I would not recommend this Dr. or The Eye Guys. They are more worried about money than getting you…read morethe best results for your eyes. I also picked up some racial tones (was told they would hate to see my account go to collections - why was that assumption made when you must pay before the procedure). I told them I would pay for the procedure out of pocket, if need be, but they still would not schedule me. Who turns down cash payments? The way they handled me it seems like there may be some insurance fraud taking place. I was told that some medical insurance companies had started paying for the procedure that I needed and that they would check with my insurance. However, when the benefits person came in to talk to us, she came in automatically stating that my insurance would not pay in a condescending tone as if my insurance was low rate, which I know it is not. I have never had a problem with them paying a claim in the past. She never even called them before she made that statement. So, I called to check for myself only to be told that they do have the procedure code listed with an allowable amount. So, I get her on the phone with the insurance company and she would not even allow the guy to speak. She kept overtalking him. I asked them to file my insurance with the understanding that I know I am responsible for the balance if my insurance don't pay the claim. I was told they could not do that because they knew the insurance would not pay so then I asked to be put on the schedule and I will pay upfront for the procedure and was still told they could not do that. Then when I met with the Dr. again, he said they were assuming all the risks and would hate to have to send me to collections if I disappeared. How are you assuming all the risks if I am paying up front? During this meeting after they decided my insurance would not pay then the Dr. (whom was on board for the procedure during my appt) offered a different treatment plan which he stated would benefit me right now and then later on down the road when they thought they could bill my insurance we could do the procedure. Why is there so much emphasis on billing the insurance unless there is some type of fraud involved? The Dr.'s credibility dropped at that moment for me because he allowed what his benefits department told him to alter the treatment plan he offered me stating he did not know my discretionary income and didn't want to take food off my table but shouldn't I be the one, as the paying patient, decide what I can or cannot afford? Something is not right about this place.

Augusta Eye M.D. is the absolute BEST if you want to have the very best, top notch care by an eye…read moredoctor ( Mine is Dr. Anthony Daniel's ) + I must mention Dr. Staats too, as he has helped me too . Dr. Daniel's takes his time with you , you never feel rushed by him , he tells you everything in detail about what is wrong with your eyes in layman's terms , he cares about making sure you know exactly how to care for your eyes and recommends a solution to you even before you ask . Dr. Daniel's shows genuine care, professionalism, and makes you feel totally at ease like you are the only patient . I must add this , too, if you have an issue with your eyes and they know what it is , they ( the staff + the doctor ) save you time and money by letting them know the issue and they will call your pharmacy with a prescription to save you time too , This has been SO very helpful for me at least 3 times being a patient here ! Also , THE STAFF is , I must praise their entire staff's professionalism for making you feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you walk in the door until you walk out ! This place is so very organized, cozy , and the staff just goes many ,many extra miles to make you feel you made the right decision to be their patient ! I want to give a shout out to several that are simply the best ! First , there was Tracey who did an examination and it was exceptionally thorough! When I say Tracey is through I mean she asked every question that was needed and did a stellar assessment before I was seen by Dr. Daniel's himself after she finished with me ! YAY, TRACEY! , Then , after my awesome appointment with Dr. Daniel's , I needed new glasses and I had the most wonderful , pleasant lady named Angie who helped me with glasses ! Such a delightful woman , caring, kind, knowledgeable, she picked out glasses for me because the ones I had picked were not complimentary for me . Angie knows her skill , super knowledgeable about helping fit new glasses and explaining everything , Keep it up, Angie ! And , to top it off , there is Sharon at the front desk whenever you check out ! She is phenomenal!! Always a smile , happy to see you , asks if you need anything , Sharon is fabulous! I cannot leave out Noel , front desk , fantastic personality and I would never leave out Jennifer, who has known me forever and ever from another eye doctor , and she is superb! Jennifer, all of you are the best assets to represent Augusta Eye, MD ! One can never find a better group of employees or a finer physician than Dr. Daniel's and all this staff ! Thank you for your outstanding CARE‼‼‼‼‼

When I finally did go through with the first visit, I was surprised that there was no pain involved. The actual injection literally takes about three seconds. After the first visit, the intimidation was completely gone. Hopefully, this puts your mind at ease if you're about to begin the same treatment. I had multiple visits, each lasting about an hour which included several eye exams before the actual treatment. I went to the Riverwatch location and did not experience any longer than expected delays. Although they don't recommend it, I was able to drive myself home after each visit with the help of some really dark sunglasses. I'm not sure if my vision has improved much, but I can say that it hasn't gotten any worse. So, I feel the treatment helps.
