After going to Stanton's main headquarters in Florida with a phone call, they called me the following day to tell me that they would refund the cost difference of a glasses examination and the contacts examination. Fair enough. I had to return to the store to get it. The young girl I talked to seemed uninterested in helping, didn't seem to want to look up my account, told me to come back when there was a manager and had a rude overall attitude. I asked her to call someone who could authorize the already approved refund but she wouldn't until she called her manager, who approved it over the phone and THEN she brought up my account on her computer. Already dissatisfied, it added to my aggravation but the matter is closed fairly. read more

Worst place I have ever gone to get eyeglasses. Tried to call stanton optical in killeen,tx. Today and had to wait 30 minutes before a recording came on and said they couldn't take my call and please leave a message. I did that twice with the same results. This call was for my wife's glasses. When I went down to the store last week, i stood in the lobby for 10 minutes before someone acknowledged my presence. My husband and I went in to get glasses in March 2019. We did not receive our glasses until a month and a half later. During this time they lost my information and I had to call corporate three different times. Every time I call they had no idea who I was or even where my glasses was. We paid way to much for all three sets of glasses for this to happen. I finally got mine and then we were waiting on my husband to get his. A month later I relieved mine. Two weeks later we finally got my husbands. I feel this was not called for. I will only go back if something happens to our glasses. I will not go back to get new glasses. They are nice people but they only have one thing on their mind and that is to get paid. I believe your customers should come first and here it is not the case. read more

Went in was told the exam was going to be credited to my glasses and we would get 2 pairs for $69. First we waited over an hour to get the exam done then another 30 minutes for someone to wait on us for glasses. My son and I both ordered glasses and we're told they would be ready at 9am the next morning. Oh and it was going to be $145 for 1 pair!!!! We bite the bullet and pay to get there the next morning to only my glasses there turns out it's going to be another 10-14 days before my sons glasses gets here!! To top it off he was visiting from San Antonio so now we are going to have to ship them to him!! Will never go back to this place again!! So mad!!! read more

Don't come to this place to buy the glasses. My boyfriend and I came last month to check his eyes and bought 2 glasses, we paid all. She told us, the glasses will be ready in 2 weeks. 2 weeks after that, they didn't call us. So, we call the number for check if his glasses ready or not. And they said, his glasses ready. We came the store and we just got 1 glass, they said have problem with other glass, they sent back to fixed it. And they told us, they will call us. We been waiting and waiting.. no call, no give up update. We called again after we been waiting, they said is ready. So, we came again to the store. When we got there. They said not yet ready. So, we came for nothing. They gave us Manager card, told us to call before came. We waiting and waiting again.... and today we try to call the number, Manager gave to us. No body answer the phone. We been called more than 10 times. So, we call the number from google give us. And it's not the store number. The guy who answer the phone from google information. He gave us same number with Manager card. And we told him. No body answer the phone, we asked him if he can connect us to the store. And he can't do it. He told us, the glass is ready to pick up. And my boyfriend came again to the store, the lady said, No yet ready. So, my boyfriend said I want my money back. And they just ignored him. We really disappoint it how this company work. We been waiting for months. Miscommunication and bad customer service. If I can give 0 star or - star will will give that. If you can't finish your job on time, at least you can give your customers update and let them know what's going on. read more

Walked out spending over $300 for two pairs of the WRONG prescription glasses. So much for the advestised $60 glasses. BAIT AND SWITCH!! The doctor told me I had one eye near sighted, and one far sighted, which i thought was strange as I have normally just need a nearsighted RX for both eyes.. I had no insurance, which led me to try these guys out. I though I would get the advertised 2 pairs for $59, but the sales associate kept asking me questions which he was really just tacking on extras, which I didn't realize($$$). Before I knew it, my expected $100ish bill went to over $300. I picked up my glasses the next day, and instantly was sick when I tried to wear them. Both pairs INSTANTLY gave me headaches, AND motion sickness. I ended up having to go to a second eye doctor (Carrie Divin) for another eye exam. (Another $100 gone) Stanton Optical was SOOOOO far off. Both of my eyes are near sighted. Thankfully, I have the correct RX from a quality doctor, and can drive again without getting sick. I wouldn't recommend this office to my worst enemy. $300+ wasted with nothing to show for it except two pairs of useless eye glasses. read more

