Well I was here in July and had a great experience. Today I brought my daughter in to see Dr Moomey. No one told me, when I called for this appointment that he never works on Sundays. Great. So they opened at 12 noon. Our appointment is at 12:30. We are still in the waiting room. Waiting. There is a sign which says that people with appointments have priority, yet there are 2 people they just called back who are walk-ins (as evidenced by the sign-in sheet). There are another 6 people signed in for appointments at 12noon. Not sure that's the wisest plan when there's only one doctor working.... To boot: half hour after opening, the bathroom is out of toilet paper. (Grrrr) Looking like we will have to reschedule & this disappoints me GREATLY, as my time is scarce AND valuable. With discount places you always have to factor in more time. That said, I've spent over four hours sitting on this waiting room between my optometrist appointment and picking up my glasses. The staff has completely forgotten about me twice and I had to come back for my glasses after waiting because they "didn't pass inspection". This is my first yelp review and I'm prompted to post as I am over an hour in on this, my third wait time. If you're short on cash and need glasses, they're the cheapest in town, but be prepared to sink a lot of time here. In the future, I'll be going to Lenscrafters. read more

Walked in day after Thanksgiving about 11am for an eye exam. Only waited about 20-30 minutes for exam. Exam cost was only $29 (included with purchase of glasses). Was going to order glasses on line, thinking progressive lenses for glasses would be high in price. After the exam, asked a few questions and began looking at frames. Ended up with 2 pairs of glasses, they deducted the exam cost which I already paid cash for. Total cost of $200 even for 2 pairs of progressive lenses with exam from Stanton Optical. Total time there was only about 2 hours (45 minute wait & exam time), hour or so me looking & deciding on frames and purchase paperwork. Glasses were ready next day at 2pm as stated. Arrived next day at 2:05 and was out the door with new glass by 2:30pm On line would of been $203 for one pair, another place on line would of been $150 for 1 pair. My old original pair was 14 yrs old, progressive lenses back then amounted to $500 for 2 pair. So $200 even from Stanton Optical was a more than reasonable, great price & service. read more

After being at the store for almost 3 hours just get told that I have to come back to do the contact (class). Came back the next day done it in less than 15 minutes. Ok fine! Well I have been still waiting on contacts and new lens to come in. Every time I call about have they come in yet. I get told different dates for both contacts and lens for when they will be in. Found out the lens finally came in. After I called them just to see. They tell you they will call you when they are in and guess what. They still haven't called me. I'm having to do all the work here about my order. Go to get them put in and they tell me that they can't because the technician is out sick. Well, I then ask when will my contacts be in the lady looks in the cabinet and says they are not here. Ok so can you tell me when they will be and she says no I don't know when they will be in. FYI she never even looked the order up or nothing. Also, every time I call customer service I'm having to wait on hold an 1 1/2 to 2 hours just for someone from customer service to pick up. They were very slow and I had to almost wait 2 hours because they took walk in's and I had a appointment. The staff is very friendly but they kept saying come in this time and they will be ready and my glasses weren't so I had to wait even more. They have really good service but they are very slow. There was a lot of great selections. However, the prices were different from talking with the associates and cost more than expected.

Decent selection but takes awhile to get your glasses if they have to order the lens. I went 2 weeks later to pick mine up and was pleasantly surprised that they got my prescription correct. However, the lady working there said my a lens in my second pair had a scratch and they had already ordered another set of lenses and would replace them. Now 2 months and 5 pairs of lenses later I wish I had stayed with the unnoticeable scratch. I have spent more time and money in gas dealing with them than if I had paid a little more and went somewhere else. I have to say their prices are great but not worth the headache of dealing with them. I can't say that I will ever buy from them again. Very disappointed! read more

