A last minute decision to make a $30, 16x20 print for an event welcome sign led me to Staples. And like all my other print projects, these guys came through in a pinch and it turned out great! I needed a sign within 48 hours. I went in and dropped off the file and the guy had a bit of a quiet period and got right to work. He told me to get in there by a certain time to allow for it in his print schedule. I got there just in time, they cranked on in it, and I was able to take home a beautiful sign the same day (only because he was all caught up with this schedule). I LOVE the printing department here. They are very good when we purchase a case or more of paper (very heavy) of putting in the car for me. We have also used their printing services here. My satisfaction with that is a bit more spotty. I do like the product in the end. We usually have some labels printed. Depending on who is working. sometimes the process of getting what we want is easy and other times more difficult. read more

I do most of my office supply shopping online, using my business-to-business suppliers, but I shop at this Staples when I need something quick. Their stock is good, and I've never left empty-handed. Their prices are pretty competitive, and they'll price match. Their 80# house-brand copy / fax paper is really good quality, compared to other budget reams in the market. It feeds effortlessly, never jams, toner sticks nicely to it, ink doesn't bleed too badly, and there's minimal curling in high humidity. It's probably one of the best budget copy paper reams on the market. In-house printing is competent, fairly priced, though they sometimes take a little while if there are a lot of jobs ahead of you. Their outsourced printing prices seem okay, for the neighborhood, but can't compete with going directly to the print shop. Their customer service is also top notch. They always check with me to see if I need assistance, and always seem to know their stuff. I recently went shopping for a new office chair, and Linval helped us pick out the absolute best option, among many. He made sure we got the best deal, applying a discount coupon at checkout - 5 star service. It's really hard to compete with my online B2B office supply vendors, but this Staples is about the best option in the area. Went in here to scan large news articles. The women in charge of the photos and copies section was very nice to help me out figure out the machine, and once I got the hang of it, it was very easy to use ! If you do it yourself, it will be 50 cents per page. ( NOT BAD ! ) I also had many ink cartridges that needed to be recycled. Once at the register I gave them a bag full of them. Unfortunately, they only accept 20 ink cartridges per month. They accept all brands ( From what I could tell, since I had more than one brand ) When you're checking out don't forget to tell them you are a rewards member ! I had a problem with my Dell desktop computer - the sound suddenly turned off and I tried everything to fix. Had friend who takes care of computers who absolutely couldn't figure it out after an hour. When I called Staples in Highland Park today - I was lucky enough to find Mike C - he was wonderful and kind and so knowledgeable. Absolute WORST online experience, 800 numbers staff incompetent people and in store A, good luck finding a red shirt for questions or help, B. on phone to HP location...equally clueless. Stick with Geek Squad/Office Depot supplies...unless desperate. In store March 2015: Checking out, my debit card would not "take" at customer module. 'Your cards no good', the elderly checkout person proclaimed. I swiped several more time, and he shrugged his shoulders, 'No good, I told you'. I asked him to swipe it on her check-out register. 'Why...it's no good'. By this time the manager was looking in on this circus and DID swipe through the register...and of course my card was accepted. They price everything above what everyone else does, and do price comparisons, but it;'s a pain in the ass...like the store team is. read more

I've stopped here a lot recently and every time I go early in the morning, the young woman working the counter is the most pleasant person I encounter that day. Always very sweet and offers a very nice smile! I do get pretty tired of hearing "Are you a rewards member? You can save up to 15% on your purchase if you are!" (or however their spiel goes). I go here for my printing needs and everyone there is friendly and professional. However, I called today 12/30/20 to ask a simple question about their hours for New Years Eve. A man named John answered and his reply was "yeah why wouldn't we be" and then I said well I wanted to see if you were open for the holiday and his response was "yahh" like I should know this. I know we live in crazy times but come on. A simple question gets a sarcastic rude response. I would rather a simple mistake by an employee than a man with an attitude any day. read more

I agree with those who rated the customer service poorly. I purchased a clip-on desk lamp from this store. They had only one style of clip-on desk lamp in inventory. There were 5 or 6 of this same clip lamp with a sale sign in front of them stating that the clip lamp was on sale for $12.99. I needed a clip lamp so Although it wasn't exactly what I wanted, I figured for $12.99 it was good enough. When I got home I looked at the receipt and was surprised to see I was charged $19.99. I took it back the next day expecting I'd get an apology and a credit for the overcharge. Instead I was told it was $19.99 and that I probably saw a "$12 sign for tape" laying on the shelf. I went back to where the desk lamps were and saw the clip lamps where they were when I purchased mine with a $12.99 sale sign in front of them, clearly stating the sale was for a black clip lamp. I asked to speak with a manager. Steve came out and I asked him to walk to the desk lamps with me. I showed him the sign and lamps and he explained someone had overfilled the shelf and that my lamp was $19.99. I asked to see the $12.99 clip lamp. He said they were out of that one but he could try to order it for me. I suggested he remove the $12.99 sign if he didn't have the item in stock. He readjusted the sign in its place and said no, because they may get some back in stock. Really? I would think at a time when brick and mortar stores are fighting for survival they'd realize that customer service is all they have. This is why I am a loyal Amazon Prime member. The people who work in the copy and print department are great. They genuinely care about my projects and help me so that they look as good as possible. If I know I'm visiting my parents, I'll make sure to bring my projects so I can have them done here. read more

Pretty disappointed with the customer service here. I purchased some Logitech Bluetooth headphones and didn't realize that they had very short 14 day return policy....I was 6 days past. Manager said they could do a return without receipt which would essentially charge me a restocking fee. I was okay with this since it was my fault for not being aware of the return windows. I was not okay when they offered to give me only $10 back on a $70 dollar item. This is simply gouging and when I told the manager Spencer that I didn't think this was very fair, he did not offer any alternative nor did he seem to care much that I was upset about the policy. I told him I would take my, and my company's business away from Staples and this did not seem to phase him so now Staples will never get my business again. I'd rather buy things online for less money with generous return polices. You blew it Staples. read more

I am stunned at their lack of customer service. I purchase a good deal of items for my company through Staples. (I will be discontinuing this). I had a very bad experience trying to return a printer that I bought as new. When I opened it I could see ink stains, suggesting that it was a refurbished model or already used. It appeared to be missing a part as well. I sent an employee to return it at the Glenview store and they were told that that they would not accept the return unless they had the original credit card that it was purchased on, and not the employee's company card. I then took the printer to Highland Park and was told that it was past the 14 day return period. The cashier treated me terribly, as if I were trying to scam them or get away with something. I asked to speak to a manager and explained that I purchased an item in good faith and found it missing a piece and that it was a refurbished item when I paid for a new item. It took 20 minutes for him to get clearance from corporate/online to make the return. How can you run a business with such bad service? I'll spend our company's money elsewhere. read more