Had an eye appointment in Jan 2018 and ordered contacts. Eight weeks later I had heard nothing from them, so I called. And called. And called again. I was promised a return call from a live person one time and left a voicemail another time. After not hearing back for a WEEK, I had to physically go into the store so I'd finally get answers. Ended up just getting a refund, as I was beyond over dealing with the incompetence. Also, while I was waiting on a manager to assist me, there were 2-3 people who came in and I overheard them saying that their glasses had broken. I guess you get what you pay for.....low prices = low quality and poor customer service. Too bad. read more

Got a call saying the first of my two sets of glasses was ready. When I put them on they gave me double vision, and blurred at that. The girl checked them and said there was a problem with the prescription being made a little off from correct and would have to be redone. During this time another customer came in waving some glasses and shouting that he couldn't see with them. A few days later a call saying the second pair was ready, but when I got there the girl said those glasses had also been made wrong. I became disgusted at that point and demanded cancellation and a refund--they refused and I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. Went to a different optician who said my vision was bad because of cataracts and recommended not buying glasses until after cataract surgery--I got a referral to a cataract surgeon. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. I went for the 2 for $59.99 but walked out spending over $100. I got the eye exam then they said to choose from a few pairs that were not made for adults. Then when I asked to take the prescription elsewhere, they said it will cost $95. I ended up opting for the buy the frame get the lenses 50% off. Please be aware of the scam they are running. The girl that helped me schedule my exam appointment was very polite and professional. However, when I returned for my exam, the young man that checked me in for my exam in the back was definitely NOT. First he was very abrupt when I greeted him, as if as a customer I was interrupting his day. I obviously can't see well (hence why I was there), so filling out the endlessly long check-in questionnaire on their iPad was quite a chore and when I informed him that it exited to an employee login screen at the end right before I could digitally sign, he was even more put out and said I'd have to repeat the process. At this point I'd had enough of his attitude and left... I will NOT be back and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place. Life is too short to deal with jerks. read more

Made appointment by phone. They said they accepted tricare. I come to my appointment they then tell me they don't take tricare but they will take my other insurance. Then I'm left sitting in the waiting room an hour and a half past my appointment time and still no sign of the doctor. Never coming back! Don't waste your time! read more

I thought we would give this place a try since it shows up as in network for our new insurance. Daughter went there for an exam and glasses. They told her the exam would be $195 unless she bought glasses or contacts. I called Eye Med and verified my copay was only $10 before I drove over to help my daughter. I went to the counter and explained that the exam should only be $10. They grumbled about Eye Med and took my money. We looked around after the exam, didn't see any frames that we liked. When we were leaving, I was stopped on the way out saying I had to buy glasses or contacts to get the copay exam price. I asked for my prescription finally got it. And they again tried to force glasses on us. I'm guessing the staff is on commission. Very bad experience. read more

I have tried a number of eyewear companies in Waco. Stanton seemed attractive because of price and the free eye exam. The eye exam was relatively quick, in retrospect perhaps too quick. I chose two frames one cheap for everyday use, the second a more expensive frame. Total with lenses about $500. The 'cheap' ones broke in the first two weeks from the day I picked them up (took 10 days to get the finished glasses both which came in a very cheap and nasty plastic case). The more expensive frames failed two weeks after that. The weakness are the cheap hinges used on both pairs it seems. Another issue was the placement of the bifocal lenses. Wearing the glasses in the normal position my eyes begun to hurt and images where blured. To see I needed to lift the glasses above my nose. Obviously the lenses where made incorrectly despite the measurements taken twice. Upon my return I was told the glasses and lenses could not be repaired or replaced. You don't always get what you pay for. I think my next step is to take my business to a local privately owned Optometrist and not these box store chains. Service selling me the glasses was very good. After market service was about as bad as it gets. Save your money for local businesses where your business really matters. read more

