and it seemed they don't even carry it at this location. read more

I love Starbucks. I will admit that my drink order is a bit complicated, but no more than the average Starbucks goer. I normally get my drink order filled at the barracks location or on 29, and have never had a problem. However, the first time ordering at this location the barista literally rolled his eyes at me when I finished placing my order - they definitely weren't busy as I was the only one in the store. I decided to give them another try and go back a second time, the same barista then tells me his manager said they can't make my drink. Say what? Not only did he say they can't make a drink but he said if my drink was supposed to be made, it would be on the menu. Rude. When I asked him who his manager was and when they were working, he got more of an attitude and rambled. I would avoid this location if you want friendly service and the normal Starbucks experience. read more

I've actually put off writing a review for this Starbucks for a while just because I don't know if I can accurately convey how much I love love LOVE this place...but I'll try. The location is perfect, there is SO MUCH study room both downstairs and upstairs (even more thanks to the remodel last summer) and I don't think I've ever had anyone mess up my order (& I go here almost every day). The best part of this Starbucks, though, is the wonderful baristas--they are so amazingly friendly, helpful, and always remembered my name. I've been to a LOT of Starbucks but the people that work at this one are what make it my favorite. Recommend x1000000000. One thing--PLEASE turn the AC down upstairs, especially in the summer! I've been to this location multiple times in hopes of it improving. It hasn't. As a former Seattle-ite, I am a slave to the Sbux, but I am always disappointed at the lack of friendliness, courtesy, and customer service at this location. I understand that being busy sucks, but when you choose to work at a busy location, that's a choice. The majority of the employees are rude and act like I am putting a damper on their day just by being there. I don't even have that high of expectations. All that I expect is for SOMEBODY to have a warm or inviting word or smile, instead a cold stare or no eye contact at all. I'm a friendly person and always tell people to have a good day, and some reciprocation would be nice. Or just don't look/sound like you hate everybody. read more

This location is pretty nice, across from UVA's Rotunda, next to the rest of the corner, in a historic building they couldn't entirely homogenize with the usual Starbucks shellac. The baristas are also friendly and generally competent. The study area upstairs is nice, although mostly overrun with loud, chattery undergrads (except during some weekends and when school is out of session). One general complaint though: why is the Internet here SO SLOW??? Are you telling me the Starbucks corporation can't afford to pay for decent speed Internet at a busy location? It took me almost 5 minutes just to load the yelp landing page. So I switched to my phone, turned off the wifi and used 3G instead, and it went infinitely faster. ... The wifi is here for the people who come to use it. Please make it useable. Also, it is freezing upstairs in the winter. Can we turn up the heat or turn on that charming but useless fireplace? On the whole, this is an okay Starbucks experience if you're looking for your usual Starbucks drink and if you can tolerate the loud chattering of the students. If you don't need your regular Starbucks concoction, there are plenty of other coffee shops in town with better coffee and quieter, warmer spaces. read more

FREEZING COLD. that's my primary thought about this place. Don't plan on staying long unless you've brought a thick sweater. It is a convenient location, the baristas are usually very nice, and they stay open 24 hours during finals week. But PLEASE just keep it at a regular temperature some time. read more

Every Starbucks is a great but I like this one the best! Great coffee and friendly customers and staff!

They routinely fill hot drinks (the opaque cups) only 3/4 of the way. I use the mobile app ordering multiple times a week to grab my drink on the way to class. A vast majority of the time it is well under filled. They also will load up with whipped cream when the cup is only 1/2 full of liquid to give the appearance of a full drink. It's absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Management needs to intervene. read more

The buildig is great - awesome fireplaces and large room upstairs for sitting, but the staff are lacking. On a Sunday morning, only three employees. I've been in here for 20 minutes and haven't gotten my drink yet, and have seen many in front of me get messed up/made wrong. Hope they fix this staffing isoon! read more

One of my absolute favorite Starbucks locations of all time. There is an upstairs with cozy sofas and chairs. If you can manage to get a window seat, there is a lovely view of the university lawn. I read many great books there. I practically lived there for six months. read more

Stopped by this Starbucks after a campus tour thinking I'd grab a Frap for the long return drive. Wow, that was a mistake because at 15:00 on a Sunday afternoon, this place is mobbed and crawling with students. Given the crowds, it seemed severely understaffed as I counted 3 people working behind the counter including the frantic cashier who seemed totally unfamiliar with the register. It took nearly 30 minutes to order and get my beverage which turned out was completely 100% wrong. I ended up with basically an ice slushy instead of a coffee frap. By that time the other people in my party were tapping their toes and I was trying to make amends for holding them hostage by not going back thru another waiting line to have them remake the beverage. Overall a very disappointing execution which is not often the case with Starbucks. I'll also mention that the downstairs bathrooms were out of order and the upstairs bathrooms seemed barely operable. Maybe it was due to the street work being done not far away. I'm sure with proper staffing and a different time, my experience may have been far better. Cheers. read more