27 days after I paid, I got the call that my glasses came in. The sales people had no clue what was going on or how to do their job. The visit was almost 3 hours. You read that right, 3 hours for a single pair of glasses. I wasn't the only one in that boat there either. NEVER will I go to Stanton again!! On top of my groupon (that they didn't know how to use) for $150 towards eyewear, I still had to pay almost $50 for one pair. Go elsewhere, Americas Best has 2 for $69.95. Do you think appointment times should be ignored? Do you think it's ok to let friends or family members go ahead of others already waiting? If you answered no, then this is not the place for you!! We had a 9:15 appointment time, arrived when the door was being unlocked. Finally got called at 10 after watching several people get called ahead of us, some with no appointment. One of which just walked in the door at 9:40, who was obviously friends with the receptionist, and went straight back. When questioned the excuse was their appt was at 9 and ours was at 9:15. Really??? And we were not the only ones to mention it. I've never in my life had my appt time held for me. If your policy is first come first serve then fine...say so. But, even this would not apply in this case. Playing favoritism is one thing but don't flaunt it in front of rule abiding customers. Rude and disrespectful is no way to run a business. The doctor I saw was very nice and helpful. It has been 3 weeks since my glasses were ordered and they aren't ready! The fitting for the sunglasses I bought was terrible! She never did get those right and I'm almost sure the prescription in the sunglasses is not right! And BOGO FREE?? I'm pretty sure that is a joke after $650 for 2 pairs of glasses! I went to Stanton Optical in Augusta, Ga in om 11/03/2017 for an exam and glasses. The doctor was wonderful, the staff was great but my glasses were terrible, double vision in my right eye. I saw the doctor again and told them he put too much power in that eye so he changed the prescription and was told to come back. Went back and the prescription was still not right, went back again for the 3rd time. It is a long drive for me as I live in Aiken, SC and can't keep coming back all the time. It takes up an entire day to go. The supervisor, Dennis, asked me wear the glasses for 3 days, if it still wasn't correct to call him and he would refund my money. I gave it a week, called him because I still can't wear the glasses and he said he would call me back in an hour to sort it all out. I thought we sorted it out the last time I was in. Absolutely the worst business to deal with . I had an exam for contacts and glasses, and ordered two pairs of glasses , the buy one get one free deals . Which cost over $500. They gave me a sample of contacts , I put them in and couldn't see to drive , so I return inside the store and told them I couldn't see. I was told this was the prescription by the dr and I could make an appt to see him again. One pair of glasses came in so I picked them up and could not see with those either . I drive back to the store , wait an hour or so, and they say they will have them redone. The second pair comes in and I can't see close up but could see distance . So I make another trip back to the store . Wait another hour , and they suggest I see the dr again. This was a different dr., and had another exam. I also brought a box from my old contacts with me to show the dr what I had been wearing , They give me another sample of contacts and This prescription was completely different than the one I had from a previous dr. Wasn't even close to the previous prescription. But I could finally see with the contacts . Left the glasses and new prescription to have glasses remade . Picked them up a week later , and exactly the same thing . The bi focals were completely off on one pair and I couldn't see distance with the other pair. I was told I needed to get accustomed to them . I finally gave up and am stuck with two pairs of glasses that are useless. The "technicians" and "Doctors " are incompetent . One girl who helped me actually understood my frustration but she wasn't the one who made the lens, so she couldn't help me there. I will never return . read more

I made an eye appointment for myself and my son. Stanton Optical called and canceled the same day as my appointment. Made another appointment a few days later, the day of my appointment they called and canceled again. Both times said they were double booked. I wasted a lot of time dealing with this place and had to juggle my schedule and my sons schedule in order to get the scheduling to work in the first place. You go in thinking you'll get a great deal on glasses because online they have all these great sales plastered. But nowhere do they bother to mention that you can't get these sales deals if you use your insurance to pay. So they lure you in with false advertising and then when you take upgrade I'm going to get a great deal they're running a buy one get one free my insurance will pay for the first one and I'll get a free pair of glasses and then they go oh no no no you've only get your one but you're welcome to pay for extra if you want to buy some more. They're scheming scam artists and they're completely Unapologetic for it they just tell you that's just the way it is and it's going to be the same way everywhere else and a very nasty when you decide you know what I want to have to put up with this and you leave and they laugh unapologetically while they're telling you what it's going to be the same everywhere else you'll be back. read more

