Joshua was the only one who seemed to really care about how I felt and really tried to help. There was one lady that tried to help too but no one could get my prescription correct. When I got my glasses I explained to the guy that I would not be able to pick up as soon as he called he stated not a problem. I go get my first pair and they broke 2 weeks after getting them and due to my work schedule I could not pick them up. Finally able to get my second pair and they could mot find them. Now I am not only out my money but out of my glasses. I also want to point out that the day I went there team members were talking about nipple piercings and sexual exploits in front of people there were minors near by as well. She finally stated that she had one who work in the back which is a lie because it's the same guy who has been giving me the run around at the front desk and when I went this past weekend there was a male worker there as well. We went to Walmart instead where eye exams were $59 (instead of $109) and the Walmart staff were amazing. The only good thing was the doctor who did my eye exam. Unfortunately I didn't get his name, but he was great. I guess I was spoiled by going to a Stanton in a different state, which was an amazing experience, so I continued to go to Stanton when I got to Waco. However, this store is very different. They are always short of people that can help in customer service (the eyeglass area), so there is always a wait, even just to ask a question or pick something up. When I went to order my glasses, the selection was OK, but not great and when I asked about tinting the lenses (yellow, blue, gray etc.), the CSR said they didn't have any samples. There were a stack of sample tints on the table and I asked, "what about these?", and she said they're old, not to bother with them. So I didn't get any tinting. I went in on March 12 to say that my frame arm was broken. Since they were under warranty, I was told that it would be approximately $35 to get a new frame since they don't just replace arms. I had to pay upfront and was told that they would be about a week to a week and a half. By March 25 I still had not received a phone call or text and every time I called the number (that goes to a very abrupt automatic line) on the website, it said that they were still being shipped. I went back into the store and was told by the CSR that they hadn't been shipped until the 18th, a week after I'd ordered them. I asked for a store phone number and she gave me a business card with the store number but said it sometimes doesn't work, and sometimes it works but automatically goes to the automatic line so there is no way to get in touch with a human, unless you're lucky enough to have your call go through to the store number. March 30 and I STILL don't have my frames! These are GLASSES! Necessary for work, reading and life in general. Luckily, I have another pair, but if these were my only glasses I'd be very upset. The pair I'm wearing now has a broken hinge - I'd had them maybe a year (purchased from Stanton Waco) and they broke. I don't dare bother to ask to have them repaired. Any time I've purchased glasses at the Stanton in Waco, they're just handed to me and no one offers to try them on my face, make sure the measurements are correct, or even wipe the lenses for fingerprints or anything like that, like they did at the other Stanton. At this point, they have my cash, but I STILL don't have my glasses. Trying to call either number today just went to a dead line. Really disappointed and frustrated. read more

I decided to go there after my wife went a few months before. She got a good deal. We paid for her exam and she got the same amount credited to her glasses. My situation is different as I must get my eyes dilated once a year. The associate was pretty good w me and after I picked my two sets of frames for the BOGO offer I was first quoted the price for the package. I told him that was way beyond my budget. He then gave me what I needed like anti glare etc. it was about 275. Still about 25 over budget but doable. They said about ten days. It was a day or two after that when I called. The assistant mgr Stephanie took ownership and it appears they were cracked in shipping. They offered me a loaner pair but I just chose to wait and the new pairs arrived quickly. This is the worst bait and switch operation I have ever seen outside of a used car lot. I went in with my own prescription from a REAL eye doctor and selected some frames in a style I liked. They were $135. Since these glasses will be temporary while I'm unable to wear my contacts because of hand surgery, that was more than I wanted to spend. I asked to see the least expensive pair in a similar style, which they said were $79. Then they told me that price was for the frames ONLY, and it would be ANOTHER $250 for the prescription lens. When I asked where all the $59 and $79 styles they advertise as frames and lens two pairs for BOGO, they said sorry, we're all out of stock. Yet they had huge posters on the outside of their windows advertising these $59 and $79 deals. This place is a ripoff at best and should be borderline illegal because of false advertising. Had an eye exam and ordered both glasses and contacts at this store while visiting my daughter. It was agreed they would be shipped to California when ready. Drive 2 hours to the closest store for pick up. They came in a super cheapo plastic case. The contacts came with no storing case and no contact cleaner! I couldn't see a THING with the prescription written after exam! Gone back and forth with TX store and customer service several times. Still waiting for the promised refund. Awful, awful experience. My husband needed his prescription sent over to Walmart so he could replace the 2 broken glasses that were bought from Stanton optical less than a year ago. After a week of faxes and phones calls, my husband was told by multiple Stanton's Optical staff that his prescription couldn't be sent to Walmart because it needs to be signed by the optometrist that no longer works there. Essentially telling my husband the his prescription was useless without a signature. After about 2 hours on the phone, low and behold the the SAME optometrist who did my husband's prescription was there today working!!! Another lie they told was that there hasn't been an optometrist on site for the past week So we were LIED to by MULTIPLE Stanton optical staff members. Still haven't received it yet.. read more

