Warning About America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses - Waco, Texas My wife and I had an extremely disappointing experience at America's Best in Waco, Texas. We went there in December 2025 and used our insurance benefits for glasses. In February 2026, I returned for contact lenses. I left the office without clear vision and was told it would take a few days for the contacts to adjust. Four months and approximately eight trips later (nearly 50 miles each way), I still do not have clear vision. My prescription was changed repeatedly, but the problem was never corrected. I have worn contacts for 40 years and have never experienced this many problems or excuses from a vision provider. My wife had the exact same experience. Neither one of us currently has vision good enough to safely drive, and we cannot even use a computer comfortably without adding reading glasses purchased elsewhere. We spoke with General Manager Joel Files, but our concerns were not handled in a way that resolved the issue. We requested a refund so we could go somewhere else for proper vision care. America's Best refunded only the deductible and has not credited back the insurance-paid portion. After months of frustration, wasted time, travel, and additional expenses, we are now forced to find another provider and pay again. read more

Michael, who answered the phone the most when I called, and who greeted me both times at the front desk, was the NICEST. He had the best smile and the friendliest attitude! The eye doctor was wonderful and didn't shame me even though I hadn't had an eye exam in 5 years. All the employees I dealt with were very knowledgeable and welcoming. read more

Hi everyone, I am deaf person and came in America's Best 3rd time, was very awful service and communication. The who Lady name Tracy didn't not good service to me since she didn't LISTEN from what I told her I am DEAF again and over again! I told her please written down the paper for communication but she failed. I walked out cuz too tired to came 3rd time so far. I will NEVER go in that place again. BAD service! Our appointment was at 12:40 . Took us a whole hour to even be seen it's now 2:08 and we are finally being able to choose our glasses. Like come on. What's the point of having an appointment if the time isn't even gonna be honored? Definitely will let my family and friends know how this place runs. Waiting a whole hour to even be seen when we came here at 12:30 since our scheduled appointment was 12:40 is crazy. read more

I walked in and was immediately greeted by two bright and friendly ladies at the front desk. And this was early on a Monday! Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Evette listened to my lame stories while helping me with my new frames and was very knowledgeable, courteous, and polite. Chasity finalized my frame fitting and found that Evette did just perfect with the fitting of the frames and the alignment of the trifocal eye areas. The experience was quick and the selection of frames is great. When I go back and recommend this place, it will be because of the people! read more

Dr. Robert is not family friendly and his behavior is the reason we walked out of and did not complete our appointment, for which we were on time for and waited in an empty waiting room, an extra 30 minutes to start. I do not recommend. However, the first technician that handled the pre screening process was incredible: I believe her name was Vanessa: a very kind individual. The worst optometrist ever. This was hands down the worst experience we've ever had with an optometrist. We will NEVER go back to this place. This guys was rude and condescending to my wife. He argued with my wife telling her she was wrong and that his prescription was correct, when he finally consented to doing another exam it turns out he was wrong but wouldn't admit it. He kept telling her that "I don't believe you still can't see the letters?!" He's unprofessional, he argued with my wife, and was extremely unfriendly. Even his staff couldn't figure out what he had written down in her prescription. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. read more

Came in for a glasses and contact exam... I order the glasses and they provide me sample contacts (a week later) so I decided I was going to order contacts online and pull my prescription out and it was only for glasses ( I payed for both glasses and contacts prescription ) they wanted me to order the contacts through them and then they would provide me with my contact prescription... what a joke... needless to say I won't be going back read more

