He…read morechecks to make sure (as we're driving over) if we're going to the coffee shop that has the "vault". I had no idea what he was talking about that first time til we went back. They have round vault wheels as their handles. Made so much sense after that. He gets an apple juice and a Black Rifle cookie. I usually get the Liberty. The first time the barista told me I can lower the sweetness level and the drink was PERFECT! I forgot the past couple times and it is quite sweet. I have had the Liberty Bell both hot and cold. Either way is delicious (minus the extra sweetness - but that is my fault for not remembering to tone down the sugar). The baristas are super nice. They told me son that they can do any drink hot, iced, or blended...They also have lemonade with mix ins - he's planning to get that next time. The space is spacious. There are about 12 - 13 tables of varying seats a cozy couch area and a bar with bar stools looking out the window. There is also outside space. At 2pm on a Wednesday there are few people in there so room to spread out but also echoey for an 8 year old boy playing switch and getting a little animated. The bathrooms are one per and unisex (which helps me and I can send him into the bathroom just fine). We love Black Rifle and are so happy it's so close to cheer camp.

The bathroom is clean and has a changing table. When we walked in, we were greeted by a really nice young woman who made great recommendations for food and drinks. She was so incredibly cordial! I ordered a no foam chai latte and maple coffee cake. My husband got a hot Americano and maple bacon oatmeal. My chai tasted wonderful and the temp was good. However the cup was light. It was 1/3 full with foam. I brought it back to the barista and asked her if she could remove the foam. She joyfully scraped it off but then I had a cup that was 2/3 full. I expected her to top it off with hot milk but she didn't offer and pushed the cup toward me. I'll say that Starbucks started charging for no foam and I don't mind. I'd rather pay a $0.25 to have a cup full than not. The food was luke warm. The maple coffee cake was delicious. We ended up splitting it because the oatmeal was overtaken by bacon that he couldn't really taste the maple. It was a great idea in theory, Will we be back? Yes, because it's locally owned and a small business. It's conveniently located next to our dog groomer. Jax is not my first go to though. There are two other small business coffee shops in Jasper that are just as good if not better when it comes to quality.

The milkshakes are amazing and so are the chocolate options. For me, the best milkshake on the menu is the caramel toffee cappuccino. It has the perfect balance of salty and sweet with smooth and crunchy. It is simply perfection in a cup, which is what has kept me coming back even when my waistline knows I shouldn't. I have tried a few others that my kids have gotten like the cookie jar, the chocolatier, and the cookie brownie fudge. All were decadent and delicious but the caramel toffee cappuccino reigns supreme in my book. I love how all the shakes include a small piece of chocolate or other goodie on top. I've tried the regular milk chocolate, the peanut butter toffee bark, and the Dubai style chocolate bar. They were all really good. My favorite was the Dubai style chocolate, though I thought it was too small for the price, so I likely won't get that one again for that reason. Service was painfully slow during the soft opening, which is understandable as the employees are mostly teens and learning, but it was much better for the grand opening despite being slammed. I think the milkshake experience can be improved with online ordering, which does not seem to be an option currently. During one of my visits, I called ahead and was initially told that they could not take my order but on push back and assuring them I was already on my way, they took my order and it was ready when I got there. This was ideal because I was in a hurry and could not have waited around for them to make it otherwise. Online ordering, including completing the purchase online and choosing a pick up time would make things so much easier. But either way, the shakes are well worth the wait, and I am sure I will be back soon.

The shakes are relatively thick and rich, and come with a larger than ordinary straw to enable you to drink them with ease. The shake I selected had rich cocoa, oven-baked brownies, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and melted fudge dripping down the inside of the cup. I always get the Iced Venetian Vanilla and it never disappoints. My husband has actually switched from the iced coffee to it. I always want to try the pina colada freeze, but just haven't yet.
