Horrible service at the ICU. They don't feed you in time- why I mention this; dinner 1700 & bfast almost 9am (15freaking hours) (when cafeteria opens for service 0700) This is a big deal to diabetics & to offset the starvation & off the chart blood sugar readings; the lead nurse and her team kept giving me insulin- I'm not insulin dependent. They don't know how to treat a combat veteran. They were supposed to inform the VA there's a patient in their care; this never happened. I came in with a heart attack & checked myself out the next day because of crap care. Made the mistake of going back there because I needed my medicine to prevent another heart attack (they implanted 2 stents for my heart); these idiots at the ICU tell me I have to go to the ER & wait there a few hours if I want my medicine. Whatever transpired might be legally ok but extremely unethical. These nurses & doctors forget why they joined the profession; it's all about the money now & sub par service that we get to enjoy. Don't go here, you're better off at AU or Piedmont. Doctors hospital has a 2.0 review, that in itself speaks volumes & tells me I'm not the only one who's suffered. I've left a message for their VP of Quality care- let's see if she even responds to me. read more

I had the worst emergency room experience of my life here on Sunday, September 11, 2022 and will take every action necessary to make the public aware of what I and others endured at this facilty. It should be shut down by regulators, but they will never do that because this country is run by corporate interests, who pay the fines as if they are a mere slap on the wrist. Instead of improving their patient care standards they consider fines a "cost of doing business" while they display plaitudes in their lobby about how conscientious they are, while leaving patients in their care to suffer for hours on end without treatment because they wonay the cost to properly staff their facility at levels where the place is functional. They were fined $180,000 in 2019 for a "patient dumping" incident and for an incident where the intake staff tried to get payment out of a destitute patient prior to her entering for treatment. The patient left and went to another hospital. Also, American Interstate Insurance Company filed suit against the hospital in July 2022, claiming exhorbitant billing for a workers comp claim for two workers from SC.that were treated there: GA Southern Dist.1:22-cv-00083. I arrived at approximately 5:45 AM on Sunday morning; I had taken my temperature at home and was running almost a 102 fever, was having heartbeat irregulaties, and had been exposed to COVID. I was not instructed by the staff to sit away from others in the lobby, I did so on my own. The lobby was dirty. It was obvious the seats had not been wiped down. I saw items left behind like a drink bottle, used tissues and paper towels on chairs, and discarded facial masks. The only masks they had for patients were flimsy surgical masks, that don't properly fit the face, have gaps, and are of porous material. They do little but protect against expelled sputum. In close proximity, the virus can still be transmitted. I had worn my N95 mask to the ER that morning, because I knew what I likely had. I spent the next hour and a half waiting to go up to the treatment area, and havng to vomit in an adjacent bathroom, that obviously had not been routinely cleaned either. At one point I barely made it to the toilet and had to barf in a bowl filled with feces to avoid soiling my clothing or the bathroom floor. When I emerged upset and nauseated and passed the front desk, I nearly passed out and had to cling to the side of the desk. I said, "I'm sorry, I am not feeling well." The receptionist yelled at me, "Then go sit down!" as if I was a piece of human refuse. Nobody offered to help me back to my seat. I had falled in my home in mid-July and was terrified I would pass out and injure myself. They could not have cared less about my well-being. I was just a number. I was taken to the treatment area and was made to sit for well over an hour before I was PCR-tested. I asked when I would get the EKG that I was promised by the lobby intake nurse. I was told, oh yeah, we will get to that. They never did. I sat there in the lobby for over six hours altogether waiting to be seen by a doctor, with my symptoms getting progressively worse. I was vomiting every 10-15 minutes. The bathroom became progressively dirtier during the course of my being there, as no-one was tasked to clean it. This included the feminine hygeine receptical overflowing and by the end, someone had put paper towels into the toilet bowl. They forgot to get my urine sample until I had been there 5 hours. I passed out in the lobby at about the 6th hour, in a recliner chair, and then was told they were looking for me but couldn't find me, when I had been asking repeatedly when I would be seen. They should have known who I was by then. They just couldn't be bothered to move the blanket and check my wristband. Unless it had happened prior to that when I was barfing, which again, if you have a COVID case repeatedly running to the bathroom, and making noise vomiting and moaning, that should give you an effing clue of where the patient might be. My BP was not checked once during the waiting period, and nobody checked on me, when I was in obvious distress. I am not a young kid, I am 48. Anybody who went in that bathroom was exposed to COVID, given how many times I had been in there, and there several elderly patients waiting to be seen, and a few were being treated with oxygen. One patient sitting adjacent ot the restroom was, and was loudly coughing up sputum into a barf bag every five minutes. For all I know, I could have been exposed to viral pneumonia or TB in that waiting area. They had us packed in with no social distancing, because they had no room for it, and then most of us were there in excess of 7 hours waiting to be seen. I even saw them roughly dump a body onto a gurney, right next to where I was sitting, and roll it down the hall with no haste, and then we heard them call a Code Blue, which I believe was hers. They didn't bother to cover her, and it disturbed everyone waiting there. read more

