I have had a very bad experience with Servpro of Edison over the last few months. I provide details…read morebelow and in many instances quote the owner of Servpro of Edison from his texts to me to support my opinion that the owner is a liar and dishonest person who may have committed an insurance fraud. He is also a rude and condescending person who did not treat me with any respect that one would expect as a customer. A few months back, our sump pumps malfunctioned and our basement was flooded. I called Servpro of Edison. They sent someone who later turned out to be one of their team leaders, to inspect the damage. He started relating the information to the owner on his cell phone. They were very interested in how much insurance coverage I had. Normally, this kind of damage is either not covered with the standard home owner's policy or has very limited coverage. I wasn't sure. He handed me his phone so I could speak with the owner. I asked the owner to provide me an estimate if I ended up paying for the cleanup myself. His estimate was $4,000. Later in the day, I found out from the insurance company that I had bought limited additional coverage for Sewer Backup which also covered damage due to sump pump malfunction to pay for cleanup and restoration and repairs. Servpro of Edison was there just for the cleanup. Now the owner started pressing me to sign a direct pay authorization so he could be paid directly from my insurance company. He also offered me a 5% discount if I signed that authorization. He further told me that if I signed the authorization, he would get the money in about two weeks and would pass on my discount to me right away after that. I am a retiree and the insurance was not covering the cost of replacing the sump pumps. A 5% discount could be helpful so I agreed. A month later I asked him if he had been paid yet. He texted me back, "No, we have not been paid yet. 45 days is quick, 60 is more realistic." If he knew at that time that with direct pay authorization, it would still take him up to 60 days to receive the payment and the same for me to get the discount from him, he surely knew the same a month back when he gave me an estimate for payment of two weeks. That was my first indication that he was a liar and a dishonest person. A few weeks later, I was informed by my insurance company of the exact amount of the payment they sent to Servpro of Edison which was a little over $10,000. That's when it dawned on me why he had been so keen about my insurance coverage and why he deceived me into signing a direct pay authorization. He had just ripped off my insurance company by about $6,000. Remember, his estimate to me for cleanup was $4,000 if I were to pay him myself. What changed? Just the payer. It was now my insurance company rather than me and the charges went up by 150% or 2.5 times. It begs the question, if overcharging an insurance company by 150% an insurance fraud? I am not an attorney but as a layman it is clear to me that this was an obscene overcharge which I find grossly repugnant and I believe that it should be and is most likely an insurance fraud. The insurance companies don't absorb the losses due to fraudulent charges. They still normally show healthy profits year over year. They simply pass on the fraudulent charges to their customers in increased premiums. It is therefore all of us, the policy holders, who end up paying for the fraud. I texted him a few days later, and asked for my discount. He texted me back that they had still not received the payment and added, "I am sure while $500 [is] nice, it is not going to make or break your week". It was clear to me by now that I was not being treated with respect as a customer. He was rude and condescending. A few weeks later, I received the discount payment and noticed that he had shortchanged me by $32. I texted him. His reply was that he had withheld the amount from discount for taxes and he continued with the same arrogance and condescending attitude he had demonstrated in the past, "Pretty sad that you are complaining about $31 while I had the generosity to give you anything back". Our 5% discount agreement was on the payment received by him and there were no exclusions for payments he had to make to anyone; whether for taxes or rent or employees pay or anything else. Secondly, consider the irony of his statement. He had just ripped off my insurance company by about $6,000 and was telling me that he was sad that I would bring up him shortchanging me. To reiterate, based on this experience with Servpro of Edison and his owner, it is my opinion that the owner is a dishonest person who grossly overcharged my insurance company and may have committed an insurance fraud in the process. He was rude and condescending to me at many occasion. In hindsight, I feel that I was treated as a patsy to open the door to my insurance policy for Servpro of Edison and my insurance company was a mark for them.

Supposedly ecofriendly cleaning solutions which I was thrilled about. They accepted credit card as well. Very professional and I am very pleased with their work. I currently have only half a shower door so, if I use it, it floods the floor. According to Rob, my shower door came in wrong twice. I waited two months for the correct frameless shower door yet he proceeded to install one which was the incorrect size (71 1/4 and not 72) ruining the tilework. After installing the incorrect size door, he demanded almost ten thousand more than what was in the initial contract to get the other side of the door cut which he said did not fit with what was installed. When I refused to pay any additional money, he walked off the job and proceeded to text me for weeks calling me names and threatening to call collections. I am left to get the half door removed and cover the holes at this point at my own expense. The original contract, including the correct entire shower door is paid for. Additionally, in the process, he scraped my bathroom floor leaving it bare so, to be fixed, I would need to have the floor completely redone. The entire job is shoddy. I have holes where he grouted and it is disintegrating and even the caulk already has holes and is turning yellow. The project was a complete disaster and waste of money. It caused me a lot of unneeded stress. I would strongly advise to not work with him.

While the team was polite, several key areas were missed -- including dusty ceiling fans and other surfaces that should be standard at this level of service. I sent photos and was told the missed areas would be handled during the first maintenance visit. That visit was even more disappointing. Much of the home was left untouched, including the floors. I was told this was due to a "custom" plan -- yet there was no written contract, no scope outlined by email or document, and no communication confirming that entire areas of the house would be excluded. The only conversation was a brief call over a month prior. During the deep clean walkthrough, one of the team members even told me the floors would be part of the regular service, which added to the confusion. When I raised my concerns, the owner responded defensively and focused more on justifying their side than making things right. The tone shifted quickly once I pushed back, and I was left feeling unheard and undervalued as a client. Some things the owner might consider improving on: * Avoid shifting blame to the client when issues are raised -- especially after a $1,500 service. A missed spot is a missed spot, whether or not it was caught in a walkthrough. * Don't rely on a quick phone call as the sole definition of scope -- especially when no written agreement or clear follow-up is provided. Assumptions and verbal notes are not a client communication strategy. * Reach out proactively after a major service to check in. Leaving it to the client to initiate the first real feedback conversation creates a one-sided experience. And don't rely on staff rating requests to provide insight on client's service happiness, this is not indicative of the client's overall experience. Professionalism isn't just about what's cleaned -- it's about how a business listens, responds, and takes ownership. There's room for you to grow here.

None of these things were done. The master bedroom/bathrooms lighting was not working so they informed me they couldn't properly clean them. Which was completely fine because it wasn't there fault. They still charged me full price for those rooms and nothing was cleaned, at all. Baseboards weren't wiped, the floor was not cleaned. I expressed this all to the company and they returned $100 of my $453 charge. I had to go in and reclean everything myself, pushing our move date back which made us have to sleep in a hotel for a night (extra money that was not needed) Beware of this company.

We asked them to do the dryer vent since they were here, and it's a good thing we did because it was PACKED. To the one reviewer's point about lint in the driveway: Some lingering lint blew out close to a week later, but it wasn't a lot and didn't seem like a big deal to me. Some birds will be happy to add it to their nest. 10/10 would book with DRX again.
