I had a unique experience of frostbite before I left on a trip to Macon, GA from Cincinnati. We had -15 degree weather and I was taking our trash and recyclables and slipped on ice. I grabbed the aluminum bar with bare hands to pull up but my shoulder was hurting and held on too long. I had a business trip to Macon as a Global Market Manager and went on the trip. I noticed in Atlanta my fingers were very swollen and turning purple. I knew I had to go to the emergency room or things could get worse. I went to Atrium in Warmers Robbins and they told me I need to go to Doctors in Augusta. They set everything up and I arrived and had surgery the next day by Dr. Homesombath. The nurses and care was beyond excellent. Dr. Homesombath save my fingers. They are beautiful now. I am a guitar player and needed my fingers. Thank you to everyone for such beautiful care. This place is terrible. Currently waiting for tje bed alarm to be turned off and its been over 30 minutes. I asked for assistance to get up to use the restroom, coold no longer wait. Got up and was in the bathroom for at least 15 minutes. Alarm still going off and no one helped me! I called the nurse's station again to ask for someone to turn it off ans they still haven't come. They need to hire more help. Haven't seen a cna or nurse in over 3 hours. My family has helped me as much as they could today but they had to leave. Care is terrible. I can hear the staff at the nurses station laughing and yet thr bed alarm is still going off. I feel sorry for the people who can't talk or have no family. Skin issues have to be a problem here and getting any type of assistance seems impossible read more

Nurses sit up here don't get nothing done. They be at the nurse station just talking and yapping. When I do call for help on the red button and I'm in pain, it takes them an hour or hour and 30 minutes or even two hours to come in my room. Communication is terrible at this hospital between the nurses. Nurses are just here to get by through the day. I don't think these nurses actually care about patients or what they need my experience here been terrible. read more

I recently had an ER visit for excruciating pain in the knee. Things started out OK, but steadily went downhill. I was triaged in the waiting room by physician. he was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. We talked about being on blood thinners for history of blood clots. He decided to order a Doppler study to rule out any blood clots. It wasn't Long before a radiologist technologist come to take me to the back to do an x-ray. She was exceptional doing everything she could to obtain x-ray safely while trying to prevent as much pain as possible. Once returned to the waiting room, the vascular technician brought me to the back to do a Doppler study. She too gave exceptional care. Upon seeing excruciating pain I was in with any type of movement, she took it upon herself to call the ER and try to get me in a bed. I was transferred to ER . This is where the exceptional care ended. My family remain in the waiting room and was told she Would be allowed to come back a little later. I assumed I would be getting something for pain As this is what I was told during triage. The staff was not interested in going over my meds, and I was left on the stretcher in the little cubicle call light was hung on the wall curtains are drawn for privacy. I finally text my sister and told her she should come on back. with my sister arriving to the back, I asked her to find the nurses called light. I requested something for pain. The pain medication never arrived. My sister went to the nurses station and requested pain medication for me. She was informed you have to ask her nurse. Long story short, the nurse she spoke to was indeed my nurse.The physician arrived later to discuss results and again promised pain med. Upon discharge, I was giving pain medication prior to leaving along with prescriptions. A young lady arrived with a wheelchair that had no foot rest or brakes. I had to keep reminding her that to move my leg. It had to be done very slowly. I was brought to the ER exit and my sister went to get the car and I was told just leave the wheelchair here. prescriptions were filled and medication was taken as directed. The medication seem to be helping unfortunately the one I received at the hospital and one of the prescriptions for home were contraindicated due to my being on blood thinners. End result I had to go to another emergency room several days later Because I was bleeding. I truly expected better care! read more

If I could give this ER a 0, I would. I brought my mother into the ER, and while the triage team was great (super friendly, put her at ease, etc...), once she got to an actual bay it went downhill. The nurse assigned to her only came over once to draw more labs. It wasn't until Sherell came and asked if we were good. I told her no, and she made sure to come and let me know the doctor was almost done with another patient. The doctor was great, explained everything.... read more