In August of 2023, my nephew was admitted to Doctor's Hospital with a collapsed lung. During his time at the hospital, his care team, Ashley Gibson, Samera Qureshi, and Rebecca Duncan were exceptional. They made certain that my nephew was comfortable and well cared for. They each went out of their way to bring us food, drinks, blankets, anything we needed or wanted. They were compassionate, caring, professional, and calming. Samera, Ashley, and Rebecca are truly assets to Doctor's Hospital. We are so very grateful for the wonderful care they provided. read more

Waited with my wife who had a ruptured ovarian cyst for over 12 hours in the ER. She never received anything other than a "we'll be right with you" until the 8th hour. Then was worked up and in the 12th hour misdiagnosed (said it must have been a kidney stone and had passed...even though she was still in pain). Learned the next day the correct diagnosis when we went in and saw her Ob/Gyn. I told my wife that if in the future, I were to have an MI, it would be better for me to die on the way to another ER than stop at Doctors. Just don't stop there! read more

The hospital experience was probably the better of the choices in Augusta. Quality care and professional staff. My only issue was not being able to select an in-network anesthesiologist for my insurance coverage. Anesthesia Consultants of Augusta was forced upon me and their business practices are sketchy at best. Doctor's Hospital needs to foster relationships with anesthesiologists that are willing to work with insurance companies. I was deemed medically and capable of working from the California state prison system. I was injured by two inmates. They prescribe me morphine 30 mg three times a day, which did work. We decided to move back to Georgia to take care of my husband's parents. When we got there, I made an appointment and I did everything they asked me to do. I did a full physical and health urinary test everything. They denied me medication, even though I was deemed physically in capable of working and needed that medication for the rest of my life. They refused to give me any medication which forced me to go cold turkey off of the morphine. I now have been dealing with a pulse that was raging at 160. Now for the rest of my life I have to take medication to reduce my pulse because they were too worried about their license than taking care of a innocent patient. I was severely injured by a mass murder. Now I have to have to deal with the side effects from the negligence of this hospital. I'm in constant pain and nobody cares about the horrible pain I live every day. It's to the horrible point that we sold our house in Georgia and lost over $150,00 to return to Id. I've suffered so much that I now have lupus and a tube in my stomach. They need to be accounted for their malpractice. You need a good lawyer read more

This is probably one of the worst companies that I've ever worked for. From their racist remarks, to not starting my position on time, HR never answers the phone and most importantly not getting paid properly. I left my position after a couple of days because of their antiquated devices and terrible treatment of their employees. I was not trained properly whatsoever and it was a complete waste of time. After abruptly leaving, I was reprimanded by being paid only half of the amount of hours that I worked and still have not received any contact as to how I will be paid what I'm owed. I would never come back here even as a patient. Beware. This place is so ATROCIOUS that I have to leave another review. It is August 5th and I STILL have not received any payment. I am completing disgusted from this hospital and I will NOT stop reporting their behaviors anywhere that I can. read more

Just when you think it can't get any better, here comes Doctors Hospital again. When Danny was discharged he'd had 3 Rx that had already been called in to Walgreens's on Washington Road and they were waiting on me. One was for Zofran for sickness. There were 14 pills to take 1 every 8 hours. When he had to go to Dr Patick at HIMG Thursday Danny asked if he could write him aim another one but for 2 bc Humanna will only pay for that. Danny called Dr Patick again on Friday asking why it hasn't been called in. He was off that afternoon. So HIMG couldn't get a Rx called in but a hospital 8.5 hours away seemed to make it happen. I'm so sick of HIMG. Thank you again Doctors Hopital. If I need to be hospitalized I'm coming to your facility!!! read more

