We were greeted immediately by a gentlemen behind the counter. He said sit anywhere and he would be right with us. He was very attentive to our needs without asking...extra napkins, brought new drinks etc. Very pleasant waitstaff. The restaurant is nothing special but it is clean. You have choices of sitting in a booth, at high tables or at a regular table. 2 TV's which was on Hockey (no biggie) I don't remember the music but I know some was playing. You have a choice of many sizes and types of crust. They have many premade options but you can also build your own. They also have by the slice. I can now say I've been to all of the Starr pizzas in Houston! Well this one is in Katy and it's simply amazing just like the others. I've been going to start pizza for a very long time and let me tell you what they're serving some of the best pizza in town. We order 10 pizzas to go for a meeting and they were all amazing. My personal favorite is always the deep dish pepperoni on wheat. I didn't even know they had wings, those are simply amazing. The customer service is top-notch here. I'm going to give one exception to what I think is an excellent pizza experience in and around Houston, Texas, which is star Pizza. First of all, I have never had anything but a superior pizza at this establishment. Since I generally do take out, I can't speak to the Service or ambience beyond that which involves serving a pizza at the time promised. Since I don't ever expect pizza to be fast food. I am willing to accept the assessment of the establishment relative to how quickly they conserve a pizza but for whatever reason they have a tendency to underestimate time Considerably which in my mind is inconvenient. The other issue is tips for takeout starting at 18%, I am generally a very generous tipper to be very honest however, I find their promise of time and the very short service interaction to not demand an 18% tip. I was getting my truck serviced at Discount Tire around the corner and it being noon and all, decided to go over to Star Pizza. I hadn't ate at a Star in years - pre-covid for sure and at the original just outside of D/T Houston. The lunch buffet was the best ever. So when I walked in, there was no one in the place and it was 12:15. Kinda thought maybe I didn't know something. But I was there so in I went. Sat down and got me a Coke. I used to live in the rice village area while in college and I regularly used to visit 59 Diner and the Original Star Pizza at Shepard near I-59. Recently , in the last few years , i've moved back out to Katy and found that they have Star Pizza here in Katy now... and can I say even if it is a smaller venue with a small version of the original locations menu... in no way has the quality of ingredients and preparation diminished at all... its still made from scatch and crave worthy!!! I also wanted to say the staff here is amazing! Everything was attended to quickly....And with a hospitality that you would normally expect at fine dining restaurant... i haven't been this impress at customer service in quite a long time. My husband is on a mission to find his favorite deep dish pizza. One of our Chicago friends who now resides in Houston recommended this place as one of his favorites. Going off of his recommendation, we tried the Hank. It has Italian sausage, mushrooms, and olives. My first impression - wow, this is a beautiful pizza! We called it in ahead of time to take it to-go. It usually takes 20 -25 minutes to prepare a deep dish. They have gluten free, New York style, and Chicago style deep dish. Overall, this is an upgrade from Papa John's. We were visiting relatives in Katy, and we wanted to enjoy some pizza from Grimaldi's. We love Grimaldi's in Pensacola. Unfortunately, they were stoking the ovens and weren't serving pizza when we stopped by. Therefore, we tried the nearest pizzeria, which was Star. Service was excellent. The young man and young woman who assisted us were great; friendly, knowledgeable and hospitable. We were told that it would be 25 minutes, but it didn't take that long for our medium pepperoni pizza. The pizza was hot and tasted fresh. It was definitely in the Papa John's ballpark, but better. The mozzarella, tomato sauce and crust were tasty. The chocolate cake, however, was just ok. The interior was quaint and clean. A nice, no frills restaurant with great service and good food. Terrible customer service. I walked into the restroom and was immediately met with a rude, stinky look from a staff member. When I came out, I asked her if there was an issue, and she replied that she gets annoyed when people leave the restroom dirty. I let her know that I had cleaned up after myself and that her condescending attitude was completely unnecessary. When I suggested that if she didn't enjoy her job, maybe she should consider doing something else, she smugly responded that her dad owns the place--as if that excuses unprofessional behavior. It's one thing to have a bad day, but it's another to treat customers with disrespect for no reason. I came in for a carry-out order and the lady taking my order was so rude! I was asking her about the menu and her response was, I don't know, you can read if you like or not. It's so big, I