the inside of a coffee shop

With three employees working I was surprised how long our drinks took to make. We were the only ones in line. One was training in as a new employee from what I saw so I understand the stress. Yet we had to wipe down our own table and it was the cleanest one we could find. The hand sanitizer pump was out.

One of my favorite Starbucks. Michelle and Victoria are a couple of my favorite baristas there. Always friendly, and they know practically all the regulars by name.

I simply don't end up going to a bad or horrible place when it comes to restaurants/coffee shops…read moreetc. Today I had another good find in one of the familiar neighborhoods so this compelled me to write a review for it. Mojo Coffee is unique and is one of a kind. It's an Ethiopian coffee shop with wide range of pastries with grocery store inside it. What a great idea! After spending our day on this beautiful Sunday by eating lunch at a nearby Greek restaurant and having a mid afternoon cocktail on Main Street in Louisville, my date and I were ready for a cup of decaf with a small pastry late in the afternoon (or early evening.) We had seen Mojo on our way numerous times on Hampden but we had never tried it so today (Jan 10, 2021) we finally decided to give it a try. And we LOVED every single bit of it from his hot chocolate to my decaf Americano to his cannoli to my raspberry cookie! If you are craving for some sweets you will find something to satisfy your craving at this shop. They also serve ice cream! The grocery store in the back of the shop is quite charming; it carries sets of coffee cups/mugs to kettles to breads to chairs/stools! This place is my go to for coffee and pastries now!! People there are nice and welcoming too.

My first visit to this coffee shop was over 4 years ago. After seeing occasionally the photos…read moreposted by other people, I was convinced that it was time to paid homage to this popular cafe. I hence invited my adult daughter to tag along with me to it the past Sunday. The kiosk: I believe this wasn't there 4 years ago. It's nice that people can place their order and get 5% off their total bills. AND YET, it's crammed into this tiny space where it's sandwiched between the pick up order counter and one of the dining tables. It thus creates inefficiencies. On top of that, the machine wasn't working properly. After hitting "place order" or "next" button it was dong an endless "thinking" mode. Upon telling one of the working about the machine, he said "That does that sometimes" so it appears that it's getting a pattern for it. We stood at the machine for like good 5 minutes for nothing. Fortunately we weren't in a hurry but they were a couple standing right behind us but since we were taking so long they went straight to the counter to place their order. Unless you really want to get that meager (lol) 5% off, you might as well go to the actual counter and place your order with a real human. So at the actual counter, we finally placed our order with one of the workers. Since he was the one who told me about the machine's not working, I thought he would honor the 5% discount but he didn't (as I didn't see it on the receipt.) Oh well, it's only 5% for cry out loud (lol!!) Once ordered, they gave us a pager. We thus headed upstairs and sat at one of the comfortable-looking couches. The table wasn't super clean as some bread crumbs left by the previous diners were visible. When the pager beeped, I went downstairs to claim our order. And wow, the other worker (young woman) handed me our drinks in two large glasses and the tres leches on an oversized rectangular shaped white plate. They all looked good. Since I couldn't hold them all in two hand, she handed me a tray so I could place all three onto them. Nice kind gesture indeed. This place offers good to great portions for almost everything. My daughter's cold brew was topped with a generous amount of whipped cream. She asked for rose syrup in it and the amount of said syrup was noticeable and it wasn't overpowering either. It was simply well-made. I enjoy my triple shot of espresso over ice in a large glassware. I added some cream to make the perfect iced latte and it tasted amazing. We were also pleased with the tres leche roll/tube. When we saw them displayed upfront, the outlays looked like crispy waffle cone and yet as we bit into it we realized that it was soft. The guy upfront told me (when I was placing the order) that they have two kinds of cream they can put into it: the regular white cream and brown more like a Russian cream type. I wanted something not so ordinary so I chose the latter and I was glad. This Russian brown cream was excellent in a way that it was sweet and emitted some nice decadence but not too sweet. I also enjoyed the portion size vs. price point: they are only $3.50 per piece as of mid-October 2026. I think this price is extremely fair for the kind of economy we are living in. I later went downstairs to use the bathroom. The door is locked with a keypad but the guy saw me so he immediately stepped out of the bar and assisted me to open unlock the door for me. He was (after all) is a kind person with attentiveness. The bathroom was clean but the toilet bowl wasn't (was a bit gross!!) Our recent visit to this cafe started out with some inconveniences and yet, at the end of it all, it was all good. Whereas they can pay more attention to the overall cleanliness this is a good coffee shops with all kinds of savory/sweet offerings with reasonable price points.
