I cannot say enough good things about Stanton Optical. First, the staff is amazing. They are very nice, friendly, approachable, and most importantly customer service oriented. Erica was great along with Cassandra!!!! The optometrist was very nice, thorough, and didn't waste any time. And she's very funny too. Never would I believe that we could get 4 pairs of glasses for $466, but I can say it is true. We will now be lifelong Stanton Optical customers and I'm already telling people about them. Seliena is a wonderful sales person. I went in just to get my glasses fixed, as they were too loose and falling off my face. I needed both my sunnies and my regular wear glasses tightened up. I was getting ready to go out of state for a trip. My sunnies were all twisted like someone had sat on them and they looke stupid on my face, so embarrassing. Ms. Seliena used the heat machine on them and made both pairs look new again. No charge at all. Her and all the staff complimented my frames and were happy to help, despite me not purchasing the glasses there, nor making a purchase in store. She even sent me home with a cleaning cloth and a new case for my glasses. read more

So to update this review I went to a real doctors office and the exam was different then Stanton but not that much. So one pair of glasses that I ordered I could not focus on anything when I put them on, but was told very rudely it was my prescription. The lenses were tinted blue which I didn't not order tint do not like tint. The second pair was just the lenses and was told I needed to bring the frames back to them in. First of all what!!! I was not given anything when I had the exam and placed the eye glasses to be ordered. Have not paid but a small deposit. Did not come back till they called to inform me my glasses were ready even though they were not. The long haired blonde was extremely rude to me when the sale guy presented her with the problem he was having with my order. She never apologized or even acknowledged their mistake just jumped right on me saying it was correct and I needed to go to different doctor and don't come back here. This all took place in about 10 to 15 minutes from the time I entered the business. Till this day it still burns me up that I was treated that badly in front of other people by an incompetent brat that this business hired as a manager. I didn't mention in first review that she refunded the deposit (it was around $350) and then recharged my card then next day I called she put me on hold and never came back to phone just disconnected me. Then the refund came back this was done two more times throughout the week. Didn't want to go back to business in person. Feared further abuse from employees. I scheduled an exam with this office. I wasn't told until I was walking into the exam room that it would be a virtual exam. Had to have two exams done because the first one spent, maybe five minutes and I could tell immediately that it wasn't, right. They set me up with a new exam within a few minutes with a different virtual optometrist. Meaning you see the optometrist on a TV screen as they make changes to the exam machine from their home. I was hoping for the best, so I paid for my exam $157.00, took my prescription to Eyemart Express, where my previous exam was. The first thing they noticed was that one of my eyes was showing that it had gotten better and questioned it. Still hoping for the best, i had my glasses made and sure enough, the right eye is completely wrong. Now stanton wants to refer me to another optometrist and I will have to incur yet another cost. One star as it won't allow zero. Absolutely horrible and dishonest. Bait-and-switch tactics with several conflicting excuses as to why they couldn't honor their stated price. They treated my daughter like an infant (she's 22) and talked around her, all because she's autistic. Glasses available in 30 minutes? Try a couple of weeks. And she needed the code to get her permit renewed online. A month later she called them and they hadn't bothered to turn in the request. The glasses are flimsy and cheap. Beware Stanton Optical. I purchased glasses with a discount post-eye exam. I was told I had a frame warranty, and I opted for an additional "lens warranty". I've had the glasses 4 months and today, on adjusting them on my face, the frame snapped. I went over to Stanton to have this issue remedied. I produced my receipt and the glasses which had broken in the middle of bridge of the nose on the frame. Staton proceeded to inform me that their warranty covered 80% of the cost of the replacement frames, and I would need to pay the rest. They then informed me that because the glasses were rimless the lenses would be "too difficult" to replace and I would need to pay 20% of the lens cost replacement as well, despite the lenses not being damaged. While I understand that the glasses would need to be remade -- i don't shoulder the burden of the product being "too difficult" to replace. That is a manufacturing issue and not a customer issue. The lenses were not damaged and I was being imposed upon to pay extra. Now that warranty also didn't cost 20% of what I paid, they informed me that the prices of items have gone up, and I would need to pay 20% of the inflated prices. I paid $378 for glasses that lasted 4 months. I was asked to pay $285 to replace them UNDER WARRANTY. Please note that my receipt in no way indicates that I would be responsible for 20% of warranty costs and this was apparently told to me verbally and in no way provided in writing. No thank you, never again, if this was a legitimate warranty it'd be on paper stating 20% of INFLATED PRICES to replace my glasses. read more