I arrived at the emergency room at 6 o'clock with a swollen foot from a fall. I was in excruciating pain.i had to wait because the ER was full. The nurse who took my vitals was very professional and understanding to my situation. I had a fever and my high blood pressure. she was compassionate about it. and then I was taken to x-rays. no medicine given ! I am crying in pain being pulled around on a bed! The x-ray technician actually says she was going to be mean. and after they found out I didn't have health insurance. I was put in a corner and forgotten about. I asked for something to drink and they were rude. The nurses were not professional at all. They did not address me. They did not tell me that they were my physicianand I got really upset and loud and was sent home with ibuprofen and basically kicked out the door. They did nothing else to help me. My husband was admitted to the emergency department on Sunday afternoon with an infected feeding tube site. He died the next Saturday in icu of respiratory failure. He spent 2 DAYS in a chaotic, unclean, environment with little done to address his problem in the ER. Meanwhile, the infection spread, he became septic, and had to be put on 100% oxygen to breathe. I was told that his only option was a ventilator for the rest of his life. His advanced directive denied that course of action, so the family gathered as this most wonderful man left this life too soon. Had he NOT languished in that ER. Had his original problem been addressed in a timely manner. Had ANYONE in that ER taken a moment to treat him, he'd still be here, enjoying his grands, great grands, the lake, and his wife of 48 years. read more

The Women's Diagnostic Center is top notch. Everyone I interacted with has a great attitude. They seemed to understand their individual jobs. I have had to stay in Doctors Wound and Burn center 3 times now, and I can honestly say, with the exception of a few grumpy nurses, the care is phenomenal! I was humiliated, embarrassed, and offended before my endoscopy procedure by the nurse and anesthesiologist Bara because my H&P was not accurate. I tried to answer their questions to the best of my knowledge while they made sarcastic comments like "she doesn't know her history...I guess you don't have kidney disease either...if you don't have heart disease why are you taking metoprolol?..." Bara kept antagonizing me like she wanted an argument at 0740. She didn't change her tune until I showed her messages from my cardiologist, my PCP, and labs taken Monday. It was terrible patient service and I don't plan on ever going back to the facility, even if it was a matter of life and death. my daughter was airlifted from Columbia Pamama Hospital to doctors hospital ICU burn unit for my accident with her mother who died in the accident. My daughter came in June 6 around 4:30 76% of body burnt from head to toe having amputated leg on the left leg amputated toes on the right foot and amputated fingers on the right hand there's inmates that works at the hospital on July 5. I saw a inmate getting something out of my daughters room trash I'm assuming, but kept on watching my daughter who is nude because skin drafting, the nurse Dawn was there in Dawn on her phone because I asked the nurse to pull the curtains back for my daughter not to be seen. She gets attitude and tells me not to tell her how to run her job. I and on evening of the 830 visitation about it, Kathy and I was told that I could not see that evening. I the next morning to try to see my daughter and was told that I could not come. I talk to the Dr. Shawn Fagan chief and Howard Merry , Coo Compliance officer also spoke with Miss Ansley Monica, who is charge nurse because of me reaching out to the team I was told that I cannot visit my daughter I could not get my FMLA paperwork filled out so their team have gotten mad because I wanted to move my daughter because of this incident someone tell me what do I need to do? My son was admitted for an infection in his foot after wound care treatment for a couple of months. He was given antibiotics through an iv for a couple of days then sent home. A day later he had infection showing up on the top of his foot. A picture was sent to the Dr ant they said it was ok. The next day he was back to the hospital for treatment and they had to amputate his pinky toe. Here we sit a few days later waiting to be taken to surgery to amputate more toes. The surgery department said the would be up shortly to get him. That was three hours ago. I asked the nurse when they were coming to get him and she said they never knew when surgery department was coming. An hour and a half later I went to the nurses station to find out when they were co.ing to get him and they said they didn't know. There were 5 people at that station and not one bothered to make a call. I told them I thought that the surgery department was the most inconsiderate for not keeping the family informed. They said someone from the surgery team would be in to talk to us. That was an hour and a half ago and still no word from anyone. A simple phone call would go a long way. Maybe Doctors Hospital needs to update their phone system or train their staff how to use it. read more