Had a great time with the most professional and compassionate young people at this place. They were very welcoming and the doctor Nguyen was super sharp and detected an eye problem that none of previous doctors such as Costco grumpy doctor did not detect. I am very very pleased and if you use my name Razieh Mostafavi, you can benefit 20 percent discount as well. I bought two designer light weight polarized, progressive and transitional glasses for $312.00, and the fee for the eye prescription gets used on behalf of your glasses. Same price of Costco much better customer service and more selection. One giant store full of nice glasses. I loved Allison, very kind and loving customer service who helped me with my glasses. They spent one hour just to make sure I get the best and the best deal. Amazing place, highly recommend. read more

Went in for 2 pr of glasses for $79 & free eye exam. Eye exam Cost $45, that they take off price of frames. And the 2 for price does not include all prescriptions. Mine prescription can not be done in plastic lenses. I was told only plastic lenses are included in advertised price. My exam & glasses cost $423. I am very DISSAPPOINTED in this business. I had an appointment scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and waited for 1 hr before I was seen by a doctor. The staff was completely disorganized and in no hurry - I signed in at the front desk and it was 30 mins before a staff member even looked at the sheet. When I did the pre-exam, the staff member did not wipe down the chin/forehead rests with alchohol until I had already touched them with my face and then she remembered. The doctor who saw me (Dr Torres), seemed confused and lost and kept coming out of the exam room and wandering around talking to different employees while everyone sat there and waited. When he finally examined my eyes, he touched my face with his bare, unwashed hands, holding my eyes open while he looked at them. I was terribly uncomfortable and upset with the whole experience and most certainly will not be back and will warn my friends and family to go somewhere else. read more

I am very upset with this company. I will never go back. I went there for 99 dollar special and did the eye exam. They didn't show me the frames until after the exam and Thier selection was horrible. If I saw those frames first I would have left. Thier eye exam is 95 bucks, they do the same exact thing for a 40 dollar exam. I walked out of there getting glasses because I'm not paying almost 100.00 for an exam and walk out with nothing. Don't go here it is a scam. I called the corporate office and the manager was supposed to call me and didn't. Poor management is what that is. I told a friend at work about my experience and she said she had the exact experience with them. I will never refer anyone and I'll never go back. The corporate office should have handled this situation better also and they did not even offer a resolution and the manager obviously doesn't seem to care either. First time I went in my eye exam was wrong and I couldn't see out of the contacts they fitted me with so I settled on glasses l. When I got the glasses I couldn't see out of them so I took them back to discover that the prescription was wrong. Got another eye exam done by a very nice and knowledgeable eye dr. Got my new glasses and the prescription was correct but they were supposed to have got me a trial pair of contacts which they failed to order. Finally got the trial pair in well after they said I would have them because they forgot to order them. My wife went back and order me a supply of contacts, which they said would be in, in about 2-5 days. 10 days later she went by there because everytime someone one answered the phone they hung up. Well they never ordered the contacts because they said they were supposed to get us to pay for them in order to get them ordered, but they failed to call us and tell us we needed to pay for them which we would happily have done. So now we are waiting to see if they actually ordered them this time after we paid for my contacts.. d ont recommend going here unless u want frustration and headaches. read more

Came in for the 2 for 59 advertised online, even called to make sure there were no special qualifications not mentioned in the ad...was assured it was exactly as represented and when we came in it was anything but. It was supposed to be "glasses in 15" which seemed quick but if it was even close I'd have been ok...it's nowb2 hours later, I've been listening to endless other customer complaints and am still waiting to get the manager to make 'special adjustments' so the deal we came in for might still apply but they tried like hell to upcharge us at every turn to the tune of more than twice the advertised price...No special needs for the glasses...No designer frames...59.99 somehow went to over 130 and was supposed to be "a better deal than the one we came in for" at more than twice the cost. Think twice about coming to this place, be ready if you do, make them stick to what they told you or they'll upcharge you to death and leave you to wait all day. We did not...even with manager adjustments get the 2 for 59 with free eye exam as advertised and I will go just about anywhere but here for glasses next time. read more