Well, I've finally had to resort to a lawyer. After, sending a registered letter to the headquarters in Florida and a copy to this store, they finally reached out to tell me they did the correct prescription according to the doctors and since it's been nearly a year, they couldn't refund me. I still don't have the final pair of glasses. I have never received any pair within the two weeks they stated I should get them or my money back. They do not back they're own policies. So, beware if you have any problems with your glasses and want your money back. (December 19, 2018) I was told 15 mins....then an hour because they were having software problems so I said because it was 6pm I'd come by and pick them up in the morning. (December 20, 2018) Still not ready then I came in at 2pm, Omar says the machine is broke and the part will be in tomorrow. I asked why can't you take the back orders to Temple and process the ones you promised would be ready today? The district manager said he wouldn't allow it. I have not been offered any type of upgrade or allowance for my troubles. So now the part will be in sometime tomorrow and my glasses will be the first ones done. I spent $150 here. Be very careful... recently went to have my eyesight checked by a different optometrist not associated with Stanton Optical (the one that I had there didn't work there anymore). I picked up my prescription just to have a comparison (for my own peace of mind). I couldn't believe it but I could read the chart better without my glasses on. I'll admit I was attracted to the two pair of glasses for $$$ but then they add in all the extras so I ended up paying over $300 (much more than $99). When I first brought my glasses (within a week) is when I noticed that there was a difference in color (dark and light). The assistant went over to the display case and took the frame off the shelf. Her response was there is a difference. If you value your eyesight consider going somewhere else. I wish I had known sooner. read more

I had the most horrible experience!! I was told over the phone about a promotional offer for an $89.99 eye exam for glasses and contacts and the staff in the store refused to honor it even after saying that many people had brought it up during the day. I had already competed the exam and was forced to pay $149.00. I waited to be seen for 2 hours 30 minutes because "the telemedicine service was down". When I was issued my prescription for contacts the store did not have my prescription in stock so they gave me a pair that was close to my prescription. Lol. I can't wear them because they are no where near my prescription. I have used Stanton before for my children and was satisfied. But now I will never return to Stanton even if it was the last place on earth. read more

Ordered glasses and contacts over 2 weeks ago. Went into the store 3 days after contacts were due in and was told sometimes the orders fall out of the system for contacts so had them reordered. Still haven't received anything yet and today was told that the glasses were completed then pulled out of the shipping order due to some issue. The issue is not documented nor the staff claims they have a direct number to their own lab. The toll free customer service line is a joke. Day contacts were reordered got cold disconnected 3 times one of those for asking if the lady worked in a call center or in the store. Today been cold disconnected and still on hold after 30 mins of going through the schedule an appointment route of their automated service. The lack of communication and poor customer service by both the call center and in store employees is appalling. read more