I primarily came here to deliver my baby. I can't say I loved my experience. My actual labor and delivery nurse wasn't my favorite and she disappeared once my baby was out. In her place, two other labor and delivery nurses came to help me recover and get situated to head over to the postpartum unit and they were absolutely wonderful. I wish they instead had been my intake nurse. My postpartum nurses left a lot to be desired. I only liked one out of the several nurses who came by. Most were dismissive and rude, and I felt like I had nobody in my corner when it came to certain issues. I was forced to stay another night because of the pediatrician even though my OB said I was cleared and there was no real concern with my baby. There was no complication with my baby at all, but due to the time she was born and the pediatrician being "old school" we had to stay. Nobody helped advocate for me and my baby to leave which is frustrating when you have other kids at home. The whole experience left a lot to be desired here. read more

I dislocated my shoulder popped it back it my self and I went to doctors hospital told them as to what happened to me and they left me sitting in the lobby for 6 hours than finally put me in a sling than gave me ibuprofen said I didn't dislocated it that they could have seen that I may have Torn my rotator cuff gave me a referral to a orthopedic doctor I went to the next day the dr said I did in fact dislocate it that night and I actually did it again while I was sleeping because I didn't pop it back in properly. Er staff was wonderful why I'm giving this place a star at all, after I was in the Er for 1 1/2 days they moved to the 5th floor. The nurses are to busy socializing at the nurses station, no one one the 5th floor can start a iv. I have blown veins all over both of my arms, and I needed the iv in to receive my antibiotics and pain medication and also medication for nausea, I didn't receive my iv fluids either for 2days because theykept tell the was waiting on a vein finder, they kept on turning off my call light and never came to my room, i had to Google the hospital phone number and call them 3 times @10pm after the nurse informed me that the vein finder people done went home, after 3rd time call hospital management someone finally came a started a iv for me. But im emxemly up set that thosr nurses repeatedly kept on turning off the call light without even coming to my room, next morning nurse walks in say dr is discharging you , so i ask could she bring me a towel so i was up and get my stuff ready to go, she said no that they had someone waiting with a wheelchair to take you down stairs. But 8 refused to leave until i see the doctor he should have came to tell me he wss going to send me home and made sure that i had a pain management in place, he was trying to send me home in severe pain without proper medication, this hospital dose care about people who have autoimmune disease. I went to the ER on 4/5/25 because I was feeling bad and this was after a trip to med/now a week before and also a visit with my PC Dr which both sent me home with the standard zpac, steroids,nose spray. After being checked at ER...they sent me home saying I had slight bronchitis. I returned home and started getting progressively worse. I returned to ER two days later by ambulance. They examined me again and kept me 24 hours in a 8×8 hole with a broken bed. They did blood work...urine sample along with ct/body scan. When results came back I had a UTI and fistula between my bladder and large intestine. When the Dr came thru and said I would have to have a surgery and that a surgical team would be in to see me...which never happened. Meanwhile the nurse came in that morning to give a shot(bloodthinner) as she said its was protocol for anyone being admitted which I thought was strange. Later that morning another Doctor came in to explain about what was going on. He said he would give me MORE antibiotics and treat it this why. Also one of the Hospital Administrators came to my holding cell and apologized for taking so long to move me to a room. So they were admitting me initially to have this surgery and then the Doctor sent me home. In still confused by all of this and my condition is getting worse by the day. Honestly, this facility needs to be investigated. My husband came in late Wednesday night with chest pain. He was told he would ne admitted and there were no beds available but he was being kept in a small ER room. We were there from 12 am Thursday morning until 4:00 Thursday evening we asked to be discharged because he sat there a while day no shower, they gave him insulin without no food and then told us they had people who have been there for 3 days waiting for a bed so my question is how are these people showering? It's so much more that I saw but I will save it for OSHA and DHEC Monday morning and another thing when we were leaving my husband told the nurse I would stay and continue care but I can't imagine being in this small room for another day she told him ib front of other staff "OH we don't care" and I have a witness who I was on FaceTime with. Long post but PLEASE READ!!! This place was AWFUL! I have no idea how they are still in business. My husband and I were traveling and had to stop at the emergency room because i kept passing in and out. We get there, the lady's at the front desk seemed bothered i was there. They brought me to a room, had me wait outside while the nurse hurriedly cleaned the room from someone before me, took a clorox wipe and wiped the floor with her foot, took the sheets off the bed, didn't clean anything, and laid a blanket over the bed. I asked to use the restroom, as i had been traveling and had to pee, she said no to wait. I wait in the room for 25 minutes before i finally got up MYSELF and found a bathroom. As i'm walking out the bathroom, the doctor, his name started with a B, was also bothered that i used the restroom when i couldn't even sit down because my bladder was so full. He hands me a urine cup, and rolls his eyes. We go back to the room i was in and he was asking what was going on, so i was telling him, in which he had NO clue as of what i was saying. I was correcting him on his terminology and medical facts. It seemed as if I was talking to an 8 year old playing doctor. He leaves and the nurse comes in to take my blood, she took 4 tubs of my blood, LAUGHED in my face when i said i had a past with passing out from getting blood. She was making fun of me for that. She left one tube in the room, laid on the counter and told me she took too many and just left it there. My husband pointed out the blood stains under the bed that appeared as if it was never cleaned up to begin with, there was blood spots all over the sheet i was laying on, and not from me. My husband stepped outside and the doctor came back in to do an EKG, (I have a history with heart problems) he hooked me to the machine and walked out, came back about 5 minutes later and i told him i had to use the bathroom because i went beforehand and they wanted a urine sample, that took maybe 2 minutes. I come back to the room, i was left alone for 45 minutes. Heart problems and all, not even hooked up to a machine for them to keep track or watch. I never received a wrist band with my information, so while i'm in the room they were printing me one. When my two nurses were in the room with me, one was on her phone sending text messages and laughing at her phone, then a third nurse comes in and is talking bad about another patient and making fun of them to my two nurses, while i'm laying in the bed in front of them. They were a complete joke. Between the blood stains, unsanitary room, rude doctor and nurses, being left alone, being left unattended, being left unhooked from any monitors and having them talk bad about another patient, i was DONE with this place. I refused an unnecessary IV fluid as i was feeling fine, and the doctor made it a BIG problem when him and I both knew it was unnecessary, they just wanted me to pay more. i will NEVER go here again. It seemed as if they got their degrees from craigslist. Don't come here if you're actually having an emergency, nothing will get done on time. A 1 hour process turned into 4 hours. read more