I was taken here twice. Once when I was visiting and many years later after moved here. The first time I had a severe headache. I am allergic to aspirin or anything that has an aspirin derivative. Instead of giving me Tylenol or something else they tried to give me Ibuprofen when I refused to take it and reminded them of my allergy they came back with advil. Once again I reminded them of my allergy and refused. At that point I was given an argument about refusing to take what they were trying to give me. I told them they needed to read the ingredients and at the very least give me some Tylenol. Then I was accused of trying to get drugs. Several people came in as well as a psychiatrist. I explained to each person that I would stop breathing if I took aspirin. After I spoke with the psychiatrist I called my doctor and put them on the phone together. After speaking with my doctor she verified it to the nurse that I was telling them the truth!!! So then the nurse comes back in, gave me an injection turned off the light and closed the door. Within less than 15 minutes I started to have trouble breathing. I searched for the call bell which was no where to be found. I started banging on the rails and the wall. The same nurse came in yelling at me to stop making noise. She turned on the lights and I saw the call bell disconnected from the wall and on the counter. She plugged it back in and then called for help because I was having trouble breathing. I spoke with the administrator of the hospital who apologized profusely and said the nurse would be terminated immediately. I signed myself out. I can't tell you all of the dirty looks I got on my way because they knew they were going to have to answer for allowing their coworker to do what she did. Fast forward to a few years ago. I fell and couldn't walk. The ambulance took me to doctors hospital because the other hospitals were overflowing. Well guess who walks in the room??? Same nurse!!! I never forget a face. After the X-ray she comes in and tells me to go home and put my leg up that nothing was broken. I told I wanted to speak with an orthopedic doctor and she said there wasn't anyone on call. Once again an argument ensued. I asked her if I couldn't stand up how could she expect me walk out? Her smart mouth reply was we'll wheel you outside and then it would be my problem. I was livid and called the hospital administrator. It was the same person who told me previously that nurse ratchet was terminated. I told him that I know my rights and the hospital's legal obligations. I informed him that nurse ratchet had given me an opioid and then wanted me to get discharged. At this point I still hadn't seen an orthopedic doctor or any doctor for that matter. Long story short I had. Torn the muscle in my upper arm and when it would spasm I would cry out in pain. Some PA decided instead of calling the orthopedic team he would call the psychiatric team. What is up with this hospital always calling a psychiatrist to evaluate the patient? I know other people who have had the same experience. I happen to be a Family and Substance Abuse Therapist and do Christian counseling for marriage and domestic abuse victims for over 20 years!!! An orthopedist NEVER evaluated me!!! If you're not having a heart attack or any life threatening emergency go anywhere but doctors hospital. You do better if you look on line at John Hopkins or the Mayo Clinic website and diagnose/treat yourself!!! read more

Absolutely the worst trip to the hospital I have ever had. I would give them a 0 star if I hadn't just been to the same hospital in February to give birth. It was a completely different situation, but the staff was friendly and professional and the hospital was good. This time I had to go through the ER and that was a nightmare. I walked in at 10:30pm with pain and I didn't get lab work and a CT scan done until midnight. Although I told them I was in extreme pain. I told them it was ranging from a pain level of 8 to 20 any given moment. Yet after I was diagnosed with acute appendicitis it still took them until 3 am to give me an IV with pain medicine. I didn't see the nurse until 2am even though I was placed in the ER room an hour in a half before that. That is after my husband tracked her down she told us there were no rooms in the hospital and they were going to admit me first. We told her we don't understand why that means I can't get an IV with painkillers while we wait for this room. The hospital is packed and according to the phlebotomist they have been this way for months and need more staff to mitigate it. The strain shows because I was told I might get surgery at noon. I came in at 10:30 the night before. Then suddenly at 7am they roll me out of the ER room and tell me I have been bumped ahead of other surgeries, since my appendix can burst and kill me. (They didn't say the last part then I was told that when I was diagnosed earlier) I get to pre opt and this guy comes in and says, "so your getting your gallbladder out, right?" I panic that is not what I have been told all night, I thought I was getting an appendectomy! He then double checks the notes and says all the printed work says that I'm getting my appendix removed, it was only the written note by the previous nurse that says gallbladder surgery. I almost leave but by that time my husband was home taking care of our young kids. So I think to myself if the surgeon doesn't sound like he knows what he is doing, I'm calling my husband and going to a different hospital. The surgeon comes in with great bedside manner and explains everything clearly, and the other pre-op nurse is nice and reassuring and knows exactly what procedure I'm getting done. (By the way I never get a real room) Overall the surgery went well, I am at home still recovering in pain. However I'm much better then I was when I first came to the hospital. Take what you will from this review. I just had to vent!! It might be all hospitals are going through this right now, due to understaffing and sicker patients. read more

