Signup for the Staples membership was hard to do on the mobile without the app, so they can do it at the register. Two areas to storing online orders - one is the shelves behind, but they also have a lot of stuff there... so at the other kiosk as you enter for printing design, etc. they store more stuff. Ok. Maybe they are a 4.5 but this is a pretty good store. I've been in here lots of times to recycle old computers, use the UPS services, get shredding done, get stationery plus pens, etc. It is understaffed but so are most Staples. They are overall pretty friendly and competent. They'll try to find odd things and fiddle with the fax machine. And while it may be a necessity, this Staples is as crazy as any at the beginning of the school year. read more

So, pre COVID, I would frequent the Staples off Vauxhall near 5 Guys but their copy service has been subpar. So, I ventured to Jersey City. First off - their copy/print machines are always on point! Second, the Print/Copy team are amazing! Their customer service is sooo awesome! They truly make having to make signs, laminate, etc a pleasant experience. I've been to this Staples a number of times in the past 10 years but haven't necessarily felt compelled to write a review. I figured it was time. I was there a few days ago and it was quite busy because of the back-to-school shopping crowd. The lines were very long and there weren't that many cashiers open despite the long lines. I made my way to the register to pay for my items, and the cashier was very polite and professional. The cashier next to the one checking me out leaned over to offer me a warranty plan for $7.99/3 years on a calculator I purchased. The problem was the cost of the calculator was only $11.99. It wasn't the cashiers fault but I really feel Staples needs to get it together with their (warranty) pricing. I just couldn't make sense of purchasing a warranty at 80% of the cost of the item - even if it was for 3 years. I purchased quite a bit from staples - spending $179 to be exact but I did not get a whole lot of items. In fact, I went next door to Walgreens right after I left Staples so that I could pick up some lotion. Thank goodness I did because I found many of the items for much cheaper there - even half price! Needless to say I did end up returning the items to Staples. I will probably still do a Staples run here and there for small things but never a big back-to-school shopping trip. Also when you go into that small strip mall area which consist of Staples, Five Guys, Walgreens and other stores you will want to know there is absolutely no cellphone reception over there. I'm not sure why but I certainly don't blame it on the owners of the establishments. I'm just letting Yelpers know you're going back to 1985 when you enter the parking lot. Actually come to think of it I think just the parking lot and Staples are the only two places you cannot get reception. The worse printing department around. All the copiers were down, there were no signs. They saw me trying every machine but said nothing until I asked. I then asked to print 20 5x7 cards and was asked if I could come back later, my response was "no I cannot" so she decided to give me a price for a rush job. This Staples location in the Vauxhall Millburn Mall has questionable management. Recently while checking out, I was scammed $40. I decided to get $40 cash back, but I didn't get it. So I called the store and spoke with the manager. Before I explained what happened, she said that all cash machines were balanced. She said she'd investigate it, and get back to me on Tuesday. So another week goes by and nothing, and I call them. She said she saw the video and "saw nothing". So that proves that I didn't get the money, right? Somebody pocketed the money, but it sure wasn't me. And for some reason I'm not allowed to see the video?! And I asked her for which register it was, and she gave me an uncertain answer as to which one it was. ("#1 or #2"). Then she tells me she's going to do a real investigation this time! I'm guessing the first one was really fake, unlike the next one which will be just plain fake. Unlike some employees there who are quite helpful and friendly, I found both the cashier and the manager to be completely incompetent. If you want better service without an attitude, even Guantanamo would be an upgrade. read more

This is one of the worst locations that I have ever shopped at. Every single time I go there to get my ink cartridges, it is NEVER out on the floor. Then, when I try to track down an associate, there's never one on the floor. I usually have to go around the store to find one and I'm usually met with an attitude. This might be obvious to most, but being my ENTIRE work bag got stolen out of my car, I had to go to Staples to stock up on all work-bag-essentials (ie. folders, notebook, pens, NEW BAG), and didn't realize the first day of school was probably not the best day. I can't really comment on the cleanliness of this Staples. Well, yes I can.... it was a mess. But, maybe I'm not being fair since there were 94 school children and their parents fighting over the last pink unicorn folder, while the ugly gray ones were flying across the floor. On 3/16/19 I placed an order with Staples.com for an 80 roll carton of Envision Toilet Paper - order #9810652013. The expected date of delivery was 4/14/20. On 4/9/20 at 9:19 am I received an email stating that my order had shipped - "Items from your order are expected on Thursday, April 9, 2020. Carrier: UPS. Tracking#: 1Z21A0000.......". On 4/13/20 I telephoned customer service (800-333-3330) to advise that I had not received my item. The customer service representative (CSR) informed me that my item would be delivered on 4/14/20. On 4/14/20 I telephone customer service to inform them that I still had not received my item. The CSR stated that the item was listed as "out for delivery" and that it would be delivered by UPS by 8:00 pm. I inquired as to how the CSR arrived at the information since I was currently viewing the status of my order and, according to tracking information, it was still listed as "a label has been printed". The CSR insisted that the item was "out for delivery" and that "UPS delivers up until 8:00 pm". I asked the CSR if there was another number to contact them after 8:00 pm since the information listed on Staples.com was "Mon - Fri, 8 am - 7 pm ET". She said that information was incorrect and that "they are open 24 hours a day". On 4/15/20 I once again contacted customer service to report that my item still had not arrived and the tracking information still listed the status as a label had been created. I informed CSR Robin of my previous calls to customer service along with providing her with the answers I received from those CSRs. CSR Robin reviewed the status of my order and stated that she didn't know why I was told my item was out for delivery because it "disappeared". She reported that she couldn't find any additional information on my item other than a label was created. She asked if I would like a replacement order. I asked how long would it take for me to receive this new order. I was placed on hold and when she came back on the line she stated that she could not provide me with a delivery date. At that point I requested the order be cancelled and the money refunded back to my card. I will never do business with Staples again. I cannot fathom how a company can condone the practice of lying to their customers. Taking into consideration the facts at hand and the fact that toilet paper is a "hot item" during this pandemic, I can only assume that my item was most likely stolen by one or more of their employees. The box weighed 25 lbs and contained 80 rolls of toilet paper. An item of that size would not just "disappear". read more

