I bought my first new car (1970 Camaro, that I special ordered when I was a senior in high school) and was a loyal GM fan for decades, however my wife and I became disenchanted with the local Chevrolet/GMC dealership due to service issues at the local dealership. My wife bought a new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit at Star Dodge and we were so impressed at every step of the purchasing aspect AND the subsequent service received at Star Dodge, that I soon bought a 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk. The experience in buying my Jeep, and having one issue resolved after I had owned it a few months, I bought a Dodge ProMaster 2500 van. Star Dodge didn't stock the Dodge ProMaster I bought (found the "ProMaster of my dreams" in Wisconsin, bought it and drove it home. Even though I didn't buy the ProMaster at Star Dodge, they treated me like royalty when a warranty problem arose (had to replace the fuel tank) and I then became "branded" to not only Jeeps and Dodge and I'm now entertaining the idea of trading in or selling my 2012 GMC Sierra SLE 2500HD 4x4 for a new Dodge 3500 pickup at Star Dodge, because the service aspect is "day and night" difference at Star Dodge... I just wish they would stock BIG Dodge pickups in a color other than (yuk) WHITE... They had a ProMaster there when I was looking to buy one, but in WHITE (yuk) and white vans look like refrigerators on wheels, laid over on their side. The service rep we use their is outstanding and I have total faith in the service department and their mechanics. I'm a "happy camper" not that I'm going to turn my ProMaster into a mini-motor home... :) read more

Love the service department at Star Chrysler Jeep Dodge. A few years ago, my Uconnect system kept shutting down with an error message. I took it to three dealerships in California and no one could figure out. I was staying in Abilene for a few months and it was really bothering me so I took it to Star. They figured out in 15 minutes that it was a radio software upgrade that was needed and fixed it. 15 MINUTES!!!! The service staff is super knowledgeable! Fast forward to this week, the same issue started again and I took it to them again and they updated all of the software and reset my radio. Dalton, my service rep, was very attentive and helpful. Called about an issue and they said not to bring vehicle in since no engine light is on...I asked just for a simple calibration of fuel gauge as it is said only by dealership. For 2022 and up , dealerships will sell you vehicles but screw you after you leave and don't want to check your vehicle if there's an issue, I love ram but these dealerships suck read more

Don't buy a car or get service from these crooks. They have lied repeatedly to me and my wife about fixing our car. Was told by the Sales Manager BOB Jones that he would work around my schedule to fix the trim that didn't get repaired on an earlier visit. When I got there he asked if I had a ride because he needed to keep the car. This is a Friday which means they would have it over the weekend with no one to work on it. What a cluster f**k!!! Nobody takes initiative or thinks!!! Took the GM to get a phone call back to schedule a appointment. Dropped the truck off n a week later finally get a quote to replace a coolant resovoir. Over $700 for a $60 part. More than $500 in labor. WOW!!! Call them in the AM tell them don't do it then show up at 2pm n still waiting to get the truck!!! Grrrrrr!!!! Obviously no supervision happening here. Talked to the service manager n got lip service n excuses. Now I get raped for n oil change!!! Wife's truck (same one)was only $160!!! They are charging me over $350!!!! I was left stranded about 800 miles from home over the Christmas holidays with 4 kids and my wife with no rental cars available because they me a used van that turned out to be a lemon that they said they checked out , but obviously did not. Transmission leaking after a month, alternator failed, antifreeze completely leaked out, electrical issue with stalling and starting, fuel pump went out, and the blower for the heater wasn't working properly either. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Nothing but crooks . I purchased a used Chevy Traverse from there and have had nothing but problems. 3 times I have taken the car back to get work done and always have to pay out of pocket just to get it looked at . And everytime it's always something that's not covered by warranty and I'm always paying even more out of pocket . This time I had it diagnosed before taking it so I already knew what the problem was and still have to pay $185 to get it diagnosed (absolutely nothing fixed ) just for them to say it's a bad battery which I bought a new one 2 months ago. So obviously it's not the battery, so instead of paying just $100 out of pocket and getting it fixed ,I'm stuck paying $185 and a car that still not working . Just a FYI the first time I had to take it back was within the first 2 months of purchase and had to pay for everything to get fixed when obviously I bought car from them that was already needing repair. read more

