Ever since the "COMING SOON" sign appeared in front of the plaza, I had been anxiously waiting for Star Tea's grand opening. The wait is over. My fiancé is from SD, and I'm from the Bay where boba spots are plenty. It took us sometime to adjust to the fact that Manteca only had one legit, chain boba place. We were pleased to find one opening up a hop and a skip from our home! I initially tried their regular milk tea with honey boba so that I could make my comparisons. I have to say that it was fairly good. The tea isn't overly sweet. The boba is the perfect consistency -- not too chewy and not too firm. But then...I tried the vanilla chai. It was a game changer. My chai tea fans, please try this because it is the one. I have to give this place 4 stars for now only because based on the standard milk tea, I've had better. It's not bad at all but not quite there in flavor for me. Their menu is extensive. Maybe I just need to keep trying new drinks. Star Tea is located in a spread out, but quieter plaza. The plaza was nearly empty when I arrived on a Friday night, so there were plenty of parking. First thing I noticed was the exterior is simple - nothing that really pops out, but when I first walked in, the interior is bright and modern. The younger employee working was not that friendly or welcoming, but the older employee (most likely the owner) was friendly and all smiles. I wanted a jasmine milk tea with boba, but unfortunately they were out of the jasmine tea when I stopped by. I ended up ordering a mango smoothie with boba instead. The mango smoothie was a bit on the sweeter side with minimal sourness or tartness. Overall, it was decent, but if I come back, I would try their jasmine milk tea - if it is available. read more

Cute milk tea spot in Manteca. They have a variety of drinks ranging from fruit teas, milk teas, and slushies. I opted for a Vietnamese coffee milk tea with honey boba. Service was quick and I got my drink in less than 5 minutes. I was expecting something on the sweeter side but was disappointed at the fact that they either did not use any condensed milk, or hardly used any to sweeten the drink. When I hear Vietnamese coffee, I think of strong robusta coffee flavors intertwining with smooth, luxurious condensed milk. I got neither. The boba was a nice texture and had some sweetness to them, but that was all the drink had going for itself. Maybe I just chose the wrong item on the menu, but this drink left me less than satisfied. I ordered Dragon fruit flavored refreshing drink with boba. The service was excellent, very accommodating. Nice Ambiance. I noticed several board games available and a old-school Pacman game. Come check out StarTea's speciality drinks for yourself. The only drawback was the AC was not working and it made it worth getting the drink. Only negative comment is the temperature in their during summer. Maybe the AC was down when I went in the summer but it felt musty and sticky. I would like to think of myself as a boba connoisseur. Not only have I managed a boba shop that exposed me to great quality teas and tapioca brands, boba milk tea has always been a staple drink in my life since my adolescence. So when I say this shop is pretty damn good for a city in the middle of the valley, ITS GOOD. Like I'm even impressed with their fruit teas and not many boba shops execute the fruity category. Fruit drinks are refreshing. A mixture of a tea based concoction with fresh chopped fruit, chia seeds, and fresh picked mint. It may be a little sweet for some, not gonna lie, but I'm sure you can request to adjust the sweetness or drink a quarter of it, add some water and boom, instant refill without comprising the taste. So far I've tried: -mango mint tea -strawberry mint tea -peach tea -peach & passionfruit mint tea (tastes like hi-chew) For milk teas, this is what I judge these spots on- like how are you gonna have a boba spots without staple MTs?! So I've ordered: -hazelnut MT (first order) -caramel MT -jasmine MT (first order) -vanilla chai MT -Thai Tea Not gonna lie, the flavor can be inconsistent from time to time but the caffeine can wake your ass up. Toppings, boba is inconsistent with texture but well sweetened. I recommend getting a sample just to check if you're okay with the boba texture. I prefer a bouncy chew. Hate it when it's extremely engorged and easily falls apart in my drink or rolling around on my tongue. Other toppings I encourage trying are grass jelly, egg pudding (both made in-house), lychee jelly and coffee jelly. read more

By accidence, I have found a line outside at the new Star Tea Boba between La Orchid Nail and Country Skillets on West Yosemite Ave. Once I am inside, Star Tea Boba is beautifully decorated with plants and flowers. The menu on the wall with the white background is simple and easy to read. I ordered the orange kiwi tea and shrimp roll. The tea has a nice and rich flavor from how it is brewed. Shrimp roll is perfectly wrap with lots of vegetable and shrimp to be dipped in a special sauce. The staff was friendly and the service was really nice. While I was there, I talked to people coming from Stockton. I really like the overall experience while I was there. I wanted to give Star Tea Boba a 5 stars review and recommend it if you have not had boba drink before. read more