A superstar experience in all respects! The eye exam was very efficient and they were very enthusiastic and informative about the health of my eyes. I had a great experience at this location. All of the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable and I did not at all feel like they were just trying to get me to spend my money. They were willing to work with me to figure out the best contact lens and glasses orders to fit my budget. I was very impressed, even walking in expecting everything to just be so-so. I went to an eye appointment on October 3, 2020. While there I was seen by a doctor and fitted for contact lenses. I was told they would be in a week to 10 days. Two weeks later, after multiple phone calls I was informed that they were on back order and employees should have informed me Oct 3 because it was widely known at that date. Finally on Oct. 31 the contacts come in. I order a six month supply and specifically ask if the delays due to back order had been rectified. I was informed that there should be no delays this time. On Nov 14 I called to inquire about the delivery status of my contacts and am told that there would be an indefinite wait on them. To add salt to the wound, the "manager " tells me that since I don't have contacts to wear, they have a special promotion if I want to buy eye glasses while I wait on contacts. This has been six weeks since the first visit. I have no contacts, my yearly allocation from my insurance company has been used up and I still can't see. DO NOT visit the establishment if you goal is to receive help improving your eye sight. Update: the manager worked with me to fix the situation. So, I have contacts in my eyes. read more

Me and my wife went there, the nicest people. Saved a lot of money, and will go back again. And ask about the Military discount.

People were very polite and explained everything to me. I was surprised how expensive they were. By the commercials I really thought this was going to be a inexpensive trip. Boy was I wrong. They Dr was very polite. Despite the crazy lady screaming in the lobby! lol yes There are crazy customers every were you go, even here. The manager handled it very well. SO far so good . everyone was attentive and making sure everyone was taken care of and checked in . only issue i had was i asked to verify what my insurance covered and they sent me back to the exam room while verifying . i got the contact and glasses exam . he made sure everything was back to 20/20 for the Rx . I then went out of the exam and was informed i owed $40 that my insurance didnt cover. i didnt like this part i asked first if everything was covered and was 30min early just to do this . i then didnt have money for both glasses and contacts. they ordered trials for acuvue oasis with astigmatism . i noticed other veview for this location said they were told they didnt use this brand not sure why or if it had just been correced after their visit. im waiting on those and was told i can get 1yr supply after using the trails for $220 and it would only be $20 out of pocket with my insurrance. so not too bad . i was never offered the $9 upgrade for the free 3 years of exams (2 per year) and discounted contacts. my insurrance only covers exams and $200 for contacts or glasses once every 2 years . so if i need another exam next year its going to be out of pocket . not too happy about this i asked about it when i came in and never got an answer because they took me back early to the exam. I will update after my orders are back and see what they say about adding me to the $9 plan upgrade. read more

My dad got his top of the line progressives for less then half the price of his last purchase and got his second pair half off!! The customer service was top notch! Everyone was friendly and made it worth the trip to Waco!! I will be coming back with my family to purchase more in the future! read more

I went here because I wanted to try a new place and my experience wasn't great. The receptionist was exceptionally friendly but that was really the only good thing I experienced. Also the staff that helped me order contacts were friendly as well, one of them was clearly in training so it was pretty slow though. I was the only customer in the entire store. There was one doctor. He spoke so softly I highly doubt an elderly or hearing impaired person could understand him. He didn't say much. When I told him I wanted Acuvue contacts (mind you one of the most popular brands on the market) he said they don't have those. Oh and he also mentioned SEVERAL times that he was a contracted doctor so didn't have anything to do with the selling of contacts/glasses, he just does the tests, that's all. He said they could order the brand I wanted but would have to do a second eye exam because the exam he just did was for the brand of contacts they have. What? That made no sense to me. I've gotten my prescription from previous eye doctor's and ordered contacts online so what am I missing here? The left contact seemed blurry after a couple of days of wearing them and I especially noticed it while watching TV. So I go back and this man tells me I'm not blinking enough and gives me a sample of lubricating eye drops. LOL I've been wearing contact for almost 20 years I think I know how to blink. Whatever, I just took it for what it was and I'm wearing the contacts until they run out. They also never called to tell me when the contact came in I had to call them. I will say this, whatever brand these are they are uncomfortable. Extremely. I miss my Acuvue Oasis contacts. These bother me all day long and I can't wait to rip them out as soon as I get home from work. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing experience. Will not be back. read more
