So, I'm one of the reasons they overbook appointments. I rescheduled my first three visits before I could get past the intimidating thought of having a needle stuck into my eyeball. When I finally did go through with the first visit, I was surprised that there was no pain involved. The actual injection literally takes about three seconds. After the first visit, the intimidation was completely gone. Hopefully, this puts your mind at ease if you're about to begin the same treatment. I had multiple visits, each lasting about an hour which included several eye exams before the actual treatment. I went to the Riverwatch location and did not experience any longer than expected delays. Although they don't recommend it, I was able to drive myself home after each visit with the help of some really dark sunglasses. I'm not sure if my vision has improved much, but I can say that it hasn't gotten any worse. So, I feel the treatment helps. read more

This place also provides hearing aids to an office in Columbus, GA (West GA Eye Care). Of course, they don't even offer to file your insurance claim in the Columbus office for the purchase of hearing aids. It just so happens that my insurance plan at the time covers the purchase of EXPENSIVE hearing aids, $3900 to be exact. My insurance company can't get EHA Georgia Clinical Practice @ 3685 Wheeler Rd, Suite 202, Augusta, GA 30909 to respond to a request for the CORRECT tax ID for the hearing services. I'm going to be out a lot of money because these people don't have their act together. This has been nothing but a pain in the ass. read more

Wait times can be long, but the care here is some of the best care i've had from a medical facility. the front desk from the 2nd time and everytime after that have always recognized my face to check me in, and are very personable. Dr Marcus maybe be very "short" when speaking but he's straight to the point and blunt. He's very very thorough though and if you have any questions he'll make sure you understand. i had my surgery here and it wasn't a "light" surgery. but they've taken care of me and it has always been a pleasant experience. read more

Where do I even start? This office so severely overbooks patients that a normal visit that could take about an hour, takes 3 or 4 hours. On one of several visits, the temperature had to have been around 60 and I literally caught a cold. Most of the medical assistants have been kind and professional. I initially was referred to them for a detached retina. I was charged over $600 before the surgery based on their calculations of what insurance would cover. Within a couple of weeks of the surgery, it was determined that they owed me a refund of over $200. Due to continued incompetence, excuses and lack of follow-up, it took close to 4 months for me to receive this refund. Dr. Xu performed the retinal detachment surgery and from what I can tell the results are excellent. However, he is considerably lacking in bedside manner. His reaction to hitting a blood vessel when giving me the deadening injection was that I must be a bleeder, which I definitely am not. I returned to Dr. Xu several months later when developing floaters in my other eye. The initial diagnosis was that it was fine. At a follow-up visit after saying everything looked fine, he decided to take another look because I asked if the floaters were OK. He poked and prodded at my eye for 10-15 minutes and then stated that I needed laser treatment. I agreed to it and proceeded to go through the most agonizing process I've ever been through. It was a very long process of trying to keep my head steady while looking in the direction Dr. Xu was barking out while he shot the laser in my eye. I don't know how anyone could endure this torture and fatigue to the eye without moving, swallowing or blinking their eye Dr. Xu showed no compassion and just pushed forward like he needed to get to his next patient, scratching my cornea in the process. I then had to go have more pictures, sit in the waiting area, go through more examination and then go back for more laser. Total Hell. He then sent me home with nothing for the pain and without someone to drive me home. I had asked if I needed a driver, when he said I needed laser, and he said I didn't. It was highly dangerous for me to drive. After having to return late that afternoon because of the pain, he suspected me of scratching my eye, which absolutely didn't happen. I have no trust in this doctor and he doesn't seem to really care about his patients. I shall never return to this office. read more

This place is awful. Every single visit will cost you at least a couple hours. It's never taken less than two and a half hours to be seen, and sometimes it has taken in excess of 4 hours. They overbook and fill up the waiting room, and even send people across the hallway to the neighboring office hours before the doctor even starts seeing people, in the wrong order, and everyone waits for hours. It's now 20 minutes after their closing time and we are still waiting. Absolute worst. I have also heard rumors in the waiting room of insurance fraud and consent protocol violation, but don't know if there is any truth to them. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

I have been a patient since 2014. The average appointment process takes about 2 hours. You usually get back to begin the process within a half hour wait, and if it is more you can speak to the receptionist. Tests, dilation take about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, then seen by the doctor and treatment. Also times can be thrown off due to emergency procedures which come up during office visits. I had to undergo two, so they happen. I continue to go here and am very pleased with the treatment from Dr. Marcus. I feel fortunate to go to such a professional, competent facility. It may take a while, but I always feel I am being well cared for. read more

This office has a terrible business practice of making you pay what they think is fair PRIOR to treatment. They come up with some calculation and hold you hostage by refusing to repair a detached retina unless you pay what they think you will owe after insurance clears. We all know that it never works out like they think it will and now they have owed us a refund of over $200 dollars for over 6 weeks and refuse to pay it back. We had another follow up today and they refused to see my husband because we wouldn't pay them MORE money while they still owe us over $200. They are truly in this business for the wrong reason - not to put people first, to heal and help people, but to put money first. Greedy, Stingy, and as my husband says, a Big Bully.