I was in need of new glasses and been watching the ads on TV to come in with no appointment and sign on their building telling me no appointment. I arrive Monday the 29th and walk in and the girl asks me if I had an appointment and I said no. She told me to look at the glasses and someone would be with me shortly. After about 30 minutes the girl says I could go in the back and see if someone could help me and I did but I could see no one in the back and felt just brushed off... my business wasn't necessary it seemed and so I left. They didn't have a very big selection of what I was looking for. Anyway, I finally walked back up to front to see if I could be helped. The other customer was not in line and looking around. I feel like one start is too generous. My experience with Stanton Optical was the worst eye experience I've ever had. After being examined, I chose my frames and paid for the glasses and sunglasses. My glasses were special ordered, so I was told they should arrive within two weeks. At two and a half weeks I called, at 4 weeks I called, at 5 weeks I called and complained! The manager called me back as a "complementary call"! No ma'am. This is not complementary. This is me hassling y'all to get the glasses I paid for. Finally, after 6 weeks, I got my glasses. On a positive note, they did offer another pair at 50% off. At this point, no thank you! So, I have the glasses, wear the glasses, and realize I can't see properly out of the glasses. I just stuck it out until my insurance let me have another eye exam. When I got home every evening I had to wear reading glasses to read anything. Annoying!! I recently had my eyes rechecked and interestingly enough, the doctor I saw made a comment about how my prescription glasses were so far off the prescription I needed. Needless to say... Stephanie was very rude, pushy, and unprofessional. I specifically wanted the 2 for 59 plus free eye exam and she tried to sell me a pair for 350 and got upset when I wanted a price breakdown and asked me why I didn't go to the VA in the first place. I requested a copy of my prescription and she said her printer didn't work. She finally was able to print out a copy so I could go someplace that had better customer service. She would not maintain eye contact when I was asking questions nor did she acknowledge my thank you when departing. I paid more than I would ever pay for glasses but that is mostly because I was short on time and didn't look for any specials. I am giving Stanton Optical a 5 star due to the service I received even after arriving 4 minutes after closing time. I was on a road trip and lost my glasses. It was beginning to get dark out and very difficult to see so I called vision works and they told me they could have some made the same day. I showed up 30 minutes after my phone call and they said the lab had already closed and told me to contact Lens Crafters whose lab had closed 3 hours earlier. They still take people in first come, first serve so the appointment is meaningless. There is no doctor on premises. Staff was kind, but they are working for scam artists. I've worn contacts for 30 years, been to numerous doctors, and have never encountered anything like this. They have no records from the last time I was there, a little over a year ago. Now the eye exam is done by video conferencing, that has poor transmission quality. They talk to a doctor through a laptop. I guess to undercut the market, as much as they do, they just don't pay doctors. I only gave them a one because that's the only way to give a review. I made my husband an appointment at 9:10 am, we got there before 9 they opened at 9:05. We were created by a lady she gave us an iPad and said to fill it out. After we were done he took it to the lady and said do I give this to you, she said yeah and yanked it from him! Then the same lady called his name 20 minutes later he turned around and say yes (10seconds maybe) she then said oh I took someone else you didn't answer fast enough. Really?!?!? So someone else says she will call you again in a minute. We watched her call serval people that didn't have appointments. So I told him our money must not be good enough and we left. I went there for the special offer of buying a pair of glasses and getting a free eye exam and got neither. First the eye exam wasn't free at all then the glasses weren't even ready the next day we had to wait two days after the exam. Also they made me get unnecessary lens enhancements and charged over the top for them. Please go to the Walmart in bellmead they offer both eye/contact exam for 100 or 125 if you have a astigmatism. It's absolutely ridiculous that I paid almost $300 for an eye/contact exam and only one pair of glasses. Everything went well up until I received my glasses. My glasses took a little longer because they were progressive lens. The issue was with my right lens and I immediately noticed the defect. The entire staff was awesome and they shipped my glasses back to get corrected. Once I got them back, the imperfection was still not fixed. That is what is annoying. Went back to the store and the manager finally figured out that the right lens was completely wrong and assured me that she would get it corrected. Mistakes happen so I'm not here to bash the people. They recognized the issue and are now fixing it. Now, if the lens is still an issue when I get the glasses back this time, we will have a problem. read more