We've had an amazing experience here having our second child. He's happy and healthy! And the nurses have been sweet, helpful, and so considerate of my wife and me too. To be honest this experience was leaps and bounds better than having our first child at Augusta University. People there were rude, dismissive and indifferent. And the ones that weren't rude, were brand new doctors right out of college. And bless their hearts but that's scary! Learn with someone else maybe not having their first child. They had to prick my baby girls foot so many times cause no one could do it right. It was traumatizing. Anyway everything here at doctors has been amazing and each and every different person fulfilling their position has been kind. Anesthesiologist, Nurses, Docs, Lactation Consultant, all the way down stairs to the security guards and the one subway work You'll love the very nice rooms for delivery, and post partum. Decent size couch that expands and uses the back cushions to become a bed. read more

I'm very disappointed with Doctors Hospital. I can't even give this Hospital a rating.I checked in at 11: 19 and at 5:13 am, I'm just getting a room. The real disappointment was learned when observing all the patients waiting in the back for a doctor, they only had 1 DOCTOR ON STAFF. THIS IS RIDICULOUS & I'm OUTRAGED. Ms. Angela at the front desk was very helpful and had she took the initiative to do my labs had she not, I would be still waiting. Dr. Easton has great bedside manners thus far, Im only PLEASED with them. The success of this Hospital shouldn't be at the near death or death of others. Patients well-being matters and when there is no compassion for us someone should be held accountable. read more

This review is going to be my MOST straightforward review, no funny business or sarcasm! I'm only doing this review so that others may take from my experience and make the best decision for themselves. I have already completed a survey for the hospital because they absolutely need the feedback given today's current circumstances with coronavirus. I was screened by a security guard who was standing in the vestibule area of the ER, literally being the "gate keeper" on who was allowed in and to ensure a temperature was taken and a mask was on. From there, I was asked to write down my personal information and symptoms, which he hand delivered to the front desk. I didn't love that idea but I was trying to be more understanding and go with the flow. From there, I was told to take a seat which happened to be in the same vestibule with other patients. We had screen partitions in between us but it certainly didn't give me a sense of privacy when asked by an intake nurse what my symptoms were and for more personal information. Also important to note, it took about an hour and a half for the nurse to come and speak with me. I wasn't given updates from anyone about wait times and I got the sense I wasn't supposed to go further into the ER without permission. The other surprising event that occurred while I was waiting included a coronavirus test being done nearby. I can't be 100% certain because of the partitions but It sounded as though she was in the vestibule when the test was done. I felt terrible for her and knew that was probably going to be in my future as well. Moving along, it took nearly two hours to be taken back to be seen. I wasn't alone, they took two of us back at the same time. I was confused...I was more confused when the nurse took us to the same small room where another patient was already waiting. Again, there were partitions between us but no privacy whatsoever. The nurse who took care of all of us was friendly and sweet. She did seem pressed to be efficient and quick, often leaving the room for long periods of time without letting us know when/if she'd be back. I don't begrudge her, I know there is so much more going on behind the scenes but a little more communication would've been so appreciated. Without getting into my personal reasons for the visit, I spent another four and a half hours at the ER. Most of that time was spent waiting for results with little to no communication. In fact, once a result came back the doctor stuck his head in the room and gave me a "thumbs up" sign with a quick assurance everything was normal. I had another nurse discharge me, not sure if there was a shift change or something? I never got to talk with the doctor again and was handed my paperwork and given a script for pain that was a non-issue for me. Meanwhile, the actual thing I came in for was not treated at all and I was told someone would call me to let me know about my coronavirus test in 7-10 days. I've heard, after the fact, other hospitals have a result in 24 hours!! The point is, no one called me. After 8 days, I called the lab which confirmed my results were in and they transferred me to the ER so a doctor could give them to me. Meanwhile, I was on hold and heard a little recording about using the online portal and was able to get my result there before anyone answered the phone. I'm writing this review almost 14 days after the test, no one has called me yet. I know these are unprecedented times, my heart goes out to the medical team who is trying to handle this pandemic to the best of their ability. However, know that you may want to see what their turn around is for Coronavirus test results before having it done there. read more

