You used to be able to recycle Alkaline Batteries here and get credits, but now there's a small charge, and depends on how many you have. But it's the only place I have found that will take them. You can also recycle ink cartridges and get some credit. Also can recycle electronic cords and other computer/tech items. It's a large store and the signage is not particularly helpful, as much of what's in an aisle is not listed, like paper shredders. The appearance of the store has gone downhill since I was last here about a year ago. The women's restroom should embarrass the company,, as the lights would not go on. I had to find an employee to try, and he had to find another employee to try, and she had to jump up and down and wave her arms for a while before they came on. Things were falling off the walls, toilet paper was just put wherever, not in the dispensers, and there were no seat covers in the boxes for those. Overall impression was trashy and not clean. Props to Jacob in the prints center! I ordered same-day invite cards. Unfortunately, I made them too blurry. Jacob redid them (in 20 minutes) to make them brighter, and checked to make sure. I really appreciated all his help! I wish you guys had a better cutting machine, and brought back the rounded edge slicer in store. I will definitely order cards here again, but maybe ship-to-store for the rounded edges and matte finish. read more

I rarely need printer service but could not get one sheet printed at Staples. I sent the self-help print me request several times without a response. Then I went to the computer and try to have it work and it was going to charge me five dollars for one sheet of paper. The whole ordeal took about a half an hour worth of time on a rush project and although there were many people in the store working, customer service was not of interest to these employees. As a business owner I thought you would wanna know that customers are not treated with care or attention. When I took my project across the street, I understood that this is a common problem that you're having there at that location. read more

I live in Chicago and had a special order to place for a client to pick up in Overland Park, KS. Although on line uploading print files is an options, I needed more consulting to get the results I was looking for. I was lucky that Bill answered the phone; he was knowledgeable and extremely helpful in setting up my files to get a full bleed look even though they have laser printing and that's technically not available. He was so patient when I called at least 3 times, and a 4th time to confirm the cost because it was so inexpensive that my boss didn't believe it. Today I had a frustrating and unacceptable experience at the Staples store at 7131 W 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66223.  I searched online for an office chair mat.  Found one for $30.99 and it said there were 34 available.  Imagine my disappointment when I drove to the store and there were none out on the floor.  I went to customer service and asked about availability.  The guy (unfortunately I didn't get his name) said it could be in a box in the back.  I asked if he could go get me one and he said no, that there were over 50 boxes in the back and he had no idea which one it was in.  He said it could take up to 2 weeks to get through them all.  I explained the website showed 34 and that is why I drove to the store to pick it up.  He refused to go pull me a chair mat.  So I told him I was going to go home and order one online for 1 hour pickup, which I did.  Approximately 1 1/2 hours later I received an email stating the item is unavailable.  THE WEB SITE SAYS THERE ARE 34 AVAILABLE.  NOT 1 or 2 BUT 34!  I'm sure the guy just went in and marked the order unavailable so he didn't have to go through 50 boxes to find it. 1) the guy at the store was rude, unhelpful and lazy 2) don't advertise things on your website which are not true (34 available for 1 hour pickup).  This might constitute false advertising or bait and switch.  I'll look in to that to pursue. 3) no wonder companies are going out of business because people are ordering off of Amazon.  When online websites are inaccurate, stores don't deliver on their promises, and staff is rude, unhelpful and lazy, companies only have themselves to blame. read more

Staples Sucks. So I went into this Staples as usual not expecting any miracles. And of course the first thing that is always noticeable is the lack of employees to answer any questions. But my beef with them stems from a set of headphones I wanted to buy. I used my iPhone to scan the bar code to see what the prices were locally. So the price for them was $29.99 at Wolf Camera and they had it at $49.99. So I went to the front desk and asked if they price matched. And of course they asked if it was a local store and not a on line vendor. So they match the price, I walk out of the store and every thing's peachy right? heh. So then the associates proceeds to look for the phone to wolf camera to verify the price! I mean seriously?? First time that has EVER happened with ANY store. So after spending five full minutes looking for the phone and not finding it, he then takes another 5 minutes trying to look up the price on their website! After not being able to look them up he finally decides to give up his search and then honor the price match. WAY too much garbage to go through and trashy customer service. The only thing Staples is good for is reminding you how awesome Office Depot is. read more

I ordered Coastwide Professional paper towels and a paper towel has never angered me more. They are super thin and not very absorbent. The worst part is that they don't tear evenly. Every time I rip a towel off of the roll, only a few tiny piece come off. Definitely would not recommend buying this product unless it is you last resort. So unbelievably frustrating. read more

What a mess. I have had a horrible few experiences here. Small breakdown. 1. Manager accuses me of money laundering for buying visa gift cards. I was purcashing witg a credit card with my name and an ID. I buy these all the time for promotional gifts . Not there anymore. 2. Manager decided to call I indian Americans ''dot heads" while on the phone in the parking lot. 3. After reporting these two items to staples headquarters the manager or someone from that store created craigslist ads using my rewards information (assumed because location of the ad was pinpointed to that store). 4. Manager also banned me from the store after the reports and called and had my account blocked online. 5. Went in to get a a screen protector for my phone and they have this fabulous stuff, like liquid armor for your screen. You can take your keys to the screen and not even a scratch ! Very helpful! While they put the stuff on my phone walked round and got some back to school supplies that were very reasonably priced and some good deals too! read more

The tech dept. at all office supply stores run an auto-mated system for solving computer issues. More than likely, the fact that you needed someone else to install a Two Screw installation means you know diddly-shit about computers and your opinion is about as valid as mine is on politics. Staples tries their best, if they're out of stock, that means you were slow to get there. "While supplies last" is a common phrase in retail, it's another term for "slow ass customer complains too much." Some people should be put down. read more

boo! after a weeks long hunt for a new printer, the one i landed on was available at staples. yes, it was slightly more than it was online, but hey! i could get it today! (or so i thought)...so before trekking out to southern southern southern joco, i gave them a call to make sure they had some in stock. they had two, but could only hold it for an hour (and made it sound like that was really doing me a favor), so i said i'd be on my way. when i arrived, there were none in sight, so the manager looked them up for me. he said there were 3 in the store, and wondered who i talked to on the phone when i called earlier...10 minutes later, he breaks the news that they can''t find any of the 3 printers. would i like them to call the zona rosa store to see if they have any? i ask if they have the same hold policy of 1 hour, and he said it really depends on who answers the phone. i point out it will take me nearly that long to get there anyway, i'll just buy one online, thanks for nothing. he points out that staples doesn't carry them online. i point out that it's unlikely i would look at their site again, let alone shop it. zero stars needs to be an option here. read more

I've never left a review in my life, so that tells you my strong dislike towards this store. They are horrendous. I stopped in their printing services department to have a custom stamp made. The gentleman at the counter said that he was not capable of making my stamp but took a note with what I needed it to say, along with my name and phone number. He told me that someone would call me in a couple of hours. I waited until late that night and called over to see if they were able to make my stamp. An older lady answered the phone and said that the printing services department was busy. She took my name and number and said they would call. I waited and went in the next day. A young lady was working in the department. She said she never got my request and acted frantic and frustrated. She too, said she would call me back after giving her my name and number. They never called. I went to Office Depot on 135th and Mur-len. They did it in a couple of hours. Please stay away from this store. They are horrible. read more
