I felt she spent more time on the computer than facing me and talking about what I needed. I saw a sign in her office that said if you wanted a physical you had to ask for it, so I did. She had me then sit up on the dr bed and checked my knees and listened to my heart. That's it? That's a physical? Good thing I had insurance because the bill was almost $800!

This Doctors office requires you to send in your records and complete patient forms before THEY decide whether or not to take you on as a patient. It's not enough to have an "in network" insurance. I suffer from multiple diseases and just relocated from the west coast. With the nature of my illness, I suffer from chronic pain and have to take narcotics for pain management. I disclosed this info in my forms; without asking any questions, the receptionist called me to inform that Dr. Tracy Barefield could not accept me as a patient. When I asked why she could not provide a reason. My mother told me she received a text from Dr. Barefield explaining she was not willing to write "that many narcotics". Keep in mind I have a pain management specialist who I'm contracted with for my medications, I was looking for only a primary care provider. If the office or Doctor had simply communicated with me they would have learned that information. I highly recommend you seek care elsewhere.

I Will be finding another doctor, leaving CPC after 20 years! The doctors that I have seen for the last 6 years doesn't seem to want to take time to talk with your or care really about whats going on with your health anyways, they just open their computers type some answers in and leave the room.

I thought it was odd that when I arrived for my annual wellness check that I was asked to sign a form stating that if you and the doctor covered any topics outside of a wellness check that you would be billed for that. I signed it and didn't give it another thought as I no new issues to discuss. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill. I called the office and asked why I had been billed when my insurance covers annual physicals. I was told by the staff that the doctor had asked about things outside of the scope of an annual exam. I asked what and was told that it was related to my sleep apnea. I was astounded as I have had a CPAP for maybe 4 years and I have a pulmonologist and Dr. Hewitt asks every year if I am still wearing my CPAP. My response, yes. How the heck is that yearly simple question and one word answer the requirement for an additional office visit charge. I relayed that to the office and requested they talk to the doctor about this. Never received a call from the office; however, my access to the portal was deleted a few days later and in about a week or so I received a certified letter stating that Dr. Hewitt had dismissed me as a patient and I had a month to find another doctor. As a follow-up I called the office and told the staff about this and the person said that Dr. Hewitt had not put a reason for my dismissal in my chart. Just the facts. If you don't want to be dismissed maybe don't question a charge.

After an…read moreadditional mammogram and an ultrasound and literally the scare of my life, I was referred to Dr. Cooper by a friend and colleague when it was discovered I'd need a biopsy. (Timeline: mammogram on a Tuesday, repeat mammogram and ultrasound on a Friday. My doc sent the referral the following Monday). Imagine thinking about that all weekend! Monday my doc let me know I needed a referral to a surgeon for the biopsy. I told her my friend's reference and she put it through. In less than 2 hours I received a call from Dr. Cooper's office to see when I could come in. They left it up to me. They took me the same day. Now, because they took me the same day, I had a bit of a wait. I took into account that he had to see his already scheduled patients and that he would have to look at the results of all radiology reports I'd given when I got there. The moment he walked into the room I felt good. His bedside manner was wonderful. He was so thorough (but shouldn't they all be?). He was kind and let me know what to expect and put me at ease with his preliminary thoughts. I understood that nothing was final until the results but just knowing that he felt positively about it kept me from pulling my hair out the next couple days. My results were BENIGN! I know he had nothing to do with my results but it was his kindness and his thoroughness and his professionalism that I loved. It seems crazy to laud medical professionals for what they should all embody but when it's done right, it needs to be told. I thank God for him because my wait could have been tortuous or I could have had a moody, crappy, curt, surgeon that had the bedside manner of a white wall.