We are writing this review to provide a word of extreme caution and lesson learned for future buyers. Ask any question you can think of, repeatedly, and do not trust what you are told unless you see it for yourself. My husband was alerted to a buyer's program provided by his employer that covered Jeep. We were contacted by a salesman and agreed to come in and see what the numbers actually look like. Our "must haves" were simple- heated seats, auto start and in a faraway dream the driver 1/driver 2 settings built in. He was upfront in letting us know we wouldn't be able to get in a Wagoneer with the cost we were hoping to maintain and offered to look at the Grand Cherokee. As we have small kids in car seats I asked if there were any larger than 5 seats and he told us about the L. We agreed to look at that. There had been one on the lot and just that morning it was sold to an employee. The employee brought it back for us to look at and test drive. We were shown all the features of the middle row captain chairs, heated seats and wheel, driving modes, and trunk auto-close and safety features. In looking at the 5-seater the middle row had less leg room and no back individual air. We asked to proceed with looking for an L style. After the dealership searched we were told there was a model in the color we wanted the same as the one we test drove with TWO exceptions- middle is a bench and it didn't have heated seats. We inquired if it was cloth or leather as leather would be a no go without the heat. We have another jeep and that is an issue in the winters. Once we learned it was cloth we agreed to proceed and started the price negotiations. Through negotiations we got to a price we were all satisfied with and started the paperwork. We were told the car would be there in a few hours. Once that was done we went and ate, cleaned out our old vehicle and returned to pick it up. It was the end of a long cold day and they were kind enough to get our car seats moved over. We all loaded up in the vehicle, thanked them for the service and went home for the evening. The next morning we went to get ready for the store. I grabbed the keys and noted there wasn't an autostart. Hmm, that doesn't seem right we made it very clearly that's a need. Oh well we will follow up. Then I go outside to open the trunk. I press the button, kick my foot like he (salesman) told me to, nothing. We watch some videos on settings and still can't get it to open. Then my husband looks at the non-power open/close and we find a lever. This does NOT have a feature we were told to expect. This is now the second lie of omission. We immediately reach out to the salesman letting him know we are frustrated and would like to speak about ways to rectify this realizing it wouldn't be that day as it was a Sunday. He affirms it will be addressed on Mon. Monday morning rolls around and the salesman reaches out and starts by telling us we are the owners and the model we looked at never even had an auto start. Again- something that was never disclosed and would have ended any potential conversation. We were told he would look in to auto-start options and get back to us with a plan. At this time, we don't have one. We spoke to one of their customer service reps who specifically asked if we were given an opportunity to see the vehicle before signing and told her no. Should we have asked more questions or read through the sticker for every small detail? Yes, we now know we should have. Should we have been deceived in the way we were with such a small "must have" list? Absolutely not. We will never return to this dealership and will be sure to encourage those we know the same. This was the classic slimy salesman/management scheme we all thought was a thing of the past. read more

Their service has been off/on depending on who you work with. Last time I saw them was well over a year ago. I walked out and swore I would never go back. My service engine light came on a couple of days ago and I needed it fixed quickly. I knew what it probably was. I made an appointment online, brought it in early and they were able to get it fixed by the end of the day. The problem? They charge hundreds of dollars above what they should have for the parts and labor. I had looked it up online, even researched my exact year/make/model/zipcode and new what the price should have been. They have been known for being over-priced, and they are. Their service employ didn't really care and rationalized it away. They know there aren't any other dealers for these makes close by and they take advantage of you. I dropped my van off last time and they kept it for 2 days not doing anything with it. All they did was hook it up to the machine to see what code it was throwing. And they told me they didn't have time to work on it then, even though they had had it for 2 days without calling and telling me that. So we rescheduled for the actual work to be done. Took it in Thursday and it should have been done by Friday but never heard from them before they closed. Called Monday morning and left a message and no call back. Called again and apparently the guy that was supposed to work on my van hasn't showed up to work the last 3 work days. And they don't know what to do cause they can't get him to come to work. So once again my vans just been sitting there and they never called to tell me that. The kicker is it's a wheelchair accessible van and I unable to go anywhere with out my personal vehicle. I have to go to a mandatory dr appt weekly, this was told to then upfront, so my vehicle is needed. I guess I'll have to pick my van up once again and just find another mechanic since they don't have anyone there to do it. read more

The insurance paid for a new transmission BUT none of the parts it needs to go with it to be replaced. They want the dealership in my town to cut corners and fix it enough to get through the warranty period. My hometown dealership has been back and forth with them telling them they need to fix it correctly so it will last. They refused to do so, so here we are spilling out hundreds of dollars on a car we just bought from Star Dodge. They will sell you a car on its last leg and not think twice about it, I'm just putting this review on here so others don't end up in my situation. I specifically asked the salesman Brandon, "what if in a couple months the car has problems? " He said " That won't happen, we put it through a 30(can't remember the exact number) point inspection." We appreciate all the time and effort Mr. Denis put into working with us and we are very pleased with the outcome. We visited several other dealerships on our search for the right vehicle and I must say I was disappointed in the lack of knowledge the sales personnel had about the very product on their own lots. How can you sell a vehicle that you know very little about? On the other hand, Mr. Denis knew the vehicles and appeared to have done his homework. John Harvey took great care of us and answered all of our questions. Whitfill (my sales rep) gets 5 STARS, he wasn't pushy, just along for the test drive. there were some frustrations with paperwork, not his fault, just dealership policies and he handled it like a champ. End of the day, paperwork was done, just waiting on detailing, waited 2 hours and they still weren't to my car, he personally went out in the heat and detailed my car for me. I have never seen that at any car lot, thank you sir! Update for 6/27 Took my car to a Mazda dealership to get a key made since I wasn't given a spare here, $1500 later.....the drive terrain belt was cracked, a headlight was out, 20% left of my brakes, flushes and cleanings, front strut was leaking....haven't had this car a week and all the star lot did was brag about how they fully inspect all cars and they are all good to go...well friends, $1500 in maintenance is not "good to go" will not be going back to star any time soon..... read more

