Treated 3 weeks ago for a serious illness. They were fast to discharge me with no referrals for follow up treatment. It only gets worse from here. I went back less that 12 hours ago and was never given a call light. I had to search for it . Dr.Jefrey Serato,OD,ZERO head to toe exam.He put false information in my chart refuse to correct it. So I just letting everyone know!!!!Don't go here unless you need a tetanus shot.Landon RN came into my room diagnosed me then refuse to advocate SMH.Unsafe and dangerous!!!!

Discharge folder with all your copies in it. Very nice to have.

I am in an emergency room apparently by the supply closet. My entire time here the doors slam to that supply closet constantly. There was a woman last night screaming at the top of her lungs threatening people with their lives. Yesterday I had to ask for food and finally got a hot meal after 7pm. To be fair my nurse did find me a sandwich at lunchtime AFTER I asked for food and gave me crackers peanut butter and something to drink. I was given a hot breakfast five minutes after 7 this morning without asking. Mind you I am type 2 diabetic. It is now 1:42 pm and still don't have food. Pushed call button and was brought a drink and some more crackers and was told food tray on the way. My phone won't call out so I cannot call anyone. Text works one minute and not the next. Unplugged myself from monitors and asked for doctor or director to see what test results are because this level of zero care can be done at home. I did that around 11. Still have not seen a doctor. On top of that this place has a rank smell to it and it is filthy nasty. Trash can is full and so is laundry bag. I got up still attached to IV and wet paper towels to clean top tray just in case I get lucky and they get some food to me. On top of that there's another woman that has been screaming at the top of her lungs for the last hour or more. If I need surgery for what is ailing me I don't think I could let anyone in this place touch me. To be fair again I am in the emergency room so I have no clue what the level of care is in a real room. I will drive to Atlanta before I would EVER come back here. As I said I don't blame the nurses because they seem to be stretched past their limit. YOU HAVE BEEN FORWARNED. BTW it is five minutes till 2 and still don't have tray of food. I been crying uncontrollably for some time now.

The staff not only took care of me but saw that my husband was comfortable, fed and kept up to date on my progress. Surgery is scary enough but when the surgeon, anesthesiologist and nursing staff exude confidence and caring, it makes the whole experience amazing. I had a knee joint replacement. I had it done on the oposite knee at another hospital and it was not a good experience so I was hesitant. This time, at Burke Health, it was a totally different experience. After waking up, having lunch and some terrific pain medication, I felt well enough to go home. A former friend did not want to go there because she said that it was too far to drive. Actually, it was less than an hour, little traffic so comfortable.

From the pre-op/education portion to discharge, the staff were so attentive, organized, seemingly happy ! A rarity these days. No excessive wait times, and I was kept informed throughout the whole process. Care was exceptional from the nursing staff, PT staff, RT staff and other medical support staff. Special kudos to the night medical care staff on the night of 23Mar26 - Serita and Jessica - so attentive and professional. Highly, highly recommend Burke Health for any orthopedic surgery needs !

She had spent a week with no memory and was in such agony that she was unable to care for herself and had been lying in waste in her bed (she lives alone and I found out 8 days later when she was briefly lucid enough to call me). Upon being seen by the Providence ER, the NP did the same scans as Baptist, which obviously found nothing, and upon providing a prescription for a muscle relaxer and a pain medication (one that absolutely NO pharmacies in the county was able to fill because the medicine was such an unusual dose--all of the pharmacies I went to checked their other locations), said they were releasing my great-aunt. I asked for a social worker, who would be able to refer her to a care facility, because my great-aunt was unable to move, barely coherent due to her injuries, and lives alone with no one to care for her. She has Medicare and Tricare, so it wasn't even an issue of not being able to pay for it. The nurse practitioner said there were none there and promptly left. My cousin, also an NP, was on the phone with me. She informed me due to her knowledge as a health care worker that a social worker had to be on call and told me to request one. I did and another woman, who I assume was a nurse, immediately replied there was no one on call. I gave my phone to her, and she repeatedly told my NP cousin that there were no resources they had available to get care secured for my great-aunt nor any beds there for my great-aunt. We repeatedly emphasized that my 85-year old great-aunt was not able to move, not able to care for herself, could not go to the bathroom or clean herself, and had NO ONE to care for her, let alone someone with the necessary health care skills to do so properly. My great-aunt, whose condition was, according to Providence, healthy enough for them not to bother to do anything else or secure assistance for her at another facility, was transmitted back to her home via ambulance and lowered into her bed via stretcher. With great difficulty, I managed to secure a telehealth appointment with my great-aunt's primary care doctor, Craig Maylath, two days later, the soonest I was able to get her seen. Two more days my great-aunt went without the care she needed. Upon informing the primary care office of the situation, I was told that Providence should have facilitated an admission to an acute care facility, given the seriousness of my great-aunt's condition, and as an ER they should have been able to get her in. Without admission directly from an ER, getting my great-aunt into an acute care facility now would prove difficult. I called the Providence ER and asked to speak to a social worker. I was transferred to a woman who identified herself as a case worker and I explained the situation. The case worker told me that there was, in fact, a case worker who was on call that day the whole time. I was lied to. My aunt was finally admitted to Encompass on Wednesday (nearly two weeks after her initial fall). Upon going through lab tests, she was immediately admitted to Richland Memorial ER because of the seriousness of her condition. She spent the next two weeks bouncing back and forth between Encompass and Richland Memorial ER. Yes, I have filed a complaint with the Patient Advocacy. I suspect that, because the advocate's subtle jabs implying a distinction between the term "case worker" and "social worker" during the call, they will close the case and cheerfully skip off, patting themselves on the back for a job well done, to continue to not provide care for patients. Here's why I know that this is a lie and an excuse. I asked for a social worker when I called into Providence ER and was promptly transferred to the "case worker." Clearly the ER themselves uses the term interchangeably themselves, as case workers and social workers at a hospital perform similar duties. Interesting how they are simultaneously equivalent yet distinct depending on what's more convenient in the moment for the hospital workers. I won't get into the possibility of my great-aunt having not receive the care she needed due to her race (she is Korean and speaks with a thick accent, despite being fluent in English and understanding it perfectly). But I think I've made it pretty clear that, if it weren't for my great-aunt having someone there to advocate for her, she would have died because of Providence.
