I called to confirm specifics on the cake design, and submitted two weeks in advance. 24 hours before pickup time, I received a confirmation email/reminder to pick up the cake. 12 hours before pickup, at 9PM, I received a call saying they could not make the cake design, and cited a copy right issue. Wegmans had no response to me asking why I was informed so late, and no response to me that I previously called to confirm they could do this cake. Honestly, leaving me to try to fix my 6 year olds birthday cake for his party with less than 10 hours before the party should be zero stars...

You can order a deli sandwich to your liking and you can build your own salad at their bountiful salad bar. The salad bar is really nice and is more often than not my main reason for visiting the store. Here you can create your own unique salad with a good variety of salad makings including your basic lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers plus potato salads, fruits and a great variety of other salad toppings, vegetables and dressings. They have a good hot food bar too with various meat dishes, chicken and so forth plus pasta dishes, potatoes, vegetables and more. You'll also find some nice treats in their bakery area such as muffins and cookies. Their deli carries Boar's Head deli meats which is a very good meat company and their cheeses are excellent as well. If you're looking to buy groceries here they do carry quite a few of the essentials. They have a good sized produce area here as well for your fruits and veggies. It is a busy store but the cashiers keep the lines going at a pretty good clip. The atmosphere is nice and it's always a clean store which makes for a pleasant shopping experience. i am glad to find this place on one of my detours, and now i have an option to get groceries on my…read moreway home without driving too far off my route. many times i've been here; i am rather neutral to this place, but certain things do need to be addressed. take my most recent visit, i got 3 items off their flyer coupons (those with minimum $25 purchase), and i bought over $100 of stuff. cashier appeared to scan the coupons, but the balance came down a few cents. it was a long day so i didn't argue with her. checked the receipt, sure nothing came off the coupons. went to customer service, was asked to show the products i bought (which brings us to another issue, as follows), even was suggested to that i took the wrong thing. finally took 10 whole minutes to give me the $3.29 i should have had off quite simply at the checkout line if your fellow colleague had done her job right. no apologies nothing either. you're on the clock, but my time is valuable too you know! i know it depends on the staff; sometimes i do get a more pleasant and competent one. as i was asked to show the products in questions, i looked through my bags and found things not quite where they should be. when i put them on the belt i had the same category of stuff together (meat, veggies, frozen, dry, etc), i don't know, for example, how 2 jars of peanut butter can be placed into two different bags, and some meat got into the same bag as the fruit (which we eat raw). granted the meat is in the thin plastic bag, but given the chance, wouldn't you want them desperate altogether? at other visits, i've found eggs and bananas at the bottom of a bag too. i've worked as a bagger in my early years, i would never do such a thing to my customers. this guy does not look like a person with disability either, so he should know what he's doing. another minor complaint is the placement of their restroom. many other s&s i've been, the bathrooms are inside the market, maybe down the hall next to the deli counter. this one has it behind the cashier counters. so in case you need to relieve yourself, you'll have to leave your shopping cart full of paid or unpaid stuff miles away from the restroom. i'm glad they at least have a functional and relatively clean bathroom, and i gather many other places (ex. Target) have their restroom outside too. but i just find it a bit of an inconvenience that way. in terms of goods selection, this place is alright. not the greatest esp when it comes to special diet (ex. gluten free) or organic fresh food: products are available, but they're scattered or severely lacking in selection. things are on pretty decent sale now and then (50% off seafood, BOGO English muffins), there is also a "permanent" shelf for nearly expired dry goods (bakery items, OTC meds, peanut butter/spread) at greatly reduced prices. and those flyer coupons...if your cashier can successfully scan them through, that is. sometimes you get good "manager specials" on the meats too, but you have to take your chance coz last time i got two organic chicken on half price, one was fine and the other was smelling funky upon opening the same night. ample parking in the lot, easy access back to 138/93/95, liquor store, blue hills bank, and Walgreen in the same plaza. a great pit stop for your daily needs. oh and shell gas station down on 138 too for those who get gas points to use.

The funny thing is I saw a manager walking around with an associate saying the sales were down this quarter. Maybe they can start by fixing the small things like putting condiments behind the deli.

I like that there is always plenty of parking and there is always a shopping cart available (unlike at the Stop and Shop in Jamaica Plain, where there is never a cart, and all the shopping carts that do exist only have three functioning wheels). This store generally carries 80% of the things I want to buy. Unfortunately, this store is also missing a lot. There is no aisle dedicated to offerings of Nature's Promise, which is Stop and Shop's store-brand organic line. Neighboring stores in Jamaica Plain and Dedham both offer that. There is no option to scan as you shop, which makes checking out a much longer wait than it is in Quincy or Dedham, which both offer self-scanning technology at the door. Both Dedham and Quincy also sell wine and beer in store. That may be harder to do in the city given regulations, but Dedham is just much more convenient for me given all the reasons above. I'd want to make this my neighborhood grocery store since it's close to where I live, but for now it's worth it to me to travel to the next town over for a better selection.
