This picture is of how cold I was while waiting in the emergency room at University hospital positive this is the worst experience ever I'm in emergency room I was there for approximately 11 hours before being taken back to see a doctor not to mention all the other scores of people who are also waiting for a long extensive time. I thought that this was the worst experience ever and I was really in need or it was a life or death situation I'm afraid to say what I think would have happened and by the way this was not the first time that I've experienced as long wait at University thank you.

ER nurse response is poor. Patient used the nurse call for pain meds for broken arm and for bathroom, response is taking way too long!

Sorry- won't do the test... they play off obvious signs of life threatening illness and tell you to make an appointment for out patient care. THEN they can address it. I pray none of you experience what I did and end up losing your mom; your best friend or otherwise like I did.

My husband wanted to take me to the doctor to get seen because I haven't been feeling well for the past couple of days. We got there at 10:00 am and I expected a long wait in the waiting room. I updated paperwork with my new married name and turned it in to the front desk. The front desk obviously did not update my information because I was continuously called by my maiden name, which caused confusion. I told the nurse that my name should be updated now according to my insurance. I did not get a response from her. Then when the doctor came in to take a look she kept saying "it is not Covid. I will test you for the flu. I can test you for covid but I do not recommend it cause it will come back negative." I trusted this doctors word. My husband was alarmed because I was showing symptoms of covid even though they are mild (thank the Lord) but we allowed the flu test. The tech came in to administer the flu test and then said it would be a couple of minutes. After 1 hour and 15 min I asked my husband to please check at the nurses station for the test and he came back saying the nurse was "working on it". No one came to check on us or tell us if we were next to have our test results done. I understand the healthcare system is very overloaded and I appreciate/respect all doctors, nurses, and medical professionals. However, we ended up waiting in that exam room for 2 hours without anyone coming to speak with us about my test. When I asked another nurse to please check I told her that they had my name wrong in the system so it could be my maiden name or my married name. The doctor came back into the room and responded "oh it's you." And darted back to find my test results. It ended up being that my results were just laying in a pile and no one had come to check on us. The doctor came back and said my flu test was negative but she did not recommend I have a covid test taken. We left very upset and went to another office called urgent MD and was treated within 30 min of being there and was out by another 20 min. It turns out I am positive for the covid virus. The bottom line is I trusted that doctor at this office to make a diagnosis and to help me get well. But because of miscommunication and no follow up I could have infected hundreds of people at my job, grocery store, and etc. The doctor was somewhat apologetic like I said but I feel as though I was not treated correctly because I did not have severe symptoms. However without proper treatment I could have really developed bad symptoms and also infected many people.

I feel pretty darn good about my experience here for the past 6, yes count 'em 6 months of…read moretreatment here. My whole life has basically revolved around the 5th and 7th floors during my pregnancy so this review is a long time coming. Let me first say, this is an old hospital. It's a building that just kept getting added onto another building that connects to other buildings and the levels can get a little confusing. "This elevator only goes up to 5 and I have to take 2 rights and a left to find a secret passageway that'll take me to the gate keeper of the 7th floor?" When you're in a hurry and you feel a panic attack coming on, you don't feel like taking a moment to relax and read the map. My advice to you? Ask for help if you're lost 'cause if you have to go to any part of the building that's "West" it can get a tiny bit confusing. I had a high risk pregnancy and still continue to come to MCG for aftercare for both me and my child everyday so it really felt like I lived here. My nurses on the 7th L&D and 5th floor NICU are awesome and take the time to explain every little thing that was going on to me which eased my mind and earned my trust. They all went out of their way to check in on me, look into extra ways of accommodating me, and keep me in the loop about my daughters care every step of the way. I appreciate the children's ER here. I'm surprised how many kids show up past midnight for various ailments and it's so nice to have an area just for them. Being at the hospital is no fun but an area devoted to kids with children's programming, bright colors, books and toys ease the anxiety just a little. 63/2014

I think people need to understand that you should only go to the ER if it's a true emergency and those with negative reviews were probably not urgent needs and could've waited to be seen at a prompt care facility.

We started a very long day at the other local ER before they transferred us to the Children's Hospital for my son's injured arm. We arrived here around 1:30 or 2pm on a Sunday so we figured it would probably be busy but didn't really have any other options since non-pediatric ERs don't have the right setup or expertise for dealing with young kids. The waiting room for the children's ER was honestly horrible. There were parts of the ceiling not fully in place and half the lights seemed to be out, or it's just incredibly poorly lit. It also didn't really appear that they clean or sanitize the waiting room much(if ever); we saw zero cleaners come through during our 6 hour stay. The wait itself was not great, we waited an hour or more to get an X-ray, then an hour or more to get put in a room, then at least two hours before the doctor came back with a diagnosis and treatment. Lots of waiting, mostly in that awful waiting room, but I will say the staff both at ER check in and the nurses and doctors and x-Ray techs were all very kind and helpful and professional. I think it was just the way an ER is on a Sunday- busy and a little overwhelmed. The bathrooms are shared with the regular ER at Wellstar MCG and were nasty nasty. I was glad my son was at least in diapers and didn't have to deal with that. I wish they'd sanitize the waiting room. We all ended up with a nasty bout of Norovirus after the visits so bring extra soap and hand sanitizer and activities for young kids that involve minimal touching of surfaces.

My niece was the only one that had to get admitted, and it was scary, but we prayed, and God blessed us with amazing doctors and nurses and wouldn't go anywhere else. I recommend bringing your kids here.
