I don't think I would go out of my way to visit this thrift shop, but if I'm in Ojai I would definitely take a peek to see what treasure it may hold. What I found particularly unacceptable was that Elisabeth assumed I did not speak English and then proceeded to speak to my sister about me while I was standing directly in front of her. I understood exactly what was being said, and being treated as though I wasn't capable of understanding or participating in the conversation was both disrespectful and humiliating. There was absolutely no reason to make assumptions about me based on how I look or who I was shopping with. Regardless of a customer's background, appearance, or perceived language ability, they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I am new to town, and unfortunately, this interaction made me feel genuinely unwelcome. A first impression of a community can be shaped by experiences like this, and this was certainly not a positive one. I hope Vons management takes this complaint seriously and addresses Elisabeth's conduct. Employees who interact directly with customers represent the store, and this kind of behavior should not be acceptable. I will be avoiding Elisabeth in the future, and if possible, I will choose another market rather than have another experience like this one.

Ojai Ave. It's the kind of place that instantly feels welcoming--you're always greeted with a smile, and even if you don't find something that day, the browsing itself feels like a small joy. That said, I always seem to find something! I still wear a cozy sweater I picked up there last year, and on my last visit, I found a pair of earrings that I absolutely love. The prices are reasonable and the items are in great condition. Since they're a consignment shop, they do accept items for resale--you get a percentage back when your item sells. If you're thinking about bringing something in, it's best to call ahead to check their process and which days they're accepting items. One more reason to love The Lennon Closet? A percentage of their sales goes toward Traumatic Brain Injury charities, making every treasure you find there even more meaningful. Always check their flyer that has their incredible deals each month, including their Tuesday and Thursday special deals. They have great coffee every day. An incredible deli with all kinds of pastries made fresh and then their hot deli, including Fresh made sushi. Don't forget to check out Westridge market when you're in Ojai. Shoppers BEWARE…read more Yesterday I purchased what I believed was a genuine black leather purse from this shop (along with other items). The purse was tagged and sold as leather for $300+. When I got home, I discovered it's actually vegan leather. Even worse, after wearing it briefly, I developed an allergic reaction around my neck. My skin is very sensitive to synthetic materials. I called the store the following day and they admitted the bag was vegan leather--but refused to offer a refund or any solution, citing a "final sale on accessories" policy. This is misleading marketing and false advertising. Charging leather prices for non-leather goods, then hiding behind a final-sale policy, is unacceptable. Do not shop here or if you do please double-check everything before you buy. I would not trust their labeling or policies again.