Doctors hospital of Augusta went good to being horrible in the last 3 years. My severl idmsdiagnosis, my 6 & 7 years old kids misdiagnossis leading to wrong medications and the last wait in ER experiences adds to the TERRIBLNESS of this healthcare facility. Below is my most recent experince from August 2024: I was in sever kidney stone pain, screaming (although I am known to be pain tolerant). A logical healthcare mind would have calculated different patients' issues and cared based on severity of needs (although I was not more special than any other patient). I was there for four hours screaming for help and each time, I heard, "We will be with you soon". I had lots of pain piles in the car to reduce my pain, but because of the pain, I was continually vomiting and could not hold the medication (to include Prometh., Ondanset., Dicleg.,...) to stop vomiting, so that my Oxy., Hydro, others could actually reduce my pain while waiting my turn. I shared that with Hospital's team and was seeking solution (since I could not think straight). I begged for help to reduce the pain while I had no problem waiting until my turn in the crowded (short staffed) ER. If someone could have helped me with a solution to stop the vomiting, I would have taken my own pain medication while waiting my turn. I do not really know what happened to the Doctor's Hospital that I have known since 1993. Last three years of visit for myself or my kids have been HORRIBLE. This last experience has changed my mind. I WILL NEVER AGAIN VISIT Doctor's hospital. Your staff were HEARTLESS. I was at the mercy of the hospital with sever intolerable pain. I could not be choosy in the event that I would be dragged on longer. Registration team (same person as the night before) already had my information. Yet, she had to take the same Infor AGAIN. That means you guys are disfranchised, disorganized, and disoriented. OH, by the way, the night before I left after waiting for three hours and when my pain subsided, for me to take medication, I left -realizing that I would be sitting there for AT LEAST another 2-3 hours (number of patients still ahead of me). read more

I gave birth to my second child here and it was okay, some of the nurses were really nice and understanding but i felt really rushed to give birth. I arrived there around 9:30ish on May 31st and they had me in a room waiting till 4am before I got admitted into the hospital. They broke my water at 8am and kept pushing me to get my cervix checked and each time they checked it, they were forcing their fingers up really really hard and rough and it was very painful and they wouldn't stop pressuring me to get checked every 30 minutes and i kept saying no. I felt like they were also rushing my labor to get me out of there but every time i asked to get discharged after feeling completely fine, they wouldn't let me out. I had to wait 3 days to finally get discharged. read more