Stanton was not my favorite place for contacts for my child at all. 2 weeks turned into 8 weeks to receive my child's contacts. I decided to review once things went wrong for an acquaintance. Stay away from Staton!! They took advantage of my 70 yr old father referring him to a specialist for cataract surgery and selling him a $300 pair of glasses he cannot use. Never telling him what cataracts where or that after the surgery he would not need glasses or the prescription would be completely different. When confronted they said it was not there job to let him know anything about the procedure. read more

First of all on a positive note, they have very nice frames. However, they have the worst customer service I think I have seen anywhere. I bought two pair of very nice glasses I had to go back immediately because the sight line was off and they did adjust it. I went back a second time to buy two more pair of glasses which I was told I would get within two weeks and as I was going to pay I was told it would be a month so I cancelled one of the pair since I needed a pair immediately and planned to go elsewhere for it. When I went back several weeks later to get the pair I had paid for they had no record of it and basically accused me of not paying for them. They couldn't find the paperwork. Fortunately I did keep my paperwork and went home to get it and returned to the store. The woman who helped me was very rude and even after I produced all my paper work and credit card statement showing I had paid she still wouldn't refund my money or even apologize for the fact no glasses had ever been ordered for me or even offer to rush a pair for me. The next day she called to say after researching they would refund my money. Recently one of the original pair of glasses I bought there ($300.00) broke and I took them back to see if they could be repaired and got the same woman. She looked at them and said the "sauter" was broken and they couldn't be fixed. At that point I asked if she could just give me a screw for them and I would fix them myself, which I did when I got home. I happen to own jewelry pliers and was able to repair them myself with the screw, but I shouldn't have had to. I will never go in there again and I do not recommend this establishment. read more

So I would have initially given this place like 4 stars for the speed and price. However, the number of times I've had to come back (4 at this point) negate the convenience and price. It's not so convenient when I have to keep returning. I came in and got my eye exam the first time, they made my glasses right then. I told them they didn't seem right, but the guy said sometimes a fishbowl effect is normal, come back if it doesn't get better (which hasn't happened to me before since my prescription isn't very strong). I came back the next day with my old prescription in hand and turns out they were way off. They rechecked and made me new glasses but were out of the lenses I paid for so told me to come back in a couple days. I came back to get them remade, they said they could be ready the next day so come back again. I came back to pick them up and they made my new glasses with the old prescription again!!! Even though I told the guy the more recent eye check is the correct prescription. So I'm here again waiting for them to remake the glasses AGAIN. Sat there for AN HOUR while 3 people told me they were working on my glasses only to have the manager come over and say "I totally thought they were helping you, but no one put it in the computer. I'll call you as soon as they are done." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!!! The guy who gave me the wrong glasses just walked away and did NOTHING. The girl who checked said her boss was taking care of it. DO NOT GO TO STANTON. This should really be zero stars. Customer Service at the Waco, TX location is terrible if you experience a problem. My glasses were made with a defect but I was told to give it a couple of days and that I "would get used to it." After a couple of days of nausea and it didn't get better, I went back to the store. The Manager in Training looked and said there was an issue and the glasses would be remade the following day. The next day I received a call from the Manager and he said there was nothing wrong with the glasses and they wouldn't remake them. He then tried to blame it on the material of the glasses, the fact that they were bigger than my current ones or that my Ophthalmologist with 40 years of experience didn't know what he was doing and that I should use their Optometrist who looks like he just graduated. I've probably be wearing glasses longer than this "manager" has been alive, yet he implied that I didn't know what to expect from new glasses. After all the problems and run around, I said I didn't want the glasses and he refused to refund my money. In the end, I have no glasses (they kept the defective ones at the store) and I am out over $300. Avoid this store at all costs. read more
