I booked an appointment the day before, not expecting to have availability. I was pleasantly surprised that they did. Arrived on time (actually early, which I was pleased with). The techs came with shoes covered. They were polite and friendly and did an ok job. Carpets really look clean but the upholstered sofa and love seat not so much. They look okay. Even with a $35 off coupon price was still over $200. My apartment is only 764 sq. feet and only the bedroom and living room have carpet. I truly feel I over paid, but I really needed it done. I have 2 area rugs that needed to be cleaned and i also paid extra for the deodorizer, i was given a quote of $119. Which included the special offer before arrival when the techs came they had no idea what i was talking about. Ended up paying 146. I wouldn't have mind if they had done a good job, after techs left my rugs still had food on the edges. And there was a very high chemical smell not a deodorizer smell. I was truly disappointed and would not recommend them. I also had moved all the furniture myself all the had to push aside was a very small computer desk, the leg almost broke and its antique. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. I scheduled Stanley Steamer, the Edison Nj location to be specific, to clean tile/grout in my children's bathroom. Upon arrival the technicians were not able to tell me exactly how much whiter if much at all the grout would be after cleaning. After a demo I decided to move forward. As men were calling me to tell me they completed the job I noticed that the room below the location they were working had become flooded with water! Water coming through the electrical fixtures, through the ceiling, and puddled onto my hard wood floors! I am in shock of this occurrence. But what was even more shocking.... after they vacuumed up the water and left my house, they left a mess of watery boot prints throughout my whole house from this mess. They insisted I pay them, and so I did, because I was just eager to get them out of my home. I have tried to reach this manager but he has not gotten on the phone with me and not reached out to me. In addition I called customer relations whom was also of no help. I have asked for a refund and have gotten nothing. I now have damage to fix in my home because of this inexperienced company. Clearly these people were using way too much water while working for this to take place. I will be contacting BBB next. Do not use this company! In response to your reply that is completely false. I contacted the customer service center to report this disgrace and they in turn called your office. You did offer to send a crew to put fans out to prevent further damage according to the customer service rep I spoke with. I explained I was not going to be him and had a tight schedule as I am a mom of 4. She told me you would contact me within one hour. When you did not I called the central number again and they put me thru to someone in your office who said guys will be available in an hour and I reiterated the fact that I will not be home but did insist on speaking with the manager and the manager refused to get on the phone. Men did arrive at my home unexpectedly as my daughter was leaving she saw them and explained that I was not there to let them in. I have not received one phone calls or messages from your office. I contacted customer relations several times to let them know I have not heard from you. The reason this happened is because they used too much water and the men told me this wasn't the first time this has happened! My ceilings are in need of repair and the fact that you are trying to lie on here when you have not tried to contact me or taken my call because you know I want a refund is a disgrace. I actually had no issue with the service provided, but the UNPROFESSIONAL behavior that ensued because we were women. We had the carpets cleaned and on the way out the technician broke the storm door. They had pulled the door right off the hinges. Accidents happen, we get that... but then they sent another technician to the house to assess the damage. Clearly had zero carpentry experience as he tried telling us the door was already broken. It certainly was not. 1st their own tech said it was working properly when they got there. 2nd it was a storm door that was different sized than the door that had been there previously so the installer had to drill new holes for the hinges. Pretty typical for door installation. Certainly was not broken previously. Then they alleged that maybe it happened after they left and we made it up. This was until we had the picture of it broken with their van and team in the background. We would have been more likely accept their offer of $50 credit (on a $300+ service) had they not treated us like uneducated women who didn't know anything. So unprofessional and $50 does not replace a storm door. Save your money and do not use them read more