Caveat emptor! Long story short, used vehicle was misrepresented by the sales staff. After a 6 hour drive from Houston, the vehicle was not as described. It was described by two sales people as exceptionally clean, but it turned out it had been chain smoked in for 9 years with windows up by the previous owner. The night I got to Abilene I went to see the car after hours. I saw a box of Bounty dryer sheets opened on the center console. That's an old car biz trick to try to remove smells. I told my wife that night at the hotel that the car must smell of something fierce for them to do that. The next morning I saw the car, and yep, the car had a horrible tar smoking smell, along with wet dog smell. The interior panels had scratches from big dogs and parts of the interior where stained dark from years of cigarette smoke. They acknowledged the misrepresentation and offered to take off $500. It wouldn't have mattered how much they took off, as I told them over the phone, I was looking for a clean car. I returned to Houston after a 12 hour round trip drive with nothing but gas and hotel receipts to show for it. Very disappointing. read more

THE BIGGEST LIARS that I have ever bought a new truck from went in to buy a new truck and I asked if my bumpers, grill guard, and gooseneck hitch, exc. would fit the new truck and if not I didn't want the new one. They said oh yes everything would change over and no problem we'll switch everything over. Then after the deal was completed they came over and told me only my steps would interchange and if I wanted any of the other parts I would remove them myself or pay for them to remove them. I make my living pulling a gooseneck trailers and going down roads dealing with large animals so I need these parts and now after buying a truck that is pretty much useless without these parts I have to spend another 3-5000 dollars to do my job read more

The Big Spring location was awful after my experience of purchasing my 2017 jeep wrangled limited with many after market options ie lift kit, winch, bumper , running boards, installed by the dealership. I am having issues with the items rusting and not holding up . They are now refusing to.do anything else after my vehicle has been in their possession for over a total.of 28 days . Spoke to the general manager in Abilene, Tracey, who is over both dealerships, and I have never spoken to anyone who is so rude, and basically calling me a liar, and telling me they have gone above and beyond to fix the issues. We live in San Angelo, but after a horrible experience with All American, refused to buy a vehicle from them. I had my heart set on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. We found a used one in Big Spring at Star Dodge and went to pick it up in February. Long story short, 6 months later we found out that there were some repairs done by the first owner (prior to Star Dodge getting it) that were not reported to Carfax. I contacted Star to see if there was anything they could do since the issue happened before we purchased the Jeep. After a few days of talks and sending photos, they covered the entire cost of the repairs. I was floored. We are military and have bought vehicles all over the US and have never had an experience like this. I don't think any other big dealership would have even tried to help. If I could give Star Dodge zero stars, I would. I personally know 2 other people who have also gone through similar circumstances with their roof leaks as well. My father bought me a brand new Jeep in April of 2014. A couple months later my roof starts leaking extremely bad, it would fill up the storage area above the radio and fill up my cup holders and the carpets and seats of my jeep would be soaked. Also the screws to the t top would not screw in straight. I took my car up there immediately and Rusty told me I would need a new roof and would call me when a new one was ordered. I never got a call and then my AC broke, ON A NEW JEEP. I took my jeep back up there and talked to Jon, he told me that they would need to fix the seals and my ac needed an update, so they fixed one seal out of 2 and did 2 out of 4 updates that needed to be done and told me to come back again. I revisited star dodge only to be told that they now were going to do a seal kit on my jeep and if there were any further problems with my roof that Chrysler would replace my roof no questions asked. Not even a week later it rains and starts to pour in on my left shoulder, so I take it back up there and get to talk to Henry and he now tells me that there is nothing they can do for me anymore. I have a huge problem with their customer service, when getting this update on my Jeep, Henry hangs up on me and gives me a huge attitude the whole time on the phone. This issue has gone on for A YEAR now and nothing has been done but new seals that haven't sealed anything. Personally I felt my issues were never fully addressed and I kept getting pushed under the rug because I am a young female. I will never buy another vehicle from Star Dodge and I strongly suggest others to do the same. read more
