Before starting the job he came to the house and did a thorough look-over of the deck and took notes. The next day I had another contractor come by to give me a second estimate for comparison. They barely looked at it, didn't mention all the things that Bill pointed out, told me they couldn't do it until 3 weeks later, then said it would cost twice as much as Bill's quote. Needless to say, we went with Bill. He started the job quickly and wrapped it up even quicker. When he was done he even quoted us on painting the entire deck, which we took him up on because painting a deck is a major pain in the ass. He completed the painting in about 2 weeks (due to weather and holidays) and it came out great. The deck required 3 coats due to the dark stain that was originally on it, but Bill didn't change the cost of the job or complain. I'll call him again if we have another big project that we need a hand with. He's a good dude.

After it was done...the roof leaked worse than before...they were notified and eventually came back and said...oh...they forgot to use the silicon deal on the seams...they came back and supposedly did the silicon sealing... Next rain...still leaking...and continues to leak... definitely worse than before their attempt to fix it. Here's the main problem...I contacted them...told them I needed them to return and fix the problem as I wanted to paint the deck...and now...the water is much worse and I can't paint it until the leaks are properly repaired.....no callback after a bit of time.callex again...no answers...left messages several times......nothing. Finally wrote them s letter which I still have a copy of....nothing...no response...ever...called once more...nothing. Weather turned to winter and I left it go...now out 500.00 dollars and my roof is leaking horribly. I just experienced another rainy day ...horrible leaking going on still but am totally fearful of hiring someone again for fear of being ripped off once again. These guys are aweful..im retired woman alone and I trusted them to take my money and do the job. I don't like complaining but my daughter's are angry now that I've told them why we can't sit on the deck when it rains as we did before these people made a small leak turn into a huge disaster...then totally refuse to get back to me when I tried to contact them over and over again....I lost 500.00... Horrible people...they sure are as unprofessional ad they come...I would never ever recommend them. It's one thing to make a mistake and fix it....quite another thing to take your money and make a major mistake and never acknowledge it by totally ignoring you. After a meeting with my mother, and clear explanations of what we needed and her mobility issues, we got a quote from Cam at Careful Cut. After a few days of working on the project, Cam told my mother the work was done. Being a trusting person, my mom paid him. The work was not done. There was a large gap between the house and the railing (unlike the railing that was replaced) which was a major safety hazard for an elderly person. See picture. The railing that was there was splintery and not sanded. He also missed a number of spots when painting. We contacted him and asked him to complete the work. At first he said he would "see what he could do about the railing and that the door was in the way". Note that the door was only in the way because he forgot to account for door opening when building the steps. When, a few days later, we asked him again when he could finish the job , he sent a rude message then ghosted us. We had to hire someone else to finish the work. Do not hire Cam at careful cut carpentry

Significant defects, including orange discoloration, remain despite repeated attempts at resolution. The contractor repeatedly claimed the discoloration would "fade" with time, but instead the problem has only worsened, leaving the walkway visibly stained. I documented this with dated photos and raised it directly with the owner, but rather than resolving the multiple issues, the owner responded to my concerns with emails such as: - "You are an hard person to satisfy and it making me regretting ever meeting you." - "What is wrong with you? ... You do not dictate my schedule." - "You want to create an issue only to satisfy yourself." - "I can't believe I ran into someone similar to each other in the same month." - And, unrelated to the job: "Are you single?" I raised workmanship issues, and the response was hostility and inappropriate personal comments. This reinforces my overall experience: poor workmanship, unresolved defects, and unprofessional behavior. Further documentation is available if needed. I have requested a refund so I can hire another contractor to correct the issues, and this review will be updated as warranted or based on the outcome.