This is horrible hospital my mother in law was there.I don't recommend this hospital to anybody. She wasn't bathed medicine wasn't given to her. When we went to pick her up we were told that she would be dressed she wasn't she was laying in her bed balled up saying she was freezing she was cold and the lady in the room was cold they had 1 blanket on her I went to get blankets for both of them . Also her lunch tray wasn't touched we thought they had just put it in the room it was the lunch tray untouched the new tray had finally arrived for them to switch it they didn't make sure she ate we asked one of the nurses to make sure she was feed because she has Parkinson's and she was too weak to feed herself .I feed her and made sure she had fluids when we got ready to get her dressed she was so weak and she diabetic it's a shame they have staff and some of them really didn't care about her while she was there. read more

Had an appointment for a ultrasound at 9:15 AM, Feb. 18, 2022. Check in was efficient and on time. The ultrasound tech (Lisa) was professional, on time, provided good information and was efficient. Dispassionate, curt, thoughtless and sloppy. Our visit here, from beginning to end (including an obnoxious, mealy-mouthed teabagger-rant from a staff nurse just before surgery) was an utter failure. Before I highlight the nuts and bolts of this experience, I should say I wasn't the actual patron, but rather, an ardent supporter of a pal going under the knife for umbilical-hernia surgery. In my important role, I wanted to be strong for the person going in to have this general-anesthesia procedure. It was no small event, despite being downplayed by the surgeon in the consult beforehand. The universe continued to work its mysterious ways, too, because the House of Representatives passed healthcare reform the day before our visit to Doctors Hospital. President Obama was due to sign the bill the following day. We were sandwiched in between those two events. So... Rule No. 1 of the "first do no harm" mantra: keep your GD political views of this legislation in the nurse's break room. Seriously. As we awaited the actual start of the surgery behind a keeping-room curtain, we had the misfortune of listening to an attending nurse verbally regurgitate Glenn Beck's talking points, at great length, about how healthcare reform is going to cause "armageddon" and that it was "rammed down people's throats" without consultation from all sides. Aside from that point being utter fucking crap, I just simply do NOT want to be distracted from anything other than support for the person I'm with. Period. You, ma'am, are deeply and profoundly inappropriate in your expression of your views - thrown around the hospital common area as if everyone (other nurses, doctors, patients, family, et. al.) agreed with you, or even had the faintest desire to listen. Well, let me break it to you in this public arena: we don't all agree with you. but that SO isn't the point: Keep your GD eyes on your charts and your patients and your schedule and your medicines and shut the hell up about politics. Do you want to change the way the system works? Then do THAT instead of trying to heal people. Period. Co-opting your workplace to espouse political views - ones that directly offend and undermine your place of business - is the height of irresponsibility. And it caused me and my friend a lot of consternation before an important procedure. My suggestion to hospital admin staff is to take this Yelp review (which, btw, will be provided to them) to your next nurses meeting and let them know that festering, vitriolic healthcare diatribes should be left in Congress and have no home in ANY workplace, but especially a hospital. Now, about the actual day. We waited 3.5 hours from admission to surgery wheel-in; the doctor skipped over us in his initial rounds; despite having my contact number, no call was made when surgery was completed; when I returned I got attitude from the receptionist who promptly implied that I was MIA when she called me in the waiting room even though she knew I needed to stop home before returning to the hospital; our discharge care was nonexistent and our instructions looked like they had come from a third-rate, Wichita doc-in-the-box. Before this experience, I was center-left on healthcare reform. Listening to this nurse, though, catapulted me into a rabid, Air America socialist firebrand lefty who will, if any future visits call for it, stay the hell away from the OR at Doctors Hospital. read more

My teenage daughter received emergency care at this facility last week, and the whole experience was positive. The staff treated us like family through the entire process from beginning to end, and every step of the way we were kept informed. Would highly recommend this facility. read more

Don't count on this hospital for anything. It may look nice and clean but that's it. The ER staff is incredibly incompetent. There is so much miscommunication and everyone seems lost and confused. I was given medicine that I wasn't supposed to take. I told the nurse that I wasn't supposed to mix the medicine with what I had previously taken and she said "oh you'll be fine". Then the doctor came in and tried to give me more of what the nurse gave me because he didn't know I had already taken. What a joke of a hospital. The second time I came here they didn't even give me a room or a nurse to check on me. They legit forgot about me. Barely able to breathe or talk and nobody cared. read more

