I haven't come here in ages because they're usually really busy (drive thru & inside) + there's always something wrong with the drinks + subpar customer service. Fortunately, today was opposite. Hardly a line inside - I ordered via the app and got my drink within 5 min. (They did forget the whip but they were quick to fix & nice even with drive thru being busy and all). The drink taste as I wanted but still not as good at the Wasilla location but a solid 4/5. I am especially pleased with the decor. It seems they're in the process of changing things over to a cozier Fall vibe. Love the playlist selection as well. I would definitely come here to get work done! I just paid $10 including a tip for a basic drip coffee and breakfast. I was sitting by the fireplace relaxing prior to going to a supplemental part-time job when 2 homeless people walked in with multiple bags each. Both the male and female smelled of drugs and alcohol and were filthy dirty. The female asked the barista for a phone charger but didn't order anything. The male went into one of the bathrooms with a toiletry bag he took from his backpack. Then the female did the same and went into the second bathroom. Twenty minutes passed and I was finished with my coffee and breakfast. My office didn't open for another 15 minutes and was a block away. I asked the barista to check on the two homeless people as they had both been in the bathrooms for a long time, He said he was aware. I asked for a manager he claimed he was the manager. I proceeded to complain as a paying customer who also tipped that the homeless people using both bathrooms for their personal hygiene is unsanitary as well as disrespectful to us paying customers. He was argumentative and rude, I left and will never patron this Starbucks again. read more

I'm a frequent Starbucks drinker but recently the drinks I've been getting have been totally skimped. I always get a vanilla cappuccino. Today I ordered a grande & as soon as I picked it up I thought it felt really light but it was drive thru so I couldn't check. Got to work across the street & opened it. As you can see in the pics the foam didn't even come to the top it's a good 2" from it & after removing the foam there's literally 1/4 of the cup actually filled with coffee. Today is the day after Christmas and there was a long line in the drive through. My order took quite a while but I could see there were only two baristas working and they were working so hard! I mentioned politely that I was running late and the lady at the window was so professional, nice, and had the best customer service even though I'm sure she was dealing with difficult customers all day. I stopped by this location two days in a row after picking up my dad on Father's Day and dropping him off at the airport the next day. On the first day, I sat and chatted with my Dad for over an hour. I really liked the seating choices and the layout of the space. The bathrooms were well maintained and clean. They were very busy and the drinks did take a while to get (at least 5 minutes). On the bright side, they were all made correctly. The second time I stopped by I grabbed a bottle of water and a peanut butter protein bar. The staff was friendly and quick. Great experience. The parking situation is a bit of a bear. If you are planning to exit from the Starbucks onto Old Seward, you're in luck. Any other directions and you might be a little bit in trouble. read more

This is an ok Starbucks. The communication here isn't great. Drink mix ups occur. But they make them well. Bathrooms are clean and the cafe is comfy. This is a popular location for Pokemon Go gatherings, so I visit here fairly regularly and don't always make purchases and no one seems to mind. The front parking lot is a nightmare and is hard to access. Back parking lot is much easier to access if you know how to access it from the back way, which is not at all intuitive. This is a horrendous intersection, like so many Starbucks locations.... Decent drinks at your own peril. I wouldn't bother if it weren't for the PokeGym. read more

This is one my ultimate favorite starbucks locations on the planet. The staff is always friendly here. I like the bar that they have put in. As I haven't visited this starbucks for the past five years a few things have changed about it. I am a little upset they finally moved the rock out front that about 1 in 20 cars would back into, it was quite a thing to watch. If you like people/car watching this is a great location. During the winter something is always going on out there in that busy intersection, however, what I come for is the great view in between the buildings of the snow capped mountains. I rarely spend my own money on Starbucks, but I will go if I have a gift card. This location is the best in terms of seating area, but the service leaves much to be desired. This Starbucks is the most spacious location in town, and also the one open latest. Also unlike the others, this location has a large outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice, and a small conference room you can reserve for meetings. The chairs by the fireplace are particularly cozy during the winter. There's enough tables, but having a counter so close to the register makes no sense. Outlets are few and far between. Since Old Seward and Dimond is such a busy intersection, getting in and out can be a hassle. And you have to drive all the way around the back to get to the drive thru. Weird placement. The staff is generally lukewarm, which I wouldn't mind too much if they made the drinks well. But often they miss something. Not enough/too much milk or ice, missing an espresso shot, etc. They'll correct it if they mess up, but this location is often very slow so sometimes it just isn't worth waiting another 5 minutes or however long. Not a location you want to go to if you're short on time, but a pretty nice place to study or read if you're in the area. read more

