I use carpet cleaners all the time in my business of Real Estate, and I always communicate that I will be paying for the services over the phone as a company and not the client. Well, they failed to tell me when booking the appointment that this is not allowed. So when they arrived to the home they were supposed to clean today they demanded payment from the homeowner prior to the work being done and when told the company was paying they said no then left!?? I called the company and they just said sorry, well sorry doesn't cut it when you have stagers, photographers etc. booked for the very next day!! I inquired about their Covid precaution like wearing shoe covers besides masks when they enter our house and I was told that they will make sure they will. Sure enough when I opened the door they were wearing them. Before they start they told me the steps they will do and how long for it to approximately to dry. It was a steamer, all right. Ok, here's what happened. The carpet cleaners arrived in the two hour window allotted. Good. I needed the carpet cleaned in a one bedroom (under 600 sq ft) condo. 2 rooms and a hallway. The bid was $255 with a thirty-dollar internet discount and a $75 portable surcharge. The portable charge is because they cannot use a truck mounted carpet cleaning unit since the condo is on the 2nd floor of the building. The condo is completely empty, so no furniture to move. The carpet cleaner identified himself on the phone as Elvis and I went right down. The city was doing some work on the streets and there were No Parking signs at the entrance. He said, more or less, "They told me I can't park here." I said, "OK let's see if we can do a little problem solving." We went outside and I said, "you can park here temporarily and unload and then move the truck." He said, more or less, "I don't know, man it seems - (then sounds I could not make out)" I said, "OK if you don't want the work, then go." Then they left. I walked the steps to the alternate parking spot; it was 61 steps to the front door. The reason I sent them packing: I wanted someone to clean the less than two-year-old carpets. I wasn't interested in having someone pretend to do it. If they cannot take 3 or 4 minutes to solve the most basic of parking problems will they go over a soiled spot twice? I can accept if something cannot be cleaned. I just don't want to be BS'd. So can they clean a carpet? I don't know but Elvis did not show any sign he cared or would extend himself in even a modest way to help me solve my problem. The carpet cleaning industry has a bad reputation in general. My mistake in this case was not believing it. I am renting a carpet cleaner and doing it myself. After getting a $7 coupon at the Bissel web site, I was able to rent a carpet cleaning machine at Lowe's for $58; and this included the cleaning solutions. read more

I love the Stanley Steemer jingle, and this review would have been for 4 or 5 stars earlier. Some damage was done on 12/3, though. 10/28: Before moving out of a townhouse in Fremont, my wife and I needed to have the stairs and all the carpeting upstairs professionally cleaned (this cost over $200, but was a reasonable request from the property management company given that we didn't have to pay a security deposit earlier). We thought of Stanley Steemer right away, and the guy who shampooed the stairs and carpets did a great job (he was also friendly). He was even able to clean around the items that were still upstairs. 12/3: The carpet in our master bedroom was shampooed by a guy from another company (it's a long story), and he did a weak job (a stain that was on the carpet earlier was still noticeable). Enter Stanley Steemer. You have to pay a minimum of $98 (this allows you to get 2 normal sized rooms cleaned). The cleaning cost us $49 (there was only 1 room to clean), but my wife asked for Supershield 2 and Odor Out Plus to be placed on the carpet. She also bought a Nomad Mat (we're using it as a welcome mat- I don't care that a small Stanley Steemer logo is on the right side). They're really cool (they're spongy, but soft, and they trap dirt at the bottom). As a result, our total with tax was $130.12. My wife went to work right after the cleaning was done. She looked over the carpet, and that's it. I was furious when I got home, as I noticed that 2 tiles in the hallway were chipped. One was chipped on the side, and the other was chipped at the top. I was fairly pleased with the cleaning, but not blown away. I thought that the carpet would look brighter (I basically expected it to be glistening like snow or shiny white teeth), and a faint outline of the stain I mentioned before can still be seen (the workers weren't sure if they could remove it completely). I left 2 messages later, and Paul and Robert stopped by the house on 12/6 (it was my off day, and so I was home). Paul is the General Manager, and he and Robert impressed me right away. They looked over the tiles, asked me some questions, and carefully assessed the situation. I made some excuses for the workers ("Maybe they didn't notice"; "They could have been in a hurry"), but they wouldn't hear of it. They thought that the workers had been negligent, and they kept stressing their strict policy (if a worker breaks something, and it has happened before, they're supposed to admit to it right away). Paul contacted my wife later (I only knew about what happened on the 3rd from her). He then talked to the workers, and he briefly used the word "dismissal" a few times (we were stunned, and we didn't want anyone fired, especially in this economy- my wife also kept telling me how professional the workers seemed). The workers denied causing the chips (from what I know, they were careful to cushion the equipment, but they also left the house pretty quickly once the cleaning was done). I believe that they were unaware of them when they left (I keep picturing the 12-pound cleaning wand accidentally being dropped). A lot of workers went through the house in November. It's entirely possible that the side chip was caused by one of them (I'm not completely sure that it wasn't there before 12/3). The top chip, though, would have been noticed earlier. I'm positive that it was created on the 3rd. My wife and I are being reimbursed $95 (this is what the cleaning cost overall). The credit card charge of $130.12 will now be reduced to $35.12 (this hasn't happened yet, but should occur by the 14th). We're out $130 (a contractor and one of his apprentice sons fixed the tiles yesterday for $225, and did a pretty good job- I'll see them later, and will ask if a bit more grout can be added). I'm happy, though, that the damaged tiles have been replaced. I'm also pleased with the professional response that my wife and I received from Stanley Steemer. I highly recommend the company for carpet and upholstery cleaning. I believe that what happened on the 3rd was an accident. Life goes on. read more