I have never written a review in the past but I was so impressed with the services provided by Charles and his helper I just needed to post my feelings. The rugs look beautiful. Spots and stains were removed. Charles was very professional and in complete control. They were here on time and as promised their office called to let me know they were on their way so I did not have to sit around waiting. I set my appointment up online for 2 rooms one tile floor they estimate $232.00 they came to the house said my area rugs were a different cost gave me a new estimate for $885.00 I question how they came to that and I'm not going to accept that. He tried to lower the cost to 820.00 I called head quarters for an explanation they told me they measure the carpets well no one measured or asked how big they were. They are not bigger than a bedroom that is for sure. They thought I would still take that price I asked them to leave. I have used them before this was for sure not going to happen. This was my first time using Stanley Steemer, and my last. Two guys show up on timed schedule. Let's call them FLASH & BLITZ. I read on S. S. website that each room should take approximately twenty minutes. I had two rooms and one hallway cleaned. Well, these two guys where here and gone in less than twenty five minutes total. Remember, the time they spent here included, unloading their truck, cleaning the two rugs and a hallway, putting back their equipment and leaving my garden hose thrown in walkway all coiled up. You do the math on how long they actually took to do the inside house work! And... To top it off I received a call this morning that they lost my check. The clincher, it took me longer to put a stop on the lost check and resolve this matter with S.S., than it took for these two guys to do the work. Oh! The rugs still have some stains. I had my carpets cleaned on July 10, 2015. The guys were very nice, very personable, 2 stars had nothing to do with personnel. In my opinion, the machine stinks. I don't think my rug looked cleaner and it really really bothered me that the carpet was left COVERED in dog hair! I bent down to feel how damp the rug was and dog hair was all over my fingers! I would think paying to get the rug cleaned would include picking up the dog hair. read more

I used Stanley Steemer twice now, but the first time was when I lived in my apartment in Plainsboro, NJ. I am not 100% if this is the location that came out to me or if they were a franchise, but it was the closest one to Princeton, NJ so I'm assuming these were the guys that came out. First off, they were on time which was a plus but they never called to tell me when they were on their way. They showed up within the window of time that I chose, but I have a dog and needed to know when they were coming to be able to let her out and then keep her in my bedroom for the time being. I had the open living room/dining room area done and they charged me quite a lot for just that space. They did not move the furniture so it was like charging me per square foot even though they didn't clean per square foot. I did get the carpet cleaning and protectant and it cost me over $200 just for the open space! They didn't offer me any promotions other than their carpet cleaning program which cost even more! I knew I wasn't going to stay at the apartment for much longer so I politely declined the program offer and they kept insisting that I should buy it. That's one thing I hate...sales and haggling. I feel like I should have the right to decline the offer and they leave it at that. They didn't. Anyway, getting to the quality of the actual cleaning, they were not able to remove some of the stains that were previously treated and they told me I used a bad cleaner when I treated the stains. I used Nature's Miracle. I have a dog and a cat and the dog would have an accident every so often and I cleaned the mess up right away with that. The guy told me I was taking the color out of the carpet instead of cleaning the actual mess. I'm not sure that was the case but I just agreed to disagree. It wasn't the best of experiences, but they did come on time and they were somewhat local and have a decent name for themselves, so I guess I would continue using them in the future. read more

The carpet cleaning was fine but I had a simple request when scheduling the appointment and spoke to the guy on the phone before the job was done---- for them to leave me some booties to keep the rug clean while moving furniture which they normally do without people asking for them. They DID NOT leave the booties. When I called to suggest that if they'll be in the nearby area again to drop them off as a courtesy, I was told NO, because it's unbillable. Cleaned a bedroom and stairs. They say a room consists of 300 square feet, our bedroom is not that high and the stairs are definitely not. They were asked if they could spot clean 1 small area of a pet stains (about a 5 inch circle) in another bedroom and they were not considerate at all and said we would have to pay for a full room to pay for that spot. For something so small for them to do which takes seconds, they lost a repeat customer. Having known of other companies which have no problem in doing so I would have used another but figured I'd try someone new. Work was average as well. Lost a repeat customer. read more

