If I could give 0 stars I would. I asked for the wait time and when they said 10 minutes. They noticed the dissatisfaction on our faces and was like you guys can wait 10 minutes and you can go somewhere else :/ wow. Then they tried to charge $19 for a wax that other places charge $10. Absolutely horrible service. Never will I go there Again. read more

They're honestly a whatever nail salon, I had to be on top of the nail tech showing him parts to fix and what not. I asked if they had rhinestone, they said yes, towards the end when they go to put on the stones they don't have the special glue for the stones and decided to stick it on with gel polish topcoat (if you don't know that won't last more than a week), they ended up not charging me for the stones because he knew he wasn't correctly applying it... if you're very picky don't come here for tip+dip or acrylics! read more

Great pedicure for a great price! The couple that owns the salon are so sweet and attentive. I don't live here and used the previous reviews to select a place. I was very happy. read more

Welcoming man at the entrance but they are definitely not specialized in eyebrow waxing...the woman who did my eyebrows waxed and plucked away :-( read more

Zee is a wonderful addition. He is new to this shop but has been doing nails for 20 years. Did a great job.

Excellent service and the employees are friendly, and anxious to please. Lisa gave me a perfect mani-pedi. I highly recommend Star Nails! read more

I loved it here. If you go, I recommend the owner of the place (man, age around 52?) does your nails. He pays very close attention to detail and does a great job. He did both my mani and my pedi. I got french on both. I didnt get fake nails since they ruin your natural nail and out of all the manis ive ever had, he did the best job! way better than the nails i got done for my senior prom. I will continue to come here throughout my years at UF. I'm glad i found it the summer of my freshman year! read more

I have been looking for a new nail salon because I am new to Gainesville. This was the first salon I tried and was not happy. I always get a gel manicure and they always last me 2 weeks+ but the gel manicure I got here only lasted 4 days. I would have given maybe 2 stars if the environment was friendly but it was just silent in the salon although it was a full house. read more

Fantastic experience! Wide selection of nail polish. They have a relaxing atmosphere. The owners are very nice and very good at what they do. I would highly recommend! read more

I came in for a full set and Dennis made my neglected hands and feet look beautiful!! I couldn't have asked for better. Staff was smiling and patient. I will definitely be back! read more

Very nice ppl, but 38 bucks for a pedicure and my feet feel ROUGH and the paint job is pitiful. Find a different place. Seriously.

This is the salon where customer service went to die. I have been there twice and both times the owner's wife was rude, surly and clearly talking about the customers behind their back (actually to their face but unless you understand her language....). Her husband actually had to literally tell her to be quiet after spending 10 minutes clearly kvetching about a customer who wasn't happy with the nail polish application she was receiving. The next time I went for a repair, I explained to her that I don't get polish at all, but just get the acrylic buffed to a shine. She immediately dropped my hand and said "We don't do that." I rebutted with, "well your husband did my fills a week ago and did it." She was *not* pleased. She ultimately *began* the repair, forcing her husband to leave a client to come finish it. That woman is toxic and it is palpable in the shop. It will cost them customers because it cost them this one!! read more

I went here after I had work today and just got a regular color acrylic set. It was 29 dollars really not too bad. The woman and man who work there are nice. The only complaint I'd really have is the woman was rough filing my nails and she cut my skin. The man who painted my nails did a really good job. Also yesterday I got my eyebrows done and they did a excellent Job I would definitely go back. read more

I was just walking by Star Nails and decided to give it a shot. I have never experienced such thorough quality in a nail salon before. Kim Duong is an amazing nail artist and I couldn't believe the time she took to make every nail perfect. I got acrylics, and I'm used to nail artists just barely gluing the tips on and not paying attention to how you want them. Kim ensured that these nails won't be chipping off any time soon. The prices are very reasonable and they deserve a lot more business. I won't be going anywhere else! read more

I went here after having a bad experience at a nearby salon and reading the reviews on here. I can honestly say that I love my gel mani and pedi. The technician took his time, was very friendly, and left my nails looking amazing. I'm not one to leave reviews but they definitely deserve it. I'll definitely be coming back in the future. read more

I have been to Star Nails twice. My first time was great because a gentleman, what seemed like the owner paid great attention to details on my manicure. I went back a second time to get a pedicure and a fingernail polish change. The wife of the gentleman was so rude! STRIKE ONE was when I was choosing my nail polish and before even welcoming me to her franchise she states "you break it, you pay for it." Clearly, that goes without saying and I am not a child so I would know to be careful. STRIKE TWO was when she left in the middle of my pedicure to go wax someone's eyebrows who came 45 minutes after me. I was in a rush just as much as the last client. STRIKE THREE was when she started my friend's and I pedicure without asking which package we wanted. Being a college student we wanted the most economical one but without regard for her clients she did the most expensive one and when we realized half way through it and told her she got mad at us and said "I rub feet, you pay for it!". We were new to their specific pedicure packages and did not know the difference. Then she obviously started talking about us (in her language of course) and started having an attitude when the bill came and we refused to pay for the half done pedicure because she (excuse my language) half ass-ed the rest of our "highest quality" pedicure when we told her that was not what we wanted. Her husband and son had to intervene and and tell her that it would be unfair so they gave us a discount and they finished our manicures. THIS PLACE IS OUT! unless I specifically request for the husband. read more