Hands down the worst experience for an eye exam I have ever had in my life. To start, the eye exam was virtual; she flipped the switch twice on one eye and once on the other then expected to have my prescription right. I had issues at that moment which I voiced to the staff but they assured me I would be fine. Get a pair of trial contacts and absolutely effin not. I had a migraine within minutes I had them in. I got upset when I was telling the agent and she was so patient with me so that's a plus but I still ended up with the wrong prescription. The glasses were even worse. I don't know how many times I said I can see just fine; I just came in for contacts so I need a new exam. There's no way my prescription was that FAR OFF when I don't have any issues seeing. Five calls to their call center and office later and another round of "pick a contact" I still don't have the right prescription. Even after their corporate office told me I would get a new eye exam, they tried their hardest to not honor that and just have me try a variety of contacts. This was an awful experience. This review is specific to the Stanton Optical located on Harbison Boulevard in Columbia, SC. The Stanton Optical on Two Notch Road in Columbia, SC, where I received my exam, hosted a friendly and helpful staff. My daughter went to the Stanton Optical on Harbison Boulevard to take advantage of their $79 exam and glasses offer. She received minimal help and instruction and in the end was charged over $400. The return policy on the website clearly states "Stanton Optical stands behind the products we sell by offering a 30-satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your frames, ...or refund your full purchase price for the goods." (I've attached a screenshot of the stated policy.) The management at the Harbison store claim this is not accurate and the return window is 24 hours. Separately, my daughter and I called the customer support line listed on Stanton's website which turned out to be a useless endeavor, as they simply rerouted the call back to the store where the problem occurred. The only thing customer service was able to do was enter in a ticket to have someone from the company contact us. To date, two tickets have been entered with no resulting contact. After multiple phone calls with no resolution, I accompanied my daughter to the store to discuss this with them in person. They continued to insist that the return policy on the website was incorrect. They never clarified if this alleged misinformation was company wide or specific to their store. They also couldn't show where this 24 hour window was stated on the website or the receipt. After a lengthy conversation, they finally agreed to refund $150 out of the ~$350 we felt should be refunded. The manager of the store told us she would reach out to Edward Anderson, the district manager for her location, and have him contact me to talk further about the issue. I asked if she could call him while we were in the store but she refused, saying he was too busy opening another store to be interrupted by a minor customer service issue. To date, there has been no contact from him. My daughter wrote her own Yelp review about her initial experience at this location. I was the only customer on the exam side and I already mentioned the advertisement seemed false for what I was told once I arrived. A lady came and worked out what she said was a miscommunication and rushedly added no on-site Dr. which to me was slid in with some other communication so I wasn't really paying that much attention to what that meant until after I did got through with part of the process for exam and once seated I was told the Dr. is on teleprompter. After the Dr on there asked me for questions before this began I asked her how is this way compared to the other way of being there looking since my family history of my sister has glaucoma and my father macula degeneration. I also was told I'll have linear degeneration later in life. The Dr. explained it's not the same to be seen as a direct look but the machines would tell the information to get the prescriptions to be able to see. Anything beyond woukd be referred out to specialists like an Opthamologist I needed. I told her I didn't feel comfortable and wanted to cancel so that was arranged. First I had 3 pm appointment. I called and told them I didn't have to go to work till 7. What would be latest time I could come in and still have time to have glasses mad that same day. They said as long as I arrived by 330 I would be fine. The doctor was on screen and very impatient. After waiting hr after finishing with him my orders finally arrived Lady helping me was sweetheart and said she they should be able to my glasses in house. After getting to last page that was not an option. But I was assured they would be in within 5 to 7 days. And she said it wouldn't take that long because my script was so simple. As of today it's been 6 days no calls nothing. I had to call them and reach very rude man who said they lab says around the 20th they will be done. 3 weeks it's going to take to get my glasses. I informed them from beginning how important it is for me get my glasses. I'm having problems wt work. If going take any longer then other eye place best value eyeglasses(I believe) who does 2 pairs glasses and eye exam for 69. Then I would can and get my glasses their. Last 3 times I got glasses that's where I went and received my glasses within 3 days every time. They don't have option of same day. They also have way larger selection of frames that fall into the $69 for 2 pair price range. At this point it would still be faster get refund and go beat value glasses. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! They don't tell you that the doctor you see is virtual before you make your appointment. They don't dilate your eyes, supposedly because the technology has advanced and dilation is not needed. The customer service stinks. I'm hard of hearing and the technician had me sit almost behind her, so I couldn't hear part of what she was saying. I finally moved to a seat in front of her so I could hear her. Last but not least, there is a very vulgar sign at the entrance to the office area, in full sight of customers looking at frames. The sign would have been hidden if they had bothered to keep the office door closed. I had planned to purchase my glasses there and was prepared to spend several hundred dollars for bifocals, transition lenses, the works. This did not happen. Sorry, Stanton, you lost my business! This review is Specific to the Harbison Blvd. location. Terrible experience! I arrived on time for my appointment and was taken back late. It wasn't until I got to the exam room that I was informed that my eye exam would be conducted virtually. Not knowing any better, I agreed. The doctor seemed rushed and hurried me through the process and told me, "It's not going to be perfect." I felt like the exam was flawed, but I had no recourse. I exited the exam room and was told I needed to pick out frames. I asked if I could return later since my 15-minute appointment had taken almost an hour and was informed that the "free eye exam with a purchase of glasses" only counts if you get the glasses the same day. So, I quickly picked out frames and left. I was told the glasses would take one week and they took over two weeks and I had to call to inquire about the status. When I picked up the glasses, they felt terribly off. I was reassured that I would get used to them, so that is what I tried. After a week and a half, I returned to explain that I could not wear the glasses because I felt sick when I wore them. I was strongly encouraged to allow them to "tweak" the glasses and reassured that an adjustment would fix the issue, so I did. I received a call that my glasses were ready, so I went to the store and they were not ready. Wasted trip! Once they were finally ready, I returned to the store and put them on, and they still felt terrible. I inquired about the "30-day satisfaction guarantee" and was told that was nullified by my agreeing to have them "tweak" the prescription. Worst place ever. They cheat you & your insurance company. My insurance gives a $400 allowance toward frames & lenses. I was told frames were included with my insurance & I could get any frames in the store. With a $400 allowance I didn't expect to spend any money out of pocket. When I sat down with sales associate he 1st quoted me a price of $280. I told him I would come back bc I had $858 electric bill due in a week or my electricity would be shut off. He didn't care he still kept pressuring me & changing the price until he finally went down to $33. I agreed to pay it bc I just want out of the store I felt so uncomfortable. I was getting a pair of frames I liked but with crappy lenses. I kept saying I wanted anti glare bc I have astigmatism in both eyes. I thought I was getting it. Got home looked at my receipt & it wasn't on there. He pressured me into getting Polycarbonate lenses & even said he could give them to me for $33 but charged me full price. Don't quote someone a cheaper price even with insurance & charge full price. I asked the associate if I got cheaper frames could I get everything I wanted. He said no it wouldn't make a difference. Don't get Colton he is the pushy associate & apparently his manager Corey doesn't care or is just as bad. Corey called me & left a voicemail so I have proof that even she doesn't know what she is doing. After I complained to the by email to headquarters they sent my email to the same store I went to instead of doing anything about it. Corey calls & says insurance used to be that way but it has changed & now you have copays on the lenses. That's how knowledgeable their store manager is. He quickly changed it back to $33. My frames were $119.99, I got the standard progressive lenses 229.99, polycarbonate 80.98 but was quoted $33 for it but charged the 80. That came to 430.95 even if you were to add tax to that it's still not $63 over $400. So this place makes no sense & is a rip off. If you order their glasses online they don't add tax. Also they give the option to remove anti glare from standard progressive lenses which is an extra $45.98. I kept stressing to the associate I wanted anti glare he pushed Polycarbonate. Had he just given me what I asked for & not pressured me I wouldn't be writing them bad reviews everywhere. My $400 from