I am very disappointed in Doctors ER. My son was sent there to be admitted through ER. He needed IV fluids. He was very dehydrated as well as needing treatment for ulcers that had been bleeding the week before. I took him and he was there 11 hrs in the waiting room. They took him back long enough to get blood and send him home with a Zofran prescription for his daily vomiting. The nurse said unless you are dying they send you home. He could have been told earlier in the day they weren't going to help him. He didn't even get the fluids he needed. 2 weeks later we decide to go to AUHealth for the same problem. He was so dehydrated he was loosing his vision and almost passing out. With in an hour he is getting fluids (2 bags) a CT scan and they are actually doing something to help him. I understand the Covid issue but come on. It's not rocket science if you have orders from Doctor. 11 hrs of nothing read more

Beware. On December 28, 2019, I took my son to the emergency room of Doctors Hospital. They did see us rather quickly, as a matter of fact we were in and out of the hospital in less than an hour with a Flu diagnosis. However, I was blown away when the bill came in at $2,608.76 (for the doctor and hospital charge). For a simple Flu test! Do they really expect us to return? There's no way we're going back, we'll try the other hospitals before we take that chance again. read more

My husband came to the ER on 9/5/2019 at 9:30pm due to chest pain. We were seen promptly at first and then made to wait in the waiting room for over 5 hours. Four families left without being seen due to the wait. The nurse at the front did nothing to assist a mentally ill woman who wandered around the ER asking those waiting to help her find a place to rest and to get to the bathroom. This woman ended up urinating on herself in the hallway while 2 nurses sat at the front desk sharing stories and pictures on cell phones. She ended up leaving without any assistance. My husband and I sat in the waiting room watching a sick mother of two young children sobbing because of her pain, two people throwing up in bags, and a man with pain in his kidneys moaning. When people walk into the ER, there is a box full of cups and all patients were asked to give a urine sample without further explanation. That seems suspicious to me, as if the hospital is getting urine tests on all patients in order to increase billing revenue. The treatment is unacceptable, and a hospital that boasts about patient care should be far better than this. When we were taken back, Dr Coon was wonderful and supportive. Nurses Glen, Kerrin, and Alison kept my husband in good spirits and made sure he was well taken care of. read more

Visiting Augusta for work and I had an unfortunate incident that took me to the ER. What a blessing these skilled people were. Nurses got me into a room immediately. Dr Webb came in and the work flowed. The teamwork, focus and care delivered by this amazing team brought my heart under control and compassionately they worked to help me understand and recover. If I could give a 0 star I would. Treated my father for pneumonia and "Covid" (negative tests throughout the 6 days). Isolated him. Didn't listen to HIM when he said he had pain and bleeding. Gave him morphine the whole time. Discharged him with oxygen. Thank goodness he lives with me. I had to take him back to the ER (NOT DOCTORS..drove an extra 15 minutes to Eisenhower ) and turned out he had internal bleeding and had to be given 6 pints of blood. They treated him and he doesn't even need oxygen at home. So Doctors got it WRONG and let him go to bleed to death at home. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. And don't bother telling me to talk to a patient advocate. We did. Got the letter in the mail and you guys stand by your medical decisions. read more

