This was an awful cashier experience. Store was not very busy so there were 2 young women bagging while a 3rd rang up my purchase. They ignore my bag for frozen foods and place my ice cream and other cold item in a regular bag then piled canned foods on top. When I asked one not to that she scowled and kept right on doing it. Then she proceeded to put the fresh herbs and produce in a bag and tossed the heavy potatoes and cans on top. For good measure she added a gallon jug on top, which I removed and placed separately in the cart. They were rude and completely self absorbed as they carried on a conversation about how bad their shift schedules were. The Stop & Shop down the road or a Trader Joe's might need to be an option. read more

Someone tried to steal my purse in this grocery store. I leave it at home now if I have to go there.

Yesterday, I ordered a pound of American cheese and got a sloppily cut mess. See pic below. The guy who cut this is clearly poorly trained. Plus, it's obvious that the slicer blades are extremely dull. read more

This out of all the Star Markets I find has the most variety, and the staff have always been helpful to me! Compared to Chestnut hill and West Roxbury, I find the produce better! No bruised fruit, many veggies the other stores don't carry! Salad section is great, Deli is helpful! I love the size and variety I get! I leave West Roxbury and drive a bit further to go to this store! read more

Worst deli department ever especially the assistant deli manager Tery . She is so loud and rude, has no idea how to talk to customers or her own employees. I sat there waiting for over 15 mins I said excuse me could you help me and her response was yeah when I'm ready to. I was the only customer she was busy talking to another employee not in the deli as well as on her phone. I walked away and could her her say good one less white customers to deal with. I did report it to a manager hoping something would be done but went there the other day and she's still there and still loud and rude. I'm done shopping at that star market as long as she is still there. And I've heard the same from many other people some won't go back other won't go to the deli because of her. read more

I was checking out with a couple buddies of mine and we happened to be in the checkout lane of a young man named Avery Orlando. Avery was such a nice kid and was swift with our checkout process. He greeted us with a charming smile and asked about how we were doing. It almost felt like I was having a conversation with a long time friend. I think that Avery deserves a big time raise for the environment that he had provided us. We have the young man a gracious tip along with an Arizona for the young and hardworking man. I have always gone to this market in Dedham, Massachusetts when visiting my mother. When I was last in town, helping my 87 y.o. mother, October 2017, I went to Star Market late one eve. I was charged $20 more on my credit card than what I purchased. I have now spoken to the "night manager" Jerelle four or five times. Each time, he promises to, but he has never looked into this issue. This is a bad feeling. Shame on them for acting helpful four or five times and never following through. read more

Went this morning to this Star location around 11:30 am, went to cashier #8 I believe and asked her if I would be able to buy grapes for sales price since I did not have my phone on me for digital coupon. Cashier said yes and that I need to go to service desk. When I went to service desk, the rep there was very rude and said that she would not be able to weigh the grapes because she does not have a scale at the desk. When I returned to cashier # 8 and told her what rep at service desk said, she told me that now I needed to go to line that took a few items. I asked her why she kept sending me to someone else to give me the sales price and I stayed in her line. Then she rang up my item and I had to ask her how much my grapes weighed so I could calculate if I indeed received the sales price. Another rude person, who appeared to be a supervisor or manager said that the cashier would not be able to ring up on my receipt how much the grapes came up to. Overall, three employees I dealt with on a short shopping trip to pick up three items were indifferent and rude. Aweful Star location in terms of customer service! read more

I travel here from Brookline to do most of my shopping for my girlfriend and in-laws. The store is very large, always well stocked and very, very clean. The managers and employees are all very professional, courteous and helpful. The checkout girls are always smiling, very kind and caring. Dylan does a super job walking the floor, helping customers and checking on the merchandise, to make sure the shelves are well stocked and that everything is running smoothly. There are a wide variety of items to choose from and the prices are reasonable. Their Deli Department does a great job, the food and pre-packaged items are delicious and the Deli is also very clean. The bakery puts out high quality bakery items, such and their sheet cakes and cup cakes. Oh, and their brownies are superb! The Entenmann's delivery guy also deserves great praise because every time I come in to the store, the Entenmann's bakery rack is always fully stocked and they always have our favorite items. (FYI: On a side note, my father's construction company built Entenmann's 200,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y., back in the late 1970's). And, perhaps, most importantly, I can say, without equivocation, that the meat department at this Star Market location, is as good as it gets. Whenever I call in an order for a specific type of steak, the guys that answer the phone are always very nice, professional and polite. They always cut our steaks "made to order" and the steaks always taste delicious. I have never, ever, had a bad cut of meat from these guys. NEVER. The quality is outstanding and it is well worth the trip from our condo in Brookline to come here for their excellent, choice cuts of beef. Last week, I spoke with their manager, Chuck and personally thanked him for the outstanding job that his department does in providing high quality, delicious steaks. Overall, this Star Market is one the top supermarkets in the Boston area (and I have been to dozens of supermarkets) and I highly recommend this location. You won't be disappointed. read more

This store has recently been remodeled. It's SO much better now, even though it was incredible before. Extremely clean, always organized, priced are low, store employees are extremely friendly, and parking is never difficult. Plus the clientele of this store is SO much different than the Stop & Shop down the street (must be because that's much closer to Boston), much less LOUD people and LOUD kids, which at some points drives me nuts! Only complaint: checkout can be longer than hoped for, and they got rid of Self Checkout, yet they said it caused several thefts to the store, which I guess I understand. I like how if go to the service desk and ask for another register to be opened that they will open another (or sometimes 2) rather quickly and in a fair manner to the next person. read more

This review is not for the store as a whole, but for my recent experience with the seafood department. They were having a good sale on lobsters this week, so, as we do often although never here, I called up to order some cooked lobsters for pick up later today. I was told, in a very condescending tone that "oh no, you have to come into the store for that 'dear.'" Uh, what? I have to drive over there, place my order then drive back later to pick it up? Just called Stop & Shop and placed my order, no problem. Theirs are a dollar more this week, but I'd rather deal with people who reasonably accommodate their customers. read more

Great personnel left a good taste in my mouth. I noticed the Cashier and Bagger worked well as a team in addressing customer needs. Also, the Baker helped me make some key decisions. The main reason I am giving this establishment one star is because of the manager, Tom. Tom is extremely passive aggressive and an arrogant prick. I tried to ask for help location an item and he laughed at me as if it was a dumb question to ask. I even complained to an employee and her response was that "nobody likes him." I will no longer be shopping here, simply because of him. read more

I find the store to be well stocked including sale items. Staff is both friendly and helpful.

I had to write this for the up tight old white guy in the fish department who was very rude and threw my orders at me with fish juice slinging and all. Maybe he was mad that I came in and bought 5 lobsters just because it's Tuesday, or maybe it's because I'm black. I don't pull that card often but he was extremely rude to me and nice to everyone else. He yelled at me from over the counter and half bagged my lobsters to the point where they were falling out of the bag. I asked for a piece of salmon and you would've thought I asked for a loan by the way he looked at me. Again, quick bag, didn't check the weight with me and practically threw it over the counter at me. I had to pause for a second because that's how stunned I was at his rudeness. I sent back the Salmon when I was at the register just to give him something to be pissed out and he didn't mark the price down like he should've. I was berated by the cart return lady. I got some groceries and after check out had 4 bags in my cart. I went outside to bring the groceries to my car and a lady, with some sort of foreign accent, made a comment to me about how I didn't need a cart to bring my items to the car and that I should just carry them. Sorry for using the carts that you provided. If you didn't want me to use them then there shouldn't be carts. I always bring the cart back to the return area. This lady ruined my experience.