my insurance company wasn't enough. This guy wanted you to pay out of pocket too. I'm disabled on Medicare. So they took advantage of the disabled & cheated Medicare by doing so bc they lied about what my insurance company covered. I contacted my insurance twice. First time was the day after to see if I was correct in what my insurance covered. The 2nd time was after Corey left that voicemail. The 2nd time they said they did commit fraud by what they did & asked if I wanted the fraud department. I said no I was going to give them a chance to make it right 1st. Well they did refund me $33. Make sure you shop around as they are so expensive, and you can't cancel any orders you make even if they haven't been delivered, used or even made. I just started going to Stanton optical for my eye appointments and I am so thrilled with their service! I have a busy schedule but they are always so welcoming and accept walk in appointments. My most recent appointment I had walked in and had my eye exam done within 30 minutes and picked out 2 pairs of glasses as well. I got my prescription within a couple days! I had an eye appointment today at Stanton Optical in Harbison today. The optometrist for my appointment was Dr.Holcombe. Blakely was with me and she was sitting in the corner of the room quietly. I told her if she was good I would take her to get ice cream or frozen yogurt after. As our appointment was finishing up and we were walking out the room Dr.Holcombe said "she's cute but I think it's time you all cut her off at her end of the table." I was stunned because did he really just make a comment on my child's weight? He then said he hopes she didn't understand what He said, which shows that he acknowledged the fact that he just called a child fat. Yes he made a "fat" joke about my 4 year old. Y'all when I say that steam blew out of my ears- how flippin dare he?? And the audacity of his boldness to speak like that. The people at the desk said that they were so sorry. He is a floating optometrist and had only been helping out on the weekends. What the freak is wrong with this world that people think it is acceptable to call children fat and speak so freely on other peoples body images without any repercussions. He was an elderly man and it was brushed off as if because he's "old school" it was acceptable for him to speak about my child like that. It's not acceptable to speak to anyone like that especially a child, and definitely not my child. People really needs to do better. I wanted to make a report and the front of the house people said there wasn't a corporate number and that they would pass a message on to a supervisor. This is not okay. This place is terrible. My husband went in there on April 5 for an eye exam. Things went well with that however, the prices for everything is outrageous. He paid almost $800 for two pairs of glasses (one pair was some safety glasses). We were told that the glasses would be ready in two weeks. We went back after the two weeks and only the safety glasses were ready. They didn't say why the other pair was not ready. We told them to just ship the other pair to our address. They never came. We went back two weeks later and then they told us that they didn't have the frames for the second pair. You would think that someone would have called and told us that. The manager in the store said that they had a pair of frames in the store and they would have the lenses shipped to the store and they would put them into the frames there. She was supposed to call my husband to let him know if they were doing that. She never called. He still has not received the second pair. Never again... prescription was put in the computer wrong on their end so had to get glasses remade found this out after they tried to make me get another exam with no date determined when the retest could be done showed up to the store twice after getting notification that glasses and contacts were ready the first time an associate placed them under the wrong name and they couldn't find them . It's been a month since I dropped off my frames to get lenses. The girl told me about 10 days since it was a simple prescription. Every time I call the company I get the run around. I went into the location the last 2 weeks to find out what was going on and last week the guy working told me they were shipped and should be there Any day. I just checked the order status online and it now says "delayed" and pushed the date back another 10 days. Unbelievable. I asked customer service that if they are not done soon, can I just get a refund and he said no, since the order has been placed. So am I just supposed to possibly wait a year? Do yourself a favor. There is a reason that this location has a 1.5 rating on yelp. My wife and I whom both got our prescriptions at this location went in to get our frames adjusted and in the process of adjusting our frames the employee there accidentally melted both my wife and my lenses to our frames causing it to be very blurry to try and see through them. When I tried to ask the manager what the could do to reimburse us she stated that they would not be able to help us because we did not purchase the actual frames there. The frames were ordered online however we did get our prescription there at that location. Usually a business is responsible regardless once an employee damages a customer's eyeglasses.