In December, I used a Groupon for my eye exam and to have new glasses made. I called and made an appointment. In all, I was there around 3 hours. The tech had already done my eye exam and I was then waiting for Doctor Hoover. There were several people who came in and signed in and sat down after me that were being seen. I finally asked the receptionist why I hadn't been seen yet, and all these people had, and she told me that they were seeing another doctor. It was only after the 2nd time I complained that she "found" my file in a spot it shouldn't have been, and put it in the section for Doctor Hoover. When I got in to see him, he was great, Doctor Hoover made up for most of the crappy service I received, and I told him so. I said that he and Janice should work elsewhere and if they did, I would certainly do business with them. Three weeks ago, I took the glasses I described above for warranty work. The non-scratch glass was scratched. I took my receipt with me, and was told by the manager, yes, we can order a replacement lens for you and have it cut down, if this really bothers you! I assured him that it did. When I got the call that the lens was ready, I dropped off my glasses on Tuesday and explained that instead of one hour service, I'd leave them over night, so I would not have a one hour or more wait. I stopped in the next day and signed in at the desk to pick up my glasses. There was NO ONE at the desk to either greet or explain what was happening or to let me know that someone would be with me in a moment. I finally flagged down a short girl with spiky blonde hair and asked her who was working the desk, and she waved her hand toward a woman in the lens cutting place, and said, "She is". She turned out to be a woman of later years who hadn't a clue what to do, what order to do it in, and how to do it in a timely manner. I watched her walk in and out of the glass cutting room 3 times about a pair of glasses, and when she finally asked a gentleman in there a question, I saw him say to her to, "put those aside for now...". He must have seen my evil glare. Next on the list was dispatched, and the following, then was the man before me. Again, back and forth, back and forth, looking here, looking there, snapping on her chewing gum, not finding the gentleman's glasses. Of course, as I was next, I envision my wait time stretching out in front of me like an endless country road. Mrs. Whiggins, (from the old Carol Burnett Shows)(the older lady that hadn't a clue) couldn't read those names on the trays and chomp that gum at the same time. It was too much for her. So, our little, blond chick decides to step in and help. But, what does SHE DO? She sees this long, tall, drink of water walk in the door, and she immediately greets him coyly and flirty. Spiky goes to the back and gets his glasses in his tray, and sits down beside him to help him "with the fit". I was aghast! Maybe she wasn't working the floor, but to walk out and help a customer that had JUST WALKED IN THE DOOR? Knowing that we had all been in the lobby, waiting about 30 minutes each for Mrs. Whiggins to assist us, and to bypass all of us and sit down with the tall dude? I was outraged by now, as were all the other customers waiting. The gentleman that Mrs. Whiggins was trying to help was finally told that his glasses weren't ready. The reason they were nowhere to be found was that someone had been trying to reach him to tell him that the lens wouldn't fit into his glasses. The manager was telling him this, with Mrs. Whiggins standing ineffectually by. I was done. I begged Janice to, "Please just give me my glasses, and let me out of here!" I dropped them off yesterday to avoid this frustration, and now, 30 minutes have passed and there didn't seem to be anyone that was going to call my name within the next 15. Plus I passed on Spikey's behavior to her. Again, Spikey may not be customer service, Tall Dude may have had an appointment, but maybe she should have stepped in before she took all those breaks out in back of the building or running hither and yon and definitely before you help someone just as they walk in the door, when others have been waiting on Mrs. Whiggins. Don't make it so obvious that you are giving preferential treatment. Bottom line, Dr. Hoover and Janice, thank you for your superior customer service and your impressive work ethic. (Dr. Hoover was throwing up when I was there the first time, but he finished out the day, anyway!) Your natural customer service ability made the lack of it in everyone you work with much more apparent. My suggestion would be to toss everyone to the street except for these two, and start all over in your hiring. Maybe you could then see a rating on this page of 4 or more. No matter, I'll never see improvements, if there are any, because I'll NEVER RETURN TO STANTON OPTICAL!!!!! read more