These guys were super great! They showed up at the early end of their 3-hour window, and gave a call-ahead to give me about a 20 minute warning that they were coming so that I could be ready. The two men who came were super professional and helpful, answering all my questions (this was my first carpet cleaning ever in our first home, so I had a lot of questions!) and being very patient with me. While the former owners left the 3-5 year old carpets in good condition with no stains, it was a bit dusty after they moved out, and I can definitely tell a difference now that the carpets are clean and dried. I will definitely be using these guys again in the future. All in all, we spent just under $300 for about 30 minutes of work... but it was absolutely worth it! Thank you! read more

We were told that someone would contact us to set up an appointment. Next thing we knew we got a text telling us the date/time of the appt. We felt that was pretty presumptuous of them since we were not going to be available at that time, and we weren't even consulted to set up a time that was good for us. We called & changed the time. They came to treat our bathroom for possible mold remediation and moisture due to a water leak. They tested for mold and found none, but treated the area anyway to prevent mold from developing. They set up a very loud fan and dehumidifier and said they would be back the next day to finish up. Next morning they gave my husband a bit of a hard time for not answering their phone calls or the front door at 8:30 a.m. We were out late the night before and who knew they were coming at that hour? Not us, as they never mentioned they'd be here that early, just that they'd be back in the morning, and we thought their morning appointments were between 9-12. Besides that, we got a text from their office that the return visit had been scheduled for the afternoon between 1 - 4 p.m. Very confusing!!! When they did arrive they parked in an assigned space and refused to move their truck when my husband advised them they weren't supposed to park there. He explained that the neighbors get disturbed if they come home and can't park in their assigned space. Their response was to say that they'd only be there for a brief time. Other than those things I mentioned the two young men were very friendly, polite and nice to deal with. However, overall, I think that the company's customer service and especially their scheduling process could definitely use some improvement. ... I am changing my review from two stars to three because the work was done well, it was mainly a communication problem, and also because a gentleman took the time to call us about it and offer his apology for our experience. read more

They arrived exactly when scheduled - at the beginning of the 3-hour window given, - with a call prior to arriving. The techs were professional, pleasant, well-organized and efficient. Juan and Shannon cleaned my upholstery on 2/25/11. As far as the cleaning goes, they did a fine job. They arrived on time, were pleasant and were finished cleaning my sofa, chair and a half and ottoman in about 45 minutes. What I found to be a nuisance was the fact that they kept trying to push additional products and services after I told them numerous times that I was not interested. I explained that I wasn't willing to pay any more than the $188 which I was already being charged, especially since I will most likely be purchasing new furniture within the next year or so. It was brought up to me an additional 5 or 6 times after I initially said no and by the time they left I was pretty annoyed. I didn't appreciate the pushiness. I would recommend them for the cleaning services, just be very prepared for the up-sell. read more

WHAT YOUR CREW AT ALL TIMES!!! Needed to get wall-to-wall carpet in small hallway and two 10 x 12 area rug cleaned. So I paid the fee for 3 "rooms." One rug was wide open with nothing on it. A small glass coffee table and a u-shaped sectional with front legs anchored the other area rug. The crew asked if the sectionals are attached. I said no and can easily be moved. I offered to move them out of the way. Crew said they would do it. Also mentioned that a plastic film would be placed under all feet of couch and table as to not stain the wet rug. To keep my 1yr. old out of the way I entertained him in other room. Crew was done very quickly. I asked why my area rug that was wide open still looked dark and blotchy. Said that it was still wet and will take about 4-6 hours. After they left, I noticed that there were plastic under coffee table but not under the brown wooden feet of the sectional that was sitting on the wet rug. GUESS WHAT??? Crew did not even VACCUUM under the sectional!!! The 1 foot wide of area rug under there was completely dry with cheerios fallen between sectional still there. Family still ask me when I was going to get the rugs cleaned. The open area rug looks even dirtier than before. Wish I could show you picture. So very dissapointed!!!! Never again.