I have never had such a bad experience at a nail salon. They took an excruciatingly long time- over an hour and half to do a dip manicure and polish change on my toes. Since I was going to be late for another appointment, I hurried and paid right after my toes were done. They took my card, and said their machine was broken after making me wait another 15 minutes. This has never happened with my card before, and they tried it 3 different times, assuring me that even though my card would be charged over $150 now, I would be refunded in a couple of days. Eventually they told me to go to an ATM, which charged me an extra $3 since there aren't Chase banks in Gainesville. read more

They did a great job on my gel manicure, however, their attitude wasn't very nice. I called to find out the price for a gel manicure and design. The lady did the gel manicure and then gentleman did the design. But it was odd that he used acrylic paints (for painting with not nail polish). I showed him the design I wanted and he said, $5. It was stripes with With one heart. He put the black stripe through the red heart and I asked if it works look like that when finished, and he said yes. So I said that's not how the picture looks. So he sighed and removed the line with remover and said, well, I should have charged you more for it then. I felt he should have given an honest price in the first place. I have gotten the SAME EXACT design elsewhere for $5 and without sighing. The lady said, wow, when I said that. when she finished with my design, she watched loud videos on my phone and made phone calls on speakerphone right next to me. She tried to charge me more than the quoted price when I called and argued the price. Very rude service. I'll go somewhere else next time for sure. read more

Previous reviews are right. This is an excellent salon. My husband and son had great pedis and I had a pedi/mani. Highly recommend

Got a fill here. Large selection of polishes and nail tech did a great job with my nails. I was happier with these than I was with the original set! Only losing a star because I got them done on a Friday and one started lifting by Tuesday. Still would go back. read more

One of the worst nail salons i've ever been to. I came in to get my gel manicure taken off and get a regular manicure and she immediately started taking my gel off with the buffing machine. I asked her not to because my nails are very thin and she said soaking off would be $8 instead of $5. I decided to soak them and after soaking she used the buffing machine again because she still couldn't get it off. Then she switched me to someone else to do my other hand and that took another 45 min and he buffed my skin too. He also clipped one of my cuticles, but I asked him not to since they were already hurting from all the buffing. He puts nail polish on two nails and the nail polish is all over the sides of my fingers so I ask him to take it off and get up to leave. I ask the lady if it will cost me $5 since she still used the buffing machine after I asked her not to and she tells me it's going to be $18 total because of soaking and getting my cuticles done. Keep in mind that I had the cuticles clipped on one nail and ended up getting no polish. I told her i will not pay that, so she bargains for $10. I was already there for almost 2 hours just trying to get the gel off so I told her I have to leave and i'm only paying $8. This place is ridiculous and they do not know how to do nails. read more

Terrible! I got acrylics done- he cut them with scissors! He wasn't paying attention half the time so by the time I left I was covered in acrylic. They started raising up and falling off THREE days later! I will never go back! They're salon is dark and dreary. They were friendly but do bad work... read more

Absolutely horrible! The woman wouldn't paint pink and white because it would take to long, kept insisting on white tips, even thought there was no one else waiting on service.. Too rough with the power tool!!!! Very rude, sloppy, nails are rough, with dimples. Ill have to pay twice as much to fix this. I will never go to that $h!thole again. The lady Checked the receipt after I signed to make sure she was getting a tip??!! What a $&@9h. Terrible DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY complete rip off!!! BEWARE! They only get one star because I can't leave no stars. Worst customer service ever! read more

This salon is awesome! The staff was extremely friendly and skilled. My pedicure was both relaxing and well done. I would recommend without hesitation! read more

I went in today for an eyebrow and lip wax and have never experienced such a horrible waxing job. I walked in and it looked like the couple who owned the salon was doing their own nails, which is fine, but when I mentioned I wanted a wax they said "Oh, sit over there" and pointed to a swivel chair sitting directly across from the pedicure chairs. I am no expert but I have been plenty of times to get my eyebrows waxed and have never sat straight up in a chair in the middle of a salon to get them done. Then the couple asked the girl working the front counter to wax my eyebrows, and it seemed like it was the first time she had ever waxed anyone before. Her hand was shaking the whole time and she left pieces of wax all over my face and left out a lot of hairs. She asked me to look in the mirror to tell her if there was more hair. I noticed she missed a spot near my lip and asked her to re-do it. I didn't ask her to go over my eyebrows again as it was obvious she was uncomfortable. I left and paid $16, my 13 year old sister honestly could have done a better job. My eyebrows did not look any better than before. The people were friendly but I will definitely not be going back! read more