This hospital once was the best in Augusta. Now it is horrible and basically a death sentence. The 5th floor is a joke and could have possibly saved my mothers life if they just went to check on her after my dad went to the front desk to ask for a nurse three different times Apparently the nurse was speaking to her orthopedic surgeon Dr David Gallagher. He should have made sure that the nurse he was speaking with at least went into her room to check her vitals and to see What my father meant when he said she was gurgling and struggling to breathe. After 45 min no nurse came into check in on her and when Dr Gallagher came to see her he noticed the gurgling and then coded. After 10 min of CPR just chest compressions and meds they had brought her back but at what expense?! her body was in toxic shock and began to shut down. The ICU doctor and nurses were very straight forward and told is exactly how her body was shutting down even on dialysis and medication to keep her body at rest. After a week of constant contact with the ICU director and nurses we finally were able to speak with a lady Lindsay Sikes and there is an internal investigation. it has been 2 weeks since she passed and still we have no answers. read more

I experienced Doctor's hospital as a family member while my Mom had cervical spinal fusion surgery. We were looking forward to the valet parking but she had an early time slot so it was not open when we arrived. On a positive note, the parking lot was fairly empty! Check-in was a breeze and the front desk employee was kind, informative, and made us feel welcomed. The waiting room was comfortable and the staff were kind and accommodating. While she was transitioning from one status to the next I could keep track of her whereabouts on a computer screen prominently displayed in the lobby. When she was in recovery I received timely updates from the waiting room staff until I was able to go back and be with her. It was an overall good experience. read more

Dr Wilkie and her PA John Martin are rude disrespectful and fail to listen to patients. John Martin obviously was not trained on hippa as he tried to review in the fast track waiting area instead of taking the patient to a private area so everyone one can't hear. Patient had to request to go to a private area at which time John Martin sighed loudly. When asked to speak to her supervisor Dr Wilkie stated: "i am a contract employee i dont have a supervisor!". While her PA John Martin likes to be verbally aggressive n disrespectful to female patients. He is tall n stood over a seated female patient aggressively pointing his finger in her face. He also wears his ID badge backwards so you cant see his name. Neither Dr Wilkie NOR her PA John Martin should be working with the public as they lack basic listening and communication skills and respect for sick people read more

About to lose my mind!!! I am writing this as I am sitting in the ER waiting room with my daughter who is in extreme abdominal pain. When we first arrived at exactly 6:32 PM she was asked to take a Urine sample as she did. She finally was able to go back to get blood drawn around 10:30. At 12:00 they called her back - finally she is going back, or so we thought. Nope they called her back for blood to be drawn when she told them she already did give blood they said "oops we need a urine sample from you". THEY LOST THE URINE SAMPLE!!!! So here we are now SIX hours later waiting for my daughter to drink enough water while he stomach is convulsing so they can get yet another urine sample. UNBELIEVABLE!!! read more

I went in to have an ultrasound done. The VA set it up. The lady behind the desk was very busy, but she was very kind and she knew her job. I was in and out of there and less than 20 minutes maybe. Actually I was out of there right about the time my appointment was. Can't say anything about the rest of the hospital, but they treated me right there. read more

My only experience with Doctors Hospital was with the records office, and labor and delivery/maternity ward, but the whole experience from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was an incredibly pleasant one for a hospital visit! All of the staff that my husband and I were helped out by was absolutely fantastic. They answered each and every question we had when it came to my procedure and eased all of my concerns with their positive attitudes and reassurance. Even with the presence of Covid-19 and a pandemic still continuing, the staff did an excellent job of not making us feel absolutely constricted at such a joyous occasion while simultaneously keeping our safety and health a number one priority. A huge bonus for me is also that the hospital has a Starbucks by the main entrance on the first floor so I was able to get my caffeine fill through my whole stay! Truly the most incredible and friendly experience from any hospital we have been to while living in Georgia! read more