The buy one get one free is not as it is----be careful. We have waited over three weeks for one pair to be ready. Really bad service and they will harass you to buy glasses whether you need them or not. I liked my glasses and simply wanted the news lens put in my glasses but I was harassed to buy more glasses. I was very disappointed and will definitely not go back to this location at the corner of Bobby Jones and Washington Road in Martinez, Ga. I didn't like this place. I was a new patient and doc said I should have brought my old glasses In so they could compare my vision. But when I made my apt no one informed me of that. Second with a new patient they should have asked if I need my eyes dialated. They didn't. Then third when I finally got my glasses the nose pads were to big I requested smaller ones they didn't have any. So I asked could they order some and they said no. Poor customer service.So now I'm stuck with glasses not to my liking. I had to go to another eye glass place for them to put smaller nose pads on. So inconvient! Will not go again! I wanted to share my recent experience at my local Stanton Optical location in Augusta, Ga. I called Saturday morning, August 8th, before the facility opened at 9 and left a message that I would like an exam of my left eye because my daughter scratched it and I was having discomfort. By noon I had no return call, so I phoned again and spoke with a very professional, helpful man named Evan who was able to schedule me an appointment that day at 5:30 pm. I explained that my chief complaint was the scratch on my eye, but that if possible I would also like an exam for glasses and contacts. I arrived at 5:15 and signed in. I was greeted courteously by a woman at the front desk who assisted with checking me in and handling my insurance info. I was taken to the back to get measurements and the puff of air, where I again explained that I was having trouble opening my eye because of the scratch. She immediately went to get the Doctor to examine me but he had left for the day. I was very disappointed that I never even got to see or speak to a doctor. The front desk staff offered to schedule me an appointment for the following day, but I had already waited all day in discomfort for the appointment, as well as arranged for childcare so that I could be examined at 5:30. I asked to speak to an office manager to try to figure out what happened. I observed the girl from the front desk approach the manager who was conversing with a female friend. They spoke for several minutes, presumably about what had happened. I watched for a few minutes as the manager and friend glanced over their shoulder a few times at me. Eventually I walked over just in time to hear he and his female friend crack a joke about getting off work that night so that he could enjoy a glass of wine. I was appalled that he would stand there and slam a patient who was waiting to speak to him. I voiced my disappointment to him and told him that I was not interested in returning the following day as the customer service that I had received was sub-par. He stated that he was sorry I felt that way, he disagreed, then he opened the door in a gesture for me to leave. This was the rudest I have ever been treated by a manager in any establishment in my life. I asked for his name and he refused to give it to me, choosing instead to stand outside while holding the door open. I went back to the front desk and learned that his name is Doug. On the way out I told him that I was going to call customer service and tell them about the way I was treated, he replied that I shouldn't worry about it as he was going to call himself. I cannot believe that I was treated so poorly by this manager, Doug. Even the girl at the front desk had enough customer service training and sense to apologize for the doctor leaving early and attempt to resolve the issue by rescheduling the exam. I wanted to share my experience and let the customer service department know how disappointed I was. Augusta is a big area, there are other choices for optical needs besides Stanton. I will never return to another Stanton Optical. read more

The wait times are long even if you have an appointment scheduled. Dr. Hoover is really nice but the staff could use some training in customer service and how everyone should be treated. Staff acts like salesmen--I had to negotiate my price from the original quote of $452 to $200 for a pair of glasses and two boxes of contacts. If this could've been my price in the first place, why did I need to negotiate? I would've been out of $250 if I would've trusted the staff. Also, when the girl I was working with was trying her best to make me THINK she giving me such a great deal, one of her coworkers walks over and comments, "Well if she doesn't want to take the deal, just stop trying to help her". This was extremely rude and the staff doesn't appreciate their customers or do what's best for them. I've been coming here for four years and I'm extremely happy to say that I will be taking my business back to Eyeglass World once my contacts and glasses come in. read more

The most shadiest place to do business! They are extremely dishonest with their pricing. I worked with Jessica, and she would not put my pricing options on paper. When I finally got her to put it on paper, she would throw it away as soon as she could. Do not give them your money! Ordered glasses high index transition lenses. The frames I chose were half frames. 9 Days later I call to check on them. They were ready, but my first thought was 'When were you going to tell me?'. The transition lenses didn't transition. When I told the girl about this she said "They won't transition in the car". When I informed her I held them out the window for 5 minutes she changed her tune. Also they were almost 1/2 thick. When I asked about the thickness I was told I couldn't have High index (thin) lenses with that type of frame. No one bothered to tell me this the first time. So now I'm waiting for my second pair. Poor customer service, Ok selection. Will not be going here again. Payed $400 dollars for 2 pairs AFTER insurance. read more

The optometrist did an excellent job on the eye exam. Store personnel could learn a LOT from him!!! They display a lackadaisical attitude toward the customer, and show total indifference with customer concerns. I purchased glasses on a Saturday, and they were suppose to be ready after 3 pm on Monday. They were indeed ready, however it took over an hour of waiting time because they had only one lady dispensing the glasses and she was VERY SLOW and seemed to be in a fog. There are many eyeglass stores in Augusta--do YOURSELF a favor and find one other than Stanton. read more

