This review is specific to the Stanton Optical located on Harbison Boulevard in Columbia, SC. The Stanton Optical on Two Notch Road in Columbia, SC, where I received my exam, hosted a friendly and helpful staff. My daughter went to the Stanton Optical on Harbison Boulevard to take advantage of their $79 exam and glasses offer. She received minimal help and instruction and in the end was charged over $400. The return policy on the website clearly states "Stanton Optical stands behind the products we sell by offering a 30-satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your frames, ...or refund your full purchase price for the goods." (I've attached a screenshot of the stated policy.) The management at the Harbison store claim this is not accurate and the return window is 24 hours. Separately, my daughter and I called the customer support line listed on Stanton's website which turned out to be a useless endeavor, as they simply rerouted the call back to the store where the problem occurred. The only thing customer service was able to do was enter in a ticket to have someone from the company contact us. To date, two tickets have been entered with no resulting contact. After multiple phone calls with no resolution, I accompanied my daughter to the store to discuss this with them in person. They continued to insist that the return policy on the website was incorrect. They never clarified if this alleged misinformation was company wide or specific to their store. They also couldn't show where this 24 hour window was stated on the website or the receipt. After a lengthy conversation, they finally agreed to refund $150 out of the ~$350 we felt should be refunded. The manager of the store told us she would reach out to Edward Anderson, the district manager for her location, and have him contact me to talk further about the issue. I asked if she could call him while we were in the store but she refused, saying he was too busy opening another store to be interrupted by a minor customer service issue. To date, there has been no contact from him. My daughter wrote her own Yelp review about her initial experience at this location. There was a response stating someone from the company would reach out to her. Again, no contact has been made.

I didnt like it. I told them to take back the glasses. The purple shirt man in this store used his tone and this is my response to him.

Well Im taking back my 1 start review on this business. And Im giving 3 stars now instead of 1 star I gave before. Got the call from the sales person and this time the conversation is good. But still I'm not coming back to Stanton Optical. I have learnt from my mistake. I will look for some other places. But thank you for calling me back. I really appreciate it.

If I could give them less than one star I would!!!they do not honor appointments made online this is absolutely horrible because I drove from Batesburg to Columbia. The lady told me that we have to confirm the appointment and when I showed her proof that I confirm the appointment she said that's all she can go buy is what's on the list. This is not the place for me or anyone else who wants to make an appointment and honors a time commitment

Great services and LOVE MY NEW VIEW! I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW!!!

I have been wearing contacts and glasses since I was a teenager. That being said, yearly eye exams…read morehave always been something that I have had to do. This was my first visit to America's Best - the name definitely doesn't match the experience. This is like the bus depot of eye exam places. Nothing about this place is nice. My day started by checking in with the front desk for my appointment, and this very disorganized lady acted like I was speaking Swahili. I had to repeat my appointment time 3 times, and follow her to two different computers. I then sat on a nasty metal bench in a bus depot style waiting area, then got put through a few automated tests in a bare room with someone that didn't seem very competent. I then went back out to the bus depot waiting area, and the doctor called me into a room. He didn't even dilate my eyes - despite me being prepared and accustomed to that procedure. This was a big red flag to me. Back to the bus depot waiting area, I then got called to the optical store area for a pretty heavy sales pitch from the eyeglass salesman. It was very clear he had a quota to hit, and saw me as his next target. I ultimately ended up buying glasses from him, but it was probably the heaviest sales pitch I've ever received for something so necessary. The funny thing about all of this is that I never saw anyone wash their hands, or introduce themselves. This place makes money by moving as many people as possible through the system. Overall, I will not be back to America's Best in the future. There are much better and nicer offices in Columbia.

If you want a cheap and quick eye exam, I recommend this store. If you want to be treated like a…read morehuman being, do not go to this store. Staff was unfriendly and Dr. Broussard was probably the most gruff medical professional I have ever met in my life. When I scheduled my appointment, I made it clear I wanted both a glasses and contact exam. I got into her office for the exam and told her this. She was apparently unaware, and bluntly told me that it was going to be an additional $50 for the contact exam, which is silly because anyone with a good job has eye insurance. Staff could not recommend specific contact lenses to me, and eventually became frustrated when I was asking questions about specific lenses. I will not go back-- giving Palmetto Eye Care a try for my next exam. Your eyes are your window to the world. Visit a practice that can give you personalized advice.