My Grandson was just born . I was not aware of the rules for the patient when I arrived I had been there for over 30 minutes when a nurse manager rudely approached me and asked if I had a bracelet. I was not aware I needed one. Then she went on to tell me in a rude way I had to go. I would have took it a little better if she was not so rude. I've had about 5 encounters with Doctors Hospital since moving here about 2 years ago. 1) applied for a Critical Care job there (35+yrs ICU experience) but, didn't get it. Blessing in disguise, as I ended up with a higher paying job soon after. 2) brought my adult daughter (HX brain surgery, seizures, etc) to the ER with C/O ongoing headaches and in need of her normally prescribed meds. Wait-time wasn't too bad, intake was fine, any nurse, tech or NP that we encountered was fine. One particular day shift, young male nurse was Extremely kind. Thankfully, all of her needs were met. 3) another daughter/SIL came to Doctors, via the ER, for emergent female surgery. She said that her care in the ER was good. However, her care post-surgery care was traumatic. I was there, therefore I can attest to what happened once back on the floor, after surgery. Remember, I am a nurse. So, when she was brought back to her room on a stretcher, quite groggy, there were only 2 relatively young, moderately petite employees who were to transfer her back into her bed. My strong son in law and I, both, volunteered to help the two young ladies transfer her into bed. They said "no" and continued to try and get her back by themselves, despite being told that I am a nurse, as well. The transfer sheet wasn't even under her whole body, only her lower half. So, when they quickly jacked the lower half of her body it twisted her surgical site and caused excruciating, and totally unnecessary pain. They were NOT prepared properly for this transfer and should have gotten more help, if they didn't want us to help. THAT really pissed me off! It was reported to the charge nurse, as her husband and I were both livid! 4) recently, I went to the Women's Diagnostic Center for my mammogram. I had a follow-up diagnostic mammogram, and lastly an ultrasound needle-guided biopsy. I believe it consisted of 3 separate appointments. Nonetheless, I can say positively, that from the schedulers, insurance gal Tonya, mammogram techs, ultrasound gal (so smart and genuinely kind) to the top-notched radiologist Dr, and the gal who called and gave me my results, they were ALL wonderful! I would not hesitate for one moment to recommend this part of Doctors Hospital. (5 stars for all of them at the WDC!) read more

I showed up at 9pm with excruciating kidney stone pain. This is my third time and I know I have a stone. It took 3 hours to get to the point of verifying the stone. I begged for pain relief to no avail. The nurse said an anti inflammatory was protocol. I explained pain meds dealt with it last two times. After another hour of intense pain I was given a lanocaine type drug. By 3:30 am I was to overcome with pain to argue. They dismissed me with a dry pain pill and a cup of water while they removed the I. V. that could have cured my pain with one simple shot. I understand opioid fears, but the stone was identified as large and borderline to pass. I am a 69 yr old man with no drug abuse history. I would go anywhere else. read more

Writing this as I sit waiting the the ER for the 6th hour. I got here at 5 AM, checked in, registered, had X-rays done(which I was later told that they were unnecessary due to my issues). I was only finally called back to triage around 8:30 AM after my husband showed his a$$! Was told I would be waiting about 30 more minutes for an ultrasound & here I am almost 2 hours later...still no ultrasound. read more

Worst hospital ever. Several years ago I came here and was misdiagnosed with a cold when I actually had strep throat. That said, I should have stayed away. This place is dirty, disorganized and unprofessional. I heard more confidential patient information than any nonstaff member should ever hear including full names and diagnosis. I waited nearly two hours to be placed in a room. I then sat with a nurse that talked over me when I attempted to describe my symptoms and even sent replied to a text message while I was talking. Still waiting to be treated...this can only get worse.... Update- PA was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. Because of that I'll add another star. read more

Went to ER when fell over small dog while cooking, senior citizen who lives alone, had a horrible hit to forehead and blacked out. Had a drink while cooking. Bleeding profusely and woke up did not know what to do and could not get bleeding to stop... so got in car and drove to Doctor's ER to get stitches. Told doc while being stitched that I had a drink when cooking, he and his rude nurse called GA state patrol and gave me a DUI -- remember I had a concussion (they did not keep me overnight, which is normally done with one) and they shared doctor/patient privilege while in the emergency room. Went thru my purse while I was in for 2 CT scans and took my license and insurance cards without permission. Nurse told me "next time call 911. ! I had a serious had trauma, alone, didn't know what to do! Hospital are supposed to be our safe place to go for help not for judgement !! read more

My mother was admitted to this hospital on March 17th with a broken leg. She had surgery to put pins in her leg. The nurse called me to tell me they gave her water too soon after the surgery and she aspirated they were concerned she would get pneumonia. She got pneumonia and died on March 31st. This is the worst hospital. I have nothing good to say about it. read more

It is my recommendation that even if it's an emergancy and Doctors hospital is the closest, keep driving and go downtown. In the past 5 years, my sister went to Doctor's Er and had to go back 3 times before they admitted her. ( immune disorder with other complications). My daughter in law had to go to Doctor's for a lost extremity and was treated so rudely. They refused to give her pain meds for an extended amount of time because the nurse decided it didn't hurt that bad. The surgery was a botched job and she now has permanent nerve damage. When we asked to speak to the surgeon on her next visit, we were told that they didn't know who the surgeon was and he didn't work for Doctors. Last night, we took my sons girlfriend for heart complications and she had to wait 3 hours. They never got blood work done or treated her symptoms. The nurses claimed all of the staff left at 11pm but we were there at 8:30. The Er was filled with vomiting patients, a girl shaking and crying help. There was no sence of urgancy from the staff and definite a sense of lack of empathy. I will NEVER take someone I care about to Doctors Er EVER again. I think the newly remodeled bathrooms and fancy water fountians should have been a goal left for after they hired proper medical staff. read more