There are many things wrong with this place, but let me say one nice thing first. The doctor doing the eye exams is awesome. Very professional and patient. But, I had a 1pm appointment to see him and didn't get called until 2:45. The problem is that they have sigh up sheets that you sign in on (appointment or not) and the call names in the order in which they are on the list. Their frame selection is not the best, but I was able to find frames that I liked. Forget the BOGO offer, it ended up costing an additional $129, so I passed. The lady that fits the glasses is nice and wants to talk to personalize your visit. That is great, but she needs help. Generally there are five or six people working, but I could only see two or three actually helping customers (this doesn't include the guys cutting the lenses or the eye doctors). If you're in a hurry, want to save some money, or hate endless waits - avoid this place. read more

I visited for a contact exam on 5/22/14, I had to revisit an additional 3 times because they couldnt get the prescription right. They were all over the board with the prescription and after having to go to a totally different doctor and pay for another exam Stanton will no refund their exam price even though I took them receipts and my correct prescription to show them how wrong both their Dr's were. Called their customer service everyday and left messages and noone calls back. Would not reccomend them to anyone!! read more

I recently damaged the frame on a pair of glasses I purchased from Stanton Optical. When I took the damaged frame in for replacement I was told they did not have the same frame and they would give me another frame. Sound good? Here is the kicker - I would have to purchase new lens for the replacement frame. I asked for my money back for the warranty but they would not reimburse me. Stay away from these people. read more

Doctor was great and selection was ok also but had to return several times for pickup due to glasses not being ready on time. Asked for contacts to be shipped to my house, as I usually do. A month later, haven't received my order. I call, because I live an hour and a half away and get the run around.......hung up on, transferred several times because my file doesn't show that I paid a shipping charge. Buyer beware of buying your glasses from here!!!! I got my eye exam done on May 5th and purchased my glasses then. They had to be sent out for anti-glare protection and transition lenses; I was told they would be back in 2 weeks. It is now June 2, and I still have not received my glasses yet!!! I have called all along the way, during this time and have received a variation of excuses. Examples-- the lab is running behind, I don't know what the problem is, it could take 21 days, you need to give it a couple more days and then speak with a manager!!! NO HELP!!!! Is all I can say!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I want be purchasing my glasses from here in the future!!! They were very quick to take my money, but very slow and poor in producing my GLASSES!!!! read more

I purchased glasses from Stanton Optical on Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN on August 14, 2017. While picking up glasses I expressed strong concern that something was wrong with the new glasses. I was told to take them home and try them in the morning with "fresh eyes" each day for a week. I did just as asked and I literally could NOT function with the glasses. I brought them back and mgr insisted they try some other things. I waited again for a 2nd pair of new glasses and when I picked those up, I explained those were better but still not right. Again, mgr told me to try for a week with "fresh eyes". I did and still couldn't use them. I called and politely explained that neither set have worked and that at this point I would like a refund. This was now the 1st week of October. Lab mgr told me I probably couldn't get refund so I asked to speak with sales mgr. That same mgr, again, tried to tell me that she was not sure I could get a refund. Stanton doesn't usually allow refunds. I politely expressed my frustration and stated that I wanted the refund and for the mgr to contact corporate and get back with me. Mgr never got back with me. I called her back about 9days and she then proceeded to tell me that on this day, Monday, that the refund was approved but that I would have to call back on that following Friday or Sunday to give my credit card information to process the refund of $428.00!! I couldn't call on Friday but I called on Monday. She took my information and stated it would take 3-5 days for my credit to process. It has now been 12 days and still no refund!! I called mgr back today and she called corp and stated it was just then processed and I should check my credit card. I have checked and checked and still no refund. I am no longer being polite and patient with this process. I have been taken advantage of because of my kindness. I have been pushed too far and have been taken advantage of. I want my refund of $428.00 as soon as possible. I will continue to fight for my refund until I receive it. I will never recommend Stanton Optical and will discourage anyone I know from shopping there. This has been a 3 month nightmare! Terrible Customer Service. I talked to the reservation customer service representative (who was overly nice, helpful, and a perfect representative for the company) about setting up an Appointment for 5:45 pm on a regular work day. I was at the intersection of Washington Rd and Bobby Jones Exp (Augusta Stanton location) at 5:42 pm when I received a phone call from a local store representative (Christi) to reschedule for Tomorrow. She expressed that their doctors (Dr. Hoover) leave at 6 pm and she would have to check with them to see if they could keep my appt. Will Never spend a dollar here. And I am glad I was not a patron of this establishment now as they currently have a 1.5 Star rating. Probably would not have been a good experience, but I will never know as it was ruined before entering the location. The Doctors or owners here should have a better work ethic to help all customers and if that is not displayed or emphasized to their workforce they should improve there. read more