I strongly recommend that unless you have a broken bone or are actively dying, you steer clear of this ER. On the positive side: the staff in the ER was kind and considerate,, as were the individuals who did my X-rays, ultrasound, and bloodwork. However. I stated at admission that while I did have a single swollen foot and ankle my primary concern was extreme dizziness/lightheadedness, loss of coordination, and blurry vision. At no point after that did anyone ask me about those symptoms, or about any medications I was taking, although I had also stated that I was on various medications. They remained totally focused on a possible dvt/blood clot, and successfully ruled that out. At that point a PA came in and told me that I was fine! All my tests were great, nothing wrong with me, I could go home. Both my husband and I said but! Dizziness! Blurred vision! Uncoordinated! These are affecting me to the point that I can't drive, I can't work around the house or do normal daily activities. I fall. He shrugged, said there was nothing wrong with me, and I was released. No referrals or follow ups. Payment coordinator thataway. I came home horribly depressed and embarrassed. I went to the Doctors ER for help and was essentially told I was a hypochondriac. Three days later my sister asked, didn't you just go on some new meds a week ago? Yeahhhh ... I looked them up Just now. Sure enough, the second one had as side effects dizziness, loss of coordination, blurred or double vision. One question, Doctors. One. And not only that, one fairly crucial question I would think. What medications are you on. You could have taken me off it, referred me to someone for a substitute, and made me feel like I was a genuine patient and not a hypochondriac just taking up your time. Maybe, dare I say, even offered some alternative suggestions about my ankle instead of just saying nothing is wrong with me? That would have been nice too. read more

Was transferred here from a hospital in SC for treatment. Beginning of my stay was pretty good. However, the meds I require, that were supposed to be ordered at 10 am were forgotten to be ordered. I am so upset because the progress I was making has been halted and now I am regressing. The nurse is very nonchalant and isn't very helpful because I've complained about it. Covid and the no visitor policy has kept anyone from advocating for me. I hope other patients are getting the care they need. Been put in hallway and bed was hit by bryan and didn't say anything. Had to chase down nurses to get bed change sitting in urine for over 2 hours. Had to wait for over 6 hours asked nurses when transport was coming and never told when.Will not recommend this hospital to anyone. Doctors is acting likr AU hospital. read more

My visit was Rocky at first because of 2 childish nurses who wouldn't even respond to me or my questions, but then GOD sent an angel in the form of nurse and her name was Michelle,she made me feel really comfortable and helped me through all the pain that I was going through. Trauma The Trauma Dr. Avery and Dr. Pell ford was outstanding. Nurses on 2nd floor were wonderful; until that Wednesday- Nurse Sarah, came in the room, had a military nurse student take out my IV, didn't examine what was going on drop papers on my bed, and said you're been discharged, I hadn't seen a doctor no one told me that night before that I was being discharged, hadn't seen a social worker or a NP. Nurse Sarah stated well at some point someone talked to me about discharging, I said no ma'am, I told her that I would be able to leave by 12noon, this lady told me that I had to set in some room, that I had to go! I feel that all this came about because they thought I didn't have medical insurance. I hope this isn't how they treat patients that don't have insurance. This is sad! I will never go back to this hospital. I had medical insurance, a new company. I hope that Nurse Sarah family members are treated that way. If we just treat people the way we want to be treated! A few months ago the hospital I go to recommended to go to this hospital for a Gastro appointment as I have stomach issues and when I entered the room I was in pain but the Gastro doctor was kind. But when I was told to lay down my stomach pain started to become severe so I had to use the bathroom. So when I went the bathroom smelled terrible which I expected because it's a Gastro office. So later I had to get a blood test too which the doctor was kind too. So I'm kind of traumatized of blood draws but the doctor that was doing it helped me calm down. But for my experience if I was able to do half stars it would be four in a half. read more

I was supposed to get a 20% discount for paying for my 2nd mammogram at the time of service and it was never offered. Ok, it was busy and when I had to go back the some women tried to take care of it but couldn't and told me to call the business office. Called and talked to 2 different reps in billing. Both very nice. 1st told me to check in 2 to 3 weeks to see if the $52 had been taken off my account. So I did. It was there. I called back and talked to another rep. Again, very nice. I paid my balance except the $52. She told me to wait a month. Both reps out notes and explained the situation. A month later I call because it's still there. The send me to the business dept. the woman I talked to was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I finally asked for a manager. She sent me to a voice mail. My call was never returned. read more