don't know what's on it. You would think that would be part of training, to know the menu. Then, she would not omit or change anything on the pizza, I even told her I'd pay extra. Not sure this would be my first place to head back to for a dine-in experience. The dining room is fairly lackluster, and despite menu photos they are not currently offering a lunchtime buffet, just lunch specials. But Star Pizza is always fantastic, right?!?! I had been excited to visit what had always been "an inside the loop experience" out in the 'burbs. I was the only customer for a 12:30 PM dine-in weekday lunch. So it was very quiet. The service was friendly. But for some reason my server opted for awkward whispering?!?! I selected the $12 Salad & Personal-size Pizza special. Customers can choose between white or wheat crust, and either NY or Chicago style, plus up to 3-toppings. The portions were reasonable. and I felt the pizza was the perfect size for lunch. My first experience was at the Kirby location but rest assured, Katy is soooo lucky to have a store here too! Quality is absolutely the same. We have our favorites and they know too: Ben's Large Wheat New York and Veggie Personal wheat New York. They don't skimp on the toppings and they provide pepper flakes and extra Parmesan. I grew up in Houston and loved this place. My husband had never been, so we decided to order in. We decided to each order our own personal pizzas. He had Ben deep dish on wheat, and it was huge and tasty. This pizza was full of goodies and so good. I had a personal NY crust. I ordered mushroom and beef. Holy cow! It was so good and tasty. Not too much sauce and not skimpy on the cheese. It was perfect! I absolutely loved the pizzas and we will be back. My only issue and it's only a small one; the price. The original Star Pizza back in the 90s was the best pizza I've ever had anywhere. Although not really pizza, but pie. Giant pies filled with goodness. I had many great, memorable times there with friends and family. It was such a great place to hang out. It was by all means, a Houston institution. I couldn't believe it when this new restaurant opened in Katy a couple of years ago. "This is awesome" I thought. I hate to say it, but this is the fifth pizza I've had from this location that is just ok. It's not the Star I remember. The service is excellent. The restaurant is clean (unlike the original location). Maybe, I'll try it again. They are better than their completion. We've been going to Star Pizza for the last 16+ years, mostly at the Norfolk location and a few times at the Washington location. We moved out to the Richmond/Katy area 13 years ago, and don't get to go as frequently since then. It was serendipity to hear that a new location was opened up in Katy, only about ten miles away from our house!!! If you've never been to Star Pizza, please don't let the unassuming storefront in a strip center dissuade you. They are absolutely delicious, and this location should become a fixture in the community for years to come! I highly recommend the New York style medium, on whole wheat, half chicken Alfredo, half Hanks (or Starburst)! We always get a Greek salad while waiting for the pizza to cook, and end up with two pieces for snacks/lunch the next day! Please check them out, and let me know what you think! Really good pizza! Came here for heart shaped pizza on valentines day. It was the perfect family date experience. The location wasn't busy, but they really took their time and made some amazing pies. I've been to the location on Washington many many times and haven't had an experience as good as this one. Crazy because that other location is always packed... Garlic bread was lightly flavored but pretty good. I kind of dislike the fact that only the top was crispuy, but the rest of the bread was not toasted. Wings were really good quality and had that just cooked aura. Sauce was not my fav kind of buffalo, but still good. It wasn't really crispy though. Didn't like the ranch sauce at first, but it grew on me. The Ben pizza was pretty delicious. That much meat is not my cup of tea, but it would def meet any meat lovers expectation. For me, it was so thick that I felt like it was more like a lasagna. No complaints about taste. It was pretty filling. Definitely much improved service and food! The staff is always friendly and welcoming! As you can see, we've been here a good amount of times (we were here just last weekend). Our favorite is the Ben, which we get Chicago deep dish, on wheat crust. It's full of great tasting meat and the crust is - out boys can't even tell that it's wheat. I thought that the fan are would have died down by now, but this place still gets pretty crowded on weekend evenings. Getting here at opening really makes a difference. read more

Tried this spot for the first time and loved it! It's a small quiet location. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service. I ordered a deep dish and received a regular pizza, which was not a major issue to me so I didn't say anything about it. But the waiter noticed after bringing my food and he didn't make me pay for the pizza. That's top notch, above and beyond customer service!! He got a huge tip and a repeat customer!