Only because of geographical convenience I visited this location. I will not visit again. DAY 1: I went to purchase a chair on clearance and the employee was trying to charge me tax that was already included in the price. She looked like she was in the sunken place and was being held against her will. Before purchasing, we asked if we could borrow an allen key to remove the base from the chair in order to fit it in our car. It took them about 10 minutes to bring it. Meanwhile, the store was not busy and people were goofing off in the back. DAY 2: I ordered online for 1-hour pickup. I arrived in 2 hours to discover that my order wasn't ready. The manager said they were busy with back-to-school customers, yet I saw 2 employees on their cell phones and 3 standing around in the back goofing off and telling jokes by the bathrooms. When they finally sent someone to pick my order, he returned to say my stapler was not in stock and I will be refunded for that. HOLD UP! I said, "You're not going to offer an alternative item?" He replied, "You can talk to the manager." Really??? That should be standard to offer something else for what you don't have in stock or order it to come to the store. HOW ABOUT I spoke to the manager and he said I could go get another stapler. When I got to the aisle, THE STAPLER I ORDERED WAS STARING ME IN THE FACE! So I went to the idiot employee and told him the item was in stock, he just said, "OK" and went back to his conversation with two other co-workers. WHAT A LOSER. He could have at least apologized for "overlooking it." The customer service could be better and the reception sucks! read more

The worst print up I've ever experienced on 2 occasions. Coupled with apologetic customer service. I've come to this Staples to print short run PDFs and every time I go there is an issue with the self service printers. 1 out of 4 are in working order. It's my understanding that self service printers are in place to lessen the work load of the print center employees so they can focus on bigger tasks at hand. This is impossible to do when you're troubleshooting every 2 minutes when the task itself should only take that amount of time. Not 10-15 minutes because there's a line of other customers and only 2 people staffed. The employees at the print center are very genuine and prideful of their job but seem to lack the support from upper management i.e. the 1 out of 4 functional copy machines. Why have machines that can't perform the tasks they're supposed to? read more

Made a visit to this place again today trying to get some work done. I thought perhaps after a few months had gone by things would've gotten better. Nope, everything is exactly the same. Poor. Somebody at Staples named Amber said they were going to try and get this place straightened out. That was months ago. Looks like nothing has happened. The copy and print center is a disaster. The Wi-Fi is terrible. Still my 3G service is better. Some machines work some don't. People waiting. The staff is apathetic. It's no wonder they have very poor reviews here. Going elsewhere for good. Do you think it should take over a half an hour for an email to come around? Your server sucks too. Perhaps this is some half assed attempt by management to keep people in the store thinking they're going to buy something. If they truly understood business they'd know that their customers want quick clean efficient service. You've lost another customer again. How the hell do you expect the copy center to run properly when you can't send around your documents via email or retrieve things in email because the company provided Wi-Fi is terrible. The staff was apologetic but that doesn't help much. Being inside the building I was getting poor cell reception and even my 3G service was infinitely faster and better than the house provided Wi-Fi. This isn't the first time either. And, it seems like local employees and management know all about this issue so, it's up to management in higher positions to solve this very poor service. read more

Competitive pricing is what is best about them, but you would be compromising every expectation of a quality and complete job performed by staff that actually knows what they are doing and appear to care about their work. I came for a pencil case for my brother. I asked where they could be found to which they responded "It is not back to school time. We don't have any right now." This about sums it up. I think this Staples branch is worse than others. Another time I asked for a poster board. Staples Print and Copy Center (woman) employee on 4/18/17 at 730pm was not helpful at all. From the time I walked up to the counter she gave me the cold shoulder telling me the brochure can only be printed on self service machines on regular paper. I explained the West Orange location had me send the document to the staples print email address to print the document behind the counter on brochure/cardstock. She then told me my print ID# was expired. I asked her if I should resend the document for a new Print ID# she told me Vauxhall store policy was different from WO. My only two options were to bring in a USB or go through the Staples website which would take 4 hours to process. The employee seemed lazy, not willing to do her job, and definitely she didn't want to go the extra mile to assist a customer. I went to this store to purchase a laptop for my sister who would soon be going away to college. There we spoke to a very helpful rep. Ritchie. We were debating between several laptops and styles. Ritchie challenged us to consider the various options that was available. He encouraged us to purchase a Toshiba laptop with high memory and fast processor for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, we ended up purchasing an Acer which was still a pretty good choice. He was very knowledgeable and gave us over $100 in discounts. He let us know the pros and the cons of each laptop we were considering and made sure we made the best possible choice. I was super satisfied with his service. Shouldn't a print center have done capabilities to make things right? Well this one doesn't.
