The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.

This facility has a wall of huge windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. It's kept up & clean. There's always plenty of parking...there are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Note, membership is free for Denver residents that are 60+ & those ages 5-18. With membership you have access to all 30 Denver rec centers & pools. I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. While I was there I saw a lifeguard rescue a small kid (maybe 7) from the shallow end of the pool and no less than 30 minutes later the same kid was jumping off the diving board and going down the deep end slide. He was barely keeping his head above water but struggled to get to the side of the pool. The lifeguards should be more attentive to that child and probably shouldn't have let him go into the deep end. But - it's not my pool to run. Just a personal opinion.

My younger kid took swim lessons here and was on the swim team as well. There are new changing areas and everything feels fresh and clean. My favorite part of the remodel is that they kept the same overall feel and didn't gut it just to add splash features and slides etc..

Their hours are posted on their website, where you can get information on when lap swimming is available, when they have swim team, swim lessons and open or public swims. There's a strong group at swimmers that show up for lap swimming. No worries, there's room for all sorts of swimmers, from those experienced at going back-and-forth and those just getting started. There's also a nice baby or kids pool, picnic tables, new locker rooms, lockers (bring your own lock), family changing rooms, some outdoor showers and a group of young lifeguards to keep track of everybody in the pools.

The facility was clean and the lifeguards seemed knowledgeable though not the friendliest. Neither was the front desk lady. One female lifeguard was friendly though. I understand rules for safety but one rule still has me baffled. My godson was using one of their floating devices in the lap pool and he was told only swimmers doing laps can use them. Not like anyone was doing laps and I didn't see any harm using it. The price was great as well. For my children ages 5, 8, and 10 was $12.00 for an all day pass. .

The pool is very nice and has a little water feature for the kiddies and a step up this rec actually has decnet locker rooms!