Corporate Stank. The coffee doesn't taste bad, but everything that comes along with that cup of coffee rubs me the wrong way. I just can't shake the feeling that Starbucks has formulated and equation for business success for the sole purpose of making shareholders rich. (I know, I know. It's a fantastic business model!). It just feels like somewhere along the way, taking care of the customers no longer penciles out in the equation. The jumping off point for me was when I went through the drive through and asked for a giant cup of coffee, I was told they were out. No explanation or alternative offered. Starbucks was out of coffee. Let that sink in. I'm sure that Starbucks can enjoy their mega success just fine without me. I will turn my attention to local trade even though it means driving an extra block or two. Those hippie kids and their red goat are happy to give me a giant cup of black coffee. I decided to come back here to catch up on studying after my disappointing experience a few months back. This location is on one of the busiest intersections in Anchorage at Dimond and Old Seward across from the Dimond Center mall and two other shopping plazas. Starbucks made a very wise choice in choosing this spot. Originally a Dunkin' Donuts back in the 80's, then Blockbuster Video in the 90's, this small strip mall is going through a rejuvenation of sorts after being dormant for a number of years after Blockbuster closed. The place is constantly packed and cars line the drive-thru throughout the day. However, the large amount of business doesn't necessarily translate into the ideal experience for studying. The seating area has the same cluttered arrangement but with brand new tables to replace the dingy, wooden ones they've had for a long time. The Wi-Fi here has improved from last time with no issues of bad connections or slow Internet speed. I was lucky to snag a table in the corner that had an outlet, but apparently this is an ongoing problem for a lot of people coming in due to a lack of outlets along the front area by the windows and by the armchairs. The outlets are concentrated in a small corner of the café with very little space between tables and on the counter area across from the register. The placement of this counter is the worst I've seen for a Starbucks location because anyone using these outlets to study or do work will have to contend with people standing in line or waiting for their order directly behind them or around them. That makes it impossible for anyone wanting to do work or study in private if they're in the middle of all the chaos especially during busy times. If you need to find a place to study for a couple of hours with a decent amount of personal space and privacy, you're better off going to another coffee shop especially when all the outlets by the tables have been taken. The new chairs and tables were comfortable and proved ideal to get some work done, but the volume level for the music is set way too high. I've noticed this with a couple of other customers who came in only to leave shortly afterwards. Coffee drinks and snacks are good as always at this location and the employees remain friendly and quick to take your order. I've never had to wait for more than five minutes to get my order especially during a rush. The seating arrangement and the lack of outlets are things they could work on to improve the overall experience for customers here in the long run. I've decided to bump them up to three stars from two for the new table furnishings and the great customer service I get from the employees here. read more

I am very aggravated with the guy behind the counter. Tall black guy who just served me. I'd give zero stars if I could. Asked for 12 ounce English breakfast tea with 2 bags and one inch of room. As usual, only half and half is available to put in it. That's all that is ever on the condiments counter top. And as an English person I only like skim, or 2 % milk, I'll take whole milk at a pinch. Naturally, non of those are out for use by the public, so I have to ask. I take off the lid off my cup, and the tabs of the teabags are still attached to the body of the teabag, not outside of the cup, like everywhere else I have ever been. I start to fish them out, whilst asking for skim milk. He claims they've fallen in. Funny that, cos they are still stuck to the body of the teabag. I go to pour in my milk- he wont let me, claims I am violating health code. I am not happy whatsoever. I wouldn't break health code if you provide the different kinds ofmilk in the differently labelled jugs that you possess,and put them out for me to pour myself. I am not coming back here. Rude. Watch out the internet service will cut off if you stream more than 10 minutes! For as long as it lasts the internet speed is great! 9Mbps Down and 4 Mbps up - It is also an excellent place to watch the sunrise Nice Starbucks - good pastries and a good place to read or work or study. The hard surfaces (glass wall and tile floor) reflect the sound and so it can be loud. Currently there are only 5 other people here (It's early in the morning) and the noise level is moderate. Review - It's a Starbucks - clean and exactly what you'd expect. The chairs at the tables are a bit uncomfortable, but otherwise it's a nice clean and comfortable place to work. I ended up going back and it was much better this time. It was still pretty busy but I didn't feel rushed and the staff didn't come across short/cold like they did before. The drinks each time have been absolutely perfect, the espresso doesn't taste bounty and there's just the right amount of syrup so it's not overly sweet and thick like other locations. The only issue I had was I asked for a 16oz, they never repeated back my order they said they'd have my total at the window, they told me the total which was what I normally pay for a 16oz, but they ended up handing me a 20oz and my account shows they charged me for a 20oz. Because of their response to me trying to order two drinks when they were busy (making a comment about "if it's quick to make I'll take the other drink order. Just come inside to order.") The major downside to this bucks is it's busy location on a major intersection in south anchorage and if it's one of the 5 sunny days of the summer it's not as nice to sit outside with the traffic. The service is good usually and staff friendly. Only 3 stars because about one out of five times we come here we get the wrong drink and I see it happen to others frequently so check it first. Worst Starbucks service ever here on May 14th around 1030. Like the employees were in a molasses pit. The middle aged woman taking orders at the counter never gave our order to the barista. Also, she was quite unclear on the concept of coffee cake. All I wanted was a regular coffee, a couple treats, and a latte. After 15 minutes of watching people behind us get their orders, the barista had to ask what we were waiting for, because the counter person just really didn't care. To the barista's credit he got to our order as soon as he realized the counter person was completely incompetent. As we sat, we watched several other people with simple, plain Americana orders waiting...from our perspective it was the middle aged counter person who was just not up to the task, and had very poor customer service. Finally, even though the barista's enthrall made us a priority and made a very good latte, we never received an apology or anything. I've been to countless Starbucks, and this was the most disappointing experience by far. read more

Starbucks at a convenient location for south side commuters. It has drive through but be aware for you can get stuck there on busy mornings. I usually just walk in so that I can dodge any kind of disaster. I gave 3 stars because the taste and the service has no continuity. They will NEVER get your drink right. I've been there multiple times and 99% of the time my drink is wrong. I'll order a specialty cream frapp and it's not what it should be. I'll ask for a soy simple frapp with no whip and there's a crap ton of whipped cream. I'll ask for a simple cream frap and they will put coffee in it. I'm pregnant and my son is 7. We do the drive through, but even in person when we make our order for our frapps we double check there is no coffee. Still comes with coffee in it. Smh. One time I could see the label was right, the drink was wrong, the guy handing it out the window recognized it and still handed them to me. When you come back to get your drink fixed, it's a toss up on whether or not they will be rude. Almost like they are annoyed that you had the balls to come back.
