I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience with Staples' Amazon return service was so frustrating that I felt compelled to share. I typically drop off Amazon returns at the UPS store across the street because they're fast, efficient, and the staff is always polite. Refunds usually hit my account the same day or within 24 hours. Hoping for the same convenience, my daughter dropped off a return at Staples last Thursday along with her own returns. When I called the store today to check on the status (my account still hadn't been credited) and my daughter thinks she misplaced the return receipt. After, I made it through the auto attendant and was transferred to an employee named Aaron who didnt bother to share his name until i asked for it. I simply asked, "I have a question regarding an Amazon return. Did I reach the right department?" From the very first second, he had an attitude and responded with something like, "Well yeah, I can..." as if I was bothering him or that he had to take the call. Before I could even finish explaining the situation, he cut me off and said, "There's not much I can help you with." I asked him to let me finish my question as it ha nothing to do with my amazon account or credit. Then, I asked about when Amazon typically picks up or ships the returns, since I normally see credits within 24 hours. He insisted it takes 3-5 days per Amazon policy and became argumentative when I told him thast a false statement. He then said, "I do this all the time. I don't know what your experience is," in a condescending tone that implied I had no idea what I was talking about. As someone who owns an e-commerce business and uses Amazon as one of its platforms, to ship daily, and regularly handles returns as well having our own returns on the platform, this was especially insulting. His need to belittle me pushed me over the edge, and I lost my temper. My daughter later confirmed she had the same negative experience when dropping off the returns. She explained her experience with the employee as confused, bothered, and impatient, making her sort through the packages herself. She even asked if the employee had a piercing when I described my experiance which, I wouldn't know. I just made a phone call. Staples needs to address this. Poorly trained or disgruntled staff representing Staples and handling returns are driving customers away. Between this and the noticeably higher prices in-store, it's much easier (and often cheaper) to just buy directly from Amazon or other platforms like Walmart, BestBuy, and Sam's, use their credit cards for the added discounts, and have everything delivered to your door, all done without the added attitude! No customer deserves this, especially walking out of the store or simply getting off the phone and feeling the way my daughter and I did. I will not be shopping at this Staples again, nor will I be using them for any future returns. Very disappointing. read more

Bought helium-filled balloons for an elementary school graduation ceremony. Sales Associate Trina was very friendly, thorough, and patient. Store was clean. Prices were as expected; we liked that helium was included with nylon balloon purchase. I'd give this Staples five stars if they had had additional balloon weight colors in stock. read more

My fiancee went into the Cookeville Staples store to look at office chairs. She resides in Cookeville. The gentlemen in the store was kind enough to assemble a returned open box chair so she could make a more informed decision. She called me later on to say she thinks she would like this chair. She said they had another one in a sealed box. Living an hour away in the Nashville area. I call the store to see if I can purchase it over the phone and have her son come by with his pickup truck to grab it and I'm told I have to purchase it online and list her son as the person picking it up. So, this is what I do. Her son arrives an hour or so later to pick it up, shows the electronic online receipt, and is told he can't have the chair because I didn't purchase it in the store. We'll have to wait until they ship one to the store. Even though there is one sitting there in a box. Poor customer service? We all think so. But, I let the corporate office in Framlingham, MA make that decision once I inform them on Monday. read more

When a customer calls to inquire about laminating services, the associate should inform the customer that they will not provide any services like laminating in the last hour of business instead of saying that they can laminate and that they are open until 6pm. I drove 45 minutes, arrived around 5:20 and was refused laminating services and was told to come back tomorrow- i highly doubt that anyone would drive 45 minutes back to that store because of the service. I have used Staples for years but as far as I'm concerned they might have just breached my trust. Being low on brochures I called them right after opening to get a copy order in. The phone was answered by a machine. It said it could help me. It asked what I wanted, which was to place and order for more brochures. It said they were open till 6:00. At 1:45 I called again asking about the status of my order. I was told by the copy clerk they do not fill orders over the phone. I asked if I came in was there enough time to get the order done... well of course not. So, I'm left in the cold with no copies. She never offered even a partial order, she didn't tell me about other shops that might be open to help, and worst of all they had to have heard my phone call on the machine and already knew they couldn't help me but didn't even bother to let me know to come in. You tell me if this is professional...Now at the last minute I'm having to drive around looking for a copy shop because they did not take care of their customer. read more

Yes, less than one store was available, they would get it. Way to drop the ball on a project for my child's graduation party. We dropped off something to be laminated and put on backer board on Saturday night. Sunday at noon it was not done. I took the project and left. No customer service attempt was made. The young man handed the project back and said sorry. This will probably be my last time in Staples. read more

Making a quick 25 mile trip to staples yesterday for printer ink. I was greeted by this very nice lady who helped me find the ink cartridge I needed. No big deal going somewhere to buy ink, just refreshing to deal with someone who was so polite and helpful. read more

Very Impressed with Jennefer Willard and Jared. Two times now they have gone above & beyond to assist me and to make sure I was a VERY SATISFIED customer !! Back in the fall Jared drove all the way to Crossville to pick up 4 executive chairs for me (I hope he was reimbursed for the gas & time??) Then he and Jennefer assisted in getting those chairs DELIVERED to me in Cookeville.... without a delivery charge and to make me a VERY happy customer. Then this week Jennefer went out of her way to make things "right" for my purchase of another executive chair. She should be recognized for the OUTSTANDING customer service and great positive attitude she gives. It is truly a joy to know that she will always assist us with our business needs. I am a dedicated Staples fan as long as I know I can depend on the two of them. (Sure does make my life easier!) Thank You, Thank You! read more

But, my home Internet was acting up and had problems with my p.c... but Amber rescued me! She was able to help me format and send her the info. She printed them all beautifully... I needed to get a UPS label printed and I was told that Staples was authorized for UPS. The gentleman sitting down by a computer did not bother to recognize that I was there. I finally said excuse me can someone help me please. He continued to sit and when I explained what I needed he said just email it to the email address on the bottom, still not bothering to move from his chair. I did as he asked and then he told me that I was doing it wrong because he would have to access my account. and when I commented that the people from Amazon told me that I had what I needed he told me again I was wrong and that he did this at least 90 times a day. I asked him where the nearest location would be where I could actually use the information given and he responded Lebanon. He outright lied to me because the nearest facility is located in Algood. Whatever happened to customer service? It sure is lost at Staples in Cookeville. read more

Brands fall everyday for several reason that are out of their control, but then there are those select few that do NOT control the controllable. Two stores I've been to in the last 24-36 hours and I have never experienced such poor service from the clerks to the management in my life. I was looking for a particular desk and found one in the Crossville store. Keep in mind I've worked retail on and off all my life. The clerk tells me that all they have is the floor model and refuses to sell it to me. Then the manager says she will call the Cookeville store, but does not come back for several minutes. I told her to forget it since I would be going to Cookeville the next day. The next day: I walk into the Cookeville store looking for this desk that their inventory system said that they had and it is no where to be found on the floor. After looking at boxes, I believe I've found the one I'm looking for. I ask the clerk if he can call the Crossville store to verify this is the one I'm looking for. The clerk goes in the back and comes out with what I presume to be a manager. Again, I ask my question about calling the Crossville store. He replies, no we can't do that since the storm knocked out our all of our phone systems. To which I replied, do you have the number and I will call on my cell? His answer??? NO, but you can look it up!! Who taught these people customer service? Who taught them device? Who taught them leadership? I will NEVER set foot in a staples again. read more