Grout Cleaning service hardly cleaned any grout, and caused a hairline crack on one of my tiles. I had carpet cleaning and grout cleaning done, however the grout cleaning was not satisfactory and the crew also damaged one of my tiles. A "specialist crew" was sent to re-do the grout cleaning, however they just looked at each of the uncleaned areas of grout and claimed that they were stained and did not do anything else. They then left and said the manager would call me. Definitely do not go for their grout cleaning service. For carpet cleaning, some areas that were dirty, the crew dismissed them as soil filtration and did not further clean them. After they left, I was able to remove the dirt with carpet cleaner and some elbow grease. read more

Before starting the job they offered to do a small demonstration on the sofa, to show us what we can expect from their cleaning services. If we didn't like the cleaning results from the demo we had an option to not get the job done! We got two sofas and an area rug cleaned. Very happy with the results. They take pride in their work, not even a hint of rushing through the job or skimming over stains. Very professional in their interactions and conversations. The online 'WEB20' coupon for 20% discount is for the corporate branches, i am told franchises don't have to honor it. This particular outfit is a franchise but they honored the coupon when I asked for it. One thing to note, even though you get can get quote on the corporate website, you should call your local branch to confirm it. They had great customer service, great advice, and were very professional. Before they came I had moved all the furniture and they told me they did that themselves, minus electronic equipment which is understandable being as it could be an issue if something brok, besides that they said they move everything else. I dont really care about them moving or not moving my furniture, but just the fact that Juan let me know that even though he didn't have to, showed me that they have real good integrity. I left an adult and check while I went to an appointment. The guys arrived and I am told got all indignant about not accepting checks. No problem, I would have arrived well before they finished with cc payment. Instead, the guy couldn't get the upholstery or tile done. He complained that it was a sectional, but apparently didn't know the person who booked the appointment was attempting to give me a discount, so he could only enter the job as two love seats. The technician started to quote a different price, and talked about a chair that wasn't part of the job. After all the debacle, NOTHING DONE. He said to call and book another appointment. Lastly, he spoke is his language to the other technician. I find this RUDE since this is an English speaking home and all parties speak English. The cleaners who came to the house were very unprofessional. They were careless with the work and ended up breaking my great-grandmother's bowl due to their lack of attention. Equally worse has been the process of trying to talk to the owner about the issue. At first he wasn't available to talk until the following day, then he didn't get the pictures we sent of the damaged item. We are going to have to pay a lot of money to get a family heirloom fixed because of their inability to properly and carefully do their job. And on top of all of that the stain is still on the floor. We will never do business with them again. Update: We were already in contact with the owner so I don't know what the representative that commented on my original post actually did, but at least I got a response. To make a long story short, the owner didn't take responsibility for his employees actions and we had to do a lot of work with their insurance company. Our carpet and 2 sofas look good. Yes, the price we ended up paying was double what was quoted online but that's expected. The reason I'm giving 3 stars? They arrived at 8:15 am and left at 11. We had one room of carpet plus 2 couches. Why did it take so long I wonder? Maybe because one of the 2 guys asked to use our bathroom and was in there for 45 minutes??? We all know when you gotta go you gotta go but come on. 45 minutes is a lunch break to me. I am not exaggerating the time. I tried to go in to my bathroom and it was locked. After walking to the park and back with my toddler, I once again tried to go into my bathroom and he was still in there! His partner was doing my entire couch by himself and was obviously annoyed. Yes the job was done well, but I felt it was not professional to hide in your clients bathroom for that long. read more

They arrived on time and did an excellent job cleaning out all the sticky tape residue from my staircase. Daniel told me that he would sample one step just to make sure it cleaned it before proceeding. I thought it was really nice of him to do that and his efforts paid off. On 07/03/2021 Stanley Steemer sent one employee to our home to perform a full house carpet cleaning and we were charged $342.00. We asked the employee to make sure to remove all pre-treatment and soap residue from our carpet by doing a double water only rinse. He did not do as we requested. After he finished the job, the carpet (throughout the whole house) had a strong chemical smell from the pre-treatment and the carpet dried stiff and sticky with a soap residue which irritated the bottom of my feet and turned them red. I called Stanley Steemer several times and was told that a manager and the owner would call me back to resolve it. I never received any calls back from any Stanly Steemer employee or manager or the owner. After several more calls to Stanley Steemer, on 07/09/2021 they reluctantly sent one employee over to do a rinse only. It did not resolve the problem. I called Stanley Steemer to speak to a manager, but no manager will speak with me or return my call. UPDATE - On 07/15/2021, after more than half a dozen phone calls to Stanley Steemer, over 10 days after their original visit, a representative sent me an email and I responded. read more

They were extremely courteous, taking good care of my furnishings, etc. Moved more things out of the way than expected and explained what they were doing/using, etc. I have my floors mopped every two weeks. When they showed me the dirty bucket of water after their deep cleaning of my floors, I was shocked!
