After extensive research and conversations with several professionals, it was important for me to work with someone who not only had the expertise but also inspired confidence and a good gut feeling. I was very pleased to find Dovetail Antiques. From the beginning, they were professional, responsive, and extremely attentive throughout the process. Their knowledge of antiques and estate items, combined with their thoughtful and respectful approach, made what could have been a very overwhelming situation much more manageable. I truly appreciated the care, time, and attention they provided during a very difficult period for me. I would absolutely recommend Dovetail Antiques to anyone looking for knowledgeable, trustworthy professionals to assist with estate liquidation or antique sales.

I tried calling a few places I found on line and left voice mail messages, but NO ONE got back to me. Then I called Ewald's in Torrington, and Zygmunt, the owner and a true furniture craftsman, answered the phone. He asked me to email photos and we made an appointment for a consult. He and his wife Olga patiently led us through the whole reupholstering process. Our old pieces are reincarnated even better than before. Check out his website (www.Ewalds.net), click on some of the services he offers, and take a look at his and Olga's work. If you think, these pictures look too good to be true, you are wrong. That's really the result you get with Ewald's. A big plus is that Zygmunt and Olga are lovely, hard working people.

Quality work! Highly recommend Ewalds for any and all furniture restoration and refinishing.read more

Oh my word the pies! I was fortunate enough to visit the auction with my family, and had heard about all of the unique, vintage finds that you can get there. I was intimidated to bid at first as I've never really been to an auction. But once I saw others do it, and how the ladies on the stage yell out the bid, I was entertained from the beginning and got into it. The owner/auctioneer Richard is quite funny. He livens the place up with his quirky comments and provides a non-threatening, overall fun environment. I came home with a side table, a white trunk, a box of silk scarves and several glass items. All for about $50. Love it! Although the auction is awesome, I do need to give a shout out to the pie maker. Holy cow. I've tried a cream pie and a fruit pie and both are to die for. Even if you don't want to buy anything, it's still worth coming just for the pie.

I had…read morebeen going to Ehrlich Decorating & Upholstery in Hartford and was beyond pleased with their selection; their customer service was also top notch. But there was a specific fabric I couldn't find at Ehrlich's so I had to go looking for another source. Mila had MUCH more fabric on hand. They also have a lot of fabric you can order - about the same amount as Ehrlich's, but different kinds. After spending months (literally) trying to find a specific fabric at Ehrlich's, Jo Anne's, etc, I found it in 15 minutes at Mila. The only downside to Mila is that the owner (I presume) lacks social grace and customer service skills. I found him to be pushy and incredibly condescending (and not just to me). I also had the distinct feeling he was rushing me and trying to avoid having to place a custom order. He's the type, you know, who is always right and you're an idiot. I hate those types! I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the owner. If you're looking for a robust alternative to your usual fabric/upholstery place, try Mila, but try to work with one of the women. Hopefully they won't roll their eyes at you...