My experience with Doctors Hospital has been negative on 3 occasions now. I personally did not want to use this hospital due to two previous ER room experiences, which each received the lousiest of delayed care. Well, my wife found a doctor that she wanted to use who delivers here, so after a little back and fourth with options, I agreed to give Doctors Hospital L&D the benefit of the doubt to adhere to my wife's wishes. Boy what a mistake. My wife and I just had a baby delivered at Doctors Hospital (labor and delivery) and have had several issues.... For starters, the rooms are lousy, I have seen many videos of other L&D hospitals and the rooms were all very nice, not these. The room was cramped, the sleep area for the father is miniature, and in my case, STICKY from previous patients. Simply disgusting. We created a birth plan, stating our requests on how we would like our special moment to be, we said NO STUDENTS, DELAYED CLAMPING, NOT TO WIPE/WASH OFF VERNIX, DELAY STAMPING SO WE CAN BOND WITH BABY DURING HIS FIRST MOMENTS. Each of these written requests were not adhered to. None. They had students in the room, they clamped/cut the ambilocal cord instantaneous, wiped off the vernix, did not delay stamping. The only request they granted was the NO VACCINES ('til a later date at least), though granted, it was not without an insane amount of push from their end to get this done. My wife also planned on a fully natural birth, but sure enough (like every other story I heard) rather than waiting an extra day or so for further natural dilation, they guilt trip you to take Pitocin, which leads to another medication, and so on. When the delivery doctor was finished, he simply walked out of the room for the evening (1:30am) without saying a word... The icing on the cake, despite all the fresh disappointments, I (the father) am not allowed to leave the hospital due to their strict COVID policy. So, although my wife will be here for likely a couple more days, I cannot leave to pick up some essentials from home or take care of an emergency matter with my 2 dogs. For if I do, I will not be allowed to see my wife or the baby during their stay. Well, unfortunately emergencies happen, I had no choice but to leave the hospital. Therefor now Doctors Hospital literally won't let me back in. They're forcing me to endanger my child by leaving my newborn with my wife overnight who is on Percocet pain killers, and other narcotics (from her emergency C-Section), without me (the sober father) present. Please, re-read that last sentence. Knowing this seems 'off' considering the circumstance, I called their patient advocate as a means to address our situation, but the hospital simply will not make an exception despite this issue. It's legitimately absurd. I will say that most of the nurses I/we have came into contact with have been pleasant. Though, I now see some of them as being deceitful, after the outcome of our well shared birth 'plan'. I must say that Nurse 'M******e' was genuinely incredibly caring and great and did everything in her power to make our special day how we'd like, unfortunately her shift was over prior to the baby's delivery. This will officially be our last visit with any Doctors Hospital department. If you are reading this, and planning to deliver a baby here, I'd suggest for you to highly consider alternative options (Augusta University, birthing center etc.) My wife now agrees that either of the former would have delivered a greater outcome and overall experience. read more

Whenever I have to be admitted to the hospital this is the one I choose to come to!! I'm serious about my food and I don't put up with nasty food, so why not come to a place were everything on the patient menu is delicious!!! I know it seems weird that someone who like a hospital because of the food but it's true. While I was in the care of this hospital I would countdown the minutes when it's time to eat!!! The food was just that good to me!!! I was admitted to the hospital for a case of MRSA under my right arm and weeks after for pneumonia that I probably got from not exercising my lungs while in the hospital. Both cases were very hard on me, but the nurses made me feel so comfortable and loved that I couldn't ask for anything better. On my stay for MRSA, I was moved to several rooms during my time there. Doctors say it was because MRSA is very resistant to treatment and can spread quickly so they did this so it wouldn't get worse. So both of my stays were quite pleasant, even though I was dealing with life-threatening issues. I know many people have horror stories about hospitals and even this one but I don't have those tales to tell. It was great to receive excellent care here and I trust Doctor's Hospital with my life!!!! read more
